Thinking

Con turns to watch Jamie head to her car. He opens his mouth to say something, but realizes that he has nothing in mind that he could even verbalize. His stomach is in knots and his palms are sweaty. What was happening to him?

As the headlights of the tow truck come into view, Con has to force himself to push aside this evening's events in order to take care of the matter at hand.

Several hours later...

Con tosses his keys onto the table and wanders into the living room, flopping down in his easy chair. His habit was to go for the television remote, but tonight he just lets the darkness settle in. He reaches over to the answering machine and presses the button. He's surprised but relieved to hear Jason's voice. "Yo, Conrad. I'm heading back your way. I, um...well, thanks for your call. We'll talk more later. For now I'll head for Katie...if I don't show up at your place tonight, it means I stayed at the hospital. Talk to you soon."
Con assumes that by now Jason was probably back in town, and apparently he was at the hospital...which hopefully meant his head was on straight and he and Katie were okay. Good for him.

Too quickly, Con's mind is propelled back to Jamie. He didn't think he'd ever had a women tell him they loved him before... He'd had a girlfriend only once in his life, but they'd both been young without much sense of anything, and it had ended quickly. This...with Jamie...it was something he'd never encountered before. What was he supposed to do?

Con knew that Jamie had just poured her heart out to him. She hadn't been lying, and her feelings were obviously real. But...he hadn't even known... he felt more awkward than anything, and he certainly didn't feel what he would consider to be a romantic love towards her. She'd just always been like a sister... His mind replays the scene in the restaurant, then at the side of the road. Con couldn't deny that all of a sudden something had stirred inside of him. He could assume that it was silly surface emotions that boiled over in the heat of the moment, due to his lack of better judgment. But at the same time...it had all been meant to tease...he'd had no further intentions when he'd kissed Jamie. There should have been no feelings at all, no matter her reaction or not. But...there had been. Something had happened. Something electrical.

He leans further back in his chair with a sigh. If someone would have asked him that very morning if he'd ever been attracted to Jamie, he would have told them they were out of their mind. But he'd seen something different tonight...she wasn't the same... or was it him who wasn't the same? Was what he was feeling a genuine attraction? And if so...was it meant to be laid aside as a fleeting surface emotion that needed to be doused with cold water, or was it meant to be pursued...tested?

Jason becomes just a little thoughtful as he takes Katie down the hall. "Yeah...well...it wasn't quite the same without you around either." He helps her into the cafeteria and through the line, carrying her food and getting settled at a little round table.

Tired of the seriousness in the air, Jason attempts small talk, speaking about his time with Clint, seeing some of the other people at the ranch, and what he saw on his way back to Nevada.

Once the meal is over, Jason wheels Katie back down the hall, but instead of heading for her room, he takes to the door. "Now...I'll introduce you to my new baby." He grins as they go through the doors and out to the parking lot. Many cars are parked in the spaces, and from their angle, as he's heading down the row, it appears to simply be all old vehicles. But as they come around a parked van, the space next to it isn't empty as it had seemed to be. Instead, it's taken by a shiny black motorcycle, the chrome glinting in the beams of the parking lot lights. Faint wisps of sapphire blue accent the paint job. It's not a large bike, though its height is adequate for Jason's long legs, and there is enough room for a second rider.

Jason stops, a smile spreading across his face. "Clint took me to his favorite shop last night and helped me pick her out." He laughs. "He wanted to test drive it too, but it was almost too tall for him." He cocks his head at Katie, realizing his want for her approval. "So...what do you think?"

Wasent the same

*Jamie continues to smile at Con. She is happy that she finally let Con know how she felt. Even if he dident shair her feels. Her heart it felt, free. It was strange how she felt so comfortable with Con. Maybe it was because she new him for so long. Her eyes linger gazing deep into Con's.*

"Its ok Con, You had no idea cuz I dident want you to know till now. You dont need to say anything. Not now I understand."

* Jamies eye truly express she understands how Con feels at the moment and is willing to give him as much time as he needs. Turning Jamie heads back to her car alittle bounce in her step as she is still lightheaded from there kiss and the moment she just shaired with Con. Turning she calls back to him.*

"If ya need anything or just wanna hang out, let me know. You have my number Con."

*Jamie beams her eyes filled with light like the battle with her feels was gone and all that remaind was the love.*

*Katie cant help but beam as Jason helper her into her chair. She though looking at Jason as just a friend would be hard and feel strange but it dident at all. Katie was content with Jason desition.*

" I wonder whats for dinner tonight, my tummy is really growling now."

*Happyness, contentment, peace. All her new feelings she found and Jason was back, things were good. Truly this was part of God's bigger plane and the peace she was looking for. Katie feels a bit nervouse but excited to hear about Jason's new ride.*

"Oh...some new wheels huh? I'd like to see it when we are done."

*Katie lets a sad sigh escape as for a moment Katie thinks of her car. But as fast as it came it went again and she felt happy for Jason.*

" I cant wait to see it J. I'm glad your back. It wasent the same without you."

Sight

Con can hear Jamie come up behind him, and tenses just a little, unsure of what she will do or say. She’d seemed less than upset back at the restaurant, but if it had simply been in the heat of the moment after the stunt he’d pulled, there was no telling what her opinion was of him now.

As she comes around in front of him, he sees her eyes…so clear, so bright on this dark evening. How had he never noticed their beauty?

Her hand on his face sends a chill down his spine, and he swallows hard, feeling incredibly awkward and so alive at the same time. He’d felt her touch how many times before? He’d stood before her how many times since he’d known her? And not once had he felt like this.

In a single instant, everything had changed.

Con stands still, stunned by the soft words being spoken. Awkwardness is replaced by pure shock. Jamie had had feelings for him for a long time. Had he been that blind never to have noticed? He’d hung out with her, he’d been a friend…maybe a shoulder a time or two. But…love?

For but a moment, he’s not even sure if he can believe Jamie… but her tone…her eyes…they didn’t lie. She meant every word. Reality tries to convince him that whatever Jamie is feeling is just surface and will pass – his impulsiveness had simply driven it over the top. But…he can’t deny the depth of the emotion in her eyes. He can’t deny the resounding truth in her words.

Right before Con’s eyes, a transformation takes place. Jamie…the young girl…the ‘little sister’…the buddy coworker… they fade away, replaced by a woman who was laying her heart bare before him. She’s not the Jamie he has known these last few years…somehow…somewhere along the way, she had changed into someone that he had simply been blind to. This woman before him was not the same girl he’d met when she’d started working at TJY. There was so much more to her…so much more depth than he’d ever seen before, and it left him lingering in the same state of shock.

After a long pause, he finally reaches to take her hand in his. For the first time in his life, his fingers tremble slightly. A thousand emotions pool behind his eyes, and his voice returns softer and gentler than ever before. “I had no idea, Jamie.” He pauses again, his mind so busy that he simply doesn’t know where to go from here. He can’t even decipher his own feelings as they bounce in all directions. “I…I don’t know what to say.”

Jason grins and stands up from the bed, beginning to relax around Katie again. “Alright then. Lets get you out of this dang room.” He gets her wheelchair in place, and doesn’t even give her enough time to do anything herself, but reaches down to pick her up and set her in the chair. “…And maybe after supper we can slip on outside so you can see my new set of wheels too.”
He aims for the door, a feeling of contentment settling over him. There was so much he was thinking of…but Katie always seemed to make it easier.

A Single Whisper Of Love

*As Jamie listens to Con say sorry a feeling comes over her. No...Con couldent think he had done something wrong. These feeling inside her, they had been let free and could not be put back now. It was all or nothing. She had grown to love Con and there was no if and or but about it. He's been there for her though the past. He was her shoulder to cry on and they grew as friends from there till one day Jamie relized she did love him. There was no turning that back now. Slowly Jamie gets out of her car and comes upbehind Con. Strafing around him so she is in front to meet his eyes. It was dark out now and the only light on the darkroad was the moon and stars. They were there, now in the glory of god and his wonderful sky. Gently Jamie rubs her hand on the side of Con's face and down his neck till resting it on his shoulder. Looking Con dead in the eyes Jamie brings her lips close to Con's ear at she stands on her tip toes softly speeking.*

"Don't be sorry Con. I'm not. I cant turn back now and hold my feeling in. Its been to long I have. Its time to let them free, and its time for you to know. Con, I love you. I've loved you for a very long time now but opted to keep that feeling hidden away. I know you probley dont know what to say or what to feel, and thats ok. I wouldent exspect you to right away. But Con...I wanted you to know how I feel."

*Jamie breaths softly for a moment her lips lingering close to Con ear. Than slowly Jamie pulls herself away, her eyes never leaving Con's.*

*Katie smiles at Jason. It was a nice feeling for him to addmit he wanted her with him to tell the band. It would be nice to shair there story together. KAtie tummy grumbles making her relize she hasent eaten dinner. Katie laughs.*

"I guess I havent. Dident think about it till now. Thats also a silly question to ask Jason. OF corse I want you to eat with me. I couldent think of anyone better than my best bud J to eat with."

*Kaite beams at Jason.*

"If you can help me into my chair I'd like to go to the Cafe with you. I'm geting very sick and antcy of being in bed and this room."

Sorry

Con almost jumps as Jamie touches her shoulder. But it’s not the startled feeling that lingers, but rather one as if she’d had an electrical current running through her fingers.

He sighs and walks lamely to the car, sliding into the passenger seat, his long legs taking up all the room available. His hands are set on his lap, and he stares out the windshield, unable to even dare look over to Jamie. He opens his mouth once to say something, but then changes his mind, and simply remains silent until they reach his car by the side of the road.

After Jamie’s vehicle is stopped, Con is quick to exit. He goes to his car, but reaching it, he leans up against it, his back still to Jamie, but within earshot. He couldn’t just let this go. “Jamie…I’m sorry.” Though not even seeing her, his face grows hot all over again. “I shouldn’t have done that.”

Jason quirks an eyebrow at Katie’s suggestion of security. He almost questions her as she still can’t walk, but he decides to let it go for now.

He looks at her, his eyes narrowing slightly as she mentions letting people make their own decisions. Maybe he did try to second guess or even dictate people... He knew he’d done that with Katie… But he was only trying to protect those he cared about…

A slight chuckle escapes in reference to Kyle. “Yeah, he was razzing me before I left about that. I have a feeling he knows I’m into something heavy, and has probably figured as much out about you, but would rather tease than ask directly.”

Jason sighs deeply, lost in thought for a moment. “I’d like it if we told them together…they need to know about both of us. And if I crash and burn, at least I won’t be alone.” He grins a little. “But…I’ll call them about meeting sometime tomorrow. For now…have you eaten supper? I haven’t had a bite since lunch, and you know I’ll be great company if I wait any longer.” He rolls his eyes. “That is…if you don’t mind me eating here…with you.”

Drive Back

*So many thoughts and feelings run through Jamie's mind. Con had been her friend for ages and she had feelings for him for years. But was always scaired to show them. Now she layed her heart and feelings out on the table for Con. He need the deeper side of her. Would he push her away, pretend it dident happen, or would think bring them closer. Jamie cant help but hope. She couldent think of anyone she would rather be with than Con. As Jamie hears the bell she opens her eyes and stop leaning on the wall.*

"Ok..I can drive ya back if you want. I dont mind one bit."

*Jamie can feel Con's feeling of being a fool and only smiles. As she makes her way to her car she places her hand on Con shoulder not saying anything than removes it as she makes her way to her car to make there way back to Con's car.*

*Kaite leans back and thinks.* "Well...I know the band arnt bad people. I can just tell they are clean and good. As for Reese maybe he would feel safe about you being in the band if I was on the Security roster. I probley would be at the concerts anyways. And for puting them in danger, you should stop making people desitions for them..."

*Katie gives a wery grin hoping Jason wont take offence.*

"...and let them make the desition for themself. Kyle already thinks you part of the F.B.I.! Sooner or later I need to tell them about myself seeing as I am puting them in danger just as much as you are. If you want we can tell them together."

Speechless

Con is taken completely off guard as Jamie spins him back around, and his eyes widen as she draws him close. Forced to lean down as she puts her lips to his again, his hand automatically goes to the side of her face, unable to help but kiss her back, his eyes closing for just a moment.

As Jamie lets him go, all he can do is stare at her, utterly speechless. Watching her leave, he blinks, his world feeling as though it's totally flipped on its axis. Hardly able to think straight, he turns around to dumbly head to the phone, though it takes him several moments just to get enough sense back to look up the number he needs and dial.

Finishing up, he aims for the door, but finds himself taking his time. He can see through the window that Jamie is waiting for him, and he has no idea what he could even possibly say to her. He can feel Mable's eyes on him as he leaves, but for once, he can't turn around and smile, knowing the redness in his face remains.

The bell on the door rings as he opens it, and his stomach gives a little unfamiliar lurch, the palms of his hands going sweaty. He can't get his mind to stop replaying the feeling of Jamie in his arms...the warmth...the unexpected adrenaline rush...

He takes a deep breath to sidestep these strange emotions. Ever since Jamie had come to TJY, he'd just been friends with her. He knew she'd had a rough past, and he'd always just seen her as a little sister, out to protect her and be a buddy. ...And not ten minutes ago, he'd still felt that way. But now... the feeling that had entered his veins in a single instant was rapidly spreading, and he had no idea what to do with it.

Finally mustering up enough courage, he steps out into the evening air, and glances down to the side to see Jamie. He swallows hard, barely able to crack a smile as the shock lingers. "Um...the tow truck is gonna meet me at my car, so, um, I can either walk, or....I guess if...if you don't mind, you could, um, swing me back out there and...and drop me off."

Feeling like a total idiot who can't talk, he turns his back to Jamie, setting a hand on his hip, and taking the other to rub his forehead, wincing at his own retarded actions.

Jason sets the picture down, smiling. “I figured it was Kyle ‘cause he was the one working on the band’s promo stuff, and he’s got an eye for art.”

He lets a pause into the conversation before straightening to flop back down on the bed, his feet still on the floor as he stares up at the ceiling. “I don’t know what to do, Katie…I want to join that band so bad… But I don’t know how it’s even possible. First thing Reese is gonna ask is if the guys can be trusted because I can’t play with them without explaining about where I work.” Jason shakes his head. “Though I got that one taken care of - Susann's run a background check on them, and I know it's clean. But then Reese is not going to want me to take much time off for the band... and on top of that, he’s still leery about me being out in public, even though it looks like whoever tried to kill me has backed off. And then, even if he says yes, which I doubt, I have to tell the band about all of this. Not only will they have to decide if it’s worth it if sometimes I have to bail on them for a case, but they’ll have to decide if it’s worth putting themselves at risk, because if anyone is after me, the whole band could be in danger.”

He groans and sits up again, looking at Katie. “When I played with them at that park, I had more fun than I had in years…and people actually liked me. But how…? How can I do this? How can I knowingly put these guys in danger? I feel like I'm chasing a foolish dream.”

The Kiss

*Jamie is shocked for a moment but than melts in Con's arm. She wasent exspecting the kiss but loved every moment of it. As Con walks away Jamie decieds she had let him slip from her fingers to much in the past and now was the time to let Con know. Grabing his arm she spins him back around and smiles her eyes twinkling drawing him close and kissing him again lingering for a moment than leting go, her own face red but a smile held non the less*

"Now you can make your call. I'll be outside."

*Slowly Jamie turns and feels as thoug she is floting, everything spinning as a smile is pasted on her face and butterflys in her tummy.*

*Mable gasps from the Kitchen and shreeks.*

"HERB THEY KISSED AGAIN CON WALKED AWAY JAMIE GRABED HIM AND KISSED HIM AGAIN....HERB HERB"

*Herb smiles from the kitchen seeing what happend and knowing it was the first kiss they shaired.*

"I saw Mable it was perfect. Now leave them be for once."

*Once outside Jamie leans aganst the building folding her leg up. Closing her eyes she waits for Con replaying the kiss over and over in her mind. Her heart racing and her tummy doing flipflops.*

*Kaite smile at Jasons thankful for the subject change and nods leting him know later they will talk more about it. For now all was said that needed to be.*

"Ya he was how did you know?"

*Katie beams as Jason like it.*

Oops

Con gives Jamie a teasing glance as they hear her parents talking in the kitchen. "I wish more people were like them - your mom couldn't care less what other people think of her opinion." He grins. "I like that."

The meal is finished in peace, Con finally able to unwind after the day, relaxing in this atmosphere. Polishing off the last slice of pizza, Con licks his fingers and prepares to pay, then make a phone call. He stands up and a sidelong glance proves that Mable is keeping a close eye on him and Jamie. Feeling ornery, he look down at Jamie. "You know, I really hate to continue disappointing your mom like this." A sly grin forms, and before anyone can react, he takes Jamie's hand to pull her up out of her chair, swinging her into a low dip. Not even thinking, Con presses his lips to hers, holding the kiss several moments for effect. Drawing away though, it suddenly hits him what he'd just done, and he stares Jamie in the eye as he holds her. Before he can stop it, his face turns several shades of red. He quickly rights Jamie, letting her go as a wave of embarrassment hits him like never before. He'd meant to tease, but the strange feeling in his gut that made his pulse race was not something he'd counted on.

He clears his throat and looks away from Jamie toward the back of the restaurant. "I gotta go make that call." Turning around, he goes quickly for the phone, his face still red.

Jason sees the flicker of disappointment in Katie's eyes, and for a moment, he's afraid he made a wrong move. But her words make him feel a little better...she was still willing to be his friend...and that's what he wanted. He could do this...Austin and Clint had been right...

He starts to say more, but as Katie changes the subject, he lets her, deciding that everything needed to be said had been stated.

He looks at the picture and smiles. "Wow. This is really good. Let me guess - it was Kyle who wanted you to do this?"

Its ok

*Mable smiles and disapears into the back. Leting Herb know. With in minutes whispers can be heard.*

Mable: "Herb...look out there...are they gonna kiss again? Herb look."

Herb: "Mable would you stop and leave them be."

Mable: "Herb they kissed the other day I saw them and I want to know if they will again So look. I like seeing Jamie happy."

*Jamie smiles and shakes her head as she hears her parents talk."

"Those two I tell ya."

*After about 15 minutes Mable comes back out with a pizza.*

"Here ya guys go. Enjoy."

*Mable gets a silly grin on her face before turning to leave.*

*For a moment what Jason said hit Katie hard. Somewhere deep in her heart she wish for more with Jason. Her heart wants to close down again and put up the walls. Something wants to block out the pain by not feeling. No...Katie couldent let that happen. It was ok to feel that pain it ment she caired. and she new she would be ok. Jason was still her friend and that would have to be enough. Katie looks down at her hands trying to figure out her own words.*

"Well...I dont know how to say this myself, but I cant say I am a bit disapointed. I always liked you Jason you know that. I dont think I need to tell you again. But I understand your desition and respect it. If being just close friends is what you want, than I am ok with that and Just friends is what we shall be. Your very important to me Jason and I dont want to lose you all together. I'd like to still spend time with you, and have you here to watch movies as friends. I'd..like that very much. Also I dont think you have anything to say sorry for about the past. You dident act wrong at all."

*Katie thinks for a moment as she holds her small tear back and smiles.*

"Thank you Jason for coming to me and talking about it. It made it easyer hearing it from you than over hearing it, and I am ok with it. Friends we will stay J."

*Katie lets out a laugh.*

" I'm a poet and dident even know it.*

*Katie takes her pic out she had finishes drawing and giving color to it useing the logo Kyle had given her.*

"The band asked me to draw another on with color. You think it looks ok?"

Friends

Con grins at Mable, his mood starting to lighten, just being here. He aims for a table and sits down wearily. "How about a good shot of whiskey?" He throws her a wink and laughs. "Now that I'm here I might as well get supper, then I need to make a call. How about whipping up another one of them pizzas? That settled with me right well the other day."

Jason can't help but roll his eyes in amusement. "Strike two. That's the second time I should have realized what you were going to do." He shakes his head and moves to the other bed just a couple feet away to sit, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees so he's still near to her. He gives a short laugh. "Hmm...how am I supposed to say this?"

He thinks for a moment, deciding to get the most awkward part over with first. "I um...did a lot of thinking the last couple days, and...I guess I want to start off with an apology. I know that between us, nothing ever 'happened,' despite rumors and all that since we've spent so much time together, but at the same time...I'm sorry if anything I did crossed a line, or if I acted inappropriately."

The color in his cheeks proves that it's hard for him to admit he may have, and is slightly embarrassed as he thinks of the times he and Katie were alone. "I guess...I don't know how you view our friendship because we've never talked about it. We've just...gone with the flow I guess. Maybe I'm to blame for not making things clear enough. But I guess...well, Katie, you're the best friend I've ever had, and I realized, especially this weekend, how much you mean to me. I don't ever want to put our friendship on the line because of the stupid things I do, and goodness knows I never want to hurt you."

He pauses, his eyes dropping for just a moment before looking back up at her. "I want our friendship to last...I like what we have, and..." He tries to think of the right words... 'just friends' just sounded so harsh. "And I guess one thing I've realized about myself is that I'm happy with what we have, and if you are too, then I want to keep being close friends. I want to spend time with you, I want to stay here with you if you still want me to, I want to watch movies and have fun, and still work with you at TJY....whether you're with Wyatt or not, or with someone else, I hope that we can stay friends."

He searches her eyes for what she's feeling. "And if I ever do anything that crosses that line, or if I get in between you and someone else, I need you to tell me because I don't want to ruin anything."

Mom and Pop's

*Jamie smiles and nods*

"Its not a problem Con."

*After a shor drive Con and Jamie finally arrive at the dinner. Apon entering Mable wobbles out from the back room.*

"Hey Herb, look who the Katie draged in. They seems to be spending alot of time together to not be love birds. I think your wrong Herb."

*Jamie shoots her mom a look.*

Herb: "Mable...they just got here would you leave them alone."

*Mable turns and looks at Herb.*

"Now you listen here Herbert Sherbert I can talk to my own daughter."

*Herb rolls his eyes.*

"Sometimes I wonder if you ever grew out of your highschool stage."

*Mable smiles and goes over to Con and Jamie.*

"What can I get you guys?"

*For a moment Katie can sence Jason seroceness and she wonders whats gonna happen now.*

"Its ok J. You might as well tell me now while I am in a good mood. Anyways, I dont think anything you tell me can make me sad. Just haveing you back has brightend my day. So have at it"

*Katie holds her smiles and show the confadence on her face reasuring Jason its ok. She is ok.*

Incoming

Con grimaces and rubs his hands over his tired face. "Eh, just take me to the restaurant with you. I'll call someone from there to tow my car." He sighs wearily. "Thanks, Jamie. Appreciate the ride."

Jason listens to Katie, his mind glued to what she's saying, yet so far away at the same time. He gives her a crooked grin as she jumps through several different subjects, and he tries to stay on track. Chuckling, he counts them off on his fingers. "Glad you liked the rose...glad you liked the band - yes, they're awesome... and everything at the ranch is fine."

He pauses, growing just a little more serious. "Listen...I got some things I need to talk over with you about what's happening now...the band...us.... but I don't want to bombard you now."

Dont worry

*Jamie smiles at Con and pulls away.*

"Well I was heading over to the restront but if you need to go to a shop about geting a toe for you car we can. Where ever ya need to go let me know and I would be more than happy to take ya."

*Katie smiles at Jason. How good it was to see him again. Huging him back Katie sighs. He looked good. He alwasy looked good but now Katie looked at things in a new light. Her eyes and heart open. Jason's gaze caught in hers made her heart race.*

"Oh Jason....I forgave you the moment you left. I understand now why you did. Dont be sorry about what happend with Wyatt. What happend happend and I cant change that, there is no point worrying over it. We are still friends and thats what is important."

*Katie smiles stays on her face and her eyes search Jason.*

"Thank you for the Rose. They have always ment so much to me. My other one was starting to die so it was nice to get a new one. Oh and I see why you got along so well with the band J. They are great people and I had a really fun time. There so silly. I got to meet Kyle's sister Jen. She is great. Really nice. How is everyone at the ranch doing?"

Test

Con spins around as he hears a car slow and sees Jamie. His drops his shoulders a little, unafraid to show he's not too happy. But he doesn't exactly want to walk all the way back to his apartment. "Hey, Jamie." He slides into the passenger seat and shuts the door. "Sure, I'll take a lift. How about a new car too?" He rolls his eyes as he buckles his seat belt. "It's about time I got rid of that old bucket of bolts. Which direction you headed?"

A chuckle escapes as Jason's lips form a smile and he sits up. "I should have known better than to think I could get away with being in here without you knowing it. He gets up and closes the distance to Katie's bed. He sits down and reaches out to pull her into a big hug, just holding her tight for several moments before drawing away to look in her eyes. "You don't make it easy on a guy's conscience, you know that?" He grins, though his eyes show the seriousness of the thoughts running through his mind. "I didn't mean to leave you like I did...I guess I let my better judgment slip, and I'm sorry. Your friendship means the world to me, and I don't ever want to jeopardize it again." He lifts his arm to run the back of his hand down Katie's face. As he allows his eyes to assume their piercing gaze into hers, he suddenly realizes that his ultimate decision was already being tested. Looking at Katie now...her eyes were shining...she had a gentle peace about her...the setting sun cast its rays into the room to glint off her hair.

Jason's jaw tightens and he closes his eyes just a moment, forcing himself to withdraw his hand and refocus his train of thought. It's harder than he thought it would be. It was one thing to have made a decision on his own - it was another to be sitting here with Katie and to stick to that decision of friendship only.

"I, um...got your email. I was sorry to hear about you and Wyatt...glad you met the band though. I bet you all had fun."

A lift

*Wes smiles down at Cindy placing his hand on her face.*

"Soon my love I wont have to let go. I had a wonderful time too. Sleep well."

*Wes turns and heads to the barn before heading to bed himself.*

*As Katie sleeps her mind dances with Images of the days past. Everything had been so exciting. And Jason was coming home today. Jason.....as Katie sleep she can feel something in her room change. Oping her eyes slowly Katie see Jason she shoots up from bed her heart racing not being able to help her excitment.*

"JASON!!!!!!YOUR BACK"

*Katie cant help but smile bigger than ever. He was back and came to see her first.*

*As Jamies heads out she takes the back roads for once just wanting to enjoy the freshair with her convertable top down. She hadent talk to Con tomuch today he seems in a bad mood. Driving ferther down the road she can make out someone walks. Drawing closer she can tell its Con. Pulling up along side him she shouts.*

"Want a lift there stranger?"

*Jamie grins.*

Cindy laughs. “Mm….can I just stay here in your arms all night?” She sighs deeply. “I suppose you can drop me off at my bunk.” Once there, she slides off the horse and looks up at Wes. “Thanks, Wes…I had a wonderful time…good night.”

Night hangs on as long as it possibly can, but daylight must have its way. The sun breaks into the morning with a million bright colors, shimmering across the sky. The sleepy ranch slowly comes alive again as the new day begins. But already, they are one less. A note in the mess hall thanks everyone, and informs them that Jason has already left.

“He’s not going to call.”

“Yes he is!”

“It’s already seven o’clock!” Kyle slouches at the keyboard in Mike’s basement. “He baled.”

“Oh, stop,” Phil chides from his seat on the stool. He reaches up to tune his bass. “You know you don’t believe that. He’s been in Texas, for goodness sake. Maybe he couldn’t get to a phone on his way back. Or maybe he wanted to wait until he actually got back.”

“Oops.”

Phil and Kyle both look to Mike at his drumset, who is holding up his cell phone. “What?”

Mike looks at them sheepishly. “I have a message. I didn’t hear it earlier.”

“And??” Kyle asks hopefully.

Mike holds the phone up to his ear and listens before flipping it shut again. “It was Jason all right. But he said he needed to talk with us…said he couldn’t say yes or no until we’d heard the whole story.”

Kyle’s eyes widen. “The FBI.”

Phil rolls his eyes. “Oh, Kyle, knock it off with the FBI.”

“Just a thought.”

Mike shrugs and sets his phone aside. “Well, if he doesn’t join us, then we’ll have to make do. But he sure have a good excuse.”

Jason parks in the hospital parking lot, shutting off the engine. He waits a moment, taking a deep breath. He’d only been gone a couple days, but it felt like a lifetime. Exhaustion from driving since the wee hours of the morning didn’t help any. But his mind was plenty alert…it had to be.

It doesn’t take him long to make his way into the hospital, his backpack slung over his shoulder and his leather jacket on his arm. He runs a hand through his unruly hair as he heads down the familiar hall.

Arriving at Katie’s door, he stops, unsure of how to enter. There are so many things running through his mind…so many things he needs to say to her. Taking a deep breath, he cautiously cracks the door. “Katie?” Looking into the room, he sees her lying on her bed, her eyes closed. He quietly enters, closing the door behind himself. He makes his way silently across the room to set his backpack and jacket down. He looks down at Katie, just studying her for several moments. She was sleeping so peacefully…he was glad of that. It told him she was okay. He’d missed her so much…there was so much he wanted to tell her…

Sighing, he eases down on the extra bed, stretching out on his side, with his head on the pillow where he could still see Katie. He wouldn’t wake her now…he would let her sleep. Talking could wait.

“Aw for crying out loud!” Con straightens, just to hit his head on the open hood of his car. Grumbling, he slams it shut again. He’d just been headed down a back road in town from TJY and his car had just suddenly died. He’d made it onto the side of the road, but it would go no further. Not only that, but his cell phone battery was dead. This whole day had been like that. One thing after another at work. He’d hardly spoken to anyone, and everything he’d touched had gone wrong. And now this.
Grumbling, he grabs his keys from the ignition to stuff in his pocket, locks the doors and starts down the road on foot.

A New Flower

*Kaite smiles as Kyle helps her back to her room. Today was a good day and Katie was happy.*

"Thx again Kyle I had a great time. I'll call ya tomarrow with this pic finished. I doubt I could fall asleep now even if I tryed."

*As Kyle heads down the hall causing the nurse gref Katie cant help but laugh. As she sighs she leans her head back. Kyle, he was so nice, funny, and handsome. Katie flings her eyes open. Thats what the feeling in her tummy was. Her heart growing warm as she let someone in. Sooner or later she had to let Kyle know about her. Going for the drawing sapplys Can catches the Rose out of the courner of her eyes with Jason's message. Katie smiles the flower and smiles. He would be back tomarrow. How happy Katie was. Kaite gently replaces the dieing flower with the new one. Things were looking up already. Katie grabs the sapplys and starts her drawing.*

*Wes beams at Cindy picking her up again.*

"Next month it is than. You will be Ms. Cindy Henson. Whatever you need help planing I will help let me know. and I will get started right away on our house."

*Carring Cindy of to the horse he unties him with his free hand and helps Cindy up. Jumping on the horses back he hold Cindy tight as the make a dash in the open grass just running for the time being leting there happyness flow free. Finally as it starts to get darker Wes slowls down and takes the path back to the ranch.*

"So my dear lady to you bunk or alse where?"

*As Jamie hears Reese voice she hesatates for a moment but than enters.*

" Hey Reese I just wanted to give you these files and let you know I was heading out. I'll see you tomarrow."

*After leaving Reese office Jamie leans her head aganst the door. What was she doing? Why dident she just ask Reese if Con could have time off to help her. What was she so scaired of. Jamie shakes her head and heads for home.*

Evening Falls

Kyle finally turns to see Katie’s face, enjoying the warmth reflecting in her eyes. Something was different…he wasn’t sure he could put his finger on it, but something had changed since earlier that afternoon. “Ya know…I believe you. You and Jen will walk again, and when you do…I sure am gonna enjoy seeing you both here on this beach.”

After a moment, the silly glint returns to his eyes, as his mouth curls up into a grin. “Alright, KT, let’s get you on back before that nurse comes after us. I had nightmares last night that she was hunting us down for being too rambunctious.” His laugh tells he’s kidding, and he takes hold of the back of Katie’s chair to help her back to the truck.

The ride back to the hospital is just as crazy as it was going, though this time Kyle had somehow managed to get in the backseat before Mike, claming the spot next to Katie.

Getting back to the hospital, dusk is upon them, and just Kyle gets Katie back up to her room. He helps her out of her chair and onto her bed. Once settled, he takes a bag that he’d brought in with him. “I almost forgot…I got some paper, and some water colors, and some other stuff in here for ya.” He smiles, setting the bag down on the table. “If you still want to do that picture for us, have at it. I’ve got a piece of paper in there that shows our logo if you wanna add it too.”

He pauses for a moment, and cocks his head, looking at Katie. “Hey, thanks for coming along with us today. It was a lot of fun. You have a good night, alright?” He winks at her. “And we’ll be back…hopefully we’ll hear from Jason tomorrow, so we’ll be around.” He lingers a second or two longer, and finally turns around to amble back out into the hall, greeting the nurse loudly, with a bow before sprinting down the hall back to the elevator, making screeching noises as he brakes before the doors.

The single red rose rests on Katie’s table.

Cindy returns Wes’ kiss with all the love and joy that’s trying to bubble over. She holds Wes tight, tears once again filling her eyes. “I’d love to live here…and I’d love to get married soon. You’re the most wonderful man in the world, and I couldn’t be happier.” She pulls back just a little to lay a soft hand against his face. “I will follow you no matter what…no matter what happens with the Agency, no matter if you build here, or decide it’s best to move. As long as I’m with you, I have all I need.”

Reese looks up wearily from his paperwork, hearing the knock on the door. He hadn’t realized anyone was still around. “Yes, come in!”

Build a House

*Katie smiles at her hair dances around her face and the nice summer breeze enters her noise once again.*

"I'm tired of being at that hospetl so i dont even want to go back, But I know I will have to and its gonna be ok. I know sooner of later I can go home. Untill than I will make the best of my stay there. Even if that means driving that poor nurse crazy."

*Katies eyes twinkle as the suns and its colors reflect off them. This was the start of a new life, a better life, and she had friend to start out with it. Katies heart sang a song of Joy. Looking at Kyle Katie grins.*

"Thank you Kyle for inviting me here. Its what I needed, and I am honnered I could shair it with you, and the others. It means alot of me."

*Kaite squints her one eyes as the last bit of sun hits them. Smiling even bigger Katie lets out a sigh.* "Someday we will come here again, Jen and I will both be walking, and we can all feel the sand in out toes, and the water on our legs. It will be wonderful."

*Katie smiles at the though truly knowing in her mind one day it would happen. Her and Jen would walk arm and arm down the beach as the boy played ahead with eachother teasing. Kyle would say something silly like always. Jen and herself would yell at him for it but laugh afterwords. The fun times would never end...One chapter in Katies life closed, and now another was starting, a new chapter, a better chapter.*

"Ok...I think I am ready to go now."

*Katie turns her chair around ready to head back to the group with Kyle. Only for a moment looking up at his smiling face again. She was ready to let go of the old and let the new in. The walls were down and she was ready to feel again.*

*Wes sighs and leans back in his chair. Looking up at the sky he smiles. It did look lovly tonight, but not as lovely as Cindy's smiling face. Wes lets Cindy's question about the Agency sink in, and is silent for a long while. No one new when everything would be over, or when it would ever be safe again. Cindy was right. It would be a shame to miss out on a peace of there life.*

"Honestly I dont know when everything with the Agency will be over if ever. I dont want to put you in danger, but just having you here and involved with us has already done that. I don't want the fear of the Agency to hinder us from being happy though Cindy. So, if it was ok with you, and you dont think its to soon. I'd like to get marryed in a month or so. I mean this is your choise to, but I know for me everyone I would want at the wedding is already here everyone but Katie anyways. and we could get her here. Maybe just a small wedding here by the lake. And...I know its not much but for alittle while we would have to live in one of the bunk houses, but if you wanted to move get away we could. But I was thinking if it was ok with you...."

*Wes' heart races. It feels like he is asking Cindy to marry him all over again. The excitment building his face glowing. It was perfect, this night, dinner, Cindy. Nothing could take away Wes happyness.*

"...I could build us a house."

*Wes beams.*

"Where we are siting right now, we are quite a bit away from the ranch but still close enough to get there for work, or what not. But where we are siting...this is my land. When I told Rosetta I was going to stay and help her, she wasent using this for anything so she gave it to me knowing I'd make something out of it. I would makeme very happy to build you a house to start our family in, but if you dont want that I dont mind. I want you to be happy and have what you want."

*Wes goes over to Cindy not being able to help himself her picks her up and gives her a big hug with a soft, tender lingering kiss.*

*As Jamie shuts off her computer she wonders if Reese is still in his office. She needed to talk to him and dident want to wait till alot of people were around. After clearing up her desk and makes her way to his office. Her sneeking squeeking on the floor. She was one of the last people in TJY everything eccoed. Gently she knocks on Reese door.*

Future?

It’s not long before the three friends break up at the waterfront. They turn and head back to their claimed spot on the beach.

Kyle grabs his shirt that’s now dry, and pulls it over his head, glancing around for Katie. “Hey, did we lose our new friend?”

Jen chuckles and shakes her head. “No, she went over there.” She points.

Kyle follows her aim and sees Katie a ways away. “She okay?”

“I think so.”

“Should I go get her?”

“I will,” Phil volunteers.

Kyle looks at him quickly, a little surprised.

Phil gives him a silly grin. “I’m kidding. I know you want to. Go on.”

Kyle smirks and heads in Katie’s direction, ignoring his brother’s teasing. He takes his time, enjoying the sand on his bare feet, and slowly comes up behind Katie, sidling in beside her to lean his forearms on the fence. He lets his gaze fall upon the water’s brilliant sunset colors. “Pretty, isn’t it? This is one of my favorite spots…when I just need to get away and think.” He takes a deep breath of the air, his spirit calmed by the recent encounter with his Maker, while fellowshipping with his brother and friend. “We’re all ready to go,” he mentions, still holding his stare on the lake. “But we’ll stay as long as you need to.

A shiver runs down Cindy’s spine as Wes runs his hand along her face. She looks deep into his eyes, feeling herself getting lost in their stare. Finally she sighs, relenting to dinner. “Okay…if you insist.” She grins and turns away to go sit back down at the table.

Supper is delightful. Cindy has always had so much fun with Wes, but each time they do something special, she has even more fun. It’s like a never-ending fairytale.

When finished, she leans back in her chair and stares up at the pink sky. It was so pretty. “Wes…” Her voice is soft and low. “Do you think this whole thing with the Agency will ever be over? I mean…you and me, and Mick, Rosetta, Luke and Angel…we’re all waiting to move on with our lives, based on the hope that this case will be over soon.” She finally lowers her gazes to Wes’ face. “I…I would hate to miss out on a portion of our future when we’re not even sure when it will begin…”

“Hey you.”

Jason looks up from the corner of the table to see Jade with her plate, looking for a place to sit. “Hey.”

Jade smiles. “May I join you?”

“Sure.” Jason had chosen a seat away from the others at suppertime, though didn’t mind Jade’s company. He straightens in his chair, nodding to the empty seat diagonal from him. “Have at it.”

“Thanks.” Jade settles down. “So…” she takes a bite of her roast beef. “How long you sticking around for?”

“A few more hours.”

A slight bit of disappointment shows in Jade’s eyes. “Oh?”

“Yeah.” Jason takes a sip of his drink and wipes his mouth with a napkin. “I got obligations back in Nevada.”

“Does the obligation have a name?”

Jason gives Jade an amused sidelong glance. “Maybe.”

Jade grins. “You happy there?”

“I think so.” Jason shrugs. “It’s different…so much has changed. I’m still not settled. But…I think I will be.”

“I know you will.” Jade reaches over to give his arm a gentle pat. “Just don’t give up, huh?”

Jason forces a short laugh. “Is it that obvious that I was ready to?”

Jade gives him a smile. “Just a little. I don’t know all that happened, but whatever it was…I know you’re smart enough and strong enough to get through it.”

“I hope so.”

“So…are you flying back in the morning?”

Jason shakes his head. “Clint and I are heading into town right after supper to do some shopping, and if all goes well, I’ll be getting a set of wheels to take myself back bright and early. That’ll get me back there by evening tomorrow if I make good time.”

A new start

*As Katie watched the guys and listens to Jen, her heart is heavy yet feels like there is a new hope. Those three had been though so much yet you would never be able to tell. What was held in there hearts dident hold them back, or bring them down. There, sadness and fear dident make them prisnors. Katie dident understand how they did it, but it gave her hope that she to could find this peace. That her past that haunted her for so long and even the problems of the present would soon subside, and not rules her eather. A small tear rolls down Katie's cheek, but she dident feel sad, and she dident feel lonly. She felt that she belonged. That after everything is said and done she ended up right where she should be. If it hadent been for accident Jason never would of been introduced to Jetstream, and Katie never would of goten to know them eather. Turning Katie smiles at Jen.*

" I hope its the biginning of spending more time together too. Thanks Jen."

*Katie shifts her weaght for a moment and used her arm strength to pull herself back up into her wheelchair. Not saying anything Katie looks at the guys again and starts to push herself away from them over to a fence where it over looked the water and the sky was starting to turn differnt shades of pink and red as the sun set. Leaning on the fence the wind blows through Katie's hair tossing it this way and that. She wanted to be free to. To leave her pain behind and be able to talk about it with her friends without feeling scaired, or ashamed. Keeping her eyes closed she whispers.*

"God, I know the peace I have found in my friends came from you. In church today the paster said you love evenyone no matter the bad stuff they did. That means no matter what I did in the past you love me too. Thank you for loving me..."

*Katie voice quivers alittle bit, and a few tears escape her eyes. Was she happy, sad, scaired, she dident know. She only felt all her emotions inside her at once. Some pleading for her to stop, and some pushing her on.*

"...Thank you for sending your Son to die for the sins I commited. No I want to addmit myself for all of them and ask you to wash them away. Please break this hold they have on me and let me start over. Please fill me and make me a new person. Help my find my peace to. Amen."

*As Katie finishs her praying she opens her eyes. Infront of her a flock of amazing colored bird sore into the sky. Katies mouth opens slightly in amazment she has never seen something so wonderful in her life the colors, everything seemed so much brighter. As a few more tears fall a strong wind once again blows sending Katie's hair about. Gently on her shoulder it feels like someone rests there hand. Smiling Katie nods and whispers.*

"Thank you!"

*As Wes receves Cindy's hug and kiss he smiles ever go big. He was happy that Cindy was happy. Wes wraps his arms around her just holding her close for a long while not wanting to let go.*

"I love you too Cindy. I promise I am not going anywhere, I'd be a fool if I did."

*Wes gently pulls Cindy away to look at her face as he smiles. Ever so gently he runs his hand along Cindy's face maping every curve.*

" We better start eating out dinner before it gets colder than it already is."

Deeper

Kyle just grins at Katie's comment about her cheeks, showing no embarrassment at all for what he'd said.

The three guys laugh at her crack about being an FBI agent, though Kyle's eyes widen. "I knew it! The FBI really does have a plot to take over the world!"

Phil and Mike flop down in the sand near the others, the sun shining warm and the breeze combing their hair. They and Kyle exchange a brief glance before actually answering Katie, creating a momentary pause that is strange. But it's quickly gone as Phil smiles. "Unfortunately, you know how we act before getting to know us. That's one count against us."

Mike chuckles. "Though it's fortunate that you don't scare easily."

"Alright, alright." Phil tries to stay on track. "Since I'm the only one with sense around here, I'll start." He receives a blast of sand down the front of his shirt, flung from Kyle's hand. "What did I tell ya?" He grins at Katie. "I am the only one who acts his age."

Kyle's jaw drops. "I didn't know you were only three."

"Watch it, or I'm gonna sick that seaweed back on you."

"Oh, don't worry, he's still there." Kyle reaches down to scratch his leg. "Next time, I'm bringing a change of clothes."

"That would be wise," Mike quips, "especially since we'll be making you ride in the back if you're still wet."

"What?!"

Phil sighs in mock annoyance. "My name is Phil...and I'm surrounded by idiots."

Jen looks over at Katie with a giggle. "How they function so well on stage, I'll never know."

Phil finally breaks through the banter in order to satisfy curiosity. "Okay, well...I lead a boring life apart from JetStream. I live in town, I work at the lumberyard...I like music obviously, I like to fish, I play he bass in my church's worship team, I'm twenty-five... um..." He shrugs. "I like good food, good company and having good clean fun."

Kyle shoots up into a sitting position, raising his hand. "Oh, oh, I'm next!"

"Yes, Kyle, you can go next," Phil agrees in a tone as if he were talking to a child. "You did very well at waiting your turn."

Kyle swings his head back around to Katie with a silly grin. "I'm Kyle, and I'm surrounded by those with bigger heads than me." He receives a kick to the shins. "And those who also know how to kick...hard." He grimaces. "Well, I'm twenty-three, single and looking-"

"For trouble," Mike intervenes.

Kyle doesn't miss a beat. "Always. I room with Phil, which is an adventure in itself, I work down at The Pizza Box in town so I can pay my brother rent. I like a good sci-fi movie, I love fun company, I write music, my favorite color is green and....I hate seaweed!" He leans down, trying to reach up his pantleg from the bottom in an attempt to clear out the wet weed.

Mike rolls his eyes. "Ever thought maybe you attract the stuff?" He laughs and shakes his head, turning his attention to Katie. "I live outside town, and it's where the band usually gathers for practicing and hanging out. Um...I'm a manager at a music store downtown...I play drums in my church with Phil, and Kyle forgot to mention that he fills in with vocals and keyboard there too..." He pauses, thinking. "I'm the old-timer of this bunch at twenty-six...I have a golden retriever named Skipper...my favorite kind of icecream is plain vanilla and..." He shrugs. "I guess I lead a boring life, too."

"And I'm hungry." Kyle finishes.

Jen laughs. "Mike's the one who brought the snacks."

"I did indeed." Mike pulls over the grocery sacks that he'd brought in his insulated bag. "I've got either pop or water to drink, I've got some potato chips...pretzels...and for those health nuts, I've got a few veggies with dip."

Phil gives him a teasing pat on the shoulder. "You take such good care of us, Mikey."

Food is eaten, jokes are exchanged, and banter continues, with brief moments of halfway-serious conversations. Before they know it, the afternoon is getting late, and the sun has made its way far across the sky.

There's a bit of a pause in the chatter, and suddenly there's a strange quietness to the air, as if the gaiety has been sucked out of the atmosphere, though peace still remains. Without warning, Phil jumps up and stretches. "Well, since we'll be heading out here soon, guys, I'm gonna take one last look at that water."

As if on cue, Kyle and Mike rise as well without saying anything, brushing off the sand and following Phil a ways down the beach to the water's edge, their backs to Jen and Katie.

Jen grows a little somber as she watches them, and she finally turns to Katie. "You don't realize it, Katie, but you've given these guys quite a gift by allowing them to bring you here today."

She pauses, just looking at her two brothers and Mike as they simply stand. It doesn't appear that any words are being said as they look out on the water. Jen gives Katie a little smile. "The laughter and fun you see in them is their outlook on life, driven to the surface by so much more than they say."

She purses her lips in thought, making the decision to share. "You see...right around this time of year is an anniversary for all three of them. For Mike, it's been four years since he lost a wife and baby girl...he was gone one night and someone broke into their house." Tears glisten in Jen's eyes. "For Phil, it's been six years since he tried to take his own life after his best friend turned on him. For Kyle, it's been seven years since he saw our dad drown in a storm on their fishing trip in Canada." Jen forces a smile as a tear runs down her cheek. "If it weren't for the grace of God, I don't think any of them would be here today...and they know it. Since working through those trials, they've become so sensitive to others in pain...because they know what it feels like...and I've never met any guys with more compassion than these three right here." She nods towards the men. "JetStream started as an outlet for them while getting back on their feet. It's still an outlet, giving them something fun to do and they just love every part of it...though now they love it even more because they found out that they can bring enjoyment to others with their music, humor and energy on stage. And their little 'sunshine project' fund gives them the opportunity offstage to just do little things when they can, to make someone else feel good."

She stops for a moment, and studies them. Their backs still to the women, they move close to each other and put their arms around each other's shoulders with Mike in the middle, forming a picture worth so much more than a thousand words. Jen knew they were praying.

"You've let them bring a smile to your face and you've let them make you laugh," Jen comments quietly to Katie. "You've given them the distraction they needed to focus on someone else so they don't think so much of the past. You've allowed them to ease someone else's pain, if only for a moment." A smile forms. "Thank you, Katie...you've made their day, and I truly hope that this is just the beginning of all of us spending more time together."

Cindy's eyes widen as she and Wes approach the little scene. "Oh, Wes..." She can't remove the smile from her face as he sets her down at the table. "Of course I'm not disappointed...this is so nice..."

She just stares after him as he goes to tie up the horse, feeling as though she's the luckiest woman in the world. The butterflies in her stomach make her feel like a little girl again, so happy and so in love. She couldn't have asked for anything more than God had given her. She had her prince charming she'd always dreamed of...and he was so much more.

As Wes returns to the table, she stands up and throws her arms around his neck, giving him a long, tender kiss, then just rests her head on his shoulder as tears fill her eyes. "I love you, Wes," she whispers. "Don't ever leave..."

Jason eases down in the chair at the desk in the cabin. He'd had a rough afternoon trying to get his energy back, and had given Clint a few more pointers, but hadn't tried anything more than that. Now everyone was gathering for supper, and he knew he should join them whether he wanted to or not.

He'd thought a lot about his conversations with both Austin and Clint. He wanted to stay here and put his foot down about his decisions, just because he didn't want to feel any more stupid...but they made too much sense. Austin had been right on every count...and so had Clint.

Jason knew that right now, in his mind, despite any emotional feelings that drove him down other paths...right now, he and Katie were simply supposed to be friends. He could not afford to risk giving away any more of himself right now when there was so much else going on...if he did, he would fail and end up losing everything. It was better for him to love Katie as a close and dear friend, than try to push anything else. He would have to deal with Wyatt...and if Wyatt and Katie thought that he was too involved, or around too often, he would back off...but he would not back away completely unless it was Katie who asked. Wyatt might have been jealous...but Jason was still Katie's friend, and he couldn't leave for good. He would be more careful...he would be more sensitive to the situations and circumstances so that he did not cross any tempting lines.

In all reality, it had not bothered Jason so much to have Katie dating Wyatt...it had felt a little strange, but he had been okay with that... and knowing that feeling brought to mind the reality that he really was okay with just being her friend. They were close, no doubt. They had a bond, no doubt. It was unavoidable. But at this point in time, Jason would be happy with what they shared, no matter if she was dating someone else or not. Even if she was not with Wyatt, Jason was confident that he would be making the same decision. It just wasn't time. If the future changed their relationship, so be it. If not, then he was still happy.

Jason sighs and flips on the computer. He would need to talk with Wyatt...he would need to apologize for perhaps making some stupid decisions, even if he'd done nothing wrong. He could only hope that Wyatt understood and would not continue to push him away. He hoped that Wyatt understood, as he did, that fighting just made things harder on Katie, and if she was the center, and the point of all this, then they needed to work out their differences away from her, not through her.

Jason's quirks an eyebrow as he sees he has an email...from Katie. Had she written to chew him out? He's almost afraid to read, but he clicks it open. Beginning to scan the words, he starts to relax a little bit.

Guilt comes back as he reads she was having a hard time being alone. He'd been with her almost constantly since she'd been in the hospital, and really had left her high and dry when he'd taken off, no matter if he'd felt he needed to or not.

He reads on.

JetStream? That was interesting...they'd been looking for him? He knew he was suppose to call them Monday... He sighs again. So much else had been going on, that he hadn't wanted to think about JetStream, but he had to make a decision. He'd loved the time spent with the band...he'd loved being on stage...he'd loved connecting with the crowd...he'd loved being able to sing for a purpose. He wanted to join them...it was fun, it was a great group of guys...after just one hour with them, he'd felt as if he'd known them for years. They were so open and honest...

Jason shakes his head. He just didn't know what to do. There were so many unknowns...so many things that could go wrong. So many variables. It would take more than a simple "yes" to settle things. It would take a heart-to-heart conversation...one of which he would need approval for first.

Pausing his reading, he grabs his phone and dials. "Yeah, hey, Susanne. Yes, I know, I know...no, don't transfer me to Reese. Not right now. Actually, don't even tell him I called.... no, honest. But there's something I want you to do. Either you, or Laura.... I want you to run a background check on Phil and Kyle Mitts, and on Mike Kelly. ...Yeah, they're local. Hmm? Yeah, just do that, and save the results for me when I get back... yes, I'll be back. Thanks, Susanne, you're a gem."

Ending the call, Jason takes a deep breath. It had started.

He turns his eyes back to his computer and a smile slowly forms. He wasn't surprised that the guys had taken so quickly to Katie. They were just those kinds of people, and no one could help but enjoy Katie's company too. He hoped she had gone with them on an outing today... she could use the time away from the hospital, and though knowing JetStream only a short time, he was one hundred percent confident that they would take care of her. And in a way...Jason felt just a little bit of warmth, thinking about sharing this new adventure with Katie. If there was anyone he'd want to share it with, it would be her.

As he reaches the end of the email, his eyes widen. Katie and Wyatt had broken up? A wave of guilt hits him before Katie's words reassure him that it wasn't his fault. But...what had happened? It sounded like it had been Wyatt's move...that was interesting. If it had been Wyatt's decision, it couldn't have been Jason's fault, right? Wyatt had been pretty strong in his feelings for Katie in order to make him so upset with Jason...so what had really happened?

Jason tries to understand...Katie said it wasn't his fault...it didn't appear to be...but in a roundabout way, was it really? He almost wonders if Katie had reacted to him leaving in such a way to make Wyatt reconsider her feelings for him. He'd obviously been aiming for a deeper relationship with Katie...but if she had reacted to Jason's absence as severely as Con had indicated, perhaps the truth of the matter had come to light.

In a way, Jason was sad for them...he wanted Katie to be happy...and despite these conflicts, Wyatt was still his friend. It couldn't have been an easy decision. Goodness knows any decision to part with someone like Katie wasn't easy.

Jason closes out his email, and thinks for a long moment. He had a lot of pride to swallow. He still needed to apologize to Wyatt, whether or not the breakup was his fault or not. And he needed to apologize to Katie. Maybe he really had needed this time away, but he could have done it differently.

He picks up his phone again and involves himself in a conversation with the shop in Nevada. "Yeah...just a single red rose to Katie Pent at Franklin Hospital, Room 305. ....sure, have it delivered tonight, and have the note say, "Friendship is what binds us. See you tomorrow." Yeah, thanks."

True Love Is

*Once again Katie's face turns hot as the color changes to red. Kyle sure was a smooth talked. She had never met someone like him before. He was so open and carefree. He dident care what people though about the way he acted. Katie could tell he was a guy who liked to have fun and show it. Katie smiles softly at Kyle as she sits up.*

"You know, if you keep paying me so many complament I think my cheeks are gonna fall off from how red they keep geting."

*Katie breaths deep. It smelled alot cleaner here to her. The water, flowers, the smell of the cut grass. Katie never bother stoping to pay attachen to that kind of stuff before but now, it all seemed to mean alittle bit more. Maybe since her accident lossing the loss of her legs help her gain so much more. The time to actully stop and apresheate the little things in life.*

"Well...since we are all siting here, and seem comfortable enough with eachother. I'd like to know more about each of you. I mean, I know your names, and I know how you act and what not...but I'd like to know more to help me know you guys better."

*For a moment Katie makes a scruntched face as she almost confusies herself.* "If what I just said made any sence to you guys what so ever." *Katie shoots a look at Kyle laughter dancing in her eyes.*

"Unless you really are worryed I am an FBI agent and I am collecting this info for my plot."

*Katie smiles, and for a bref moment her mind goes back to Jason and wondering how he is. How Katie wished he could be there now shairing this moment. Now Katie understood the look in Jason's eyes after the consert, he's been happy to shair a moment with this small group of people. He had found his happyness of where he belonged. Katie new, no matter how much her mind told her Jason wouldent be back. He would be. He couldent stay away for long. If he dident come back for her, he would come back to Jetstream. They were in his blood now and there was no turning back for eather of them.*

*Wes wraps his one arm around Cindy as she gets settled into the saddle with him. Giving a gentil kiss to the top of her head Wes smiles.* "Off and away we go." *Taking the rains in the other hand Wes clicks alittle and Savior starts to move forword. Wes keeps him at a gentl walk not wanting to rush or rune this moment he had with Cindy. Wes takes one of the paths behind the horse barn. It was the best one he could think of to take. Flowers lined both sides of the path. There were many trees and bushes that as well had flowers growing up them. Wes could think of nothing better right now than to be with Cindy, the smell of the flowers his arm wraped around her and the should of his horses hoofs on the path was all he needed.

After riding for about an hour they come out at the far end of pond. As they draw closer to the waters edgh there is a small table with flowers and candles on it. Two little chair set up next to it as well. A small white canves also cover the chairs and table to shelter from the bugs. Jumping off Savior's back Wes comes around to the front to help Cindy off as well. A smile on his face and his eyes dancing with delight.*

"Well look at that, it looks like everything is set up thats strange."

*Wes cant help but let his smile grow even bigger. Gently scoops Cindy up and walks over with her to the table seting her down in one of the chairs.*

"Let me go tie Savior to that tree over there and grab the food. I'll be right back my love."

*Wes throws Cindy a wink as he leads Savior over to a tree and ties him up. Taking the back off his back Wes makes his way back to Cindy.*

"Lets see what we have in here now. We have, Chips, Subs, some Soda, and Jello. I know this looks romantic and all but I still wanted it to be a picnic so I hope your not disapointed."

*Wes takes the food and drinks out of his bag and sets it all on the table. Wes heart gives a jump as it relizes this will be one of many to come picnic's with Cindy. That though alot was enough to make Wes smile bigger than ever. How happy he was, and how lucky he was that God sent him an Angel to love for the rest of there lifes. The feeling that grew inside of him could not be explained, or discribed, but simply put, this was true love. A feeling that had no words. Yet you new what was being said. Wes new...

True love was/is:

Cindy and himself...unexspected, but thanful and happy, ready to start there lifes together.

Angel and Luke...Determened, Always there for eachother and never gave up hope, trusting and honest, willing to help, going the extra mile.

Rosetta and Mick...Neverending, Never losing hope and always trusting, never doubt, stanging by eachother no matter what.

Yes this is what was ment to be.*

Cool off

Kyle continues to stare at the sky, though a sly smile forms. “What? If I said I was running from the FBI, would you suddenly show me your badge?”
He laughs at her plain cloud. “Amazing… funny how a bunch of dust and water can make something so…fluffy looking.”

“Oh, that was deep,” Mike teases.

Kyle rolls his eyes and points. “Ah, and there’s my dream boat…ooh, and over there is that fat little guy who runs the newspaper stand downtown!”

Mike actually has to roll back to look at that one, and starts to laugh. “Hey, you’re right!”

Kyle grins and turns his head to look at Katie. He can sense her peace of mind…it was different than yesterday. Propping himself up on his elbow again, he studies her face. “Well I’ll be…and here’s a beautiful young lady sitting right beside me.”

Phil quirks an eyebrow and exchanges a glance with Mike, who gives a little nod, his eyes twinkling. Phil gets up, and grabs Kyle’s still-wet shirt. Coming up behind his brother, he holds the shirt over Kyle and wrings it out.

Kyle doesn’t move as the water is deposited onto his head, though his eyes narrow with amused annoyance. “Thanks, Phil. I really needed that after I’d just started to dry off.”

Bunny?

*Katie can feel her face turn a red color at Kyle's comment. He sure did know how to make a girl feel good. What a charmer.* "What on earth Kyle." *Katie lays on her back next to Kyle and looks up at the sky turning her head alittle bit.* "It looks like a Bunny to me. Or maybe a silly guy with seaweed up his pant leg." *Katie giggles alittle. and than turns her head to look at Kyle.* "So whats with you and FBI agents anyways. Are you running from them or something?" *Katie smiles. Point up at the sky again Katie says.* "Hey look over there, it looks like...a cloud. Go figure." *Katie makes a funny face and laughs. The moment with her new friends was perfect. Though much still raged on inside Katie she felt at peace. She had never had this much fun in her life. Let alone hit it off with a group of people that fast. And to think when they first showed up they were looking for Jason and now...now she had made 4 new friends. Maybe life was looking up again after all.*

Cloud

Jen smiles at Katie’s comments but doesn’t say much, only enjoying the moment.

Kyle laughs and stretches out on his side, propping himself up on an elbow to face Katie. “There comes a point in time in every man’s life when he must choose between bearing with seaweed or going pantless, and I dare say the aforementioned is the route I will take, lest I embarrass myself further in front of you ladies.”

“Oh, Kyle.” Jen grimaces.

“What’s he doing? Scaring away the company?” Phil plops down in the sand.

“Just about.”

Mike walks by and slaps Kyle upside the head. “Quit it or Katie will never want to come back.”

“Well that wouldn’t be good.” Kyle winks at Katie. “We wouldn’t want that to happen, now would we? Especially now that’s she’s free?”

All three voices come at him at once. “Kyle!”

Kyle laughs and rolls over to lay on his back. “Hey!” He points up at the sky. “That cloud looks like an FBI agent!”

Cindy smiles from ear to ear as she takes Wes’ hand and gets herself up onto Savior’s back. “You sure do know how to make a girl feel special, ya know that?” She leans back so she can feel Wes behind her and settles in for the ride.
