Float

As Gunner brings his hand up to meet hers Bree cant feel something inside her jump. It was almost like an electric jolt, with a million and one strange feelings passing thought her at once. She new what some of them ment though she had never felt them before, but she wondered if it was only in her head.

Feeling Gunner's own heart beating in seemed to be in toon with her own. Racing, and making her tremble so softly. These emotions felt nice but at the same time they startled her.

"A tire iron, that had to hurt."

Bree's words were still a soft whisper looking into Gunner's eyes it was so much differnt now. They were the same eyes but they seemed to hold so much more.

Feeling Gunner draw close to her Bree thought her heart was going to leap out of her chest. Gunner's breath brushing across her skin send chills up her spin as she anticipated what would come next even though she had no idea how to do it.

But than seeing Gunner draw away again, Bree couldnt help the small disapointment that seemed to hit her heart though she had no idea why. She didnt even know how to kiss someone. Why did it seem to disappoint her so.

Feeling a little heat come to Bree's face again She looks down at Gunner's hand on top of hers and moving just fingers just slightly on his chest Bree liked how his hand looks on her.

Looking up deep into Gunner's eyes again it still felt like all air was gone from the room but she had to speak anyways.

"I guess you probley should so your not late. Maybe we can meet up for a float later or something."

It was him, not me

Gunner's eyebrows lift a little as he sees how red Bree's face is. Then seeing her eyes move about, he suddenly realizes just what happened. And he felt stupid. He'd embarrassed her. She was probably upset and just afraid to tell him so. He hadn't meant to.... he hadn't thought... Well, that was the trouble - he hadn't thought at all. Here he was, running around not fully clothed, and hadn't even considered the fact that there was a woman in the house. He was just so comfortable with Bree that he hadn't thought a thing about it.

As his folded shirt slides off onto the couch, his brain tells him to get up, finish dressing and go to work. But he's stopped by Bree's hand. It was amazing how soft a touch she had... how light her fingers were, yet they held the power to keep him there. His pulse speeds up as an odd tingle shoots from every movement of Bree's fingers. He was sure as her hands moved over his chest that she could feel his heart beating rapidly, and his face grows warm.

He feels frozen in place, suddenly everything else forgotten. Work, what time it was, breakfast... all that he saw were Bree's eyes that gradually moved up to meet his. And suddenly, they were not the same eyes he had seen before. No... they were so much deeper... so much clearer, as if he could see the stars right through them.

Blinking, he snaps himself out of the stare, almost choking on the breath he'd been holding. These feelings were completely foreign to him... they were nothing like he'd ever had before, and they confused him. He thought he knew what they meant, but was it true?

Swallowing hard, he reaches up to place his palm over her hand, holding it in place. He could feel his own heart now, racing like mad. He knew now she could feel it too, and wondered if it frightened her as much as it did him.

"That was from a tire iron," he comments softly, his eyes still on hers. "Arresting a guy who hid in an auto shop... week in the hospital for that one."

His pulse still quickened, he feels drawn towards Bree for reasons he couldn't explain. Still holding her hand to his chest, his face moves ever so slightly until he could feel her breath on his skin. His eyes move down to her lips, then back up again and he felt just like he had the other night. But just like the other night, he felt horribly inept. Straightening again, he tries to speak, though his voice seemed to have left him. "I... I have to go to work."

O.O WARNING THIS IS NOT FOR THE WEAK OF HEART O.O

Staring at Kip still trying to decided if he was ok or not Karla takes a few steps twards him as he sits on the curb. Looking to Rin who was anxtous that his master was going near a stranger she raises her hands to him signaling him to wait.

"I might be a shy person, but I dont like just leaving someone to die. Anyways Rin never would of let me just pass by without making sure you were ok."

Squaring down a little to look at Kip in the yes she could tell something was wrong. Maybe he was just having a bad day but his face was red, and he just didnt look good at all.

"You sure you dont need anything I can help with?"

"Some people are just stupid and think they own the road. Sorry they messed your bike up. Where ya headed and I will take you all the way."

Waiting for Ty to put his bike in the back and than get into the veical finally the woman drives off. Silent for a little while a few glances where stolen at her passanger. He looked about the same age as herself and he had some good looks on him two. That was always a pulse.

"Well, since your ridding with me I guess you might as well know my name right? I'm Libby."

Feeling Gunner sit down next to her Bree continues to look at the blank TV but in its reflection is was Gunner she was not still looking at. His shirt off still, and much closer now that she could feel the tingles run up her back.

Continuing to look at the reflection Bree battles with her own mind not replying to Gunner right away. This was crazy was why simply seeing Gunner without a shirt on making her feel a crazy buzz and a heart she never had before.

Turning to Gunner again Bree can feel her face is still red but she didnt want Gunner to think something really was wrong.

"No...just a hot flash."

Was all she could manage to whisper. Her eyes move from Gunner's face down to his chest maping his muscles with her eyes until she looked up back up into his eyes. Her own face still very read but her eyes held something different. Before Gunner hand been handsome to her, but now...now she thought a whole lot more that she never though her mind could ever think.

Going to look away again two scars catch Bree's eyes. One on Gunner's bicept and one on his chest. Not even relizing why she was doing it Bree reaches a shaky hand out and ran it up Gunner's arm till it reaches the scar. Her touch soft even though her fingers trembled a little. Running the tips over the scar for a moment before letting her hand go over his shoulder, and down his chest till her fingers reaches the other scar. The tips of her fingers running over the scar from left to right. Feeling the soft skin under her fingers.

Looking up at Gunner in the eyes again Bree's eyes hold wonder to what they were from but it felt like all the air had been sucked out of her to even whisper any words.

Second time

As Gunner's tying his shoes, he suddenly gets a strange feeling, not hearing Bree respond right away. Glancing up, he sees her turn and sit down, staring at a blank television. He blinks in confusion, wondering what on earth... her stammering response makes him even more confused.

Standing up, he slings his shirt over his shoulder and wanders over to where she's sitting, still clueless as to what had happened, and eases down next to her. "You... won't eat anybody out of house and home by eating breakfast," he reasons.

Cocking his head, he studies Bree's red face. "You alright?"

Kip is a little startled - usually no one approached him in this area of town. Straightening just as little, he turns his eyes to see the pretty young woman. Shaking his head a little, he waves off the water. "No... thanks though." He'd been stupid to run as hard as he had, but that's what he usually ended up doing when he was frustrated or upset. It kept him from lashing out at his friends.

Sinking down to sit on the curb, his pulse still raced, his breathing still heavy as his lungs tried to provide enough air. As sweaty as he was, he knew he needed to get moving again before he got cold, but he just needed another minute or two.

"No, I need more than a bottle of water," he comments ruefully. "Appreciate the thought though. Most people would rather watch me from a block away and call 911 if they saw me pass out."

Ty stops and turns to the strange pickup, lifting his eyebrows. Looking through the window at the young woman, he's ready to turn her offer down. He didn't usually accept offers for rides.... but come on.... she hardly looked dangerous. And he really didn't want to walk all the way back home.

Sighing, he nods. "Thanks... not much for walking today."

Getting his bike put in the back, he then slides in the passenger side. "Just taking me a few blocks is going to help. I wasn't planning on walking today." He rolls his eyes in disgust, turning his arm so he could get a better look at his long scrape. "Didn't plan on this either. That's the second time someone's pushed me off the road."

Rin

Giving a nod and putting her own arm around Scott's back to exit the air port Hope was proud to be on his arm. At the mention of food Hope's own stomach gives a growl reminding her she hadnt had anything all day eather.

"We sure can. I could use some food myself. Name the place and there we go."

Hope smile spread from ear to ear on her face. She was so proud of Scott and all he had been accomplishing. He was standing on his own to feet, and really doing well. The sparkle in her eyes told him that much.

Raising her eyebrow at the mention to the bike shop that had cars in it too Ryan thought it a bit off. That was clean across town almost an hour drive.

"You mean Roth's old mans shop? Seems like an odd place to go visit."

Giving a shuge Ryan continues eating letting it go for now. Taking a bit of her food and just savoring the tast Ryan listens to the rest of the conversation around her.

She couldnt help but be a little glad Leo was staying another night. It was nice having so much company in her apt.

Coming up the sidewalk with a rather large Huskie a tall blond jogs up the side walk. It was still rather early, and she was half a sleep still. Slowing as she see someone hunched over standing on the side work she was a bit worried. Hope she didnt startle him she looks at the dog.

"Rin sit, stay."

Obeying his master Rin sits on the sidewalk and just looks at his master and the stranger on the sidewalk.

Stepping a little closer the woman takes the earphones out. Giving a shy smile to Kip her voice was a whisper showing she was a little on the shy side.

"Hi, are you ok? I have some water if you need it."

The woman holds out the unopened bottle of water as she watchs Kip pant for air. He looked as though he ran to hard, to fast.

Music on full blast the thin, red haired driver drives down the gravel road. Seeing a pick up truck quiet a ways in front of her she cant help but see the person get pushed off the road as well. Continuing to drive a little slowly to see if the person got up.

Finally seeing a little moving she waits for just a moment before driving off to keep herself out of trouble once again. But seeing the rather cute boy start to walk the girl pulls the truck along side of TY rolling down her window.

She had been seen once before a while ago as Ty was coming out of court but since than she hadent seen him. Her honey color eyes just looked back at Ty with question.

"You look like you could use a lift. I am going the same way you are if you would like a ride."

Feeling the jolt from the person next to her on the couch it take a moment for Bree to remember where she was untill she hears Gunner's mumbling voice she remembers. As he disappears down the hall Bree sits up on the couch giving a stretch.

Standing Bree looks around trying to find her shoes. Finding them she goes to reach for them. Not wanting to make Gunner feel bad for having to leave so fast she figured she would see herself out. But hearing Gunner coming back into the room Bree looks up. As if stunned Bree just stairs at Gunner with out his shirt on. Words seemed to get caught in her throat as her heart started racing really fast and it felt like her stomack was having convolutions from fluttering so much.

Feeling like her knees had just been taking out from underneath her Bree sinks down on the couch again forgetting about her shoes she wanted to put on. This feeling was nothing she had felt before and she could feel the color coming to her face worse than it ever had been before. Turning her head away quickly Bree just stairs infront of her at the tv that was turned off.

"I...wont stay long while your...gone..."

Bree felt stupid stumbling over her words but she felt so breathless and like she was burning up.

"..I dont want to eat you out of shirt and home. I mean house and home."

Letting her emotions show strongly Katie smiles as she steps onto the TJY floor. It was good to be back. Katie had missed it here. Getting Jason's message Katie dosnt reply right away heading across the main floor and to Jason's office.

Poking her head into the office a smile spreads on her face as she see Jason. He was a sigh for sore eyes even though she hadnt seen him all that long ago it felt like forever.

I have no idea what your talking about.

Letting her emotions have a big of humor in them a little laugh escapes her lips as she enters into the office the rest of the way closing the door softly behind her. Coming over to Jason's desk Katie leans down over him slightly leaning in close.

"I missed you so much. It feel like forever since I saw you last."

Pressing her lips aganst Jason's Katie lets the moment take over just enjoying it and letting the emotions wash over them and devour them in the moment.

Morning again

Scott returns Hope's hug before drawing away and adjusting his backpack on his shoulder. "Flight was horrible. But it was worth it, having someone as special as you come pick me up."

Giving her a smile, he puts an arm around her as they head for the exit. "I know it's late but... mind if we grab a bite to eat? I missed supper."

"Well, I started out at the used bike place downtown, then progressed to McVane's up on 8th Street. And...." Eli takes a bit of food, taking time to chew. "...there was this other place, I forgot what it was called, but he had cars too."

Switching topics, Eli expertly shifts the conversation away from himself and back to Leo, who he convinces to stay one more night at least until he was feeling better. It seemed a little odd he was so insistent, but Leo gives in. The couch was comfortable enough and the company was nice.

Jade has never been more thankful for phone calls. Though extremely worried about her brother, she's glad when Mick gets a call from Reese and has to talk for a long time - it gave her time to slip away from supper, see Dan in the barn and head to bed before her father had time to chew her out for anything. Maybe tomorrow she would finally ask him if she could stay. Maybe...

The breakfast table was huge. And even though Erik, Twila, Kyle and Alice sat together at one end, it still seemed enormous, especially when the food was served. Anything they wanted... literally.

Kyle gives Alice a sidelong glance, his eyes twinkling. This was just way too much fun. He moves his foot to tap hers under the table.

Twila takes a bite of her bagel and looks to Erik. "So where's Kip anyway? He's usually the first one up."

"He was." Erik nods. "He went for a run."

Twila pauses her chewing and quirks an eyebrow. "He only runs when he's upset."

"Usually."

"What happened?"

Erik shakes his head. "Little disagreement. Everything will be fine."

...Already five miles away, Kip slows and stops, his lungs feeling as though they were on fire. Pausing at the quiet street, he bends over to catch his breath, sweating out his frustrations.

The loud pickup truck with the arrogant driver would be any bicyclist's nightmare. Today was no exception. The need for a muffler drowned out the mocking laughter, but the damage was done. The shoulder of the road wasn't wide here, and the gravel was unpleasant to ride on anyway. The extra wind gust and threat of being hit was enough to send Ty skidding on the rocks, then going head over heels, right over his handlebars.

Landing hard, he could feel his arm being scrapped all the way from his wrist to his elbow. Rolling to a stop, he just lies still, dazed for several moments before growling and sitting up. Testing out his limbs, he discovers nothing is broken, but his arm stung like crazy.

Great. Just great. This was all he needed. If he had a car to drive, he wouldn't be the idiot right now. But just this morning had been his fifth attempt to get his permit. And it had been failure number five as well.

Getting back to his bike, he finds a bent wheel rim. He'd be walking the rest of the way. Giving an extra growl, he sets out towards home, ignoring the pain in his arm, and trying to decide whether he would actually go back to the DMV ever again or not. Five failures wasn't much to motivate him. He couldn't read well enough to take the written test, plain and simple. And it wasn't going to change. He couldn't do it.

Someone stamping on the apartment above is loud enough to finally rouse Gunner. Groaning a little, he pries his eyes open, squinting in the small amount of light that is coming in through the living room window.

Smacking the bad taste from his mouth, he starts to stretch, only to realize that his isn't the only body on the couch. It's then that he remembers he's not alone. And not only is he not alone, but it was late.

"Ohhhhhh crap." Getting off the couch quickly, he unintentionally gives Bree a jolt. "Work... I gotta get to work... Reese is gonna kill me." Stumbling down the hall, he heads for the shower. Reese would have gladly given him a few days off, but after Gunner had insisted on staying, Reese had put him on a team to look for Dylan, and they were to meet about it this morning.

Just ten minutes later, Gunner is coming back into the living room. His socks and jeans were on, but his t-shirt hung from his teeth as his hands were busy loosening the laces of his boots as he heads for a chair.

Flopping down, he sets his shirt aside so he can put on his boots while mumbling to Bree. "I gotta get going." This morning felt strange. It was odd having Bree there with him now, even though last night, he would have given anything to have her stay. The night had cleared his mind, and the fear had subsided at least for a while, leaving him just a tad embarrassed. "Um, help yourself to anything in the kitchen or whatever," he offers. He hated to just run out, but that's what he got for sleeping too late.

Jason is sitting at his desk, and perks up at the familiar feeling that was growing stronger. Katie had arrived to work.

Leaning back in his chair, he smiles.

So are you gonna come in here so I can thank you properly for the gift you left on my doorstep?

Odd

Waiting Kyle leave the room Alice stands and walks over to the small desk where her laptop was set up. Sitting there for a moment Alice writes a few things about her new stay in the grand house just little reminders for her next story.

Standing and going to the bed again she flips down onto the bed that felt like clouds snuggling in. Just stairing into the dark for what seemed like hours Alice finally found herself drifting off dreaming of the things to come.

"A movie sometime still would be nice. I'd like that alot actully. It really was nice spending time with someone again."

Continuing to drive Dan glancing at Jade every once and a while not helping the smile that had formed on his lips since lunch and just stayed there. Jade had been helping to fill that empty hole he had felt inside his heart since he had got to the ranch. Now he couldn't imagen what it would be like not talking to someone again.

Finally pulling into the ranch Dan see Mick and the expression on his face was less than happy Dan lets out a sigh. After telling Mick he only wanted friendship with Jade he had hoped things would be ok. But it didnt seem like it. Letting out a small sigh Dan smiles to Jade.

"Ok, I"ll see you at dinner. Stay out of trouble now."

Both going there own ways now Dan goes into the barn to start his nightly chores before dinner was served.

Making her way through the crowds and trying to look over the people was a little hard as Hope was on the shorter side, but finally her eyes could never mistaken the one she was looking for.

Waving at Scott Hope makes sure he sees her before she comes up to him not wanting to startle him. Pulling him into a hug, it had only been a day but she had missed him just the same.

"Hey there? How was the flight?"

Giving a smile as her brother comes into the room Ryan helps with the plates paying attechen to what her brother had done all day.

"Witch ones did you go to? I've been to almost all of them."

Ryan feeling something strange in the air and gives a quick glance to Leo before looking back at Eli. Trying to meet his eyes again Ryan fails and knows something is just not right, but would try to let it go for now with Leo here.

Airport

Kyle returns Alice's soft kiss, his eyes staying glued to hers for several moments. "I don't know why you keep thanking me," he comments quietly.

He reaches over to brush a strand of hair from the side of her face. "I'm the one that owes you all the thanks."

Hearing a bit of noise and some voices, he sighs. "I guess I better at least try to get some sleep. They might kick me out if I stay in your room too much longer."

Grinning, he steals one last kiss before he rolls off the bed and aims for the door. "Night, Alice," he calls over his shoulder before disappearing into the hall.

Jade smiles, though she keeps her eyes focused out the windshield, lest she turn her gaze to Dan and fall into those eyes of his again. "I had fun too... maybe we can still get a movie sometime though." The thought that crossed her mind was the living room right off of the dining hall that had a nice comfy couch and a big tv across from another small fireplace.

She quickly tries to think of something else. "Well, if I make it past my father alive when we get back, I'd say it was a good day." She laughs, trying to not be too serious about it. "Maybe he's been too distracted to notice I've been gone."

If only she were that lucky. A while later after the long drive from town, it was Mick who was standing outside the barn as chores were accomplished before supper. He eyes the pickup, his hands resting on his hips. Seeing his daughter and Dan get out though, he just turns and goes back into the barn.

Jade lifts an eyebrow. Her dad had not looked happy. "I... think I'll go see if I can help with supper," she comments. Maybe if she kept busy and she wasn't in the barn, her dad would let this afternoon slide.

Scott tries to ignore the busy swarm around him as he talks with Hope. A smile spreads on his face. "I'd say you didn't have to pick me up but... there's too much benefit in that for me to pass it up."

He chuckles softly, beginning to relax. "Yeah, things went alright here. Mick was pretty uptight. Not that I wouldn't be, but I hope Reese was right in letting him be a part of the investigation. Start running on your emotions instead of your head in this business and we'll be in trouble."

Hearing the boarding call, he stands up from his seat. "I gotta go now. I should be there in about an hour with all the waiting we'll have to do on the runway, so... I'll see you then."

After ending the call, he takes a deep breath and starts forward, trying not to pay attention to having people on all sides and the narrow hall of the ramp that led to the plane. Once he boarded, closing his eyes and listening to his music helped until they landed in Nevada. Squeezing between the seats reminded him of how spoiled he'd become with private Elite jets during the last couple years.

Finally making it into the airport, he scans the faces for Hope.

Eli chuckles as he gets everything together to bring into the living room. "Oh, just did some sightseeing... wound up at a motorcycle shop and you know I could spend a week in a place like that."

He joins Ryan and Leo, setting everything down on the coffee table and pulling a chair close. "Rented a movie we might wanna watch tonight..." he shrugs. "Nothing special."

The strange thing was, that so far, he hadn't met his sister's eyes once since getting back.

Shock

Sitting down on the side of the bed a big smile on her face Alice looks around at the big room. It felt like way to much room for just her. If anything this room alone was as big as her apartment.

"You see where we are right? How could I not be having fun. I do have to admit I am still in shock over this all. So much in face I feel tired but cant sleep."

Flopping backwards on the bed resting on her elbow Alice looks Kyle in the face and gives a big smile. Sometimes things had been rough, and there were times when things didnt look so bright but doing this with Kyle was the best thing and Alice enjoyed being by his side. Leaning in Alice places a soft kiss on Kyle's lips pulling away and smiling.

"Thank you Kyle, for letting me a part of this."

Taking another sip of water a few hours later there time at the restraint was coming to an end. They hadnt been kicked out but they were starting to get dirty looks and though Dan didnt want to go thought he was having way to much fun.

Throwing the money and tip for here meal onto the table Dan leads Jade out of the restraint and back to his truck. Hopping in the driver side Dan looks over to Jade and gives a smile.

"Well, I guess I dont need a movie after all. By time we get back it will be chores, than dinner. But its ok lunch was better than a movie. Thank you."

Picking up her cell and seeing Scott's number Hope's lips turn into a smile as she puts her paper work down for now a moment. It was always good to hear from Scott and she new his trip back might be rough. She was glad he called.

"Hey there you!"

Standing Hope walks out onto her front pouch to take in a breath of the afternoon air.

"How did everything go? Good I hope. Do you know when your flight will be back in Nevada I"m gonna meet you there and pick you up."

Once Gunner was asleep Bree just moved a little to let him slide next to her more comfortable. Just looking through the book a little more Bree found the stars intresting. Finally putting the book away herself though Bree leans back on the coutch and before she new it, she was out like a light.

Sitting up just a little and looks up at her brother Ryan smiles. She had wondered where he ran off to but wasn't worried knowing he could take care of himself. Getting a whif of the food Ryan's stomach growls and she cant help the little bit of color that came to her face.

"Guess I am a little hungry huh? How are you feeling?"

Sitting up on the couch a little bit so Leo had a little more room to move or anything if need be he could. Clearing off the coffee table as well to make room for everything.

"So what have you been up to all afternoon Eli? I am sure ordering chinese food didnt take that long!"

Ryan's comment was laced with a little bit of humor as her eyes gave a twinkle from Leo's presence.

Books, supper, sleepy

The movie was over. The laughter had died away. A more fun night never had existed. Some had gone home, some had stayed. Chatter, more laughter and popcorn fights and followed even after the movie, until the hour had grown late enough to bring tiredness.

Kyle flops down across the bed that would be Alice's, on his stomach. "I'm too tired to go to bed," he mumbles into the fluffy comforter. Rolling onto his back, he cranes his neck to look at Alice, a silly grin on his face. "I'm having fun."

He needed to go down the hall to his own room - the others were on their way to bed too. But he was too hyped up to settle down just yet.

"I hope you're having fun, too."

Down the hall, behind a closed door, voices could be heard. One was familiar, the other was not. They were too muffled to understand unless one was in the room with them. But as Erik wanders to his own room, he stops. He cocks his head an listens before bristling. Turning around he aims for Kip's room instead, and he doesn't stop to knock. Barging in, a glare is already on his face.

Kip jumps from his chair, along with a young woman, dressed for a night on the town. "Erik, what do you think you're doing?!"

Erik ignores him and looks to the woman. "You're not welcome here, Whitney."

Her eyes narrow and she folds her arms, cocking her head with a little flash of arrogance. "So I heard. Whatcha gonna do? Call your daddy?"

Kip rolls his eyes and looks at her. "Whit, just-"

"Just what? This family is dictating you and you know it. Why don't you split like we talked about?"

Erik sets his hands on his hips, anger flashing in his eyes. "Kip? Is that what you want? If it is, you better decide now."

"No, that's not what I want." Kip's shoulders drop, frustration showing as heat crawls into his face. "Just-"

"There is no just," Erik states flatly. "Whitney, you may see yourself out now."

She glares at Erik, then throws a look to Kip. "You gonna let him do this to me?"

"Well I..."

Whitney scoffs. "You got the spine of a jellyfish, Kip. Forget it. I'm outta here."

"No, Whitney, wait -"

Erik reaches out to take Kip's shoulder. "Either you let her go, or you're out, Kip. I'm serious and you know it."

Kip swallows hard, torn between the two people. Watching Whitney slip back out to the balcony and around the way she'd climbed up, he turns to Erik, irritation evident on his face. "Thanks for nothing."

Erik maintains his sternness. "I thought we resolved this, Kip."

"Whatever." Kip goes and throws himself down on his bed. "Out of my room."

"Look, we-"

"Out!"

"Fine." Erik throws up his arms. "But this is the last time. She comes here again, and you'll have to deal with the consequences." Shutting the door behind him, he stands in the hall, heaving a deep sigh. He hated tough love.

Kip groans into his pillow, then rolls over to grab his phone. He starts to dial, then stops, hesitating for what felt like eternity before hanging up again.

Erik ambles down the hall, heading back downstairs. He needed to tell his father, just out of respect. Nothing had happened this time, so Kip would be alright, but... things couldn't keep going like this. Ever since a month ago when Kip had been caught with Whitney in a compromising situation, Whitney had not been allowed on the premises. She had no intention of changing, and her behavior was unacceptable in this house. Unfortunately, she'd influenced Kip, and he was having a hard time giving up a kind of life he'd just barely tasted.

Jade grins and shrugs. "Not much. I like to watch a good movie... listen to music... Otherwise, a nice walk will curb my boredom."

Sitting back, she lets some of her food settle, looking around the restaurant. It felt good to be out and have some good company.

"Alright, there you are." It had been several hours, and Scott was standing next to the table and monitors. "Reese has several people scouting things out now, taking one channel through the police so we don't just trample over the top of them. Once they get a lead, the team will go in and they'll tune in so you can see what's going on and communicate with them."

Scott points things out to Mick as he talks. "Your headset is there, monitor one will be first option, monitor two if the team splits or if something goes wrong with one."

Mick nods, taking in everything. "Thanks, Scott. This is great."

"No problem." Scott looks at his watch. "And I need to get out of here before I miss my flight."

"Not flying Elite?"

"No jet available." Scott grimaces a little. "I gotta be back in the office tomorrow though, so I get the last short flight out of here."

Mick extends his hand. "Appreciate all of this. Tell Reese thanks, and I'll call him tomorrow."

"Sounds good." Scott looks around at the dining hall that was filling with people for supper. His eyes go down to see BJ once again and he holds out his hand to give him five. "Later, Beej. Stay out of trouble."

Getting to the airport a while later, Scott sits, waiting. His nerves were running high. On the way down here, he'd had the luxury of a private Elite jet. But right now, he was left alone in a crowd of people, and it wasn't his cup of tea. He still didn't do to well alone in crowds, and tonight was no exception.

Picking up the phone, he dials, waiting to hear Hope's voice. "Hey, it's me..." He glances around a little nervously. "Just needed to hear a familiar voice before this crowd at the airport swallowed me up."

Though it wasn't quite time for supper or evening chores yet, Mick paces the dining hall. Dan and Jade weren't back yet. Someone said Dan just needed to run a few errands, but how long did he need? Mick was tempted to call Jade's phone, but thought better of it. No, he'd talk to her when she got back. Why he had to worry about this too, he didn't know. He had enough on his mind without her purposely going against what she knew he wanted.

Gunner nods lamely and manages to move so they both can get up off the floor. Fumbling in the dark for a moment, he almost knocks over the lamp he was looking for. Turning it on, he's wondering if he'll be sorry he did - he was sure he looked like a mess. But then... Bree had seen him worse than this.

The small light illuminates the living room just enough to see, revealing a fairly well-kept apartment, other than a shelf of DVDs that was in dire need of organizing. Leading the way to the couch just a few feet away, Gunner flops down in the corner, closing his eyes for a long moment, still trying to regain some focus.

A whole stack of astronomy books were on the end table, proving his hobby wasn't just something he did once in a while. Finally moving again, Gunner picks one book out of the stack and hands it to Bree. "This is one of my favorites. The guy who wrote it is real down to earth and he's a Christian so he actually talks about God. Has a lot of good pictures, too."

...Gunner didn't know when he fell asleep. It hadn't been long after Bree had started reading though. So tired, he just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.

"Hey, guys!" Eli comes into Ryan's place, plastic bags rustling in his hands.

Leo jumps, having been asleep, curled up with Ryan on the couch.

Eli comes up behind the couch and peers down over them, a grin on his face. "I brought Chinese back for supper." It was late, but Eli had a hunch the other two hadn't eaten yet, and he was right.

Leo lifts his eyebrows and looks to Ryan. "I think I could go for that."

Eli heads to the kitchen to take the food out of the bags, the aroma filling the air. "Kitchen or living room?" he calls over his shoulder.

"Living room," Leo answers. He was so stiff from sleeping all afternoon that just staying here seemed a pretty good idea. He ruffles Ryan's hair. "You should've woke me up sooner so I'd have at least been halfway sociable this afternoon."

Ok

Taking a sip of his water Dan gives a small laugh. It was nice talking to Jade and telling her some info about himself. It just simply felt nice to have a friend.

"I always liked reading and did it when I could. Its just life gets to busy sometimes so it leaves little room for books. But when I can, I like reading."

Taking another bit of his food Dan just enjoys it for a moment the silence lingering but not minding it much. Even the quiet in the moment seemed comfortable, and Gunner enjoyed it.

"So, other than horses, bowling, and not much free time what do you like to do?"

Feeling Gunner start to calm down Bree was happy. He'd been so worked up, and she had been so worryed about him. Feeling him relax help her relax herself becoming more comfortable against the wall.

Hearing Gunner's request Bree thinks for a long moment. They were both grown adults and friends who were responsible what could be the harm?

"Yeah I'll stay with you. Lets move to the coutch so its a little more comfy ok and we can grab on of the star books to look at."

11/22/09

Free time?

Gunner heaves a long sigh, swallowing hard, and just remaining quiet for what seems a long while. He knew Bree was right. He'd just been feeling so good, that he'd thought it would be over. But one stupid nightmare had set him back, sending his emotions plummeting all over again.

Just leaning on Bree, finally, finally his body begins to calm from the brief trauma. His muscles begin to relax and his head falls a little heavier on Bree's shoulder.

"Thank you, Bree," he mumbles. "Someday... someday I'll repay you."

Still sitting on the floor, it's another quiet moment once again. "Bree?" With his emotional state came a lack of judgment or appropriateness. "Can you stay?"

Jade listens intently to Dan, enjoying learning a bit about him. Working on her own food, she swallows a bite, then gives a little chuckle. "Free time? You're lucky. One thing that made me mad all these years was my grandmother's insistence that I keep busy." She shakes her head.

Sipping her water, she cocks her head. "So how did you rate, getting all that time to read? Or are you a closet bookworm?"

R/M

Continuing to hold Gunner Bree rocks softly. She hurt for her friend, and she wished she could wave a magic wand and just make everything ok but thats not how it worked.

"Just because you had a dream, and you got scared doesn't mean you not better. Its going to take time before you can be you again."

Running a thumb over Gunner's hand Bree is quiet for a moment just letting his tears come. There was nothing wrong with that, and she wouldn't make him feel differently.

"Nothing can happen in the snap of our fingers, no matter how much we wish that could happen. It will get harder, and than each day it will be easyer. You just cant let everything build inside."

Taking a bit of his own wrap Dan is silent for a long moment just tasting his food and how good it was. It had been a long time since he had, had Greek food and oh how good it tasted. Finally putting it down Dan looks up again.

"When I was younger there was an animle farm my family use to go to and I always loved being around the horses though I didnt know much about them. They were on the poor side so I never get lessons or anything but I promised myself on day I would be a cowboy."

Dan smiles at the memories, it was always good to remember cretin things.

"Time moved on and I started working for a lady cleaning stalls. Nothing big but it was something that made money. Than about 3 years back I had alot of free time, and I read any horse book I could get. Anything from vet books on horses, to riding and training books. Than I found myself at you Dad and Step mom's ranch."

I was...

Though Jade wants to know more about Dan's own situation, she doesn't have a problem switching topics. There would be other times for her to find out more.

She grins as she starts into her salad. "I was horse crazy the day I was born. I guess I got that from Dad. Even after he was gone though, I insisted on having something to do with horses. Eventually I got to take riding lessons and... here I am."

Giving a little laugh, she looks across at Dan, her eyes twinkling. "Your turn."

Gunner leans into Bree, his head resting on her shoulder as a few tears fall from his eyes. "I just... thought it would be over."

His hand finds hers and he grips it, hanging on for reassurance. Though still shaking, his heart starts to slow a little. He sniffs again, trying to gain back control. "I felt so good... and then... then the dream and... and I just want it to be over again but... but I don't want it to be, it just... I don't know what to do."

Closing his eyes tight, he tries to rid his mind of the images from his nightmare. "I was better... they let me go," he whimpers. "Why can't I just be me again?"

Nothing Will

Keeping his smile held and giving a small nod Dan new all to well what Jade meant and how it felt. He didnt have the problem of his parents splitting but the feelings she was having where still there.

"I guess thats life for you. We grow and sometimes it hard for others to deal with. IN fact they could be scaired of losing up and that in turn could be whats pushing us away."

Looking down for a moment and picking at the table Dan just thinks before speaking. He didn't want to offen Jade, and he didn't want to feel like he was taking sides, he was just trying to help.

"I've been there myself. My parents and I didnt get along so well as I grew older. Eventually I ended up leaving home as well. The only problem with how I did it was since that day 5 years ago I still haven't talked to them."

Looking up at her again Dan's face shows the pain he did feel not being close to his family anymore. but the smile on his face was soft, and his eyes held so much more.

"Just make sure if you do stay, you do it the right way so you dont have to go through what I did."

Seeing the waitress starts to come over Dan's expression changes to a more cheery one. He didnt like seeing Jade so sad, but he was just wondering. Now he wanted to make her happy and smile.

"Ok, lets talk about something happy. I dont...like seeing you sad. When did you love of horses start?"

Laying her head aganst her pillow Katie closes her eyes.

See you tomorrow J. Sleep well.

Withing minutes Katie is out and happy for the sleep to come a smile on her face.

A pain hits Bree's heart as she watchs Gunner and listens to him. Sitting down on her bottom close to Gunner Bree gentily rubs his arm.

"Its ok, I wasnt in a deep sleep anyways. I dont mind at all you called me. After all I told you too."

Continuing to listen Bree cant help but move closer to Gunner and wrap her arm around him and over his shoulder. Pulling him closer to her she does her best to give him comfort.

"Its ok to cry Gunner. This is not an easy thing even now. It takes time but I know your strong enough. I'm here for you, nothing will hurt you while I am here."

Not himself

Jade's smile fades just a little, and she shakes her head. Her fingers run along the rim of her water glass and she looks down for a moment. "No, I won't tell you to shut up."

Sighing a little she looks back up at Dan. "Mom and I used to get along... we really did. But... as I grew older I guess I had too much of my dad in me. Mom and I just started fighting a lot... over little things. And Grandma... she likes to run things, and I finally got tired of it. But when I started arguing with her, then quit college, things around home got ten times worse. I'd wanted to leave once already when I went looking for Dad... I hadn't seen him since I was little. He convinced me to go home, and I thought things would be okay after that. But..."

She shrugs. "I guess... I don't know, it didn't take long for things to go back to where they were. The more I talked about Dad, the worse it got, so I finally split. I still don't know Dad all that well, but I'd rather be with him... I just feel like I have more in common with him than Mom."

Looking at Dan again, she gives him a bit of a sheepish look. "I know... kinda crazy... I just don't really know what to do anymore though. I love my mom, we just... grew apart. I feel like I don't belong anymore."

A smile spreads on Jason's face and he shifts his attention from the television.

I'm glad... and you're welcome.

He sends as many warm emotions as he can. He'd missed Katie. they'd both been through so much, yet hadn't gone through enough of it together. He'd really hated the distance this time.

Sleep well, Hero. See you tomorrow.

Gunner hadn't even heard Bree enter, and he jumps a little. "Bree?" He squints in the dark, trying to see her face. "I..." He didn't even know what he was supposed to say. He was still in a fog and still trembling, unable to calm himself down.

"It... it was a nightmare... I think." He draws in a shaky breath. "Just... so real and... and it hurts... it hurts."

His voice starts to quiver. He thought it would be easier than this to be on his own again. He'd thought he'd left the tears behind. But it just wasn't so.

"I don't know what to do," he whimpers, clearly not himself. "I'm... I'm sorry." He sniffs. "I shouldn't have called you this late."

Box

Not minding to much Dan lets Jade stay close to him. It was strange having his willingness to do this and not hesitant but at the same time it was nice. Jade was nice, and it always felt good having a friend to depend on.

Opening the door for Jade than finding a place to sit menus are passed out, orders at taken and than the wait for the food starts. One would think time flew by in seconds but maybes thats just how it was when you had the company of friend.

Looking over he small table at Jade Dan's gives a smile as the dim lights dance in her eyes. They were almost mesmerizing, deep, and full of wonder. He had seen those eyes before, and had thought they were lost forever. But knowing they were there, with a whole new adventure to start sent Dan's stomach to do flip flops.

"So, I don't mean to pry but you said you wernt getting along with your mom at home? Was it just not seeing eye to eye or was there something more?"

Dan wanted to know more about Jade, she seemed like such an intresting person and the face she wasn't getting along with her mom ripped him apart.

He new what it was like and still almost 5 years later he had still yet to hear from them. They hated when he started dating Becca, and they couldn't stand the fact he as going to start a family with her so they cut all ties. It was the worst feeling he could ever have.

"If I get to nosy you can tell me to shut up."

Slowly walking up Jason's front porch placing the small package down Katie lets a little giggle out to herself. Inside the large box was a few fresh picked apples from the last of the crops alive, along with a book, some pictures, and a little stuffed bear that said "I couldn't bear being away!" Stepping off the pourch again Katie makes no announcement that she was there wanting Jason to be surprised. In the morning they would see each other but for now she was bushed.

Getting back into her car Katie heads for home getting there surprisingly fast. Not seeing Ryder's car in the driveway Katie could guess no one was home. It dosnt take her long to get everything unpacked and into the house for the night.

Wanting to greet Henry on her way in for the last time Katie suddenly remembers he wasn't there anymore. Laura had taking to her home now the day before Katie had left. Feeling a bit sad her friend wasn't there Katie doesn't let it last knowing Laura was happy and Henry would be happy keeping Maggie company.

Entering her bed room Katie flips on the light and sinks down onto her bed. Feeling something hit her arm Katie looks down quickly to see the red rose. Not blocking anything a smile forms on her face as a loving warm glow fills her head.

Closing her eyes and bringing the flower to her noise to smell its sweet fragrance. Letting her emotions flow through her air and the inadvisable tie finding the one who would know.

Thank you J, for the flower. I will never tire of them. I can't wait to see you tomorrow.

Squinting in the dark as the phone rings, the sound of her animles soft chirps in the other room to the disturbance in the night. Reaching for the phone and answering Bree was a little surprised to hears Gunner's voice on the other end. Looking at the clock quickly and than sitting up in bed Bree listens to him feeling something is wrong.

"Hold tight Gunner, I am on my way."

Hanging up and throwing her shoes on Bree dosnt even bother changing her cloths from her sweat pants and t-shirt just throwing her coat on over top.

Getting to Gunner's dosnt take long as Bree lives almost right around the corner. Going to the front door and knocking Bree dosent get an answer and it worrys her. Trying the handle and finding it unlcoked her lets herself in.

"Gunner...its Bree."

The house was dark and she had never been there before to even start to look for where he was. Walking into what she thought was the living room a car pass at the same time lighting up the room. Seeing Gunner's legs on the floor a wave of worry hits her.

Quickly moving over to Gunner, and sitting down on the floor Bree places her hand on his arm not wanting to scare him.

"Gunner...what happend? Are you ok?"

Disoriented

Mick hugs BJ back, giving him a pat. "You bet I'm a gremlin," he teases. "But I'm the nice kind."

He chuckles and looks down to where Scott was. "Blinky? Drool?"

"Ay!" Scott calls from under the table. "Blinky the one-eyed pirate and his can of drool. Doesn't get much better than that!"

Mick quirks an eyebrow, then shakes his head. "I don't want to know."

Scott laughs and scoots back so he can look up at Mick. Rubbing his blind eye, he then points at the wires. "I'll be connected to headquarters in about two hours. By then, Reese should have a team together."

Jade slips out of the truck, grateful for Dan's assistance. "Mmm.... Greek sounds good to me. You have good tastes."

She casually slips her arm through Dan's to walk to the door, leaning into him a little. It felt good to have a friend... she didn't really have many back home... and this was nice.

Jason flops down on his couch, letting one arm flop over to scratch Trooper's head. He'd just come from Katie's house, leaving a rose on the kitchen table for her. He knew she'd be talking to him once she got back - she'd already let him know what was happening on her drive back to Nevada. He hadn't told her that he'd been to her place though, and they were just planning to see each other in the morning at work since she'd be back late.

Gunner's scream shatters the darkness. Sitting bolt upright on the couch, his whole body shakes, his heart racing. His eyes look wildly about the dark room for several moments before he realizes where he is and that the evil being from his dream was not here with him.

Still disoriented, he stands up shakily, realizing that he's soaked with his own sweat. Making it to his bedroom, he's somehow able to change into a dry tee and pants, but continues to shake. It felt like he was shivering from the cold, but he was hot. Stumbling to the kitchen, he's still unsteady, his mind in a fog.

Downing a glass of water, his mouth still feels dry. He gropes his way back to the living room but a wave of dizziness forces him to the floor. At that point, he finally gives up. Leaning back against the wall, he tries to calm his body down, but it just doesn't seem to do any good. It felt like he'd had an overdose of uppers, but it was only the shock of his nightmare. Images from the dream bombard his mind, making his eyes see things in the dark that weren't really there. Logic would say it was simply stress, but Gunner's mind was not at a point to reason with what was happening. 3-D images, flashes and shadows of the horrid creature come and go, giving him a sense that he wasn't really in his apartment.

Gasping for breath, he blinks away more sweat that was quickly soaking another set of clothes. Fumbling in the dark, he hits his table, knocking the cordless phone to the floor. He wasn't even sure what on earth he was doing. He just couldn't shake the disoriented feeling, which had him all the more confused.

Grasping the phone, he didn't know how he remembered any numbers at all, let alone this one... wait... whose was it? He frowns as he hears the other end ringing, not even realizing he'd dialed Bree's number. Who had he just called, and why was he calling anybody? Was he still asleep?

Hearing Bree's voice, he suddenly realizes he's still on the floor, and not asleep. "Um... Bree? I... I need... Um...." He rubs his forehead, trying to think. "Would you... or... something... I don't feel so good." The image of the car accident flashes in his mind, and a wave of despair hits him like it hadn't for several days. "I can't take this... I can't do it."

Greek

Giving a smile and a nod Thirteen couldnt help the excitement she felt. This would be something new and she thought she would like it.

"Ok, I'll do it and see how it works out."

Giving a smile at Ryder she would kind of proud of herself. She had come a long way, and if hadnt been for Ryder she wouldn't have.

Coming back over to the table Misty slids in the seat smileing at Ryder and Thirteen.

"Aerith said the food would be right out. I was offered to help but she insisted I come back out here."

Leaning over to give Carson a quick kiss Misty slips her hand into his. With all the work she had been doing, and new she would be doing over the next week or so it would leave very little time to spair. She wanted to get all she could now.

Thinking for a moment and just driving slowly down the road looking around He wasnt sure where he'd like to eat.

"Well I don't really have a favore place ether. As long as the food is good I am really not a picky person."

Looking out the window again Dan pass a small but nice looking greek restraint. Giving a little smile he pulls into the parking lot.

Getting out of the truck he goes to Jades door and opens it helping her out. He new they wernt really both dressed for this but it didnt bother him any.

"I hope you like Greek food."

Feeling someone pull at his feet BJ lets out a squeel but hearing Mick's voice it turns to a laughter not scared anymore. Just kicking an squirming a little bit a smile was on the young boys face as he looked back at Mick. Giving a shake of his head as he laughed.

"No, I is not a gremlin! Its just me BJ and Blinky with his can of Moutain Drool. I was tryin to help him."

Throwing his arms around Mick BJ gave him a big hug before pulling away and trying to squint his eyes back mimicking Mick once again.

"Are yous a gremlin Daddy?"

Gremlins

Carson gives Thirteen a gentle smile. There was a time when he would have had no tolerance for someone like her - he would have told her to buck up and do the job if she wanted it. But now... he had too many experiences lately to do that to her. He understood what she needed. He nods.

"Any time you need a break, you can take it, alright?" He thumbs down the hall. "There's even a little room back there that's all nice and private and comfortable where you can sit until you can come back out again."

He winks at her. "I've had to do that myself a few times."

Jade had a good time with Dan, being able to forget her worries for just a little while. She hadn't informed her father she was going with him - it was just as well. Whether there had been an argument or not, she hadn't wanted to risk it. Talking with Dan was easy and fun. Though she'd started out a little roughly in the beginning, it felt now like she'd known him all her life. She knew she'd just been nervous and uptight those first few days, and her stress had come out as flirting that now royally embarrassed her. But at least he hadn't seemed to mind, and she was totally relaxed now.

Hearing his offer for lunch, Jade moves her eyes from the window to glance at him. She wanted to say no, that she could buy her own meal, but she could tell he wanted to. It brought just a little color to her face as she smiles.

"I don't really care where we go as long as there's food. Do you have a favorite place?"

Clint grins as he's teased a little by Wes. Though grown up, he'd missed out on having a man in his life for many years, even if Jim was on the side. There were times he wouldn't want to admit that he was closer to Wes after working with him every day, than he was to his own father. Just to know Wes was proud of him... "Thanks, Wes."

Mick wanders out of the bar, still looking around. Finding Sparky, he motions to him. "Hey, have you seen Jade? I wanted to talk to her, but couldn't find her."

Sparky shrugs. He was less than enthusiastic talking with Mick at all, and this whole family thing was none of his business. "Saw her leave with Dan a while ago. Think he had some running around to do."

"Oh." Mick's body language becomes a little tense. "Thanks." Dropping the subject, he heads to the dining hall instead. Arriving inside, he hears two voices. One belonged to his son, and the other was Scott. Getting closer, he grins a little, seeing how Scott was letting the boy "help" set things up.

Approaching quietly, Mick goes around the side of the desk where all one could see were legs. Still quiet, he reaches down and grabs BJ's ankles. "Who on earth is under there?!" Giving a tug, he pulls BJ out from underneath. "Oh my!" His eyes go wide. "I thought I heard gremlins working under there!" He bends over BJ's face, squinting. "Are you a gremlin?"

Paint

Wes' smile braden as he slings his arm around Clint's shoulders pulling into a small hug. He was happy Clint said yes.

"Oh, I cant see her saying no to anything you ask. She loves you to much. I got the paper for you to sigh whenever your ready and than we can go over some stuff you need to know."

Giving Clint's hair a ruffle Wes cant help but laugh. Clint was an adult and he treated him as so, but he would always be his little nephew.

Turning to Clint again Wes face draws a new look of seriousness to it.

"This means a lot to me Clint. Your like a son to me and I am very proud of you."

Looking back to Carson's Thirteen's eyes fill with a little bit of worry. It was hard as it was being around a lot of people she didnt know but maybe slowly it would be ok. She had to be strong and standing by the worry was her courage as she tryed to muster it up.

"I...can try talking to people sometimes. Will you let me hide when I need to until I get use to everything?"

With something things Thirteen new panic attacks would come when talking to people and the only way to calm them without making to much of a scene would be to hide and just be alone. As long as Carson understood thing should would out ok.

Finishing with his work Dan was happy to be done for now with other stuff on his mind. Putting his tools away and double checking everything it dosnt take long before Dan it outside. Spotting Jade on the all to familiar bail.

"I'm going to spray paint your name on that bail. Than no one can take it away, its yours forever more."

Giving a smile and a nod to his truck Jade and himself were off. The car ride didnt seem as long as normal with having someone to talk to along the way.

Finally reaching town Dan's own stomach talked about how hungry he truly was. Looking over at Jade he gives a soft smile.

"Well, I would say lets pick out the movie first but if I dont get something to eat I think my stomach will eat itself. Would you like to eat anywhere special? My treat today."

Squeaky

Clint shakes his head slowly. "If I didn't say yes to this, I think I would be a fool."

Catching his uncle's eye, he purses his lips grimly. "I'll do my best, Wes." He'd screwed up a lot of things the last few years, but this was one thing he wanted to do well at. He liked the work here, and he wanted to do a good job.

"Unless for some reason Wendy's against it.... yes, I'll take on half the shop, and run it while you're gone."

Ryder grins and winks at Thirteen. "Yeah, I think it's okay. At least this way I'll know you're safe during the day. You'll do a good job - I know you will."

Carson nods. "You might have to talk with some customers sometimes... can you do that?"

Time couldn't move more slowly for Jade. Though receiving an apology from Mick about the other night, her heart was still heavy with all that was going on. She still hadn't had the nerve to ask her father if she could stay... but she knew the longer she was here, the more curious he would become as to when she was planning on leaving.

Another unanswered call from her mother was all she could take, and later, Jade found herself sitting on that familiar bale of hay, just waiting until she could go to town with Dan. Her stomach growled, proving it was ready to go to town too.

Scott's eyebrows rise and he laughs as he takes his can of pop. He had no idea why BJ was calling him Blinky, unless he'd been blinking more lately as his bad eye had been bothering him. "Thanks, Bub." He takes a long swig, and sighs with satisfaction before setting the can aside.

"Alright, Beej, hand me that blue wire over there."

Working alongside the child hadn't been planned, and it made work go a bit slower, but Scott had all day to make sure everything was running. BJ's presence didn't bother him a bit and he kept the boy busy, asking him to hand him this or that while he fiddled with the equipment.

Gunner slams his desk drawer shut and stands up. He was through for the day. His mind wasn't working right, nothing was going right, and he just wanted out of here. Maybe it really had been too early to come back to work.

Grabbing his jacket and keys, he heads out of TJY without telling anyone he was leaving early.

Arriving home, he's slow to go inside. Stepping on a squeaky mouse, a lump rises in his throat. He needs to clean up... he needs to put all the cat stuff away... he needs to see what kind of food he had and go shopping. But instead, he doesn't even take his jacket off before sinking down on the couch and curling up.

Drool

Giving a smile as Clint takes the keys Wes can see the worry in his eyes. It was a look that was normal and if he hadn't seen it than he himself would of been worried.

Laying a hang on Clint's shoulder Wes gives his a soft but ferm squeeze.

"Running into problems is part of having a business. I'm not going to be around to ask, its going to be in your hands and I know you will do whats best. If you get into a pinch and dont know what to do you can always ask for what someone else thinks."

Straightening just a little Wes tryed not to let his own worry show. He really was worried about leaving but not because Clint might do something wrong but because he would be leaving his family. He liked working with Clint and he would miss it but knowing the shop would be in good hands eased that.

"Your good at this job Clint. I trust you running the shop and thats why I asked you. If you want to think about the offer just let me know."

Looking up at Carson Thirteen studys him for a long moment before glancing at Ryder. She was getting use to Carson slowly after being here with Ryder many times.

"I...."

For a long moment Thirteen thinks looking down at the table. Maybe she would help with the cooking, Thirteen liked doing that alot. She couldnt help but be a little excited but feel nervous at the same time. It would be nice not to have to be alone while Ryder was gone and Aerith was nice, she liked Dani too.

"I can try. Will it be ok Ryder?"

Thirteen looks to Ryder with question in her eye. Not asking him if she could, but asking if it was safe here, and maybe even looking for the reassurance she could do this because she was strong enough. She'd never had a job before, or even have a reason to make money.

Giving a smile maybe a little bigger than normal since Jade couldnt see him Dan leans on the pitch fork for a moment before getting back to his work. The rest of the chores were going to drag now that he had something else to look forward to. But in the end it would be worth it.

Thinking hard BJ lets the information once more process about the wires and cell phones. Finally his mouth goes in the oh shape as he nods like he understood, mimicking something he had seen Rosetta do.

"Dat, is kind of cool."

Hearing that he could help if he got something for Scott. Jumping up BJ had a look of excitement on his face. This was deffintly something that broke up his day.

"I will be wright back."

Going to the fridge BJ opens it up and and looks in searching the pop till he found what he was looking for. Finally grabbing the green can and just looking at it for a moment he finally grabs his own cup of juice, shuts the fridge and than heads back to where Scott was coming next to him and sitting down his cut between his legs and holding the can of pop out.

"Here you go, Blinky your Moutain Drool."

Giving a smile BJ didnt even relize he was pronouncing the name of the can wrong.

What if...

Scott chuckles and shakes his head. "No strings. It's kind of like your dad's cell phone... no strings or wires, but he can talk to your mom even when he's far away."

Splicing two wires, he gives the boy a sidelong glance of amusement. "Tell you what... if you go get me a can of mountain dew out of the refrigerator, I'll let you help straighten out these wires."

Jade pauses her work, a small smile forming as her tear trickled down her cheek, then disappeared. She bit her lip, her back to the stall next to her until she finally answers. "Yeah... yeah, I'd like that, Dan... thank you." She couldn't wait until chores were over so she could be distracted for a little while.

Carson laughs at Misty. "Yeah... your whole family is alike. Can't win against you lot."

Reese stands up from the table. "Well... I'll wait to hear from one of you then but don't wait too long."

Ryder nods. "I'll talk to the guy at the zoo and see what he says. I think this is something I'm interested in doing."

The little group breaks up, and Carson tells Misty to go have Aerith get the food he already had ready for their lunch, and he slips away for a moment. Sliding into a seat next to Thirteen, he gives her a smile. "Hey you." He glances over to Ryder, who had sat across from Thirteen as well. "Got a question for you." Carson spoke to Thirteen, smiling but serious. "Looks like your buddy here is gonna be getting pretty busy. Things around here are picking up a bit too ya know."

Ryder sits back and quirks an eyebrow, wondering what Carson was getting at, but letting him continue with Thirteen.

"We could use some help around here," Carson explains. "Give you a place to be while Ryder works and earn you a few bucks too." He cocks his head, not sure if Thirteen would be willing or ready for something like this. "Safe place to be," he prompts.

Clint stares at his uncle with wide eyes. He blinks, looking at he keys then back to Wes. "I..." He knew that Wes liked his work, and knew he'd been doing a good job but this... "Wow. I don't know what to say."

He slowly, hesitantly takes the keys, just looking at them in his palm. He looks back up at Wes, worry in his eyes. "I... don't know if I'm ready for this, I mean... what if something goes wrong? What if I don't do a good job?"

Owner

Going back once again to get the red handled pliers BJ was happy to help, and it was something new to do as well that peeked his interest.

Coming closer to Scott BJ lays next to him looking up at the wires and everything that was connected together and even those that wernt. The wheels in his head started turning as he tryed to understand everything.

"But how does that go to the shatlight? An invisible string?"

Reaching up to touch some of the wires BJ is very careful not to break anything thing. He just was interested. He'd never seen something like this before.

" I like puzzles, tan I help you please?"

Looking up as Jade's phone rings and than as she puts in back in her pocket Dan tilts his head for a second. He could probably guess who that was and he felt bad for Jade. His parents were still together thought he hadn't talked to him in a long time, he didnt have to grow up choosing sides. He could only imagen how hard that must of been.

Talking loud enough so Jade could hear him in the other stall Dan mentions.

"Hey, I wanted to know if you'd like to go into town with me after chorse were over. I was thinking about renting a movie to watch tonight and I could use a hand on finding something good. Maybe we can grab a bit to eat as well."

Dan new it wasnt much but it was all he could offer to try and help her at least forget for a moment about the phone call she had and keep her from getting upset.

Smiling and returning Carson's kiss Misty gives a little nod before looking back to Ryder. Quite for a long second before saying anything.

"Well, I dont think Ryder would burn the place down. And I have tasted his and Thirteen's cooking here before and its not to shabby. I think that would be a great idea."

Leaning into Carson a little bit Misty just relaxs still a little tired but nearly as much as she had been.

"Psht, I'm related to him, it run in our blood not to give up I guess. I think having Ryder fill in here everyone in a while so you ich can be scratch is not a bad idea. I happen to like the past about spending more time with you tll."

Rolling her eyes Ryan just lets Leo lay there not minding one bit.

"Your not in the way really, if you wernt here i would probley be here on the couch alone watching tv."

Flipping through the channels Ryan find something that seemed ok on TV. Leaning her head back on the couch she just watchs it as she zone out, wondering if she would be the next to be captured by the overcoming feeling of sleepyness.

Holding the keys out to Clint Wes just lets them dangle in front of his nephew. He'd thought about it all night, talkinged it over with Cindy and she agreed. While he was gone Wes needed someone to be able to run the shop.

"I want you to have the shop and run it for me while I am gone. We would be partners. You would have half and so would I. But I want to making it offical that your co owner. You deserve this."

Wes only hopped that Clint would agree to doing this. He was a great macanic thats was learning something new from Wes every day. But now it was time to test his wings and what a better way than this to do so.

Too comfortable

Scott grins as he keeps working, and accepts the wrench, setting it aside. "See that other tool over there? The one with the two red handles?" He's amused that "pliers" hadn't been understood. "How about you get those for me now?"

Waiting for what he needed, once he has it, he sees again the curiosity in BJ's eyes. Giving in, he stops working for a moment and gestures for the boy to join him. Lying on his back, he had full view of all the wires, and he starts to point them out. "See, these go to the computer, and then waaaaaay up in the sky, there's a satellite and that's going to help your dad talk to people all the way in another state. It's like a big puzzle I need to put together, but all the pieces need to be in the right place, or else it won't work."

"Awww..." Jade grins and follows a ways behind Dan as he starts to work. "You've got all these lovely horses to talk to... and the dog. I mean... how much better does it get?" Her eyes danced to accompany her teasing tone.

Moving to the next stall down, she dons her gloves, ready to clean as well. Just as she starts, her phone rings in her pocket. Taking it out, she sees the number is her mother's. Looking over to Dan, it's as if she suddenly doesn't know what to do. And for the first time, she shuts the ringing off, and places the phone back in her pocket.

Silently, she moves to start work again, but all the frivolity had been sucked out of the atmosphere. A tear surfaces. She didn't want to get yelled at again, or have to justify why she was still with her father. But at the same time, she hated herself for not speaking to her own mother.

"Oh yeah, everything's great," Carson comments, slinging an arm around Misty's shoulders. "Reese is still hunting for a way to keep me on the Elite so he can use me every once in a while." He gives a little smirk. "As if I thought he'd give up."

He gives Misty a kiss on the forehead. "What do you think? You think Ryder can fill in for me if I'm on a case for a day?" He grins. "At least you might get to see me a little more often."

"Mmm..." Leo groans a little, having not realized he'd fallen asleep. Shifting a little so his head is back in Ryan's lap, he stretches slightly, though careful not to stretch too much as his ribs warned him not to. He shakes his head to answer no, he didn't want anything to eat. "Not very hungry," he admits.

Sighing, he closes his eyes again as her fingers run through his hair. "I need to go home," he mumbles. "...and get out of your way. But I'm too comfortable to move."
