Work day

Jason grins at Katie, then hearing nothing, turns to see her already asleep. Mustering the gumption to get up and take his shoes off, he flops back down, exhausted by how little sleep he’s had the last few days. He lies on his side, just watching Katie sleep for several minutes. Things had changed in the blink of an eye…but it was a change he wouldn’t resist. Not this one. Not this time.

As morning dawns, Jason hears his watch alarm beeping underneath his pillow. Yawning, he rolls over and stretches, feeling as though he’d slept like a rock all night – the firs night in a long time that he had slept so well. Finally having gained back energy, he slides out of bed and hits the restroom with a clean set of clothes, emerging a while later, showered and changed, his colon lingering in the air. He sits down to lace up his boots, and sees Katie still sleeping. As much as he’d like to spend the morning with her, he knows Reese will want him in, especially after having the afternoon and evening before off.

Grabbing his jacket and gloves, he quietly goes to Katie’s bed, bending down to give her forehead a soft kiss, and run a hand through her hair. He turns, heading for the door, hoping to return over lunch.

Con wakes with a start as someone wheels a squeaky cart down the hall. His neck was stiff from his position in the chair, giving him a headache, and his bad ear was throbbing. As he moves to lean forward and stretch, he realizes Jamie’s hand is still in his as she sleeps. He carefully withdraws until his fingers are free, and rises to stand, stretching tall. Yawning, he glances at his watch. He didn’t want to go to work…the last thing he wanted was to go to work…

Reese turns from his computer at the sound of the knock. “Come in.” As he sees his niece, a smile spreads. “Well look who’s here.” He stands up from his desk to go and offer a bear hug. “Mm, it’s good to see you! I trust you had a good trip. How have you been?”

Laura steps out of her car, just to have her purse get caught on the seatbelt. Struggling for a moment, she growls with frustration before ripping it loose and slamming the door. Throwing her arms up in the air, she unlocks the car again to reach inside and grab her ID card to enter TJY. This was simply not her day.

Stalking to the door, the mechanism jams and it takes four tries for it to accept her card and allow her inside. Heading to her desk, she runs a hand through her mess of wet hair that she hadn’t been able to dry after her blowdryer had shorted out. Her stomach grumbles in complaint of being empty, and she rolls her eyes. That was the second thing she needed to pick up at the mall – an alarm clock that actually worked. There hadn’t been any time for breakfast this morning.

Receiving several greetings from others, she offers only slight waves. Getting to her desk, she tosses her purse down and looks around, only now realizing that she’d forgotten the paperwork from home. Letting out a groan, she sinks into her chair, putting a hand to her forehead.

Sighing, she finally straightens and reaches out to turn on her computer, only now realizing there is a stickynote on her monitor. She takes it down and squints at it, confused until she reads it. The first smile of the morning comes to her lips and she shakes her head, sticking it to the side of her cubicle to keep. Nate was sweet.

Carson splashes some cold water on his face from the small sink and tries to make himself more alert. His shoulder felt like it was on fire from yesterday’s bullet, and it was redder than it should be. He feared infection, but who around here would care?

Sighing, he flops back down on his cot, just waiting for any other signs of life. He knew it was morning, but that was the extent of his knowledge.

A new face but old friend.

*Katie sits and eats her ice cream slowly but not as slow as she would like. The Night air was warm and melted it fast. Finally as both there ice creams are finished Katie knows its time for them to make there way back to the hospetal.

As Katie receves Jason's words and kiss she cant help but smile. Kissing him back for a fast moment, than replying.*

"Me too."

*Puting her helmet back and and fermly placing her arms around Jason's wast once more they wisk off twords the hospetal. It take no time at all to get back and make it back to Katie's room. Seeing the flowers from Wyatt and everyone at TJY Katie smiles. Making a mentil note to call tomarrow and thank them.

At the mention of a movie Katie giggles and yawns herself.*

"Something tells me I wouldent eather. How about we do a movie tomarrow."

*Qwerking a smile Katie looks at Jason and says.*

"I think its from all the fresh air we got tonight. It helps ya sleep well."

*Katie smile remain as misgef dances in her eyes showing she wants to say more but thinks best of it. Leaning her head aganst her pillow Katie turns her head to Jason.*

"Sleep well J, and I'll see you in the morning. Thank you for the best night of my life."

*With in minutes Katie is fast asleep, dream of what happend that night.*

*As Con's sooth Jamie's mind and soul she slowly closes her eyes. Feeling his hand in her a smile comes to her face. Sleeping finding her slowly but happens non the less.*

*Morning finally breaks as the sun peeks its first ray of lights over the harizon calling for the world to wake. The radient rays of light dart from here to there casing away every shadow from the night. The Dove coo, and the frogs sing there song of good morning.

A soft pitter patter sounds though the halls of TJY as a new comer makes her way to Reese office. Dressed in Black chunky healed shoes with a box toe, white dress pants, and a white light pink shirt. Her long awburn hair hands around her shoulders and down her back ending at about her lower back. Strating her shirt she gives a soft knock on Reese door.*

Messages

Jason grins. "Alright." He finds out what Katie wants, and goes inside to get the ice cream, returning just a few minutes later. He hands Katie's hers, before having to make a quick lick on his own as it drips down the side of his cone.

Swinging his leg over the bike seat, he straddles it backwards so he can see Katie. "This..." he holds up his ice cream, "...stays between you and me." His eyes flicker with amusement as he takes another lick, enjoying the cold treat. "Rick would kill me for eating this as my supper." He thinks for a moment, growing serious. "Though...having my obituary say "death by ice cream" would at least be one of a kind." Catching Katie's eye he breaks back into a grin, giving into a laugh.

It doesn't take long for the ice cream is finished, and Jason knows they need to head back. He set his hands on his hips. "Well..." A deep sigh comes. "Guess we'd better hit the road." He swivels around to face forward and is just ready to put his helmet on, when he stops, pausing again. He twists back towards Katie, reaching over to run a finger along her cheek. "Thanks, Hero...I'm...looking forward to being more than friends..." He lets his gaze linger on hers for just a moment before leaning back to give her lips a quick kiss, then turns back around, slipping on his helmet. The engine roars to life and Jason waits until he feels Katie's arms around his waist before starting forward and aiming for the hospital.

Once back, it takes just a few minutes for them to make their way back inside, up to the second floor and to Katie's room. The nurse eyes them suspiciously from her station but says nothing, and Jason can't help throwing Katie a funny look, conveying his amusement at the nurse.

Inside the room, on the small table sits a fresh bouquet of flowers with a note. "From us all at TJY. Can't wait to see you back again - we're counting the days!" It is written with Wyatt's handwriting, and a PS is at the bottom. "Ty and I missed ya again. Will have to get together soon. Looking forward to hearing you at the fundraiser."

Taking off his jacket, Jason falls backward onto the extra bed, closing his eyes, though his feet are still on the floor. "I was gonna suggest a movie, and was seriously considering staying up into the wee hours of the morning...but something tells me I'm not gonna last more than ten minutes."

Con offers Jamie a smile. "I'd say 'you're welcome' but you don't owe me any thanks in the first place....I'm just glad you're okay." He squeezes her hand and lets it go, reaching over to brush her hair from her face.. "Try to go back to sleep...I'm not going anywhere." Though his mind is in turmoil with questions he can't yet answer, he tries not to let it show. He takes her hand again as reassurance of his presence, settling back in his chair again.

Wyatt sinks down in his desk chair, having decided to take a night shift, and unable to sleep after the day's events. He looks down at his schedule and sighs. Several cases were put on hold due to what had happened with Jamie, in an attempt to not draw any more attention in TJY's direction. Tomorrow they would have to talk with Carson and make a decision about him one way or the other. Laura was supposed to be getting some paperwork to him on the Halloway trial, Rick was trying to get a hold on some new equipment to bring in during the next few days, and even the hospital's fundraiser was on the calendar as a handful of staff would be going - not only to see Katie, but to support the hospital.

Sighing, Wyatt shifts to his computer, checking out some updated files, and scanning messages received from contacts. One in particular catches his eye. "Wyatt - Just got word that a couple detectives down here are reopening the case where that one guy was killed by the R/M ranch. From what I can tell, they've got a couple leads, and one points in Jason's direction. I'm going to try and throw them off the trail, but their superior is pretty determined. Do with this information what you must. - Eddie"

Wyatt's eyes widen. They'd had staff investigated before and had always been able to thwart the authorities before they got too far. This was nothing new, but it was worth keeping an eye on it. He shoots Jason a quick email to warn him.

The Note

*As Katie and Jason head down the road Katie puts her arms around Jason's wast once again. Making sure to hold on tight. Leaving the beach and water behind the memorie of what happend there lives on in Katie memorie. The rocks, trees and night sky shaired in the glorieus moment as well.

Finally pulling into the parking lot, Katie removes her helmet after Jason turns the bike off. Taking in a deep breath of crisp air. A smile still on her face, the brightness and color still in her cheeks.*

"I would mind eating out here as long as you dont mind as well. Its nice out, and I am inside the hospetal all the time so the fresh air is nice."

*Kaite swings her leg over the bike just siting for a moment. Standing she streches alittle still leaning on the bike for sapport.*

*Jamie's sob finally stop and her breathing becomes normal once again as the memories that entered her mind left with the sound of Con's voice. It was soft and soothing offering comfort and shelter. The strength in his voice was reasuring that nothing would happen and she was safe now. Still holing Con's hand Jamie leans back and rests her head on her pillow once again.*

"Thank you Con, for just being here. It means alot."

*As Nate stands he throws another Mouse into Ed's cage and chuckles.*

"I'll see ya tomarrow little buddy. Dont go around biting anyone alse ok."

*Nate shuts off the light and starts to head out, stoping for a moment at Laura's desk. She had been having such a hard time latly with everything Nate felt alittle bad for her. She was always so strong though. Taking a stickynote from her desk Nate draws a flower with alittle note.

"Sorry this isent the real thing but I dident have any flowers hand. Anyways this one will last longer. Hang in there Laura.
-Nate"

Placing the note on Laura's moniter Nate smiles and heads out for the night."

New Voices

Jason keeps his arm around Katie as they walk slowly back to the bike, feeling more peace than he had in a long time. There was still a lot to be gained...a lot to be learned...a lot left until he understood where his life was headed and what the future held...but for now... for now his best friend had become even more, and that was enough. He was happy.

Jason gently picks Katie up again to settle her down on the bike before straddling it in front of her. The engine starts and before they know it, the sandy beach is being left behind to dance with the moon until sunrise.

The night air is clean and crisp, the road almost deserted. Jason skillfully maneuvers the bike to their destination - a small ice cream shop at the edge of town. Several other cars are parked in the gravel lot and some chatter floats in the air. Jason parks near the building, cutting the motor and taking off his helmet. "Well, we can dine on the bike or go inside. Your call."

Con's own heart aches as he hears Jamie talk. He can't imagine what she must have gone through, and a portion of himself still feels the anger...anger towards the enemy, and anger towards himself for not being able to stop what happened.

"It'll be okay," he tries to comfort softly. "You're safe now and no one's going to hurt you." He shakes his head. "Don't be sorry...that's what I'm here for...just let it out."

Carson paces the holding room restlessly. It was going to be a long night and three cigarettes hadn't seemed to help much. He doesn't know why he shared the past with Nate...he never talked to anyone about it. It was just something he lived and put up with as something he couldn't change so he'd never attempted to think twice about it. But now that he had, the memories were back, reminding him of a time before the Agency...before his life had been turned upside down...before he'd become an animal knowing only how to hurt and kill. That's all he was now...he knew nothing else... He'd gotten in so deep that his actions had started to be who he really was...a merciless killer with no remorse.

But something, somehow... had struck a chord in his heart. He knew it had been Jamie's words that had effected him so. Now he was beginning to question himself. Now he was beginning to see again the other side of things. There were still good people out there...there was still a side to the world that wasn't corrupt, even if it was small. Carson couldn't help but long to be a part of that. And yet...how could he? He did deserve to die for all he had done. He deserved to be put in prison for life. Was it even possible for him to gain just a small taste of the world he'd missed out on? He had so much doubt. The people here in this place would surely want to murder him after what he'd helped do to one of their own.

He began to think of his offer that had saved him from being killed or released to die. He'd implied he could go back to the Agency as a double-agent and feed these other people information. But he knew the impossibility of that...the Agency was too smart...they would catch on so quickly that he wouldn't even have time to get anything relayed back here before they would put him away. The only thing he had was the information he'd gained over the years and the things that were kept in his memory. And yet...would the people here trust him? If they did, he would be surprised once again.

"What did you find?" Detective Jackman peers over his partner's shoulder to the dimly lit desk.

Marcus shakes his head. "Not much, but we might have a lead. Finally got a trace on that gun. It wasn't easy, I tell you. Someone did a good job of hiding out. But it traces back to Nevada."

"Hmm." Jackman straightens, thinking. "That's the second time Nevada has come up in that case. What's that list of names you came up with?"

Marcus digs in a pile of papers to find on sheet in particular. "I got about twenty-five here...most are Texans, but one is from Nevada..." He runs his finger down the list, landing on one name. "Yeah, this one. Jason Stevenson. Clean record, unlike the rest of the guys on this list. Works at a factory...nothing special appeared, but we did find records of his dealings with the gun shop where we think the rifle came from."

"It's worth checking out."

"Yeah. I'm gonna make a few calls come morning and narrow this list down even more. I got Garrison and Olson out hunting some of these guys down to find alibis."

"Not easy when it's been so long."

Marcus grimaces. "I know. But the captain wanted the case dug up again so he wouldn't have any loose ends in the department. I'll be surprised if we can actually close this one...I thought it was gonna be put away as an unsolved murder, but..." He sighs. "Guess not."

The Night

*Katie slowly leans up from Jason and stands, knowing this night had to come to an end sooner or later. Katie leans gently on Jason to walk back to the bike as she dosent have her cane at the moment. Looking up at the starlit sky she smiles whispering to herself. "Thank you."
With alittle help and faith Katie had found true happyness. This was another peace that fit into her puzzle of life. A soft giggle escapes from Katie mouth at the mention to ice cream and Rick.*

"Ice cream sounds good. I havent had any in ages, and I promise I wont tell Rick that you had some too. Just dont go eating to much that you throw yourself into shock."

*Katie mouth turns into a grin as she eyes twinkle in the moonlight. Geting to the bike Katie gently puts the helmit on and wait for Jason to help her up on the bike knowing she couldent do it on her own. Not yet anyways.*

*As Jamie feels Con's hand on her's, her heart starts to slow itself but the tears still emerging from her eyes.*

"It was horrable Con, I could smell that basment again, I could smell the blood. They told me you were killed, and my heart acked so much. I dident want to believe it was true, but still I had that horrable feeling of what if it was. Everything they did to me dident even amount up to as much pain as hearing you died did. I thought I lost you again."

*Jamie lets out a long sigh as she continues to talk. Leting out her emotions, she hadent cryed since she got to the hospetal and let everything that happend to her out. Finally her mind just said "enough" and like a floodgate being open the emotions pored out.*

"I could also see Sam geting shot as clear as when it happend. My mind wouldent let me forget, it kept replying it like a movie never geting to the happy ending. Even though in a sence I know there was one. I promised Sam I was going to get her out of there, and I couldent. I let her down, and I let her family down. Now he Son is without a mother. I know I shouldent blame myself cuz its not my fault, but it still hurts so much. "

*Jamie gives a sniff as she whipes her eyes with her free hand trying to get herself to stop crying. It was only a dream and she new it. But it was horrable non the less.*

"I'm sorry I woke you Con."

3/26/08

Awakened

Jason squeezes Katie’s hand back and just sits, too comfortable to move. This was different…this was new…but there was no fear. “Me either,” he finally replies softly.

The sound of the water is a soothing symphony, lulling the shore into evening slumber. Start begin to dot the sky and crickets chirp nearby.

Jason has no idea how much time has passed, and though not caring, he knows that this too must end. He eventually withdraws his hand from Katie’s grasp to glance at his watch. Running his hand through her hair and giving her head another kiss, he wishes he didn’t have to break the silence. “It’s getting late…we better get back. Mom and Pop’s will be closed by now, but if you want, we can stop by that ice cream shop on the way back into town…” He grins. “As long as you don’t tell Rick I binged.”

Con has been sleeping lightly in the chair by Jamie’s bed, getting a crick in his neck. Hearing Jamie move about, he opens his eyes, seeing her suddenly sit up. He straightens quickly and leans closer, taking her hand. “Hey…shh, it’s okay… what’s wrong?”

Wraped up in you

*Katie smiles and lets out a small giggle as Jason picks her up in his arms. Wraping her arms around his neck as they walk. Katie had been close to people before and had boyfriends, But Jason was differnt. Katie felt differnt around him, her feeling ran deeper. She felt safe, and tingaly inside, being around him anything could happen and she new Jason would be there for her.

As Katie leans aganst Jason's chest She lets out a content sigh. Leaning her head aganst his arm, she takes his hand that is laying on her check and slips her own into it locking fingers. Turning her head she plants a small kiss on Jason's for arm than leans her head back to be laying on his chest. The moon was so big and bright tonight the lit reflecting radently off the water cast its light on Katie and Jason as if wraping them in a blanket. In a small soft voice Katie replys.*

"I guess in a way I did to huh? I think it was worth it though. I wouldent trade tonight for anything in the world."

*Katie gives Jason's hand alittle squeeze.*

*Jamie toss and turns as she sleeps in bed. Memories of what happend haunt her mind. No one new but she saw Sam fall. Shot in the chest. Those memories, images rome free haunting her dreams. Pain fills Jamies as she shoots up from bed. Tears roll down her face. What a horrable feeling to have relive.*

Pact

Carson catches the pack of cigarettes with one hand, a look of surprise crossing his face. He follows back towards the cell, flipping his lighter on the way to relieve his craving, despite Nate’s fair warning.

Back in the cell, he gives a slight nod of acknowledgement and sinks back down on the cot, surrendering to the fact that it would be a long and lonely night.

Jason’s grin spreads just a little as Katie brushes his hair from his forehead. He reaches out to run a thumb along her cheek. Not long ago he would have guessed that a moment such as this would have changed too much…it would have created an awkwardness…it would have severed some part of the friendship that he and Katie already shared. But it hadn’t… Instead, it was almost a relief…as if he’d finally been let free and no longer needed to hide. There was no one he’d ever known with whom he felt as comfortable. Katie knew his heart…something he shared with no one else.

Saying nothing, Jason straightens to get to his feet. Reaching down, he easily scoops Katie up in his arms, his leather jacket creaking just as little with the movement.

His eyes seem to smile as he carries her to a sheltered spot on the beach right before the large rocks begin. He eases down to sit on the sand with his back leaning up against the rock, facing the moonlit lake. Positioning Katie in front of him between his legs to face the lake as well, he provides himself as her back rest, letting his arms fall over her shoulders to draw her back against his chest.

Taking a deep breath of the crisp evening air, he plants a light kiss on the back of her head. “You realize I just broke my own pact,” he says quietly.

Closed

*Nate smiles and reachs into his pocket pulling out a pack of smokes tossing them to Carson.*

"I always keep a few on me, for some reson it helps me NOT WANT to smoke when I have them with me. You can have them if you want. But its your lungs your killing."

*Nate walks with Carson down the hall the same way they came, finally geting back to the small cell. After following Carson in to make sure eveything is ok Nate turns to leave calling over his shoulder.*

"I'll be around doing paper work for a few more hours. If you need anything just give a yell. Night."

*Nate makes his exit heading back to his desk.*

*Katie knows this moment must come to a close, and time must go on again. As Jason draws away from Katie she pulls him close again. Pressing her lips to his one last time. As they draw away again leaning there forheads together, Katie stairs into Jason's eyes a smile lighting up her face even more. No words needed to be exchanges, the silence was to great and told its own story for the moment to be runed with words. Katie braings her hand to Jason's face and sofly brush's his hair from his forhead beaming.*

Time

Carson waits a moment, but finally stands up and shakes his head. "You're a strange one, Nate, I'll give you that. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were gonna kill me off in my sleep." He shrugs lamely. "I know better than to ask for a smoke, so no...I guess that's it."

The feel of Katie in Jason's arms drives everything else out of his mind. Her embrace...the touch of her lips...her hand running through his hair. Nothing had felt the same...nothing had evoked his emotions as much.

The sun sinking beneath the horizon places them in a moonlit expanse. Jason's heart races as he takes his time, unwilling to end this moment too quickly, lest the magic be broken. He holds Katie close with an unleashed passion, too strong for words.

But though time seems to stand still, it waits for no one, and the exchange must eventually close.

Jason slowly straightens, finding it hard to pull away. His lips meet Katie's one more time, as if wanting a simple reminder of what they'd just shared.

Finally opening his eyes, he rests his forehead against hers, leaving his arms around her. An ever-so-slight grin quirks the very corner of his mouth, and he studies each of her eyes, memorizing their enchanting gaze.

Return

*Nate nods and grins.*

"Trust me your on the right side now. How about we get you back before Reese thinks I kidnaped you."

*Nate cant help but laugh as he stands streaching.*

"If you want later when I have some time I can bring you back here. I know being held up in a room with no windows or light is not fun."

*Nate stand and heads for the door turning to wait for Carson.*

"DId you need anythng before we go back Carson?"

*As Jason's hand brushes aganst Katie's skin she looks deep into his eyes tilting her head slightly into his hand. Katie is lost in Jason's eyes. Nothing alse matter, nor can she feel anythinh but pure happyniss. As Jason moves closer to her Katie's heart starts to beat alittle faster. Listing to Jason's words in her hear sends a sock through her body as she quivers gently in his arm. A smile spreads across her face, the famus Pent smile. Katie trys to speak but her words get caught in her throt. As time slips by Katie loses focus of all that is around her except for Jason. Jason's touch, him being close to her it sent chills up her spin. As Jason's lips meets hers Katie starts to stand alittle making it easyer to reach Jason. Wraping her arms around him she kiss him back softly, but fermly. Katie arm moves from Jason back to his head slowly running her hand through his hair. Butterfly flutter through Katie tummy, and her heart beats even faster and louder. Time is lost, as Katie eyes are closed enjoying the moment, kissing Jason back emotions, memories, feeling run through Katie's mind. She has never felt like this before. Those words were not spoken She new what Jason was telling her. The warmth of his breath on hers, the sweet tast of his kiss. Like candy to her lips, she only wants more not ready to let this moment to end. The sun now setting, the moon comes out to play casting its bright light on Jason and Katie.*

Forever

Carson concentrates on spot on the floor as Nate speaks. It was ridiculous how he was trusting these people...how he was telling his own story and listening to one similar. He'd been hired to kill...not make acquaintances. Yet for an unexplainable reason, he wanted to stay.

Distrust in people causes Carson to doubt Nate's logic... He'd fed off the past for so long, he wasn't sure it was possible to escape it. And the mention of God just seemed so...unbelievable. He'd heard people talk about that stuff before, but had never put much stock in it. ...So why did it stir questions within him now? Why was he suddenly feeling as though everything he knew had been turned upside down?

Sighing, he shakes his head, bouncing his leg nervously as he chews his piece of gum. "I don't know, Nate. I haven't ever seen much purpose for my life, and it doesn't seem to be getting any clearer. I just hope I've finally chosen the right side, even if my fate is to die in the process."

Jason's hand feels Katie's, and he doesn't pull away. Instead, he returns the light grasp, saying nothing. The sun sinks lower and lower, seeming to melt into the water as the orange and pink seep across the reflective horizon.

After a few minutes of silence, Jason shifts his gaze from the shimmering water meeting Katie’s eyes again. For a long moment, the only sound is the wind and the waves rolling onto the shore.

A strange ache overtakes Jason’s heart as it yearns to be let free of the chains he has held it in. His logic fights his emotions…an intense battle waged between the two worlds. He had made a decision once…but the walls had fallen. He could no longer deny himself what he longed for.

He stares deeply into Katie’s never-ending gaze that lures him away from reality and into a place where time doesn’t exist. Everything else is forgotten. His veins run cold with an unexplainable chill, and his breath catches in his throat. He knew the look in Katie’s eye…the feel of her hand...he knew she would not refuse him.

He finds himself drawing nearer to her, his hand slowly making its way to her face, caressing her gentle features as each curve is tenderly traced. His rough palm becomes almost soft on her skin, transformed by the power of this instant.

Jason’s heart beats within him, a thousand thoughts and feelings colliding in a single moment. The wind combs Katie’s hair, the picture forever burned in his mind. Just friends was simply no longer good enough.

As if pulled by an invisible force, he leans down and tilts his head ever so slightly. His eyes close, and he feels the warmth of Kate’s face on his. His lips brush lightly against hers, sending his adrenaline racing. He swallows hard as logic tears at him, pulling him away, denying the strength of his heart. But it’s a strength too great.

Like a war silenced by a warrior’s death, the battle within comes to a sudden end. Logic will not win this time. His voice comes as a whisper in her ear. "There's more than sunsets to be held on to forever."

Jason’s hand shifts to cradle the back of Katie’s head, his fingers interlaced in her soft hair. His lips envelope hers in a passionate motion as he pulls her close, wrapping her in a strong hold.

The taste is sweet…the feeling is warm. Desire to end the moment has no existence as the intimate exchange lingers, the disappearing sun their only witness.

Words do no Justice

*Nate listens to Carson intently. It dident seem like he was telling a tall tail. The look in his eye was almots sadness and maybe really was regret. Nate's heart went out to him. How long ago was it he was lost and felt so alone. Nate himself at one time felt traped in a life he dident understand. Differnt situations but still the same feeling before he had come to TJY.*

"Never give up hope enough you wish for death on yourself. Ya you may have done some horrable things in your life, but its never to late to change and have people there to help you. Yes The Agency is rough and would come after you, but if you had people, friend who would stand behind you to protect you, you also could make it out. You took the first step this morning when you showed compation for Jamie and dident kill her. Ya you were going to leave her there, but you still had good intentions. Its never to late and God can wash you past clean for you, so you can stay a new."

*Nate goes silent for a long moment. Just thinking about the past and remembering his own pain he felt.*

"I'm sorry about your parents and your sister Carson. I am sure it was not easy seeing them die and it probley could even make a person alittle crazed. In a sence I know how you feel. At a young age right after my parents found out my little sister had downsyndrom for sure they disapeared. Who knows where they went or if there were even still alive. The police tryed to look for them, put out flyers, put stuff on the news but nothing ever came of it. Its hard losing people close to you. It really is. You just have to remember, life moves on, tomarrow is another day and you just have to deal as it comes at you. Dont dwell in the past or it will eat you alive."

*As Katie holds on tight to Jason she notices that now they are heading away from town and the Restront. Wonder dwells in Katies mind but no words are said. Katie new, Jason must have a plane for something. He always had a reson for everything. As they drive out onto the country road and the bike moves faster, Katie s heart starts to race more with excitment. How wonder ful this way. Katie felt so carfree. As they near the lake Katie cant help but smile under her helmet. The Lake had become one of the hangout spots Katie seemed to be at the most and rather enjoyed it. Once the moter on the bike is turns off Katie swings her other leg around and just sits on the bike her legs dangling not being able to touch the ground. Katie gazes out at the harizon listing to the soft splash of water hits the rocks it was more than breath taking. Turning her head to Jason Katie's smile is still held, the last rays of the colorful sunset being reflected off her eyes as they dance around looking into Jason's"

"Its sure is. For some reson though that word dosent seem to quite cover it. I can think of so many words, and yet non of them will do it justice. What a great view. Away from the city lights and noise."

*Katie looks into Jason's eyes for a while longer, not being able to drop her gaze. Finally catching her breath again, she loses it ask her feeling stir inside of her. Looking back out at the sky, without even caring what would be said or how Jason would react, Katie slips her hand into his ever so lightly, but stong enough to still know its there.*

"It is very pretty. One of a kind. We wont even see another one like it. So we better lock it in our memorie bank and hold on to it forever."

Side Trip

Jason can feel Katie wrap her arms around him, and though knowing she’s simply hanging on to stay on the bike, he can’t help his enjoyment. As she leans her head on his shoulder, he almost wishes he could turn around, but both hands remain on the handle bars.

As they’re headed downtown, Jason catches sight of the sunset. It’s breathtaking even to him, but it’s quickly covered by the buildings in town. Throwing all sense into the wind for once, Jason hangs a right instead of going to Mom and Pop’s. Shifting gears, the bike jumps forward as he accelerates down the side street that winds out of town. “Hang on,” he calls over his shoulder, simply allowing there to be question of where they were going.

The sunset becomes more brilliant with each passing minute as it nears the horizon. Jason takes them out onto a country road with a perfect view of the gorgeous sight. Instead of stopping though, he heads clear out of town, finding several more side roads until they’re approaching the lake.

Slowing down, he’s careful to find the best route down close to the shore where there is enough solid ground for the bike. He parks perpendicular to the water’s edge for a perfect view out across the lake to the display of light.

Cutting the engine, he takes off his helmet and runs a hand through his hair. He puts the kickstand down and shifts his weight, swinging his leg around so he’s almost sitting sideways on the bike for a better view. Knowing he need not explain why he skipped the restaurant, he just stares at the sunset for several minutes.

He finally turns with a slight grin to Katie and reaches over to take off her helmet, setting it to the side. “Pretty, isn’t it.”

Yet again, Carson is surprised. What was with these people? He’d tortured one of their own, yet they were showing him mercy. Jason hadn’t killed him. Rick had bandaged him up and fed him. Nate was here now offering him interaction. It all seemed so bizarre.

Carson doesn’t say anything for several minutes, but does take a piece of gum. Finally sitting down across from Nate, he shrugs. “What’s there to tell? I’ve been a hitman and the top choice when it came to interrogation through the Agency. Over the last ten years I’ve killed under orders, I’ve tortured under orders, and during the last five years, I did it without blinking.”

His eyes shift around the room, not willing to land on Nate’s. “Started out as something I was forced to do, and now I got enough blood on my hands that I don’t think the stains can be removed.”

Carson shakes his head, pausing, feeling an odd sense of vulnerability that he didn’t normally feel. “Something hit me this morning…I don’t know…I guess Jamie reminded me of my sister. My family was involved with the Agency at one point, but they wanted out. My parents and sister were killed because they refused to conform. I was the coward of the family, and broke under the pressure. The Agency forced me to work for them if I wanted to stay alive.” Carson’s face shows no emotion, his voice flat and drained of life.

“So I did. I guess I got too good at it and pretty soon I didn’t care anymore. Until this morning…I saw all you out there fighting with your lives, and you were actually succeeding. I guess maybe I was stupid enough to take another chance and see if you guys really could take down the Agency.” He pauses for a moment. “I don’t care if I live or die anymore…working for the Agency has been a living hell, and I wish I would have died with the rest of my family. So if I go down for this, I’m better off. The Agency would catch on so fast if I went back to them that I’d be dead within twenty-four hours. I stay here, and they’ll have that sniper after me instead of Con. Either way, I get what I deserve.”

Sunset

*Nate walks along side Carson, insted of infront or behind him. To Nate when someone did that they were saying we are equil. I am not better than you and you are no better than me. As Nate walks down the long hallway they pass pictures of differnt people in TJY, and of differnt avents Finally making it to the room Nate opens the door and lets Carson in. There is a window that is cracked slightly, and and a small table. There is also a sink and a little microwave. Nate sits down at the small table that is lined with books. Reaching into his pocket her pulls out a pack of gum and sets it on the table.*

"That might help you with your shakes. I know it did me. So Carson, tell me about youself."

*Nate trys to let his face expresstion soften. He had seen something in Carson face in the woods. He had shown compation for Jamie, and even killed one of his own to protect them. Nate was intreged and wanted to know more about Carson.*

*As Jamie makes her way slowly down the hall she smiles. It was nice to be WALKING with Jason again and not rolling. Even though she had to use the cane she was thankful to be walking at all. Finally making it to Jason's bike she beams as he helps her with the helmit, postions and geting on. As Jason starts the engin Katies heart starts to race and her adrenilin runs faster than before. Slowly and gently Katie puts her arms around Jason waist and holds on tight. As Jason starts off Katie becomes more excited than before. She cant help but let out a laugh as they are heading down the road. How free it felt to be on the back of the bike. As Katie looks around to take in the sceans flying by. Everything seemed differnt more fun looking at it from the back of a motercicle. As She looks to her right Katie sees the sun seting. It looks amazing. The sky was soft pink, and reads, a bit of purple and orange mixed in too. Leaning her head on Jason's shoulder Katie take in the sunset and Jason being so close to her. Something was differnt. Maybe it was the excitment from riding the bike, but it felt differnt but good. Katie sighs in contentmint.*

*Jamie smiles at Con still holding his hand, her eyes slowly closeing.*

Ride

Carson jumps as Nate enters the room, not having expected to see anyone until morning. The offer is surprising…distrust surfaces. But this guy seemed okay… The comment about running strikes a nerve, and Carson almost retorts, but thinks better of it. He knew he was crazy for having given himself up in the first place, but he was here now, and needed to cooperate, lest someone really would take out their frustration on him or worse.

There was something about Nate…something about these people here…Carson wasn’t sure he could quite put a finger on it, but it was the same thing he’d felt when Jamie had looked him in the eye and spoke of her forgiveness. It had taken him aback, no doubt.

“A window without a view seems to be appropriate. Lead the way, mate.”

Con knows Jamie understands, and is grateful. Lifting her hand, he plants a gentle kiss on it. “I’ll talk to Laura tomorrow. As for now…” He withdraws, settling into the chair. “You need sleep, and I’ll keep you company.” It was funny…it wasn’t all that long ago that Con had questioned Jason’s time spent at the hospital with Katie…but now he understood.

Jason grabs a jacket of Katie’s too. “And this. I’m not planning on taking any dives, but road rash is nasty.” He winks at her, and goes to get her cane for her. “Alright…we’ll take it slow. If the nurse asks, we’re on a secret mission.”

They make their way down the hall, though it seems longer than usual at their pace. Jason doesn’t mind though, and sticks close for support should Katie need it.

Finally they’re out to the parking lot and to the bike. Jason sets the helmet over Katie’s head and straps it under her chin, adjusting the length. Once he’s got his own helmet on, he helps Katie get onto the back, making sure her legs are in the right places, with her feet on the foot rests. Strapping her cane to the back as well, he adjust a couple things, then swings his long leg over, settling down in front of Katie. Turning the key, the engine starts up with a roar. Jason turns his head to speak loudly to Katie. “I’m not in the habit of losing passengers, so hang on. You need to stop, just yell in my ear.”

The bike starts forward with a little lurch as the gear is engaged, and Jason steers it carefully out onto the street, driving just a little more cautiously than normal, and heading downtown to Mom and Pop’s.

3/25/08

Window

*Jamie smiles at Con and nods her head at his idea. After asking him, she had relized maybe how undecent her request really was. Jamie liked Laura alot and it would be nice to have them both around. How could she go wrong.*

"Ya...I think I would like that. Maybe we all could get some pizza and play some bored games or something. It would only be for a night or to till I got use to the house again."

*Jamie smiles at Con and takes his hand.*

"Thank you."

*Katie beams up at Jason.*

"Yes I am. Let me just grab a sweatshirt, and we will be ready to hit the road."

*Within minutes Katie has her sweatshirt and a pare of jeans on. Turning to hang her legs off the bed she smiles at Jason.*

"Dont let that nurse know, she would have a cow. Can you grab the cane for me please Hun?"

*As Nate watches Carson he lets out a sigh. He notices that he is becoming antsy and can unsetand why. He was caged in a small area, No windows No light. In the back of Nate's head he told himself is served Carson right after what he did to Jamie. Everything he put her through and so many other. No matter how much Nate wanted to be angry at Carson he couldent. His sisters tiny words ran through his mind. "Do unto others as you would have done to you. Right Brother?" Nate smiles at the memorie of Maggie's voice. Stand Nate streches and turns off the camara. Heading down to Carson's holding cell Nate unlocks the door and steps in. His face not really showing much emotions.*

"I though maybe you could use som fresh air. We have another room with a window if you want to sit in there and breath alittle. The window dosent give much of a view so there is no worry of you figuring out where you are. Come on. Dont try running eather, or its the last time those legs of yours will work."

Ready?

Con shakes his head at Jamie’s question. “I don’t know what I’m gonna do…I just don’t know.”

As the evening wears on, Con is taken by surprise by Jamie’s request. He wasn’t surprised that she would be leery about being by herself again, but…

Just two weeks earlier, Con wouldn’t have hesitated. Jamie had been a little sister...but now… it felt just a little awkward. Looking into her eyes, he knows that she just needs his support right now. There would be nothing wrong with him staying with her for a couple days, though he wasn’t sure it would be such a great idea with just him and Jamie in the house.

“I’ll stay with you for as long as you need me to, okay?” Con offers her a reassuring smile. “I bet I can even get Laura to come over too.”

Jason raises his eyebrows, unable to stop a smile at Katie’s enthusiasm. It felt good to be wanted…he couldn’t deny that. He gives a short laugh. “Alright. If you feel up to it. I do have that spare helmet…” He holds it up. “You think you’re ready for a ride?”

Carson eats half his supper, then dozes for a while, only to wake up an hour later. He gets up and starts to pace the small room. No windows…no light from anywhere outside…he was beginning to feel almost claustrophobic. Running a hand through his air, it shakes just a little. There was only one thing he wanted right now, and he couldn’t have it. Quitting smoking cold turkey hadn’t exactly been on his agenda.

I want to get out

*Jamie gives a slight nod to Con.*

"Ya I know I hate it too. But i guess we have to sometimes even though it bites."

*Jamie studys Con for a long while.*

"What are you going to do Con? Since your life is changing. Whatever it is I'll saport you 100%. As long as there was be room for me."

*Not much talking takes place but Jamie enjoyed Con's company non the less. She likes having him near. She felt safe, and new everything would be ok when he was around. After alittle Jamie's mind goes back to when she was to return him. Worry filled her. She had never been scaired to go home before till now. Looking down at her hands she speaks the smiles leaving her face as the worry sets in.*

"Con...When I go home. I know this is a big request, but do you think maybe you can stay a day or to with me? You dont have to...I just...think it would be nice to have someone around."

*Katie cant help but laugh as Jason and Kyle scoble. It was always funny to watch them.*

"You guys relize you sound like two chicken in a barn clucking right."

*Katie shakes her head at the site, her eyes dancing with laughter.*

"You always come in, make a comtion and than go running out Kyle. Whats up with that I am gonna start thinking I smell or something."

*Katie smiles and gives him a short wave as he leaves. As Jason informs her that he has the night off Katie squeels and claps the excitment showing on her face.*

"YAY...I get you all to myself tonight and sounds like your asking me on another date. Yes I'd love pizza but I'd like to get out for this date and come with you. I need to exersise my legs anyways. If you dont mind walking slow."

*Katie nods to her cane and smiles.*

*Nate makes his way back to TJY Coffee in hand. He new Reese probley dident need him right now but he wanted to be around anyways incase anything went down with Carson. Not to mention he wanted to watch over Ed too. Con was at the Hospetal with Jamie so he new his mind was alse where. As Nate makes his way to his Desk Ed lifts his head and sticks his toung out. Nate lets out a laugh.*

"Ya dont say."

*Nate drops a dead mouse into Ed.*

"Bet your hungry. Sorry you have to say here in this box, but mommy isent home yet and my sister Maggie would kille me if I was to bring you home. So this is where you will stay for now little guy."

*Nate flicks on the small tv haning on the wall by his desk. The camra that was in Carson's cell was also connected there.*

Pizza?

Con grimaces a little after the doctor has left the room. "I hate lying...but what else are we supposed to do?" He sighs deeply. "I don't think I can keep up with this anymore."

He pauses, but tries not to be dismal, for Jamie's sake. "Glad you'll be out of here in a couple days though. Your parents will be glad to know that too. I'm sure your mom has been beside herself."

Con leans back in his chair, in no hurry to leave this evening. TJY could wait...he didn't want to think about work...he didn't want to work on any cases...he just wanted to sit...and be with Jamie.

Kyle grins at Katie. "Oh yeah, it's been absolutely forever since you've seen my handsome face." He makes his way to the other side of the room, tossing Jason's phone into his bag, then aiming for the extra bed. He puts his hands on his hips and places a foot on the mattress to shake it. "You gonna be sociable or what?"

Without even looking, Jason's arm shoots out from under his pillow, grabs Kyle's ankle and twists it just right to throw him off balance.

Before he can react, Kyle is on the floor. He lets out a pitiful groan. "Aw, man...will someone please remind me the next time I approach him that he's trained to fend off people like me?"

Jason finally props himself up on his elbows, opening his eyes to squint sleepily in the light. He stares down at Kyle, a grin starting to form. "You ought to know better than to wake a sleeping guard dog."

"You're telling me." Kyle rubs the back of his head, managing to get back on his feet. "This is what I get for being nice and bringing your phone back for you?" He looks down at Katie. "He's a mean sucker, I tell ya."

"I coulda been a lot meaner."

"I have no doubt." Kyle rolls his eyes. "You look like you've been through the wringer."

Jason sits up and yawns before shrugging. "Just your norm. Having a friend kidnapped and tortured, going in for a rescue, winding up with three people dead, and all that on about three hour's worth of sleep. How's that?"

Kyle's eyes widen. He would have laughed, had he not realized that Jason was being serious. "Okay, so I have great timing too, don't I?"

"Don't worry about it. Thanks for bringing my phone back."

"No problem. I gotta scoot - gotta be down at work to close up tonight. But the guys and I wanted to know if you'd be up for practice tomorrow night. We want to get a lineup for the songs we're doing for the fundraiser and figure out exactly what we're doing."

Jason nods. "I hope so. Once things calm down at TJY, we should be okay."

"Great. We're gonna meet at Mikes at seven o'clock." Kyle starts for the door, tossing Katie another smile and wave. "Wish I could stay and chat, but I gotta run." He thumbs towards Jason. "And keep this rogue under control, will ya?"

Jason shakes his head after Kyle leaves, not being able to help a short laugh. He starts to say something, but his phone rings, interrupting. After a short conversation, he ends the call. "Well...Reese told me to take the evening off. Carson is in the secure cell and we're laying low for a couple days. So..." He glances up at the clock. "I could run to Mom and Pop's and bring back a pizza if you're game."

Carson sits up on the narrow cot in the dim room. It was small...stark...but nothing like the damp basement he'd been in recently. TJY was an intriguing place. He'd thought something like it existed, but hadn't imagined the extent. They really did have a handle on a lot more things than just the Agency. It was extremely interesting.

He looks up as he hears the lock on the door and Rick enters with a tray of food. "Here's your supper. You probably won't have any more company 'til the morning. Reese is calling Jason to tell him to take the night off until this whole thing blows over. Just change that bandage like I told you to in a few hours, and you should be fine." Rick looks at him, not knowing if he should feel sorry for him or not. "There's an intercom button there if there's an emergency, but don't expect anyone to come running too quick."

Carson doesn't react much, not surprised. "If I die in the night, I've got what I deserved."

Rick studies him for a moment, then turns to leave, locking the door securely behind him. Reese had a camera in his office - if Carson made any strange moves, they'd know.

A little Lie

*As Jason drifts to sleep Katie watches him. She hadent thought about what it would be like when she left the hospetil. She wouldent be spending much time with Jason or seeing him that much anymore. He was always welcomed at Laura's but would he really come. Could the look she saw in Jason's eye change after they dont see much of eachother. Katie could only hope it wouldent and that he would still come around alot. Jason had open again opened up those feeling inside Katie, and she was having a hard time seeing him as just a friend even though she tryed. Finally removing her gaze from Jason Katie leans her head back and fall asleep to her own dreams.*

*Jamie smiles as Con had returned.*

"I'm doing the best I can be I guess. Still sore but I guess thats a givin that I will be for a while. How are you feeling?"

* A soft knock can be hurd on the door as Jamie turns her attachen to see Dr.Tailbit standing in the doorway looking at a chart.*

"Jamie, its good to see you awake."

*Going over to Jamie he checks her vitals, changes the bandage on her face.*

"Everything looks good."

*Dr. Tailbit turns to leave but stops turning back to Con and Jamie.*

"I wouldent sapose eather of you would like to tell me whats going on would you? I am awfle worryed as to why someone would lie to me when there friend just got really hurt."

*Shocked Jamie looks to Con than back to the Dr.. Not sur what to say. Looking down at her hands Jamie gives out a sigh.*

"I would like to tell you Dr. Tailbit. You should know whats going on. You see...I started hanging out with some people I thought were my friends but I was wrong, as you can see. This guy here and the others you talked to out in the waiting room tryed to tell me there were no good but I dident listen. Well the people that hurt me, they were part of a cult I guess you could say and I was there lamb. When i dident come home my friends new something was wrong and came to get me. The other people are long gone by now."

*Dr.Tailbit looks at Jamie a bit saprised by what was said.*

"Well I guess that explins everything. There are still holes but...for now this is fine."

*Dr. Tailbit scans Jamies face for a long moment and than Con's finally turning and leaves the room.*

*Jamie leans her head aganst the pillow and turns to Con.*

"Hoping that will stop him from asking anymore questions."

*As Kyle bursts into the room Katie cant help but let out a shreek and a laugh.*

"I'm fine but I think Jason might kill you now Kyle. How are you? It feels like AGES since I have seen you all!"

Wake up

Jason chuckles at the remark about food. "Yeah, well, you'll be getting out of here soon enough." He tosses Katie a wink. "I'm gonna miss hanging out up here. I'm not gonna know what to do, going to stay at Con's and having a real bed to sleep in."

After finishing eating, Jason is so drowsy that he decides it would be best to catch a nap before going back to work. Not even bothering to take his boots off, he flops down on his stomach on the spare bed, tucking his arms up under the pillow and falling asleep almost immediately.

Con makes his way back down the hospital hall. He's cleaned up and a little more alert after an hour's worth of sleep, though the weariness behind his eyes is still evident. Despite tiredness, he pastes a pleasant look on his face and slips into Jamie's room. Seeing her awake, he smiles. "Hey, you." He sinks down in the chair. "How ya doing?"

"Hey, wake up, ya lazy bum!" Kyle bursts into Katie's room, eying Jason's sleeping form. "It's suppertime, not bedtime!"

Jason groans and buries his head further into his pillow.

Kyle grins and holds up Jason's cell phone. "Since you never showed up at Mike's for this, I figured I'd stop on by." He gives Katie a small wave. "And how's the pretty lady doing today?"

Bang

*As Jason eyes look deep into hers Katie's heart starts to race. Yes he could do that with just a look.Katie feels as though everythng on her mind could be layed infront of Jason without a problem saying any of it like in the past. Katie blushes again she starts to reply.*

"You....."

*Only to be cut off midsentince by Laura. Taking her eyes from Jason's Katie looks up twords the door and smiles.*

"Hey Laura. Its ok, you got more important things to do with Con."

*Katie gives alittle wave as Laura leaves. Turning back to Jason and the food.*

"Oh goodness I'd love one. I am so tired of hospetal food its not funny."

*Katie takes the sandwiche and beams a small glint in her eyes.*

"Thank you."

*A few hours later Jamie wakes and looks around the room forgeting where she was for a moment. It was quiet and dim in the room. As Jamie is alone her mind reels. After the avents that have happens much had changed inside of her. Jamie felt stronger yet scaired still. Going back home was going to be hard. As Jamies mind wanders the quietness a loud bang is hurd in the hall way sending Jamie flying up in bed her eyes wide and a hand to her chest. What was that? Relizing it was only a noice in the hall of a nurse droping a tray Jamie relaxes slittle buts heart is still racing.*

Sandwiches

Jason's grin widens at Katie's embarrassment. For the first time, he felt none, only a relaxed amusement, despite the feelings that Katie's touch had stirred up.

"Don't tease," he warns. "I might just take you up on that." He rolls over to prop himself up on an elbow, still slung over her lap, but facing her upright now. He lets his piercing gaze land on her eyes, trying to see through her words to her heart. There were things there that weren't before... Since he'd gotten back from Texas, he'd seen something new in her...a happiness...a peace... it lured him in with an intense curiosity as to what it was.

Drawing back out of his intense stare, he studies her face, the same grin toying with his mouth. "What's going on inside that head of yours, Hero? Hmm?"

"Alright, you two."

Jason sits up quickly, looking to the door as Laura enters. "Ever heard of knocking?"

"No." Laura grins. "It's more fun to scare you." She holds up a brown paper sack. "It's two in the afternoon and I'd be willing to bet you haven't had anything to eat, so I brought some sandwiches and fruit juice."

Jason finally stands up to accept the food. "Well, you're right, so I'm not going to refuse. Thanks."

"No problem." Laura cocks her head to see around him and wave at Katie. "Hey. Hate to run, but I want to see Con then I'm needed back a the office. "I'll see you again soon."

With Laura leaving again, Jason flops down in the chair and finds several sandwiches in the bag. He holds one up to Katie. "Got extra. Want one?"

Con chuckles just a little. "I'll be fine, now that I know you're alright. No need to bother your mother - she's got enough to worry about the way it is."

He nods, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "Of course I'll be back. You're not getting rid of me that easy."

As she drifts off to sleep, he watches her for several more minutes before finally getting to his feet and turning to exit the room. His eyebrows raise at seeing Laura, but he doesn't greet her until they're both in the hall, so as not to wake Jamie back up. "Hi."

"Don't 'hi' me," Laura chides. "Come here." She holds out her arms to receive the always-comforting bear hug. "You okay?"

Con pulls away, never able to lie to his sister, but not really wanting to open himself up right now. "Yeah...I will be."

"Good." Laura holds up her second sack. "Go find somewhere to sit down and get something in your stomach, then you're going home to bed."

Con rolls his eyes. "What is it with you and Jamie?"

"Apparently we care." Laura looks up at her brother, searching his eyes. "And from what I hear, you apparently care an awful lot about her too."

Con takes the sack from her, his eyes shifting past hers. "Yeah."

Laura smiles, knowing she shouldn't tease. "She couldn't have snagged anyone better." She reaches up to pat her brother's shoulder. "Take care of yourself. I'm heading to the office."

I wouldent mind

*As Katie receves Jason's words she relizes what she was doing her face turning 3 differnt shades of red. Drawing her hand back she laughs nervsly.*

"Sorry J...I dident even relize...I did mean to...I...ah forget it."

*As Katie's face is still read she smiles relaxing alittle.*

"If you dident move J, I wouldent mind at all."

*Kaite smiles down at Jason her eyes dancing. Though she was royaly embarssed she felt content and comfortable. It was such a good feeling. Katie hoped after she went back home to Laura's house Jason and her would still spend much time together. Though bein in the hospetal and having to learn how to walk again was hard the good that came from it was Jason being there. Even if they had there rough patches. Things seemed to be coming together, as Katie relized, you shouldent rush thing and force them to happen. Just let it take its own corse and what comes of it will. As Katie keeps her eyes on Jason her smile widens good memories fill her mind pushing the bad ones away leaving room for even more to come.*

*Jamie smiles the best she can and nods at Con. Taking in his kiss and savering it. As he pulls away Jamie searches his eyes and see the glint of exsausten.*

"The sooner I get better and out of here the better. You go home and get some sleep too ok, For me. You just got over being sick youself and need to keep your strangth up as well. Than when you wake up eat something. I think I'll talk to my mom and have her bring over something that way I KNOW you will eat it."

*Jamie throws Con a wink her eyes twinkling.*

"Will you be back later?"

*Jamie gently holds Con's hand, for a moment scaired to let it go. Con made her feel safe. She new he would never let anything happen to her. and now she new he would fight tooth and nail for her. That though braught a warm feeling to Jamie. After a few moment Jamie lets go so Con can go home and get some rest himself. Drozyness overtaking her finally chasing her into sleep herself.*

You may never

As Katie’s fingers start to comb through Jason’s hair, he automatically relaxes, his eyes falling shut, barely listening to Katie’s words. Her touch is so soothing… Jason catches himself, having to force his mind back on track when Katie’s remarks have ended. He bits his lower lip, fighting the desire just to stay right here.

His eyes still closed, he quirks a small grin. “Katie…you keep this up, you may never get me to move again.”

Con leans forward to receive Jamie’s affection and draws away just enough to see her eyes. He gently moves a strand of hair from her face and bends down to offer another kiss, letting it linger for several moments before finally pulling himself away. “You rest now, okay? You need your strength.”

Happy Again?

*Nate turns with Wyatt geting a silly grin on his face. As they leave He's gives Wyatt a head lock...*

"Cant you move those short legs any faster. Lets see whats going on with Carson. You act like we just killed people or something."

*Nate heads to Ricks with Wyatt in the headlock still. Finally geting to the room. Behind reminded of Ed Nate nods and heads to Con's office.*

*Katie nods at Hal and heads back to her room only minutes later being greeted by Jason.*

"When would I deny your company J?"

*Katie gives a silly grin, and jumps alittle as Jason flops across her lap only to giggle afterwords. Tilting her head to look at Jason the right way she cant help but laugh some more. Without thinking as she talks Katie stands to run her hand through Jason's hair massasing his head along the way.*

"Things are pritty good for me. Had therapy again today. Doing pritty good. Gonne be out of this thing in no time. I am hoping by the time of the fundraiser. Other than that I have been worryed sick about you guys and Jamie. Now that she is here and going to be ok, I feel I can relax a bit. I was really worryed. I am happy everything worked out and I am glad your back too."

*Katie flashes a smile at Jason.*

*Jamie cant help but let a small tear roll down her face.*

"You'll never lose me Con. I'll always find my way back to you. Your to impotant to me to let go that easy."

*Jamie stairs Con in the eyes for a long moment. Enjoying feeling his hand on hers. How she missed him the last few days. Jamie's eyes dance as she moves her finger for Con to come closer. Softly planting a small kiss on his lips.*

Beautiful

Wyatt grimace at Nate, as they aim for Reese’s office. “Well, he can’t yell too loudly…I don’t see we had any other choice. Besides that…it was Jason’s suggestion after all….” He rolls his eyes knowing he wouldn’t intentionally put the blame on any one person.

Passing Susanne with a wave, Wyatt heads for his dad’s door, giving a quick knock before entering.

Reese looks up expectantly at them both. “Well?”

“We’re back.” Wyatt nods decisively. “Chris should be on his way back there to clean up the scene, and Jason is back for the moment, though he’ll be heading on over to the hospital soon.”

He pauses, trying to word things in a way that won’t stir anything up.

Reese raises an eyebrow at the hesitance. “And…?”

Wyatt glances at Nate, then back to his father. “We brought some company along?”

“Company?”

“Yeah. There was a guy who Jason shot but it was just a flesh wound. We didn’t think we should kill him off, or send him back to the Agency, so…”

“You brought him here?!” Reese’s eyes widen.

“Now, look, Carson said he wanted to help us,” Wyatt defends. “We’re not sure if we should believe him or not, but we decided that we’d bring him here to feel him out. If we still felt he wasn’t going to benefit us, we’d turn him over to the law for stuff he’s done.”

Reese looks between Wyatt and Nate, not sure how to react. “So let me get this straight… a member of the Agency is here…at TJY.”

“Yeah, Rick is patching him up.”

Reese rolls his eyes, tossing his pen in the air. “Why do I even try to keep a handle on things. My core group of agents…. One is in a wheelchair, one keeps on breaking the rules, one just quit on me this morning, I got another in the hospital now too, and you two bring back the enemy! The only one not causing me trouble is Susanne!”

Susanne looks up from her computer as she hears her name from the next room. She bites her lip, trying not to smile.

Reese shakes his head, taking a deep breath. “Alright. Do what you must. I wasn’t there, so I can’t say what I would have done. Lock this fellow…Carson…down in the holding room until we decide what to do with him.”

“Right.” Wyatt nudges Nate with an elbow as he turns to go. “We’re on it.”

Jason watches as Carson is patched up, then turns around as Wyatt and Nate show up in the doorway. “Oh, hey. We’re just about done here.”

“Good,” Wyatt nods. “We’ll take him downstairs from here. Get him settled in a safe spot for a while until we decide what to do.”

Carson looks between all of them, suspicion in his eyes. “Downstairs?”

Wyatt smirks. “It’s a whole lot nicer than that basement where you were keeping Jamie, I’ll tell you that.”

Carson grits his teeth. “Look, if you wanna play this game, don’t play it with me, because I’ll win. You want me out of here, just say so. I gave you the chance once and you chickened out.”

Before Wyatt can respond, Jason holds up his hand. “Cut it out before I shoot both of you. Now look…” He glances to Carson. “As far as I’m concerned, you’re the lowest piece of trash I ever met. But for some odd reason, I’m willing to have a little faith here. And you…” Jason looks to Wyatt. “Cool it before we start another war.”

Wyatt quirks an eyebrow, taken aback by the fact that he’s getting reprimanded by the one person who was always flying off the handle himself. “Well, yes sir, cap’in.”

Jason rolls his eyes. “Just take Carson downstairs, will you? I’m getting out of here to see what’s up at the hospital. Oh, and Nate, Ed is in Con’s office. You might want to check on him.”

Hal watches the doctor walk away, and shakes his head at Katie. “I don’t know. I guess we just play it cool for now. He may or may not stick to his own promise.” He glances at his watch. “I’m heading back over to TJY for now. Since you’re here, you might keep an eye out for anything strange.”

Jason kills the engine on his bike and within moments is headed into the hospital. It seemed strange…he was so used to this route by now. He stops at the nurse’s station to inquire about Jamie and finds out that she’s going to be okay. Knowing this, he makes his way upstairs, opting to head for Katie first.

Poking his head around the corner of the doorframe, he gives a weary smile. “Opposed to company?” He slips inside Katie’s room, not being able to help his slight grin. “If I look as tired as I feel, don’t tell me.” He approaches her bed and sits next to her, suddenly flopping down on his back across her lap, yawning and stretching himself out with his feet still on the floor. “So how are things at your end of the world?”

A small smile creases Con’s lips, and he reaches over to take Jamie’s hand. “You’re always beautiful, you know that.” He runs his thumb along her hand gently. “Welcome back. …I thought I’d lost you for good this time.” He studies her face, just letting his eyes linger on her. “I’m just glad we found you…I don’t know what I would have done if we hadn’t.”
