Change

Wyatt and Jason make their way out to the jeep, avoiding anyone on the main floor lest anyone ask questions. They only stop at Jason’s office briefly to pick up Trooper.

Reese looks up from his desk as Katie enters, and he smiles, offering her a seat. “I just wanted to talk to you about a new assignment I’d like you to accept.” He pauses in thought. “I don’t take death threats lightly, and when one of my men is threatened, I make no bones about getting someone to watch their back.” He leans back in his chair. “To get straight to the point, until we find out who’s after Jason, I want you to be his bodyguard. That means going with him everywhere he goes outside of this building and knowing where he is at all times. It means you probably won’t get on any other cases for a while, unless he’s needed for one, then you’d be a team… Now, I’m not going to force you to do this – I know there’s a history between you two. But I am requesting that you accept this. You’re the best person I’ve got for this job. ….what do you say?”

Not much later…

Laura glances out her window and sees Wyatt’s jeep pulls up. She rises from her seat and meets all three of them at the door. Her face fills with compassion as she sees Jason. “Oh, Jase.” She goes to him to give him a hug. “I’m so sorry. How are you holding up?”

Jason forces half a grin and shrugs. “You know me. I’m always alright.”

Laura smiles and shakes her head. “Listen, after I talked to Wyatt, I got to thinking and I remembered that in one of the closets I still had some of Con’s and your stuff from that time you two were staying over here.” She goes into the living room, coming back with a set of clothes. “I think these are yours.”

Jason can’t help a slight chuckle as he accepts the clothing. “Yeah, these are mine all right. Guess I own two sets of clothes now.”

Laura laughs. “Three. There’s another pair of jeans and another t-shirt in there. I could give you Con’s too since your heights aren’t all that different, but I’m afraid you’d need a belt for the jeans.” She throws him a teasing grin. “I’d say to put some weight on your bones, but I don’t think you could do much to improve on that physique of yours.”

Before getting too red in the face, Jason gives her a light backhanded slap upside the head. “While you go look for the brain you apparently lost, I’m going to use your shower.”

Laura giggles and gestures to the hallway. “Have at it, Hotshot. Towels are where they’ve always been.” She shakes her head and sighs as he disappears down the hall. “Is he going to be okay?”

Jason closes his eyes, just letting the water run over him. It’s the first peaceful moment he’s had since yesterday and yet his mind was still in the middle of a war. He had to fight…he was being backed into a corner and the only thing he knew how to do was battle back. His flashback had caught him off guard, throwing a money wrench into his plan of action, but he didn’t want to back down. Adam’s words come back to him, but he shakes them off. He couldn’t relive the events this time. He didn’t have the energy to put himself through that this time…not with so many other things going on. He had to try to conquer this another way. He had to try his way for once.

Jason slowly dresses and gives himself a long stare in the mirror, his jaw set with determination. Not only did he have to remain focused for himself, but he couldn’t continually be putting Katie through this. Not anymore. From here on out, their being together was required of their job, not a social event…especially with Wyatt in the mix now. Jason had to assume the inner stance he had so long ago… his conscience begged him not to… but in an instant…he lets go. Like a veil, apathy descends upon him to create the firs layer of his invisible mask. Next was a cool hardness, designed to thwart sorrow and grief. And on top was the final touch of an expertly designed layer that could manipulate others into believing what he knew they wanted to see from him.

Walking back into the living room soon after, Jason is walking a little straighter…a little taller. His eyes are bright. He’s wearing a smile at the corners of his mouth.

“Well you certainly look and smell better,” Laura comments.

Jason quirks an eyebrow and cocks his head. “Keep it up and I’ll hide those old clothes of mine under your couch for you to smell all the time.”

Laura laughs. “Anybody hungry? I got stuff in the fridge.”

You's not alone

*Katie stairs back at Jason.* " You know you cant tell me just want I want to hear J. It dosent work with me. I know you better than you think." *Katie smiles.* " I'll be here to help you again I promise. You wont be alone."*Standing with Jason KAtie nods to Wyatt.* " Ok I will go see him now if you can take Jason to the jeep and I will catch up with you guys." *Katie smiles at them both, and gives Wyatt's arm a squeeze. Making her way to Reese office Katie stratens her dress and knocks on the door entering.* "Wyatt said you wanted to see me?"

Help

Wyatt relaxes just as little, trusting Katie that everything is okay. His reflexes beg him to draw near and help, but something holds him back. This is something the two of them have gone through before, and Wyatt doesn’t want to interfere.

Jason takes a deep breath, trying to stabilize himself. He knew Katie was right. By so many things going wrong, and by him allowing himself to dwell on them, he’d left the back door open to the past again. He’d been so focused on other things that he’d forgotten to watch his back. But now the nightmares were here again. He’d conquered them once. Could he a second time?

He finally lifts his head, attempting to compose himself. He wants to tell Katie yes, but he’s not sure what he can do anymore of what he’s even capable of. He takes a swipe at his eyes with the back of his hand, drying them, though he is still pale, his hands still shaking as his body reacts to the sudden shock it experienced.

Swallowing hard, Jason finally turns his head to look at Katie. For just a moment, he allows his eyes to lock with hers. The pain courses through his stare, and he knows she feels it. For but an instant, he regains the connection he’d missed since he’d been gone. But he blinks, quickly breaking it.

He’s not sure he can do this, but he tries to give Katie what she wants to hear. “I’ll be okay, Katie….” He draws in a shaky breath. “I was just caught off guard was all.” He shifts his weight, attempting to stand, and suddenly he sees a hand offered. Looking up, he sees Wyatt.

Wyatt gives him a nod, and in but one look, conveys that nothing seen goes any further, and nothing has changed. He’s simply here to help.

Jason hesitates, but finally accepts the hand up, needing to lean on Wyatt just a bit as his knee buckles on him.

Wyatt stuffs his phone back in his pocket. “Laura’s expecting all three of us…how about we get to her place and have some peace and quiet for a while.” He glances at Katie. “On my way down I saw Dad for just a second and he said he wanted to see you. You can talk to him now or tomorrow when you come in.”

Get through this

*Katie sits down on the ground across from Jason. Her heart broke to see her friend go through this all ove ragain.* " Your geting to depressed J. Thats why. You need to remember what Adam told you Jason. You cant do this to yourself. Your in controll." *Katie lets out a sigh and nods to Wyatt leting him know Jason is ok.* " Now your going to be strong right and get through this insed of moping around right?"*Katie holds her smile.*

Why

Wyatt glances at Katie with a little bit of concern for the fear in her eyes. “Okay…” As he pulls out onto the street, he tries not to allow negativity rule his thoughts. But a part of him begins to realize that spending time with Katie may not be all that easy if Jason continued to have problems. This might be harder than he thought.

He drives quickly to TJY, and isn’t even out of the jeep when Katie takes off. He follows quickly, but paces himself, unsure how to react. How big of an emergency was it? Did Katie sense little things, or just big things? Should he stay out of the way or help? Wyatt loved Katie’s insight and keen sixth sense, but it was just a little confusing.

He follows her at a distance through TJY, seeing her disappear into the elevator. He follows, having to wait several minutes to catch the elevator again and not wanting to take the stairs.

Jason is too dazed to have even heard Katie come into the room, and as she touches his shoulder, he lurches violently, turning with hands raised in defense. His face is pale, his eyes full of a hated fear, his body still trembling – there is no doubt what just happened. Bringing Katie into focus, he lets out his held breath, finally pulling himself completely back into reality. “Aw, Katie.” He pulls himself up to sit cross legged and buries his face in his hands, not wanting her to see his tears. It was happening all over again. “Why? Why now?” He whispers. “I can’t go through this again…I can’t.”

Wyatt pauses in the doorway, unsure what’s happening, but Katie seems calm. He decides to wait, though feeling awkward.

Hero on the move

*As Katie gets into Wyatt Jeep she is content and happy. Katie is about to agree to Wyatt to take her back to Laura's when a suddon feeling comes over her. Its a feeling she has felt before it was Jason...but this feeling had not been felt in a long time. Something had happend to Jason that had to do with the past. A fear corses through Katie.* " Actully can you take me back to TJY? Its Jason. Something is wrong."

*After a short drive they finally make it to TJY, Once the car is stoped Katie jumps out and sprints into the building. Looking around round Katie makes her way to Jason's office not seeing him there Katie feels her panic come on. Seeing Jamie Katie walks over to her.* "Hey Jamie, where is Jason?"

*Jamie looks up at Katie.* "Last time I saw him he was in the break room eating. But about an hour ago I heard gun fire so I am guessing he was practicing. Everything ok?"

*Kaite nods and heads for the elavator making her way to the bottom floor. Seeing Jason on the floor and his gun a ways away afear panic rushes over to him. Could Jason have been that depressed and stupid. Katie runs over to him and places a hand on his sounder.* "Jason..." *Seeing he is ok and not shot Katie relaxed a bit.* "Jason are you ok? what happend?"

Emotional Barrage

Jason’s heart aches as Jamie talks, the melancholy setting in, even though she is speaking with hope. He’d had a unique friendship with Con and Laura…he’d wanted to be with them…they’d worked well together, and he missed those times. But had something been missing? He can’t help but remember when meeting Katie, he’d thought of her as on of his very few real friends…if he felt so strongly about Con and Laura, what was different? He lets his thoughts drift away as Jamie continues.

As Katie is mentioned, Jason’s eyes shoot up to meet Jamie’s, questioning what she’s heard, but he doesn’t ask. He can imagine. Is she right? Did people always get the chance to gain back something lost?

He sits lost in thought as Jamie rises and speaks of his mother. He wasn’t sure if he could talk to her about it or not. Did his mom really need him anymore? Was it really true? He wasn’t sure.

Seeing Jamie leave, he offers half a smile, though his mind is already formulating a strategy to deal with all of this. “Thanks, Jamie…for everything.”

After she’s left, Jason looks up at the clock. He needed to go buy some clothes and food, but didn’t have a ride at the moment, and Reese would have a fit if he went out alone right now. Sighing, he stands up, making up his mind. He heads down the hall and hits the elevator, going to the lower level. It’s quiet and dark. No one is down here today, not even Hal.

Jason flips on the lights, their quiet hum giving an eerie sound to the room. He heads to his locker and retrieves his handgun. He had to get his mind off of these things. He had to spend some of his pent up emotions on something.

He loads up and takes his stand, stretching out his arms, pistol in hand. Firing a shot, he hits the target dead center. Another shot. By eight rounds, the bullseye’s hole is barely bigger than one bullet’s width.

Loading up again, Jason takes aim, the shots echoing through the lower level of TJY. His mind wanders. He resists the emotions. He replays the fire. Another target is down. He thinks about his mother. The gun recoils in his hands. His eyes zero in on the bullseye, taking out another invisible enemy.

Time doesn’t exist as Jason fights to regain control, taking his frustrations out on bullets and targets. He’s not even sure how long he’s been on the range.

All of a sudden, as the shots reverberate in his head, Jason is taken completely off guard. His gun is aimed toward the silhouette of a man, and he’s no longer at TJY. He’s in a dark alley, hiding behind a building. His gun is stretched out to the shadowy form, fear and anger filling his veins. Suddenly the form moves into the dim light. It’s a policeman. Relief sweeps over Jason and he lowers his weapon. But a shot whizzes past his ear, a bullet ripping into the police officer’s chest. He falls. Jason cries out and lurches towards him, but something holds him back. A hand. A strong, brutal hand, digging into his wrists to yank him back behind the building. Tears streaming down his face, Jason turns and looks up to his captor. Alex. He screams.

…Jason’s eyes fly open. His body is shaking uncontrollably, sweat pouring down his neck. He tenses and sits up in fear, taking several moments to realize where he is. His eyes bounce around wildly for a minute. He’s alone. He’s at TJY. His gun is lying several feet away. He has no idea how long he’s been out, or what he’s done between target practice and being on the floor. Fear grips him as he recognizes the flashback and he tries to calm his racing pulse. This couldn’t be happening. “Not again.”

Wyatt draws Katie closer to swing his arm around her shoulders. “I’d love to pick you up again my dear damsel without distress.” He grins as he gets into his jeep. “Where to, melady? Back to Laura’s, right?

Helpful Hint

*Jamie nods as Jason talks.* "Thats life Hotshot and growing up. Growing up dosent mean growing apart though. You, Laura, and Con you guys will always be that Tro even if you dont hang out as much. Your always going to be there for eachother. I am sure its as hard on them as it is for you." *Jamie thinks for a moment before trding on dangerous ground, but decieds she has always been one to speak her mind.* " Just like take that new girl for instince. Katie I think her name is." *Silence lingers in the room for a moment as Jamie searchs Jason's eyes connected with the name.* " I hurd tall tails about why she is here, and what not and I dont believe one of them. After everything is said an done no matter the reson it must of been hard and quite the change for her to leave everything behind. See...everyone goes through the times when they arnt as close with someone as they once were but there is alwas comfort in the fact of knowing that they will be there for you in rough times no matter what, and when time alows you will all hang out and be close once again."*Jamie stands and puts her glass in the sink and rinses it out.* "As for your mom, she will always need you Hotshot. You cant and wont be replaced by anyone. I know its gonna be a hard thing to deal with, but maybe talking to you mom about it might help." *Jamie smiles and starts to head for the door.* " I better get back to work. If you need anything dont hesatate to give a yell." *Jamie exits the room and heads back ro her desk.*

*Kaite slips her hand into Wyatt's as they walk back to his Jeep.* " I did have a nice time thank you for asking. And if you can pick me up next week I would like to come back with you. It was really intresting."

Different

Jason doesn't try leaving the sink until he's sure his stomach is empty, and attempts to clean up after himself, taking Jamie's advice and drinking some water.
Though he doesn't respond immediately, he tries to let Jamie's words sink in, despite his resistance to feeling any more emotional pain. Feeling just a little shaky, he sits back down at the table, thinking for several minutes. "I know Reese's reasoning for wanting someone to watch my back...I guess I've always been the one to do it...it's just different I suppose." He again thinks of Katie, trying not to dwell on it long, lest he put himself through even more than he wants at the moment. "As for my mom...I want her to be happy...and I know she's been lonely..." He shrugs, his eyes glued to the table. His walls are lowered if only for a brief instance, allowing him to speak what he really feels. "I guess ever since I felt old enough, I've tried to take care of her... I was always the man of the house, and since high school I helped out with the house, big decisions or whatever...I just felt...needed." He leans back in his chair, putting his hands on his head as the headache persists. "And now...everything's changing and I have no control over any of it." He forces a slight laugh. "I remember a few years ago...things were hectic here at TJY, but I was happy... Laura, Con and I were the inseparable trio at work and away from work...thing were good at home...Austin and I were getting along... and then things started falling apart. It just got worse when I was sent on the Agency case to Texas... now I'm back around Laura, but Con was the glue... so even our trio isn't the same anymore. Everything is different...everything."

Wyatt smiles down at Katie, enjoying seeing her here with him more than she'd ever know. Enjoyment shown in her own eyes, giving him an even greater hope.
Once the service ends, some people leave, but many stay, busily getting the food ready in the fellowship area down the hall. The smell of home-cooked food wafts through the air, making everyone hungry.
More people welcome Katie like she's a part of the family, several inviting her back the next week.
The time is all too quickly over, and Wyatt is once again walking with Katie, this time back to his jeep. "Thanks for coming with me this morning, Katie. I hope you had a good time."

Church

*Jamie's heart goes out to Jason. It wasent so long ago she went through the same thing as he has. Jamie's life had been torn away, her parent killed, her home burned, her brothers and sister devided up and never seen again.* "Its gonna be ok Hotshot. Drink some water if will help calm your tummy." *Jamie sits down again thinking about the words Jason has said.* " I know it feels like Reese is saying you cant take care of yourself, but thats not really it Jason. Your grandfather has a body guard, Carter has a bodyguard. Its for your protection. Sometimes 2 set of eyes can be better than one. they can see more angles. And as for you mom, I know its herd to see her move on. But its not without you. She still wants you in her life. She loves you more than anything Jason. Your her son. But its not fair for you mom to be lonly right? Everything happens for a reson. God has a plane for everything even if we cant see what."

*As the serman plays on Katie listens intently. The words being spoken move something inside her. Yet there is not much understanding. Katie trys to follow along in Wyatt's bible with him geting lost a few times and asking for help. Katie cereosity starts to grow, wanting to know more Katie is sad when the service ends. Standing Katie starts to try and sing along smiling up at Wyatt.*

Sick

With Wyatt's prediction canceled out, hope is restored, and his smile remains. "Good." He shakes his head and looks at her with reassurance. "Don't worry - we have plenty of extra Bibles if you want to follow along. You can borrow mine too if you want."
Within minutes, they pull into the parking lot of a large church. Wyatt gets out and waits to walk with Katie, offering her his arm to proudly walk her inside.
Several men and women greet Wyatt with enthusiasm and handshakes, treating Katie just the same, welcoming her warmly despite being strangers. Wyatt introduces her to several more people as his very good friend, and finally shows her into the sanctuary filled with rows and rows of chairs before a stage.
They find a seat somewhere in the middle, and the service starts with songs of praise lifted up by voices all around. Wyatt starts to sing along with the words on the screen, then pauses to lean down and whisper in Katie's ear. "Now promise me that you'll not make fun of my singing," he teases before straightening again to resume his slightly out-of-tune singing.
It's not long before the sermon begins, all eyes on the friendly minister.

Jason sets his fork back down and sighs, putting his face in his hands. "I'm sorry, Jamie. I just can't handle it right now. I appreciate the thought though." Feeling her hand on his shoulder, he looks up, pursing his lips grimly. "I know... I guess if any of this were my own fault I'd have someone to blame. But as it stands, it's just all crumbling into little pieces all by itself. My home is gone, I've lost everything I owned, my dog is getting taken away from me, any pride I had left for being able to take care of myself has just been ripped out of my grasp by Reese, and my mother is heading down a path that doesn't include me anymore." He forces a short scoffing laugh, not having intended on saying all that, and not wanting any pity. "Depressed? What reason would I have?" He shakes his head. "I know everyone here cares..." His voice trails off as he experiences a sudden lurch to his stomach. Standing quickly, he only has enough time to make it to the sink before throwing up what little food he'd had. "Okay...so maybe breakfast is a bad idea at this point." He leans on the counter as his stomach gives way again, his body rebelling against the strain he's created with his own emotional turmoil.

A new friend?

*Katie shakes her head and smile.* " No, I'd like to stay for it. Reese new I was going out with you today. I can go back after I spend some time with you." *Katie cant help but hold her smiles. She was excited about spending time with Wyatt even if she dident like going to church.* "mmm...I dident have a bible or anything to bring with me. I hope thats ok." *A bit of embarssment shows in Katie's face.*

*Jamie sits down at the table with Jason. Not wanting to have him feel like she is intruding she says.* " Hotshot you dont have to eat it if your not hungry. I know its not my place but, its hard and I understand that. Before I came to TJY my life was in shambles." *Jaime stands and places a hand on Jason's shoulder.* "But thats why we have friends to lean on and put faith in. Dont let yourself get to depressed Hotshot. You have lost of people here who care for you. Remember that."

Phone Call

Wyatt grins, throwing Katie a wink. "If I may be so bold, you're looking quite lovely yourself this morning."
He pulls away from the curb and takes route to the other side of town where his church is. On the way, he doesn't let silence rule. "Talked to Laura on the phone this morning - she told me about Jason's place." He shakes his head. "That's too bad...it's never something easy to go through. I, um, heard you took him over to TJY and kept an eye on things per Reese's request. If he wanted you to come back pretty quick, we don't have to stay after church for the potluck if you don't want..." Willingness embraces his tone, though a disappointment flickers in his eye.

Jason stops for a moment, taken by surprise by Jamie's gesture. He has to shift his thoughts to remove the scowl from his face in order to show his gratefulness, even if his stomach doesn't feel like accepting any food. "Thanks, Jamie. I really appreciate it." He heads to the break room that adjoins the kitchen. Just as he takes his first bite though, a page comes over the intercom with Susanne's voice. "Jason, you've got a call on line two."

Rolling his eyes, Jason stands up, trying to swallow his mouthful before picking up the phone on the counter. "Yeah, this is Jason." He raises his eyebrows. "Mom...hi..." He glances in Jamie's direction, not wanting her to feel the need to leave, despite the private call. "Yeah..." His tone grows quiet. "I'm okay. Trooper got me out..." He leans his back on the counter and crosses one arm across his chest, still holding the phone to his ear. "No...nothing could be saved. If I would have woken up sooner maybe..... yeah, okay... no, I'm going to grab a hotel until I find something, and I'll be meeting with the insurance too, to get things settled there. Uh-uh....yeah, that'll work.... I'm sorry, Mom..... no....really, I'm fine, don't worry about me, alright? .....So what......" Jason pauses as he's interrupted. "You were what? I...I didn't know that...who....well no, I guess I didn't expect you to want to sell. I....I figured.... well no, no, it's just... well what else were you going to do? I figured you'd come back home after a while." Jason grows silent, his eyes shooting up from the floor. "What do you mean? No, I....you mean Wes? Oh." He swallows hard, a strange feeling hitting him in the gut, though he tries to keep it out of his voice. "I didn't realize that...oh...okay....I guess it's good you already had some of your stuff with you there then... yeah..." After a few more minutes, he straightens to end the call. "Okay...yeah, thanks. Alright. Talk to you later. Bye."

Jason hangs up the phone and leans on the counter for a moment. He shouldn't have asked himself if things could get worse. In a matter of less than twenty-four hours his entire world had crashed down around him. Everything he'd deemed stable in his life was being torn from his grasp. Even his own mother.

He sinks down in a chair, feeling sick to his stomach as a throbbing headache continues to pound in his temple. But he doesn't want Jamie to feel badly. He picks up his fork, forcing himself to eat a little bit more.

On our way

*As Jamie see Jason storm by she stands and runs after him.* " Hey Hotshot. I made you some breakfest in the kitchen. Its not much cuz I new you probley wouldent be to hungry but its something at least." *Jamie smiles as she walks along side Jason.*

*As Kaite finish puting her hair up and puting a bit of makeup on to hide her tired eyes she looks out the window Wyatt was waiting outside. Glancing at the clock she relizes that she is running late.* "Crap." *Kaite finishes flying around the bathroom and than runs into her bestroom as she enters Henry is laying on her bed just looking up at her. He lets out a soft Meow.* "Ya ya I know I am running late Henry." *As Katie heads downstairs she looks around for Laura and relizes she must have gone already. Katie grabs a glass of OJ and downs it. Strating her black dress (The one she wore to the winterball) she heades out. Geting into Wyatt's jeep she gives him a hug.* "Morning. Sorry I am running late. You look very nice." *Katie beams.*

Final decision

Jason half rolls his eyes at Katie, but takes the blanket back, knowing that arguing is futile. He sits awake for a long while, until early morning he drifts into a light sleep.
He thinks he hears movement a couple hours later, but he keeps his eyes closed, hoping that maybe by sheer will his headache will subside if he just rests a little longer. Feeling Katie close and hearing her voice, he starts to become more fully awake, but by the time he opens his eyes, she’s gone. He drifts in and out of sleep a while longer before convincing his body to get up.
Yawning and stretching, he glances at the clock. Reese should be in by now…
Finally rising, he cleans up the best he can, and heads to Reese’s office, avoiding the main floor for now…

“What?” Jason hoped he wasn’t hearing correctly. He stands in front of Reese’s desk, having intended on informing his boss what he would be doing in the near future, but instead, was receiving orders and new information himself.

Reese sighs, having known it would be a battle. “Look, Terry needs a good dog for the job, and Trooper would be perfect.”

“But…”

“It’s what you trained him for, Jase.” Reese’s tone grows a little more stern. “I want him ready to be picked up tomorrow, and he’ll be back when Terry’s case is closed.”

Jason’s body stiffens as he resists the urge to refuse. Trooper belonged to TJY, whether Jason was the one who took care of him or not. He had known from the beginning that the dog would have to be available for cases other than his own.

Reese reads Jason’s body language and frowns. ‘I’m sorry, Jason. I know it isn’t the best time. But I can’t help it.”

Jason crosses his arms and glances at the floor. The dog meant more to him than he’d care to admit, and letting him go was harder than he thought it would be. “He’ll be ready.”

“Good.” Reese folds his hands on his desk. “Now, about where you can stay until you get on your feet again…”

“Thought I’d grab a hotel until I could get an apartment or something.”

Reese nods. “Sounds okay, though there’s several of us around here who wouldn’t mind giving you a spare room.” He shrugs, knowing Jason will refuse. “It’s whatever you want, but as far as I’m concerned, you shouldn’t be alone.”

Jason quirks an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”

“I said I don’t think you should be alone.”

“What, suddenly I’m incapable of taking care of myself?”

“Someone is trying to kill you!” Reese exclaims. “They’ve tried three times now, and don’t try to deny it. Until we find out who or why, I want you to have a bodyguard.”

Jason’s eyes widen. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“I’m not. I’ll be speaking to Katie about it tomorrow.”

“Katie?!” Jason can’t believe it. How much worse could it get? “Please don’t do that.”

“Well who would you pick?” Reese challenges. “I can’t give up Wyatt, he’s on too intense of a case. I can’t use Laura – you two are like siblings, but you know when it comes down to it, you two would butt heads over decisions. I could give you Con, but I doubt you’d want to leave Austin vulnerable.”

Jason racks his brain for an alternative. “Look, just don’t use Katie, please.”

Reese frowns. “If this has anything to do with your ideas of her liking you, or whatever it was the last time, I don’t want to hear it. She’s good, she’s like a bloodhound when it comes to you, and she’s by far the best pick to be your bodyguard.”

Jason throws his arms in the air. “Oh come on!”

“What’s your problem? Is it that she’s a woman or what?”

“No!” Jason groans and starts to pace. “It’s just…” The words are on the tip of his tongue, but still have a hard time in coming. “I don’t want her to get hurt, Reese.”

Reese raises his eyebrows. “Are you implying she would be?’

“Are you implying she’s invincible?”

Reese sighs. “She took on the job, Jase. My decision is final.”

Jason leaves Reese’s office feeling like he’s been trampled on all over again. Could this not get any worse? Trudging across the floor, he avoids the few employees who have come in, and makes his way back towards his office, passing Jamie’s desk on his way.

Wyatt taps his hand on his steering wheel to the beat of the music playing on the radio, and pulls his jeep up to the curb. He’s dressed more nicely than normal in his good jeans, collared shirt and blazer, his hair pulled back. He glances out the window, not sure if he should go in, or if Katie would have seen him pull up.

Jamie

*As Katie looks up at Jason huvering over her she feels a chill run down her spin. After he throws the blanket over she she looks over to him as he shives alittle. Leting out a sigh she throws the blanket back at him.* " You need one too, dont try to argue. I'll be fine." *Rolling over on her tummy she rests her head on her coat again watching over Jason. As the night drags on sleep dosent comes to her.*

*At about 6 am Katie can hear someone out in the other room. Standing her heads out and looks around. She see Jamie at one of the desks. Going over to her she says good morning and gives Jamie alittle but of a run down on what happend. Leting Jamie know she need to go out and to keep an eye on Jason till she got back or Reese got back. Jamie agrees. Katie heads back into Jason's office and grabs her coat. Before leaving she gives Jason who seems to be sleeping in peace for now a hug.* "I'll be back soon J." *Katie heads out and heads for home to return Laura's car and get ready for Church with Wyatt.*

*As Jamie sits at her desk she sifts though papers. Today was Sunday and there were no meeting to go to. She was use to being in the office by herself working on files and checking invintory. Today she had an even more important job, watching Hotshot. Jamie stanns and heads to the breakroom to prepare some breakfest for when Jason woke up.*

Blanket

Jason eyes the bottle and once Katie is settled on the floor, he takes the pills, dumping a couple out into his hand. He exits his office to go to the nearby water fountain, downing the pain killers. Leaning on the fountain, he angrily smacks his palm on the rim, upset with the situation, and upset with himself. He didn’t feel well, and was emotionally drained. It was a bad combination and he knew it. He was miserable, and he was acting like it, taking it out on Katie, who was only trying to help.
He trudges back to his office and looks down where Katie is lying. “It’s gonna get cold in here,” he comments. Grabbing the second blanket, he spreads it out on top of her. Not wanting to sit at his desk, he takes up a spot on the floor several feet from Katie, sitting up against the wall and drawing his legs up to keep himself warm.

Advil

*Katie takes some Advil out of her pocket and slids them to Jason not saying anything. Going back over to the blankets Katie lays down on top of them using her coat as a pillow. Katie stairs up at the celling for a long while not being able to sleep.*

Misery

Jason keeps himself from sighing. “Look, Katie, thanks, but I really don’t feel like doing anything right now. If you must know, my knee feels like it’s going to explode and I have a jackhammer working on my head. I don’t think games are going to help.” He slides his feet back off his desk and leans forward to resume his posture of using his arms as a pillow on his desk. “All I need now is either a bottle of pain killers or someone to put me out of my misery.”

pool

*Katie lets out a sigh as she looks down at the blankets thrown at her. Jason's words hurt, stung alittle but the smile from Katies face does not fade. She knows and relized Jason is upset and its understandable. Katie stand and walks to Jasons desk.* "Well my adrenalen is running and I cant think about sleep now. How about a few games of darts or pool to work out of frustrations?"

If you insist

Jason’s barriers fight back for all they’re worth, despite Katie’s words piercing so deeply.

He finally allows his gaze to shift without moving his head, looking at her out of the corner of his eye. “I’m fine, Katie… The best thing you can do for me right now is not to make a big deal out of this.”

He stands and takes blanket he’d grabbed on his way to his office, and he opens his door. He tosses the blanket into her lap. “If you insist on spending the night, at least keep yourself warm.” He moves around his desk to sit in his chair, and leans back, propping his feet up on his desk. He stares at the ceiling, signaling that he is far from allowing himself to sleep.

Promises

*For a moment Katie is shocked by what Jason said but soon it pass. Katie looks Jason in the eyes not denying anything.* " If Wyatt beleaves some rumers than thats his problem Jason and he dosent know me as well as he has said. No one can tell me I cant be with my friend. If there is no trust than there is nothing." *Katie shifts her weaght off her knees as they crack alittle from being in one position for to long.* " Also I promised Reese I would watch over you. In the morning when someone alse comes in I will go about my day. But till that I have a promise to keep to you and to Reese. I'm not one who makes habbit of breaking there promise. I'm not worryed about someone bad geting to you right now J. I am worryed about you geting your ownself." *Katie smiles to let Jason know she means what she says but she is not angry. Only love, and friendship can be seen in the young girls eyes.*

Lost battle

Jason allows Katie to hold him, letting his head rest on her shoulder. Everything is numb. This whole thing was just unreal. He knows Katie’s words are true…if it hadn’t been for Trooper, he probably wouldn’t have made it out of the house in time. But at the moment, that reassurance doesn’t do a whole lot to his spirits.

Feeling Katie’s hand on his back, Jason closes his eyes, fighting desperately his emotional battle. He’s tired of feeling vulnerable. With anyone else, pulling on a mask of confidence would be easy. But not with Katie. She evoked thoughts and feelings no one else did, drawing out his true self, and clawing at his walls of protection.

He is silent, not allowing any more tears to fall, but drawing inside of himself to wage the war he must fight.

Katie’s sweet voice fills the dimly lit office, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The words reverberate in Jason’s ears, trying to disperse his despair. Her soft tone touches places in his heart, despite locked doors and solid walls. Her presence can only be treasured.

As the quietness envelopes them again, Jason’s logic automatically kicks in. His emotional reflexes snap back to life, sending him to a place where he cannot feel the pain. Where he can function while putting off dealing with what he is feeling. He doesn’t want to…he knows it’s wrong…but he lets go, losing that battle.

Raising his head, his eyes focus on the floor. “You need to go home, Katie, and get some sleep…I don’t want you lacking because of me. It’s not fair to you…and I’ll be alright here…the security is tight.” He forces a short scoffing laugh. “Besides, you don’t need any more rumors flying around about us – it wouldn’t exactly help you and Wyatt.” He bites his tongue as soon as the words are out, knowing they had been spoken in haste, but it’s too late.

Stand My Ground

*Katie watches Jason intently. The look in his eye she has seen before. Depresstion was sinking in. Every little move registered and played in her head showing her what he could be doing. As Katie see Jason lean aganst the floor and slide to the wall she stands and makes her way over to him. Kneeling down next to him she gently puts her arms around him and pulls him in to hold. Leaning her head down Katie places a friendly kiss on Jason's head.* " I know you lost alot J, but you made it out with you life. Thats something that could never be replaced. I know your mom is gonna see it that way too." *For a long moment Katie is silent. Than running her hand up and down Jason's back rubbing it softly she starts to sing.* " No I'll stand my ground, won't be turned around, And I'll keep this world from draggin me downgonna stand my ground... and I won't back down. Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out. hey I will stand my ground, and I won't back down. Well I know what's right, I got just one life, in a world that keeps on pushin me around, but I'll stand my ground...and I won't back down.." * Katie continues to sing a few differnt songs as she rubs Jason's back. She will be there for him. She will always be there for him no matter what.*

Void

Though stunned, Laura agrees with Katie and says if there's anything she can do, to let her know.

Jason hangs up the phone, not having dialed. He can feel Katie's eyes on him, but refuses to meet them. "I can't do it...how am I supposed to tell my mother that all her belongings are gone? Just like that?" He bows is head to rest his forehead on his hands, resting his elbows on his desk. "That's not something she should hear over the phone." Making up his mind, he picks up the phone before he has a chance to think of something else, and dials quickly. "Hey, Con..." He laughs a little, though his facial expression remains dismal. "No...it's not.... look, in the morning I need you to talk to my mom, alright? No, I'm fine..." Jason closes his eyes for a moment, regaining his strength. "It's the house. There was a fire.... everything was lost. ....Yeah, I got out alright, but nothing's left...I can't tell Mom over the phone. I'd appreciate either you or Austin telling her what happened, and if she wants to call me tomorrow, I'll be here at work. .....No...but I'm staying the night here... yeah....I'm sure... Thanks, Con. Yeah...talk to you later."
He hangs up the phone, exhausted.

Still not looking at Katie, he rises from his seat. "I'll be right back." He exits his office to head into the bathroom across the hall. Standing at the sink, he splashes cold water on his face and washes his hands, at least getting clean, though he's pretty sure his clothes are ruined from the smell of smoke. He leans his hands on the sink and looks up to stare himself in the eye, water dripping off his face. He'd faced despairing times before...he'd lost friends, he'd been injured, he'd been shoved around... but nothing had ever felt like this.

After drying his face on a towel, he comes back to his office. He stands for just a moment, not even knowing what to do. Leaning against the wall, he slides to the floor, bringing his knees up to his chest, his arms holding them in place. He stares straight ahead as memories begin to bombard him. School nights...cookouts...birthday parties... Almost forgetting Katie's presence, his wall cracks under the pressure and a single tear escapes to silently roll down his cheek. He fights the feeling of vulnerability for all he was worth. He can feel himself shutting down. He can feel himself starting to slip into the void where he could shut out the world.

Lean on Me

*Katie nods to Reese.* " Ok I will. I'll probley have to leave sometime in the morning to get Laura her Car back but After I go to church with Wyatt I'll have him drop me off here again." *Katie goes to her desk and dials Laura's number.* "Hey Laura its Katie. I wanted to let you know I was at TJY with Jason. Someone burned his house down he's not doing to well. Reese asked me to stay here and watch him for now. I'll bring the car back in the morning when Jason is sleeping. I need to be back early anyways for church with Wyatt. Ok Laura..bye" *Katie hangs up the phone han goes to Jason's office and sits down in a chair. Katie trys to tilt her head to look him in the eyes. till he hangs up the phone.*

Despair

Jason refuses to look at Katie, lest his walls crumble, but he gives her hand a little squeeze, letting her know that he appreciates her. He says nothing on the way to TJY, lost in his own thoughts.

Getting out of the car, he leans on Katie just a little as his knee retaliates from everything that happened. Once inside, Reese is just on his way out. He stops in his tracks, his eyes going wide. "When I told you to go home because you looked like crap, I expected you to return in better shape, not worse!" He looks at Jason with concern. "What happened?"

Jason stands a little straighter, his wall full in place to avoid any emotional battles or displays. "Someone burned my house down. I'm here to call my mom and to spend the night in my office."

"What?!" Reese's eyes go even wider. "What do you mean they burned your house down?"

"How many ways can I say it?" Jason keeps his cool, though his temper has a short fuse right now. "Someone lit a match and it went up in smoke. Everything is gone. I have to talk to the authorities tomorrow, and I'm sure they'll have an investigation because it's already been stated that they think it's arson." He throws his hands in the air. "That's it."

"Oh, Jason, I am so sorry." Reese's whole body language changes. "You sure you want to stay here? You can stay at my place if you want. Do you even have any clothes or anything here?"

Jason shakes his head. "No...I'll stay here, but thanks. And no - what you see is what I got. But...I'll manage." He nods, and turns to head to his office, ending the conversation.

Reese looks to Katie and speaks a little quieter. "I don't like that look in his eye. Keep a watch on him, will ya, and call me if he does need something."

Jason trudges to his office, sinking down in his chair to bury his face in his hands on his desk. He had to go clean up...He had to figure out what all had been lost... he had to call his mother. Dread fills him. How was he going to tell his mother that all of her things were gone? She had some of her belongings with her back in Texas, but most everything had still been here. Jason couldn't begin to count all that was now gone. Everything he'd ever been able to call consistent and stable was now gone. Raising his head, he picks up the phone. He hears the dialtone waiting, but his finger hovers above the buttons, unable to make the call.

TJY

*Katie watches Jason and he own heart breaks. She has only been in that house 2 times, but those 2 time had made a few memories for her. So for Jason there must be even more. It was hard to see her friend hutiing. This was something she could do nothing about. Laying her hand on Jasons for a moment in a horse whisper Katies says* " Its gonna be ok J. I know it dosent seem like it. But it will be." *Katie starts up the car again and drives down the road. The ride is quiet and dismay hangs in the air. Finally pulls up t TJY Katie shuts the call off and hopes out going over to Jason's side. Opening the door Katie helps Jason out and calls to Trooper.* "Come on lets get you inside and cleaned up." *Katie,Jason, and Trooper head inside.*

Gone

Jason stops as the car pulls up behind him, and for a moment, squints in the headlights. Hearing Katie's voice, his emotions reach their limit. She'd come for him again...he should have known that. She was too good at sensing his danger for him to have thought he'd get all the way to TJY on his own without her showing up. He was just as glad he wasn't at the house anymore though.

Trooper readily agrees to getting in the car, climbing into the backseat and having just a little trouble sitting down. Jason slides into the passenger seat. Now in the brief light of the interior bulb of the car, it's seen that his white tee has been blackened, along with his hands and face, his outer flannel shirt slightly singed from his flight across the porch. He reeks of smoke, and his eyes are still watery. Only now does he realize he has several small burns on one of his hands and isn't even sure when it happened.

Jason stares at the floor, too stunned and emotionally wrung out to even think of what's going to happen now. "It's all gone, Katie," he manages. Suddenly tears pool behind his eyes, and it's not from smoke. He wills them back though, refusing to let them fall. "Everything. The house is gone. Someone set fire to it...I barely made it out." He swallows hard. "There's nothing left..." Mustering up his strength and rebuilding a thick wall, he takes a deep breath as if believing the discussion is over. "Just take me to TJY."

Companyin in the Night

*Angel smiles at Luke and nods returning his hug.*

~*~Later That Night~*~

*Katie stands in her room throws darts at the new dart board she has just baught. She needed to keep practicing Wyatt was starting to get better. Katie needed to keep her reputation up. Throwing the last dart Katie goes over to the board and pulls them off. Taking her place again at the end of her bed. As Katie is about to throw a dark a strange and intence feeling comes over her. Jason...something was wrong with Jason again. Katie looks around the room and sits down on her bed. She felt warm, almost burning up. Something was going on. Something bad. Taking her gun from her draw she puts it in the back band of her pants. As she opens the door and almost kills herself tripping over Henry she twists her knee. Katie leaves out a bit of a yelp.* "Darn you Henry." *Katie limps the rest of the way down the hall knowing now she would be unable to walk or run. Finding Laura siting on the coutch Katie comes into the room.* "Hey Laura, do you think I could use your car for a few? I promise I will be carfel."

*For a long moment Laura thinks.* " Ok ya thats fine. Just becarfel please."

*Katie nods to Laura.* "Thank you." *Katie grabs the keys off the table and heads for the door. Grabing her coat along the way. Once outside Katie hopes into Laura's car and drives in the direction of Jason's place. As Katie drives down the road she can make out a figure walking down the street and the glow of a dogs eyes at the headlights bounce off them. As Katie pass by she can make out its Jason. Breaking Katie does a u-turn and heads back the other way pulling along side Jason and rolling down the window.* " Jason? What are you doing? Whats wrong? why are you out here walking? Come on get in the car." *Katie opens the door for him from the inside.*" Seeing Trooper look at her she pats the seat.* " Come on Boy, come on get in."

Tragedy

“Alright…I’ll keep up the exercises…and I’ll think about using a cane.” Luke tries not to allow his situation create despair, and can simply be thankful for someone like Angel. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I don’t know what I did to deserve a woman like you.” He reaches out to pull her down into a hug, then a tender kiss, drawing away just enough so he can see her eyes. “Thank you…I promise not to hide this from you any more.”

Wyatt chuckles. “Alright. It’s agreed. We share.” He opens the door to the café. “But you’re going to pick the table we sit at, so I can choose to pick up the tab.”
Their luncheon is shared with light conversation, avoiding any heavy topics, and filled with humor and banter.
When finished, Wyatt walks Katie back to TJY, then gives her a lift back to Laura’s before returning to finish out his work day.

Nine o’clock
A silent figure darts through the shadows, undetected by eyes or ears. It makes its way around the house, slowly doing its deed to the extend it has been ordered. They are only visible in a single instant when a match is lit before they again disappear through the back yard.

Jason is lost in a deep sleep. The pills he’d taken for his headache had knocked him out, and the afternoon had slipped by unnoticed into the dark evening.
Trooper whines and nudges his hand. Not getting a response, he licks it, still whining.
Jason moans and rolls over. “Go lay down,” he mumbles drowsily.
Trooper doesn’t give up, but goes to the other side of the bed, getting both front paws onto the mattress, taking Jason’s blanket in his teeth and dragging it onto the floor before letting out a bark.
“I said go lay down!” Jason snaps at him.
Trooper ignores the command and barks again, this time several times in a row.
Jason is just about ready to throw a pillow at the dog, when he suddenly feels an overwhelming sense of danger. Sitting up in bed it takes him a moment to realize that the fog he sees isn’t in his mind – there is smoke everywhere, and his eyes already start to water. “Oh no.”
Barely taking time to throw on his jeans, flannel shirt and boots, he goes for his door, Trooper whining at his heels. Feeling the doorknob, he finds it warm, but not so hot that he can’t touch it, and he risks opening it. Horror fills his veins. It’s not just his bedroom that’s at risk, but the entire house. Flames are everywhere, smoke filling every crack and crevice. Jason could barely see down the hall. He backs up into his room to head for his window, but flames have already reached it, providing a dangerous escape route.
Hardly able to believe what’s happening, though now fully awake, Jason heads back to the hall, taking Trooper by the collar for support as he limps.
He covers his mouth with his sleeve, starting to cough from the noxious fumes. Making it to the living room, he hasn’t time to dwell on all the items that are burning as part of the ceiling caves in, missing him by inches. Trooper jumps to the side, knocking Jason off balance and he falls to the floor.
Coughing, he crawls forward, barely able to see through the smoke and the tears it produced. His hand reaches tile. He’s in the kitchen with only feet to go. “Trooper!” he yells. “Come on!”
Trooper is right behind him, going for the door.
Using the dog as leverage to stand, Jason reaches the door and opens it quickly. The porch is engulfed in fire. But he’s made it too far now to stop.
Ignoring the pain in his leg, Jason takes two strides to make it across the flaming porch, landing in the yard hard enough to bring him to his knees as he rolls on impact.
Groaning, he can hear sirens. Someone had already called the fire department. And no wonder…
Jason manages to get to his feet and back away from the intense heat. He can’t believe his eyes. The whole house was in flames.
As the firefighters arrive, they move past Jason to start working on putting the fire out. Neighbors exit their own houses to ensure their own safety, lest the flames spread. Water goes everywhere. There is noise and chaos. And in the middle, Jason stands, in stunned silence.

“Hey, you okay?”

“Huh?” Jason turns to a firefighter.

“I said are you okay?”

“Um, yeah.”

“Is there anyone else in the house?”

Jason shakes his head numbly. “No…it was just me.”

“Do you have family? Do you need to call someone?”

Jason shakes his head again, not thinking things through. “No, not…not yet…I mean…no.”

The flames reflect in his eyes as he watches his childhood being destroyed forever. The firefighters were working hard, but it was obvious that nothing was going to be saved. There was just too much fire.

Everything was gone. Jason can feel his stomach tightening into knots. His mother’s belongings…pictures…music…oh, all of his music was gone…all his memories…everything. Gone.

It’s not long before the house is a smoldering heap of blackened wood, bent metal and melted plastic. The putrid smell wafts through the think night air. And Jason stands alone. He had refused a ride anywhere, too stunned and numb to want anything. He was supposed to give an account to local authorities tomorrow. That’s all he knew…
He’d been told to call someone, friends or family, but he’d refused that as well. Whether it was utter disbelief for what had happened, or the want to be alone in his misery, he didn’t know.

After standing for a long while, Jason finally turns and heads down the sidewalk. He’s just glad that the pair of jeans he had grabbed had his wallet and keys. He would need his ID to get into TJY…someone was always around overnight…and it was only eleven o’clock. He’d get there in about forty-five minutes at this pace, and if his knee held up.
Trooper walks obediently at his heel, seeming to sense the despondency in his master. Jason doesn’t keep too wary of an eye out for any attackers. He was confident that after tonight, they would wait to strike again at least a day.

Holding Hands In Life

*Angel sighs and shakes her head.* " I know the weather dosent help, and I know its hard. I think its come to the point too every morning and night you going to need to rub them down." *Angel can feel him flinch but keeps rubbing.* "The muscles are geting way to tight and thats not helping anything. I am going to get you a cane, or a wheelchair as well. I know your gonna hate using them but you need help for times like this." *Finally Angel stops rubbing feeling that Lukes legs are lucened up now. Now relizing he dosent have a shirt on she blushes.* " I know you dont like me to see you this way but Luke. Once we are married Iam gonna probley see you alot more like this. I want to help. Please dont hide it from me."

*Rosetta nods to Mick and puts her hand on his.* " I know, and the innocent that have to come along too." *Rosetta glances at BJ as he plays on the carpet with Jeff.* " But, hopefuly this will end soon." *Rosetta smiles at Mick.*

*Katie smiles as Wyatt accepts what she has said. It was a good feeling knowing he trusted her and accepted her for this. Katie giggles and smiles at Wyatt taking his hand.* " I would be honnered to go on a casule date with you Wyatt. As just so you know. I dont want to call ALL the shots. We need to work as a team." *Katie cant help but smile even more.* "Chanses it what helps us grow right. I'm glad I get to shair them on you." *Katie enters the Cafe with Wyatt looks at the menu.*

Casual

Luke sighs, letting his forced smile fade. “I’m sorry, I just…I know you’re with me through thick and thin, I just still hate you seeing me like this…when I feel so helpless.”
He tries to relax as she works on his legs. “I’ve kept up with them as much as I can…but it’s been a little hard lately, and the weather changing doesn’t help things much.” He winces as he experiences a spasm in his back. “A couple years ago I was down for two weeks…I didn’t think I was going to recover from that one, but Kyle was finally able to get me up and around again.” What feels like an electrical shock runs down the back of his leg Angel’s rubbing, and he flinches.

Mick raises his eyebrows at the new information. “Wow. A nephew, huh? That’s interesting.” He reaches over to see some of the papers more clearly. “I wonder if we’ll ever really know the extent of our families,” he muses. He takes a glance in Dylan’s direction again. “I just hope my own kids don’t get dragged into this any more than they already have. It’s dangerous just having had contact with me.”

Wyatt listens with compassion, having had no idea the history between Katie and Jason. He could tell there was some tension between the two when Jason had come back to TJY, but he never would have guessed that they’d had such a harsh parting. The news that Jason had had another girl was slightly startling as he’d never seen his friend pursue any girl at all, let alone to that extend. The fact that Katie had been upset was indeed a sign that she had cared for Jason on a deeper level, even if it hadn’t been returned.
Wyatt’s heart goes out to Katie…not only for what’s happened, but for her willingness to share with him now. She’d obviously been through a lot, emotionally. He still knew so little about her…but was catching a glimpse of her heart now. She was strong, yet delicate. Determined, but weakened by her own compassion. And she was above reproach, that much was obvious. Wyatt could no more accuse her of making unwise decisions with Jason overnight than he could Laura.
He gives a little grin as she pays him compliments, though he takes on no embarrassment. He’s enjoying her honesty too much.
He stops and looks at her, cocking his head slightly as she admits the same as what he’s feeling. “Thank you, Katie…for being honest and sharing with me. I had no idea, and I’m sorry for thinking badly of you this morning. I don’t understand what you and Jason have, but I’m okay with that, and I can’t help but trust your words, no matter what appearances say.”
Wyatt pauses, pursing his lips in thought, though letting his grin show through. “Alright then…” He holds out his hand. “Shall we walk into the café for an extremely casual date then?” His grin becomes a smile, though his tone is still serious. “And just so you know, you’re calling all the shots. We move no faster than you’re comfortable with, and I’m very okay with that.”

2/24/08

What is to come

*Katie listens for along while. As Wyatt stops her she looks up into his eyes. Katie can see his intrest and longing to trust. What did she want. She new she liked Wyatt and would like to pursew more with him She did like Jason as well but Jason had said once before he wanted nothing more with her but a friendship and that was made clear at the ranch. So her liking for Jason was put on the back burner and her heart closed off to anything more than a friendship in fear of being hurt again. Slowly Katie speaks to Wyatt trying to sort through her own thoughts and feelings making sure she dosent say the wrong thing to Wyatt.* " Well...first I would like to say is. Since I met Jason I always had a connection with him. I dont know how or why. But its like something you would only see in the movies I guess. When Jason is hurt, in danger, or his emotions about the past are geting the better of him I can feel it. I know when something bad happens to him or if he is hurt. I could never let those feelings just pass by eather. If something happend to Jason and I new I could have stoped it I would feel horrable. Thats why I was with Jason lastnight Wyatt. I new something was wrong and like I said before when I called and got no answer I thought something was wrong. So I made sure he was ok." *Katie takes a deep breath as she thinks once again about what to say next.* " Lets see next topic." *Katie cant help but laugh trying to let the tention go she is feeling. It was always hard for her to talk to someone about her emotions besides Jason.* " As for my feeling for Jason, when I first met him did I like him yes I did alot. I thought maybe there was a chanse he liked me as well, but I was wrong." *Katie starts to walk again. Reliving the last was hard. The words, the hurt it was never easy.* " Everything blew up at once. Jason ended up going to some silly dance with Jade and than after I went to see if he had a nice time and i saw them kiss rather intamitly. It hurt to see that I guess. I Just, I dont know I guess I was wrong for wishing Jason had told me about Jade. But it just would of been nice so I could have stoped chasing something I could never have and stop making myself look like a fool." *Katie lets out a long sigh.* " Than something your dad dosent know is Jason never told me Reese wanted us to be partners. I dident know anything about it I was in the dark. But I happend to over hear Jason and Con talking. I guess Reese had called him to ask if Jason and I had come to a conclution. So...I heard Jason and Con talking and Jason dident want me as a partner cuz I liked him and he thought it was unhealthy so on and so forth. I felt pritty horrable. A few days before that I had gotten a letter from my dad who I hadent hurd from in many many years. I had so much pain inside me from that and what I just hurd I kind of burst. I ended up jumping on the porch slaping Jason he want to swing back I caught his hand and slamed him against the wall and I thretend him telling him if he ever went to swing at me again I would put him in the hospetal myself. I'm asamed by the way I acted but I hurt. That night I ended up calling you dad, asked him it wouldent work with Jason and I and if he needed any help here. a few days later I left. I hadent talked to Jason again untill he came back to TJY. I was pritty hurt by what happend and burned. So I locked those feeling away. I dident want to be hurt again and now, I see Jason as a friend. My heart dosent want to be hurt again so I built walls. Its not the best way to deal with something and sooner or later its going to come crashing down. But its just...something I do." *Again Katie stops talking for a moment catching her breath and trying to work everything out. Stoping she turns to Wyatt and looks at him. Wondering what he is think. Katie wonders if he will run the other way or stick there.* "And now last but certnly not least we have you. You have been nice to me Wyatt since I have been at TJY. I your, fun, very handsome, charming, and someone I like being around. I offten though myself I'd like us to become more than friends, but I wanted to take it slow as well. I dident want to rush anything and lose another friend. Being scared in the past makes you look at things differntly." *Katie stops for a moment something entering her mind. Something was wrong, something had happend. Trying to sort though her mind for what happend the feeling pass. Everything is fine and once again Katies mind is blank of anything being wrong. Once again Katie starts to talk to Wyatt* "So all in all...I feel the same as you do Wyatt. I'd like to pursew something more with you. I really think we hit it off together. And I like to see our relationship grow." *Katie smiles though she is a bit nervice on everything she has told Wyatt.*

*Angel enters Lukes bunk and puts her hands on her hips.* "Dont you smile at me and act like nothing wrong Mr.. When are you gonna stop that and LET me help you. Your stuck with my for the rest of you life you better get use to my help now." *Walking over to the bed Angel pulls Lukes cover off his legs. Reaching down she starts to rub them.* " Luke have you been doing your exersises? Your Muscles are tighting and the bloodflow is no good. You need to keep doing them Luke." *Angel continues to rub Lukes legs loosing them up.*

*As Rosetta sits with Mick she takes a sip of her Coffee and opens the folder showing Mick.* "This is a file on Sam. I was looking through it last night after we got home. It shows a bunch of information about when she was taken, where she grew up. It also says she was married and somewhere out there Mick you have a nephew. There are a bunch more papers here to but I dident get a chanse to look at them yet."

Shot

Jeff grins as he takes charge of BJ, challenging him to a footrace to the mess hall.

Luke looks up quickly at the knock, knowing it must be Angel. He reaches over his head to pull himself up into half a sitting position. “It’s open,” he calls, and places a smile on his face.

Wyatt chuckles, trying to put Katie at ease, and follows her outside. Once there, he takes a deep breath of fresh air and simply walks silently for several minutes before saying what’s on his mind. “Katie…I know you must think that I’ve questioned your integrity and Jason’s too. And I would be dishonest to say that was not true. Though I hope that my human nature has been wrong. And…” he pauses, keeping his eye ahead on their route along the sidewalk. “…I suppose the reason that I hope my nature is wrong is because I like you, Katie.” He throws her a sidelong glance, sure that this news was not new to her, though disliking his own speech, and continues to walk. “I’m glad Reese took you on…you’re a hard worker and a genuine friend. And…” He can’t help but shake his head at himself. He couldn’t deny that he liked Katie…could he deny himself pursuing a relationship if he thought there was a chance she would one day share his Christian beliefs? Was it fair to her to start something he might not want to finish? Yet…if one was not willing to take risks, where was life? “…I guess I’ve wondered about our relationship and what it meant. I’m honored to be your friend…though I can’t say that I have no desire to have something deeper with you…nor would probably any other man, seeing a damsel as pretty as yourself.” He tosses her a wink. “I don’t mean to be so forward, but I guess this morning’s events prompted it.” He stops, reaching out to stop her as well so he can see Katie’s face. “I take nothing quickly, let alone relationships, and could hardly jump into anything without taking a slow pace, so don’t think I mean to go from zero to sixty in one day… One might say I like to ‘take things slow.’ …I suppose just I wonder if you feel the same way about being more than friends…” He searches her eyes. “I don’t want to ruin what we have if it’s not what you want, nor do I want to come between you and Jason if there really is something there.”

“Jason!”

Jason’s head shoots up from its resting place on his desk, and he sees Reese standing in the door. “Aw, man, this aint’ good.”

Reese shakes his head. “You still look like crap. Go home, Jason and get some sleep before you bungle something up and ruin your own reputation around here for efficiency.”

Jason gives him a wry grin. “I have no vehicle.”

“Susanne is running an errand. I’m sure she’d take you.”

Jason wants to argue, but his body begs him to give in. “Alright,” he relents, shutting down his computer. “If you insist. Though I hardly think that falling asleep at my desk is call to send me home.”

Reese rolls his eyes in humor at Jason’s dry sarcasm. “Get some sleep. And see me in two days.”

… “You can drop me off here,” Jason directs Susanne to stop at the end of his street. “I can walk a couple blocks.”

“Alright. See you in a couple days.”

“Sure. Thanks for the lift.” Jason exits and lets Trooper out of the back seat. As Susanne drives away, he heads down the sidewalk, yawning, and keeping his eyes to the ground, wanting only his bed. As he’s passing a yard, a shot suddenly rings out, a bullet whizzing past Jason’s head and lodging into a tree trunk only inches away.
Fully alert in an instant, Jason drops to his stomach, drawing his side arm and commanding Trooper to drop as well.
No more sounds…no movement. Jason’s eyes sweep the area. Where had the shot come from? There were too many hiding places with so many houses around. It had sounded like a rifle. His eyes search his surroundings, but he sees nothing. His ears pick up the sound of an engine starting, and then squealing tires the next block over out of sight. Was it his assailant?
After several minutes of quiet, Jason finally dares to stand and holster his gun. Taking no chances, he cuts across yards and takes to the cover of shadows and bushes before reaching his house. Letting himself in, he lets Trooper go first, though nothing seems out of place.
Great…now he was pretty sure the earlier events were connected somehow. But who would be after him? And why? For now he was safe…the doors were locked, and Trooper was his alarm. He would sleep and worry more tomorrow.

"Talk" Busness

*Angel nods to Jeff helping BJ put his shirt on.* "Can you take BJ to the mess hall than to get something to eat." *After leaving BJ with Jeff Angel heads to Lukes bunk and knocks on the door.*

*Katie feels a bit of disapointment as she was looking forword to going out with Wyatt. But I guess going to the Cafe was better than nothing. Katie holds her smile and nods.* " Sounds like a plane to me. Though I have to addmit I dont like the sound of this "talk" busness." *Katie cant help but laugh at the way she just made herself sound so stupid.* " Come on you lets go. I am starving." *Katie heads down the hall walking slow so Wyatt can catch up.*

Walk?

Mick shakes his head dismally. “He won’t speak to me now.” He sighs deeply, trying not to think about it more for now. “What are these files you got here? Find anything interesting?”

Jeff heads to the mess hall from helping in the barn, and stops by Angel’s office for a moment. After knocking and seeing her, he offers a smile. “Morning. Just thought if you were gonna come to the mess hall, you might want to stop by and see Luke first. He told me not to tell you, but I couldn’t feel right about that. He can’t even get out of bed this morning, and I thought it best to tell you.”

Jason nods to Katie, a smile on his lips. “Thanks Katie…for everything.” He watches her go, then sighs, reaching into his desk drawer for a candy bar. He really should go eat lunch, but his stomach isn’t up for it. For now he just needed sugar.
He chews thoughtfully, replaying the morning’s events. Curious, he dials his own home phone, and receives a busy signal. Odd. The phone couldn’t be off the hook – he’d never picked it up the evening before, even when Katie had called, and she’d gotten through to the answering machine.
His senses are heightened as he thinks of Hal’s truck. Had Jason’s phone line been tampered with? Had the brakes purposely been tampered with?
He shakes his head. He can’t jump to conclusions. Surely neither instance was done in malice, nor were they connected. It wasn’t worth bringing to the attention of anyone.

Wyatt looks up and leans his elbows on his desk, giving Katie a grin. Did she mean to flirt with him, or was it just her desirable personality that triggered his want to be with her? He was troubled though…had he received the real story of her and Jason? Did it matter? He knew he couldn’t take things very far with Katie anyway…he’d made a commitment to himself. And yet…if he pulled away, there might not be any hope of bringing Katie to Christ. Perhaps he was supposed to take part in that plan. But he had to tread lightly…and he had to be completely honest with her lest any misunderstandings occur.
Standing, he closes his file folder. Exiting his cubicle, he holds out his hand. “How about we take a stroll down to the café? It’ll give us some time to talk on the way.”

Lunch

*Rosetta makes her way to the mess hall with a file in her hand. After entering Rosetta goes to the kitchen and grabs a cup of coffee. Heading over to Mick she sits down next to him placing the file on the table.* " Morning you. Any progress with Dylan?"

*As Katie works at her desk the time seems to fly by. Finishing up the last of her work Katie shuts her computer off and puts her files away. Standing her puts up the typed papers and heads to Reese's office passing Jason's along the way she pops her head in.* "Hey J. I'm gonne turn these paper into Reese and than I am heading out for the day. Thx for the ride in and if you need me give a yell." *Katie gives a smile to Jason.* " Have a good day J." *Making her way from Jason office she leave her paper with Susane than makes her way to Wyatt's desk. Leaning aganst it Katie teases.* "So are we gonna have lunch or are you gonna stay knee deep in paper work all day." *Katie smiles at Wyatt.*

Revealed

“Hey, Hotshot, Reese tell you about the truck?”

Jason looks up from his desk quickly as Hal enters. “Oh yeah. Whatever you need.” He chuckles. “It’s your truck.”

Hal grins. “Yeah, well I also said it was yours as long as you needed it. Ends up my sister needs to move some stuff today though…thought I’d take it up there now and have it back here by the time you went home.”

“Sure. If I need to catch a ride with Scott or something too, I will, so don’t sweat it if you don’t make it.”

“Alright. See you later.” Hal makes his exit, stepping over Trooper on his way.

Wyatt studies Katie’s eyes for the truth, wanting to believe her. But he was confused. It just felt strange, despite Katie’s words. What had she meant about Jason? In an effort to trust her though, he forces a smile. “Okay. If you want to grab a burger or something, swing by my desk about noon. Then if you’re done for the day, I’ll drop you back off at Laura’s before coming back.” He doesn’t linger, but turns to head his own direction.

Half an hour later, Wyatt taps his pencil on his desk, still unable to get his thoughts on his work. He knew he shouldn’t feel anything…Jason was his friend, and that’s all Katie was too…really… but his confusion remained. What had Katie meant when she’d said Jason wasn’t doing well? He’d seemed fine before he’d left the game table to head home the night before….
Finally making up his mind, Wyatt rises and heads to Jason’s office.

Jason is sifting through paperwork and is startled by Wyatt’s form in the doorway. “Oh, hi. Whatcha need?”

Wyatt shrugs and leans on the doorframe, hooking his hands in his pockets. “Nothing really…Just…curious about something.”

Jason’s eyes narrow slightly at his friend’s tone. Something in his gut tells him this has something to do with the brief exchange earlier. Did Wyatt care that Katie was with him all night? And if he did…was there more there than Jason knew about? And if there was…should he care? Shoving the rampant thoughts to the back of his mind, he looks at him expectantly. “What is it?”

“Katie said you weren’t doing well last night…guess I just wondered what that meant…”

Jason’s jaw tightens. His past wasn’t a secret…but his current struggles were not widely-spread. As far as he knew, Carter and Reese were the only ones back here who knew that he’d been having problems dealing with the past. Con, Austin and Katie were the only other three who were aware of it. “It’s just a personal issue.” He tries to shrug it off. “I’m alright.”

Wyatt lifts an eyebrow. “You think I’m gonna be satisfied with that? What is it, Jason? If I can help in any way, you know I would.”

“I got some problems, okay?” Jason doesn’t meet Wyatt’s eye anymore, as heat rises to his face. “Just flares up every once in a while.”

Wyatt doesn’t give up. “Like what? What aren’t you telling me?”

Jason rolls a pen between his fingers, unsure if he really wants to be having this conversation or not. But if he doesn’t let Wyatt in now, he’d probably find out some other way. “Look, the past caught up with me, and I’m having to deal with it. Some days are harder than others.”

Wyatt straightens just a little, suddenly realizing that it might have been more serious than he thought. “You mean…when you were a kid?”

Jason finally looks back up at him. “Yeah.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, well…it’s better than it was.”

Wyatt thinks for several moments, still unsure about all this. “And…Katie can sense your feelings…so she knew you were having a hard time…and…. She helps you by….?”

Jason can sense the implications in Wyatt’s tone, and is immediately on the defense. “I don’t know…she just…calms me down.” He can feel his face growing hotter. “She knows how to talk me down from a flashback or nightmare.”

“Hmm.” Wyatt wants to believe him, though he finds it just a little hard. “So…her all night presence is required for you to get through it?”

Jason rolls his eyes. “I think this conversation is over, Wyatt. My past bothers me, Katie helps, end of story.”

“I just –”

“No.” Jason shakes his head. “You want to make assumptions, be my guest. Katie’s my friend. Period.”

“That’s it, huh?” Wyatt eyes Jason. “You’re telling me there’s nothing more between you than that?”

“Yes. No. I mean…” Jason glares at him. “Give it a rest. I have nothing more to say.”

“Alright.” Wyatt holds up his hand, not sure he believed Jason’s words when they didn’t match his red face and shifting eyes. “Didn’t want to start anything…I’ll see you later.”

Jason watches him walk away, then flops back in his chair, tossing his pen onto his desk. This wasn’t exactly how he’d planned his day.
Susanne’s voice comes over his phone’s intercom. “Jase?”

“Yeah.”

“Reese wanted me to tell you that Hal just called. He was in an accident.”

“What?” Jason is quick to pick up the receiver. “What happened?”

“He’s alright, but he said the breaks went out on the truck. He wound up going off the road into a ditch. Got a couple bruises, but he’ll be fine. The truck’s already on its way to the repair shop.”

Jason’s eyes widen. The breaks had been fine earlier. “Wow. Okay. Thanks.”

Wyatt plops down at his desk again, not feeling any better than he had before talking to Jason – maybe even worse. Did he really want more answers? Did he really want to dig further?

Mick eases down at a mess hall table, coffee mug in hand, one eye on Dylan who is sulking in the corner by himself, shrugging off Jade’s company.

Luke lies in bed and looks at the clock. It was late. He needed to get up. But his legs just wouldn’t function. They were stiff and sore, his lower back aching. Yesterday had been a good day…apparently today wasn’t going to be so great. He tries to roll over and get up, but his legs just won’t support him, and he flops back down with a moan. Giving up, he pulls his blanket back over himself. Maybe if he waited just a little longer, his muscles would loosen up.

Explanation

*Katie nods to Jason* " Ok see ya." *Katie turns back to Wyatt and smiles.* " Sorry I gave you a scare. Jason wasent doing well last night and I tryed calling him. When I dident get an answer from him I myself got more nervouse about it. So I went over to make sure he was ok." *Katie shakes her head not relizing the look on Wyatt's face, But being able to tell Wyatt is not happy.* " Come to find out, he triped over a table." *Katie rolls her eyes* " and messed up his knee AGAIN. So anyways...I made sure he was going to be ok and thats that." *Katie streaches* " So again I am sorry I had you worryed." *Katie places her hand on Wyatt's arm.* "Wyatt, you dont have to say anything I can see it in your eyes. Jason and I are just friends. I care for him as a friend. " *Katie turns to walk away but turnsback around to look Wyatt in the eyes* " I came in to do some left over paper work. I am not gonna be here long if you still want to grab lunch. I would like that. Dosent look like Scott is here eather for me to take him to help me look at a car so I am pritty much free." *Katie smiles.*

Search

Jason chuckles and puts his glass in the sink. “Alright. Come on then.” Outside he whistles for Trooper who comes bounding around the house. Once in the truck, Jason rubs his chin, only now realizing he hadn’t taken the time to shave. He must look a sight. “Reese is going to think I really did get run over by a truck,” he muses under his breath. Giving Katie a sidelong glance, he wonders how she could keep herself looking like she did without even had time to change – she looked just as good now as she had the night before.

Starting up the truck, Jason sighs and backs out of the driveway. It doesn’t take them long to get to TJY, and as they enter the floor, they’re met by Reese. “Are you two okay? Jason, you look like crap.”

Jason smirks at him. “Gee, thanks.”

“No, really, are you okay?” Reese looks at Katie. “Wyatt called a bit ago. Said he’d stopped by Laura’s on his way in, but you’d disappeared sometime earlier and Laura didn’t even know when.” He shifts his gaze to Jason. “Wyatt tried calling your place to see if you’d heard anything, but when he didn’t get an answer, he called here. He’s been out looking for Katie for half an hour. Got concerned it might be connected with some of the cases they’ve been on lately.”

Jason’s eyes widen. “Strange – I never got any calls…” He shakes his head, deciding to check his phone later. “Well get a hold of him and tell him to come in. Katie was at my place most of the night.”

Wyatt stops behind them, just in time to hear Jason’s statement. He clears his throat to make his presence known, and looks back and forth between Jason and Katie for just a moment. He doesn’t want assumptions to get the best of his judgment, but it’s a little bit hard. He forces a small smile for Katie though. “Hey, glad you’re alright. Kinda gave us a scare. Around here we don’t take disappearances lightly.”

Reese nods. “Well, as long as we’re all okay, I’m going back to my office. Oh, and Jason, Hal said to talk to him. He’ll need his truck back for an errand tomorrow – something about his sister moving.”

“Alright.” Jason waves Reese off, then nods to his own office, speaking to Katie. “Catch you later.” He looks briefly at Wyatt. “Mornin’. I’ll be down on the range later if you want to go around.”

“Yeah…sure…” Wyatt watches him leave, then turns back to Katie. “Uh…though maybe I’d catch you for lunch today since you weren’t going to be working, but…maybe some other time.”

Looming in the Darkness

*As the ground underneath Katies head moves she become awake enough to know whats going on but still asleep. Feeling Jason's hand on her shoulder she lifts her head trying to get her barings on where she is. Katie sits up on the coutch and see Jason disapear down the hall. For a moment Katie remainds confused but than remembers the night before. she must have fallen asleep on Jason. A big of embarssment builds inside Katie. Standing she streaches and heads into the kitchen to grab a glass of OJ. Emotions run through Katies mind. She had again fallen asleep with Jason. Katie cant help but feel she sould have moved herself to the floor to sleep. As she runs through avent in her mind Wyatt pops up. A strange feeling comes over her as if she felt like she did something wrong. Why was this feeling connected to Wyatt's though. Katie wasent together with him or with Jason. They were friends. But a feeling as if something was going to backfire lingers in her mind. Shaking the feeling for now Katie smiles as Jason enters the kitchen. If you dont mind I think I am going to head to TJY with you. I have some paper work I need to finish up and I probley should. I want to look into geting those wings too and I need to talk to Scott. Sooo....I guess since your going that way." *Kaite grins.*

Late

Five-thirty, Jason’s alarm goes off in his bedroom, unheard from the living room. It’s over hour before Jason opens one eye groggily, trying to get his bearings. Couch…living room…the night comes back to him slowly. Starting to stretch, he suddenly feels the warm weight on his leg and remembers that he’s not alone. Katie.

Opening both eyes, he takes a deep breath to yawn and stretch. There was light coming in through the windows, and Trooper was standing, ready to be let out. Jason’s eyes shift to the side and he squints at the clock on the far wall. “Oh, no.”

His body feels as if it’s been run over by a truck, and his mind functions as if it’s in a fog. But he should have left for work half an hour ago. It was almost seven. “Dang,” he mumbles, throwing off his blanket. He slowly sits up to swing his legs over the side of the couch, Katie’s head winding up in his lap. “Hey, sleepy.” His hand hovers over her soft hair before he thinks better of it, and moves to simply give her shoulder a light pat. “Sorry, Hero, but Reese is gonna kill me if I get in any later.” He slides off the couch, making sure Katie sits up rather than letting her head drop.

Limping to the door to let Trooper out, he calls over his shoulder. “There’s OJ in the fridge. Help yourself, Katie.” Heading back down the hall, his knee feels like it’s on fire, and his mind just isn’t working any faster despite his attempts to fully wake up. After a quick shower, Jason finds an old t-shirt and some jeans that he thinks are clean before heading to the kitchen to get himself some orange juice. His eyes are bloodshot, underlined with dark circles, though he does his best to force himself to appear alert. He grabs the keys off the counter while chugging down the juice. “Want me to drop you back off at Laura’s on my way?”

Sleep

*As Katie sits on the other end of the coutch she stays awake for a while longer hoping she can help Jason sleep in peace. Finally Katie starts to drift off noding in and out of sleep while siting up. Finally looking around for a pillow she finds non. Curling up in alittle ball Katie rests her head on Jasons legs pulling part of the blanket up over herself and drifting off to sleep.*

2/23/08

Early morning

With just a bit of trouble, and leaning some on Katie, Jason is able to scoot up onto the couch, settling back with a sigh. He chuckles a little and nods. “Mom used to have night lights all over the place and I thought she was silly.”

He looks ahead into the darkness as Katie speaks, admitting only to himself that despite any embarrassment, he’d missed her helping him, too. He hated the mental torment he experienced, but it had provided the two of them with something only they could share.

When there’s a pause, Jason can feel Katie looking at him, and he turns his head to barely make out her eyes in the dark. A grin plays at the corner of his mouth. “Unless you can get me a new batch of memories, no.” He gives her shoulder a light squeeze. “But thanks. I appreciate all you’ve done.” He reaches over to the end of the couch to grab a couple blankets and tosses one on Katie’s lap. “Now, you might not have to work in the morning, but I do, and the next couple hours are ‘bout all I’ve got.” He knew he should go change his clothes and even get into his own bed, but at this point, his body was too exhausted to attempt getting up. Instead, he simply leans over to curl up on the couch, tucking his bare feet in next to the cushion Katie’s sitting on, and pulling his blanket up over himself.

The rest of the night isn’t much easier on Jason. Despite the reprieve, the terrifying images continue to haunt his mind. Sleep comes only in minutes at a time, and each time he wakes, it’s to a racing pulse and shaking hands. Only at five in the morning does he finally drift off into a sleep deep enough to hold him in rest.

Laura yawns and stretches before forcing herself out of bed, almost stepping on Henry who whines for his breakfast. “Alright, alright, come on.” She trudges to the kitchen to give him some food before heading for the shower. Something on the table catches her eye though, and she stops, picking up Katie’s not. “Strange…” She didn’t even know when Katie had left. Oh, well. She shrugs. If it had been an emergency, surely Katie would have woken her.

Its good

*Katie lets out a laugh as she trys to help Jason up. She was happy Jason broke the silence and the tention. Katie had felt is akwardness start to build. An Akwarkness she was not ready for. Katie was happy for Jason and his friendship. She has felt lost without his friendship.* "Maybe next time you should keep a small light on so YOU dont kill yourself eh." *For a moment everything is silenet than Katie turns to Jason.* " It was good being able to help you Jason. I missed it. Even if you feel embarssed. We all need help in our lifes. With something like this I wouldent blame you for having a hard time with this day. I probley would too." *Kaite smiles. As Trooper licks her hang Katie giggles again.* " Well I think your dog likes me. I must not be all that bad." *As Katie glances at Jason again she cant make our his silowet in the moonlight. He had changed since she last saw him. He was even more charming now. Katie was glad it was dark in the room as her cheeks turned red.* "Can I get you anything J?"

*As Rosetta flips through the files more. her eyes slowly start to close. Decieding it best she head to bed herself Rosetta puts the file back and makes a mentil note to look more in the morning and shair with Mick what she found out. Rosetta exits the mess all and shuts the light off. Once geting to her house and cralws back into bed and instintly falls asleep.*
