hug OR kiss

* Entering TJY Jess walks slowly across the floor that was filled with people working. Not looking up to meet anyones eyes Jess makes her way to the small room closing the door behind her. Sinking down on the bed Jess lets her head rest in the pillow and closes her eyes. This had been her quiet place, her safe heaven. But is was begining to make her more depressed, siting not doing anything, sleeping. Jess didnt really want to do much but she didn't want to sit and do nothing eather. Maybe she would go see Carson again later, or maybe find a new bar to go to. Something anything to keep her mind busy.*

*Misty can't help but laugh as she watches Kyle leave shaking her head and calling after him.*

"I'll try to be ready. I don't know though I didn't get a hug OR a kiss goodbye."

*Misty folds her arms across her chest as she stands inside waiting for Kyle to return.*

*Returning home Charlotte takes the note from the door as a smile spreads across her face. Yes after work she would go and see Bret. If he was wallowing that would mean he would probley need company again tonight and Charlotte new maybe the bar and some pool was in order.

Heading up the steps Carlotte gets ready for work and heads out taking the small bag with the gift for Bret with her. Tonight she would give it to him.*

~*~ Later in the day ~*~

*Katie looks at Scott from across the table and smiles at Scott before qurking a question eyebrow.*

"Hun, you have been here a million times and you still need to read the menu?"

*Katie can't help but giggle a little as she looks down at her menu and than back at Scott. She couldn't help the feeling of something being wrong but surly if there was Scott would of said something by now.*

"Mmmm....I think my desition is easy I want the chicken-al-king tonight."

*Katie reaches across the table and locks her fingers with Scott's the smile still on her face.*

"What are you in the mood for than go from there."

*Finally exiting her apartment Misty makes her way to Kyle's truck. Dressed nice in a black tank top and jeans Misty slips into the truck smileing.*

"Sorry I am running a bit late, was trying to get my hair just right."

*Misty's hair was done up on her head with a clip and ringlets hung down and around her face giving it shape.*

"So I was thinking maybe we could go to that little place down by the water front. Its not to cold out tonight and this might be one of the last times to go this season."

*Exiting TJY Jess makes her way once again back to Mom and Pop's but this time she takes a differnt rout. Staying in the shadows Jess just wanted differnt scenery, but in the end resalt she would be at Mom and Pop's to see Carson.*

Supper

Carson gives a nod to Jess and watches her until she's gone. Giving a little sigh, h tries to focus on work, quickly becoming busy with food orders.

It's not until later in the day when Carson has enough time for a break, slipping back to the room that he was still calling home. Sinking down on the small bed, he takes his ballcap off and leans back against the wall. His mind had been trying to wander all day and he hadn't let it. Now that he was alone, it refused his attempts, finally going where it willed, whether he liked it or not.

Australia... the Agency... Ashlyn... mistakes... murders... TJY... more mistakes... Misty... mistake after mistake after mistake... cases... Misty... Ashlyn... TJY... Dani... Misty... Misty... the Bullseye... Velvet... Vegas... Misty... mistakes...

Carson closes his eyes and sighs deeply. No matter where he was or what he did, he always managed to screw things up. Could be his own life, could be someone else's, but he'd find a way to ruin it somehow by his stupid actions. If only he had something to keep him out of trouble... He was doing well at the moment, with Herb over him. But what about when he could finally get his own place again? What about when he could finally afford another car? Carson feared himself. He knew without someone there, as soon as he had the opportunity, he'd be off on the wrong road again, making the same mistakes over and over and over again. He finally realized his own pattern, and by now, he loathed it.

He glances down, just wishing for once that he wasn't himself...he'd liked himself before, but that's what got him into trouble half the time was believing he was big stuff. And maybe he had been...but he'd used it when he shouldn't have. He wanted his own confidence back...he wanted his own self worth back...but for some reason, it continued to evade him.

Strumming his fingers on the bed, he looks down at his arm. Some things did last a lifetime... and he'd screwed up enough this time that a reminder to last him his life might not be a bad thing. It was almost a form of self-punishment because he knew that though it would become less, the pain would always be there. But if it was pain in the heart that kept his head on straight, then perhaps it was worth it. ...he knew a guy in town that owed him.

Kyle pulls Misty around in a dance maneuver, twirling her, then bringing her back into his arms. "Good." He plants a quick kiss on her forehead. "Then I'll swing by your place at seven o'clock. And be thinking because you get to pick where we go."

His cell phone goes off and he rolls his eyes. "That'll be Mike. We're supposed to get together with Cryptic. I'll see you later."

Letting Misty go, Kyle slides toward the door, bouncing off the doorframe into the hall where he disappears.

Taped to Charlotte's door at home is a handwritten note:

The future is all but chance waiting to happen. Sometimes you just can't say no to fate.

Sorry I missed your call. Sleeping off the aftereffects of a good wallow - wasn't as much fun drinking alone though. Miss you. Call me after work?

-Bret

Like all days where anticipation of a fun evening is present, it goes slowly. The minutes turn into hours, slowly, slowly, the hands on the clock never speeding up. But finally, right on time, it's here - evening has come.

The bell at Mom and Pop's rings as Scott opens it, holding it for Katie. There are a few people already here tonight, but it's relatively quiet. Scott points to a booth back in the corner. "That looks like a good spot, he suggests."

Getting settled, he looks around, and spots Carson behind the counter. He gives a nod, acknowledging him at least.

Carson sees them and offers a little smile. Though seeing people from TJY brought on pangs within him that weren't comfortable, there was a part of him that was still glad to see them. He raises his hand for a short wave before turning back to his work.

Scott notices the bandage on Carson's forearm, but doesn't question it. Letting his eyes roam, he finds Aerith and waves at her. Picking up a menu, he scans the options. "Hmm...choices, choices." He glances over to Katie. "What are you going to have?"

Though cool on the top, under the surface, a strange tension was growing. He bounces his leg under the table, though doing his best not to let on that anything was wrong.

Kyle stops his pickup outside Misty's place and looks at his watch. He was early. Deciding to wait, he turns off the engine and settles back in his seat until it got to be closer to seven.

Groupies

*Wondering around the market Charlotte picks up many items and than lays them down again. She was in the mood to but something but everything she looked at did not peek her intrust.

background and some from Coming to another small stand She looks down at many braclets and necklaces from the indanEgypt. Running her fingers over one of them Charlotte puts it up. Its is a black cord strong with a few small dark color beads on it and at the end was an Egyptian coin. On oneside it said Luck and on the other is said Chanse. Giving a smile Charlotte buys to and decieds to give one to Bret. Placing it in her purse she reminded herself if she saw him later to give the small trinket to him.

Looking at her watch and seeing the time Charlotte makes her way back to her car and heads for home seeing as it was time for her to start getting ready for work.*

*Katie smiles at Scott with an understanding nod.*

"Your right it is starting to get very cold out. Mom and Pop's sounds good. I'll be ready and waiting for you to pick me up."

*Leaning down Katie gives Scott a kiss before standing.*

"I guess I better finish my work, six will come fast. See ya later hun."

*Misty looks back to Kyle her eyes sparkling and the smile present on her face that showed on the inside she was laughing.*

"I don't know Kyle, I only date sick guys. I mean now that your all better you'll probley be chasing those groupies you have around and I'll be left in the dust."

*Finally a laugh escapes her lips proving she dident believe what she said and links her arm with Kyles.*

"Dinner, sounds great to me."

*As Jess finishs off her last cup of coffee she lets out a strech and looks around the small restront. Busness was starting to pick up and all the people were making her uncomfortable. She tryed to stay as long as she could but not it was time to retreat back to the darkness. Catching Carson's eye for a moment Jess gives a wave and points to the door giving the hint she was going to be going and would catch Carson later.*

Actually...

Scott reaches up to finger a stray strand of Katie’s hair, his eyes growing thoughtful. “Mm…I was thinking more like Mom and Pop’s… it’s going to be pretty chilly tonight and I’m just not in the mood for being cold.”

He grins. "So it's my treat. Six o'clock?"

Kyle can't keep from smiling, showing how thrilled he was with this news. "Hey, now they won't have a reason to kick me off the band." He pauses in though. "Well...that might not be true, but at least it wouldn't be because I didn't have a voice." He laughs.

Rick nods with enthusiasm. "We might just have something here. I want to figure out now what it was that made this combination work so well... whether it was the antidote and agent together, or just the agent, or both of those and Kyle's own makeup...I'm wondering if it was all three.... my hunch is, that we could take the very same thing and give it to say, Jason, and it wouldn't do a thing for him. But man, if we can just harness this and get to the bottom...." His voice trails off as he turns away, heading for the counter, his mind working overtime.

Kyle grins and slips off the table, taking a deep breath and spinning around to face Misty. "So..." He clears his throat, still not a hundred percent. "Are we doing dinner or what? After as much sleep as I got last night, I should be good for days. Not to mention I'm starving."

Bret sits at the kitchen table, just having got off the phone once again. He fingers a quarter, rotating it in his palm as he thinks...contemplates...weighs his choices. He sighs and looks down at the coin. After a moment, he tosses it in the air, then captures it on the table. Lifting his hand, it shows tails.

Standing up, he grabs his jacket and car keys.

DOMINO

Misty smiles as Kyle bounds into the room. It was good to see him up and about again, Kyle being his normal self again was good.

Standing Misty smiles at Kyle as she goes to Rick and looks over his shoulder.

"Oh wow, that amazing."

Looking back at Kyle Misty gives a nod and than looks back down at the printouts and what not Rick had before looking to Kyle again.

"Hun, you healed almost instintly. I mean you didnt but thats what it looked like. This is so great Kyle."

Turning back to Rick a bit of hope shows in Misty's eyes like something was forming in her mind.

"Rick do you think this could be the start to a new healing agent for others. I mean think of the possabilitys. Kyle, you could be the break through the first step to something grand."

Misty's face lite up as she talks showing how she truly enjoyed her job.

Snuggling down in Scott's lap Katie can't help but let out a small laugh. Leaning her head aganst his for a moment.

"After all the excitment with the band just doing normal paper work is boring."

Katie smiles as she wraps her arms around Scott's neck and pulls away to look at him.

"So how about we go out to dinner with Domino tonight? Maybe a picnic or something."

Sharp

Axel hears his nickname as he slips from the restaurant, a smile on his lips. Taking a deep breath, he puts his hands in his pockets and starts walking, but not towards the hotel.

Running footsteps echo through the TJY hall and a figure races past the infirmary, only to skid to a stop, turn around, then peek through the doorway.

Rick looks up, startled by the sudden movement at the door, then shakes his head in amusement. “Well, if it isn’t Mr. Mitts.”

Kyle grins and finally enters the room, tossing him a wave, then scanning the area for Misty. Seeing her at her desk, he whistles through his teeth and smiles from ear to ear.

Rick quirks an eyebrow. “Someone is feeling good.”

“Thanks to you guys.”

Rick’s eyes widen. Kyle’s voice was raspy, but amazingly better than just a day or so before. “Well you certainly sound good. Have a seat and let me look at you.”

Kyle is quick to hop up on the bed, glancing over his shoulder at Misty. “Hope I didn’t do anything stupid last night…I don’t remember a thing after the concert.”

Rick pauses his work and looks at him with a sudden question.

Kyle’s face reddens. “I was tired.”

“Oh, I see.” Rick hides his grin as he begins examining Kyle’s throat. “Well I’ll be…it’s working… Misty, it really worked… I can’t believe the rapid healing.”

Kyle’s eyes show hope. “That’s a good thing, right?”

“Of course it is. At this rate, your voice should be back to normal in no time.”

“Really?”

“Well, from what I can tell, yes, if it keeps healing at this pace. And…speaking of healing, how’s that hand?”

Kyle holds up his hand that is bandaged and braced. “It was hurting pretty bad yesterday after everything, but this morning the ache is actually gone.”

Rick thinks for a moment. “I’d like to take an x-ray if I may.”

Kyle shrugs. “Whatever. You’re the doctor.”

A short while later, Rick is looking over the x-rays. “Fascinating.” He motions Misty to join him, pointing out the breaks in Kyle’s hand. “Look…that healing agent you added to the antidote. It didn’t just target his vocal chords…it’s helping those fractures too. Amazing. His body’s makeup must be just right to meld with the antidote in order for it to have worked that well. At this rate, that hand should be useable in a couple week’s time. Utterly amazing.”

Jason grins as he keeps walking to his office and shakes his head. Nah. His teeth aren’t too sharp.

Scott reaches up with one hand brushes Katie’s face as a smile spreads on his own. “Ha…exciting?” He rolls his eyes, gesturing to his computer. Nothing but a bunch of analysis reports.”

He takes her hands in his and gives them a kiss, letting them rest against his chest for a few moments until he lifts them over his head, pulling Katie around as he turns, and bringing her into his lap. His arms around her waist, he looks into her eyes, giving her a smile. “I think you broke the pretty meter when God made you.”

Bite

*Jess gives a little shrug as Axel talks about not everyone being the same and not all out to hurt her. What Axel said was nice, and it was something that would be nice to believe but to Jess it was only a fairytale, a story to make her feel better. In Jess world things like people being nice didn't happen. She did have Carson who was nice to her Axel was right about that and it felt good to have a friend but still it was hard to think of the rest of the word as nice when Jess had been slapped in the face so many times. She had one person who was good to her and she was thankful for at least that.

As Axel walks backwards watching Jess she turns her eyes following him as well. Leaning against the counter Jess gives a wave to Axel as finally a small smile slips on her lips. What was it about him?*

"It was nice meeting you to Grease."

*Jess can't help the bigger grin the formed on her lip as she spun herself back around in her chair and finishing off her coffee.*

And so the morning continues to go as those finally make it to work and start there day. While other sit and wait for someone to come join them only to be left sitting alone. For those who like to work as already there and cracking to work hoping to get out early and spend some more time with the young musician who was slowly trying to get his voice back.

*Misty sits at her desk sifting through papers and writing things down. Formulas, equations, graphs, charts, and facts. She had started up her nerve damage research again now that for the time being things were calm. Misty could only hope the more she learned, gained and saw she would be able to come up with a plan. Why she wasn't sure, but maybe just maybe it could help those out there who needed it.*

*As Charlotte finishes off her coffee she lets out a sigh. She had already had her meal and 3 cups and still no Bret. She couldn't help but be a little disapointed but decied not to let it bother her. He was probely busy or just plan tired. She couldn't hold that aganst him.

Standing Charlotte leave the money and tip on the table before heading out and stoping at the store to do a bit of looking around before heading home and getting ready for work. If she didn't hear back from Bret by later tonight she would try giving him another call.*

*As Katie see Jason come in and had to his office she throws him a smile.

He didn't bite to hard did he?

Katie can't help but giggle and finish off what she was typing up on the computer. Finishing she stands and makes her way to Scott's office. Giving a light tap on the door Katie enters and throws a smile at Scott coming around to the back of his chair and drapping her amrs over him resting her head on top of his head.*

"Hey you. What are you working on today? Anything exciting more than what I am working on anyways."

Hidden

A wry grin forms at the mention of Axel’s nickname. “You catch on quick.”

Accepting her hand, he gives it a gentle shake, firm but not harsh, and letting her go quickly, sensing the fear that lay behind her eyes. He cocks his head a little bit, and purses his lips.

“Don’t stereotype, Jess. Not everyone is that selfish to keep the light to themselves. And not everyone is out to hurt you.” He tosses his head toward the kitchen. “Seem to me you’ve already found someone who doesn’t consider you a blotch. Don’t take that for granted.”

He finishes off his coffee and sets his cup back down on the counter, fishing in his pocket for payment. Without saying so, he puts enough change out for Mabel to pay for Jess’ coffee too.

Glancing at his watch, he slides off the stool and sighs. “Well, my dear friends will be annoyed if I don’t return soon, so I’d better do just that.” He hollers to where Mabel is. “Thanks for the coffee!”

Turning to Jess once more, he nods. “Nice meeting you, Jess.” Walking backward for a moment, he heads to the door, then slips out into the morning.

Jason arrives to work, and after checking in with Reese, he heads down the hall to Rick, tapping on the door.

Rick looks up from his work and smiles. "Morning, Hotshot. How are we doing today?"

"Alright." Jason shrugs. "Had an attack last night...did a number on me, but I'm functioning."

Rick's shoulders drop a little. "Bad one?"

Jason sighs. "Yeah."

"Sorry, Jase. Were you alone?"

"Naw...Katie was there."

"Good. How about that knee of yours?"

"That's why I'm here. Figured it was 'bout time for you to check it out again."

"That it is." Rick nods and motions for Jason to come in and sit down. "You been behaving yourself?"

Jason smirks a little. "I been doing just as the doctor ordered, if that's what you mean."

"Wow...turning over a new leaf?"

Jason's eyes narrow at Rick's sarcastic humor. "Very funny."

Rick grins and comes over, getting Jason's brace off and starting to examine his knee. It takes just a little while, and when he's finished, he nods with satisfaction. "It's looking better...even better than I thought it would."

Relief passes through Jason's eyes. "Good."

"You can get rid of the crutch now...I don't want you running or doing anything stupid, but start walking on it more," Rick directs. "When it gets too much - rest and ice. You know the routine. But give it a bit more exercise and see how it goes."

Jason puts his brace back on and nods. "Thanks, Rick."

"How's the pain?"

"Oh...tolerable."

"Wanting a shot?"

Jason shakes his head. "I'll try it without."

Rick pats his shoulder. "Good call."

Jason is finally able to get to his office, and sinks down into his chair. Giving a sigh, he turns on his computer, waiting for everything to boot up. Opening his email, he quirks an eyebrow. Interesting. He replies, quickly receiving another response.

Tell you over lunch.

A bit of confusion, mixed with slight worry and some wry humor is bundled together. Hey, Katie, your boyfriend wants to have lunch with me. Should I be worried?

Bret is dead to the world. He barely hears his phone ring, and decides not to answer it. It was probably Lee anyway, and Bret had no intention of talking with him. Keeping his eyes shut, and his pillow over his head, he ignores the phone completely.

The morning passes slowly, but as the sun makes its way across the sky, time does pass, and soon, the afternoon has arrived to provide the last leg of the race until quitting time.

Jason sits in his truck alone, after returning from lunch. A knot had formed in his gut, and he felt like going home. But he knew he shouldn't. It wasn't anything to be upset about...it was just... He wasn't sure there was a word to describe it. He wasn't going to let the feeling out though...he'd done a good job of keeping the whole luncheon out of his emotional pool, and would emit only enjoyment and contentment. It was easy to do...and it would keep a certain someone from asking too many questions.

Shaking his head, Jason finally gets out of his truck to go inside and finish off the day.

9/11/08

New day

*Katie gives a nod and follows Jason out of his house keeping fairly quiet herself on the way back to her apartment. She was feeling a little bit tired but nothing a nice cold shower would take care of.

Once getting to her apartment Katie turns before getting out of the car and gives a smile to Jason. She had happy he was still thinking of Texas. It would bee a nice mini vacation and it would be great to see everyone again as well.*

"Yeah I'd like that. I think some time away would be nice. Not to mention being able to see that cute little sister you have now."

*Katie smiles as she reaches out and gives Jason's arm a pat.*

"I'll see ya a little bit later at work J."

*Katie leaves the truck and toss a wave to Jason before heading inside to take a shower and get dressed only to leave again for work.*

*Jess stairs forward for a moment as she takes a sip of coffee lost in thought and replying.*

"Grab onto something in the light huh? Not easy to do now-a-days. Not to mention people like me don't deserve the light. We are just blotches on everyones perfect world that they would sooner forget about than bother to help."

*Finally looking down at her hands and the tiny cuts and a few bruses left than lined them she lets out a heavy sigh. Jess wasn't sure if she dident mind the darkness or not. At least if she hide away people wouldn't see the dirt, and the past she hid.

As Axel moves closer Jess gives him a sidelong glance. Little leery for a moment but than turns to him a little more.*

"Axel huh, so now I know why they called you grease."

*Jess can't help but give a small smile at the mention to the annoying nickname but still found humor in it.

Looking down at Axel's hand Jess just stairs for a moment before slowly and causioly almost as if Axel might bite reaches her own out and takes his hand giving it a shake.*

"I'm Jess."

*Charlotte picks up her phone and dials Bret's number. She dident have to work untill the afternoon today and thought maybe breakfest might be nice.

Listing to the phone ring and ring and ring she finally gets the answering service.*

"Bre......tttttttttt.....How can you still be sleeping? It's 9 am you should be awake. Why arnt you awake? Well....I flipped a coin and it said I should go to breakfest and I thought maybe you would want to come...but......since your not answering your phone...I guess I will go alone. Unless you get this and decied to come and join me. You knowww....where I will beeeee. Maybe after words I will stop at the bar for a morning beer.....You better not be wallowing....Byeeeee...."

*Hanging up the phone Charlotte rolls her eyes at herself and shakes her head. Hoping out of bed she heads into the bathroom to get ready and than head out to the restront.*

Eyes

Feeling Katie's finger under his chin, Jason looks up at her, sensing and deciphering what she's thinking. As her finger runs along his face, he closes his eyes for just a moment, gently closing some remnant feelings he did not want to be known.

Alright. We start over.

Jason leans back down to finish lacing his boots and listens to the options. "I didn't know where you car was. If it's at your place then I might as well just drop you off so you'll have a vehicle at work." He didn't want to finish off his statement that showing up at TJY with her might not be the best thing, even if they were innocent. No matter what there was or wasn't between them, they were both in a tough spot. No matter whether they cared what other people thought or not, they were still in a tough spot.

Standing up, Jason limps to the door, grabbing a crutch. "All aboard that's going aboard!" he calls.

Trooper comes bounding down the hall, shaking the floor.

Jason gives as little smirk. "Alright, big guy. You're on for today. Come on." He opens the door so the dog can go out first, then holds it open for Katie too before he locks it shut.

The ride to Katie's is fairly quiet... Jason keeps his mind as blank as possible, trying both to relax and not invade Katie's space either. He'd done quite enough of that already.

Pulling up to the curb, Jason puts the truck in park, but keeps it running. "Guess I'll see you later at work. Thanks... for everything, and..." He pauses, not knowing if plans had now changed or not, but was determined to forget about yesterday and any of its implications. He might have let it slip that feelings still existed for Katie...but for now...right now...he would revert back to the way things were in the hopes that awkwardness simply wouldn't exist. "We'll have to talk about going to Texas soon. If, um...if you want anyone else to go along, that's great...Ty might want to catch a ride, or Scott might even like to come so he can spend some time with you."

He gives a grin. "Or maybe you just want alone time, and if that's the case, I'll have the pilot tie me out on the wing so you can fly in peace."

Axel's eyes narrow slightly as he reads into Jess' words. The wheels working in his mind are almost visible. "Maybe you ought to find something to hang onto while you're in the light so you don't fall back again."

He takes a sip of his coffee, letting the warm liquid slide slowly down his throat. He glances back to Jess, and slips onto a stool closer to her, extending his hand. "Name's Axel."

Though Carson is working in the kitchen, he keeps one eye to the front counter, a little bit leery about this guy. He'd been with a good bunch last night, but Carson didn't know him from anyone else, and right about now, he wasn't easily trusting of any man around Jess.

Bret rolls over in bed and grabs his buzzing alarm clock, ripping it from the wall and sending it hurling across his bedroom. Burying his head under his pillow, he shuts out the world. Last night had not gone well...it hadn't gone well at all. He didn't remember if he'd had any plans for today or not...he didn't remember if Charlotte was working today or not...all he knew was that it was too early to get up. With the hangover he felt, any time before noon was too early.

Darkness to light

*Katie can feel Jason's emotions change and knows that he is still sorry. She hated when Jason felt bad about something when really he shouldn't anymore. Going over to Jason as her laces his boots Katie brings a finger under his chin and puts pressure to make him look at her in the eyes. Her emotions behind them proving she meant what she was thinking.

Stop thinking about yesterday. Whats done is done and we are both sorry. It's time to move past it and starts towards what the new day. Ok?

Katie gives a smile before removing her finger from Jason's chin and run it along the side of his face for a moment in a friendly manor before answering his question.*

"To my place would be good. Than if you wanna stay and drive me you can. I promise I won't take long, but if you wanna leave after dropping me off that's fine too I can always take my car. One or the other is ok with me."

*Jess is silent for a moment thinking about Axel's question and forming an answer in her mind before speaking.*

"Normally I try to keep my eyes closed as long as I can. Till finally I am forced to wake. This morning, I just couldn't go back to sleep..so I went for a walk and found myself here. So, I guess I get ranked from the darkness into the light, only to fall back to the darkness."

Gentle or roaring

Jason knows he did keep Katie up a little bit last night, but doesn’t bother to point that out. He knew that Katie didn’t mind…her heart was too big.

Eating breakfast, Jason knows it’s been a while since he’s had a good breakfast like this. He usually just grabbed some juice on the way out, and if he happened to be hungry, he might get something from the breakroom. Otherwise, his stomach usually waited until lunchtime for anything like this…. It was a nice change.

Finishing up, Jason heads to take a shower, and is quick about getting ready, knowing that not only is he late, but he’s making Katie late too.

Finally, he emerges from the hallway, his hair still wet, sinking down in the living room chair to pull on his boots to lace them up. “Sorry we’re a bit late this morning,” he apologizes aloud. “Where do I need to take you first? Home? Then work?”

A subtle flux in his emotions signals that he’s still thinking about yesterday, still guilty from their argument…still wondering if they’ve truly moved passed it or not.

Axel returns a smile to Jess and nods. “Mornin’.”

His eyes dancing, he looks at Mabel with a grin. “Nope, I’m good with just the coffee.” Taking a sip, he sighs. “Mm…and it’s an awfully good. Thank you.”

Just sitting and sipping slowly, Axel finally eyes Jess again. “So does the morning ease you gently into the day, or does it come in roaring, disturbing sleep to yank you into daylight?”

Smile

*Jess smiles and gives a wave as she see Carson.*

"I think coffee is what I need this morning. To early for a milkshake yet. Give me some time though I am sure sometime today I will need one."

*Jess gives a small nod to Mable and than to Aerith.*

*Katie smiles as she throws an extra peace of bacon to Trooper and than plates up the food. Placing the two plates on the table one in Jason's spot and one in her own Katie finally sits down.*

"I don't know what your talking about I'm never nice."

*Katie scrunches her noise up and takes a bite of her toast.*

"Nah you were fine last night J. Your not a bother."

*Katie continues to eat keeping the conversation light.*

*Jess looks up holding her coffee and the bell on Mom and Pop's rings. A bit saprised to see Axel alone and than remember he had said last night he would be back. Her eyes following him as he sits down. Relizing she was stairing Jess looks away quick taking a sip of her coffee. As if drawn for some strange reason Jess looks at Axel again giving a little smile as he stairs back to her.*

"Morning."

*Mable gives a nod to Axel and heads to the coffee pot.*

"Now, what kind of restront would this be if I didn't have any coffee first thing in the morning?"

*Bring the cup over to Axel Mable gives him some sugar and milk as well.*

"Did you want anything to eat hun?"

Jason's eyes slowly open as the scent of breakfast hits his nostrils. Moving a little, he feels every muscle in his body. It seemed not one wasn't sore. It always happened after episodes like last night's.

Stretching and yawning, he turns over on his back, and then suddenly wonders why on earth he's smelling breakfast. It takes him a minute to remember that he hadn't been alone last night.

Sitting up a little groggily, Jason rubs his eyes and blinks, looking towards the kitchen. Getting himself up, he limps nearer the sound of sizzling and humming. His stomach growls. After getting sick last night, he was now running on empty.

Leaning in the doorway, he just watches Katie for several minutes, a small grin working on the corner of his mouth. He keeps his thoughts to himself.

Finally, Jason enters, running a hand through his unruly hair, and offering Katie a sleepy smile. "Hero, will you ever stop being so nice?"

Trooper comes trotting into the kitchen, his tail wagging happily from being let out early, then having someone to keep him company more than usual.

Jason looks down at him and shakes his head. "Don't get used to it."

Trooper licks his chops, then goes to the stove where Katie is, sitting down quietly and just staring at her, starting to drool.

Jason rolls his eyes. "If you're trying to attract her, Bud, that definitely won't work." He moves forward and gives Katie's shoulder a pat before sitting down at the table. Looking at the clock, he yawns again. It was later than he would have liked...he had to get Katie home then to work. "Hope I didn't keep you up too much last night."

Carson finishes changing his clothes and takes one last look in the mirror to make sure he was halfway presentable after cleaning up and shaving. How he could live here and still be late for work was beyond him, but it wasn't the first time.

Rolling his eyes at himself, he hurries to go help Herb get things started for the day.

It isn't much longer when he hears the bell on the door and leans back just far enough to see out the kitchen. A small smile surfaces. "Stick around here long enough and you'll be addicted," he calls out, teasing Jess. "Milkshake or coffee?"

"Mmm...." Rocky cradles a fresh cup of coffee in his hand and tries to wake up as he and the others sit around the table in the hotel dining room. "Anybody seen Axel this morning?"

Max shakes his head. "I found a note in the bathroom. Said he walked to Mom and Pop's."

"Walked?" Logan rolls his eyes. "It's clear across town. It'd take him an hour."

Max can't help but agree. "Who in their right mind...all for a cup of coffee? They got good coffee here."

Taylor smirks. "Maybe he just wanted fresh air."

"Yeah, like the time he went for a five hour stroll in LA?" Rocky asks.

Taylor giggles. "We were so worked up, and he was so...not. He said it was good exercise."

Logan shakes his head. "They make taxis for getting around. I wonder if Axel ever noticed that."

Nine o'clock. Axel slowly enters Mom and Pop's, looking up as the bell rings. Under his denim jacket and hoodie, he's a little warm after the brisk walk, but it had been cool enough this morning that he'd wanted the extra layer.

Heading to the counter, his eyes scan the room, taking in the details. A few people were here this morning...though probably most of the regulars had already come and gone.

Reaching a stool, he slides up on one to sit down, and gives a sidelong glance to Jess only a few seats away. He gives a smile and wave to Mabel. "Long time no see. I hope you got coffee brewing this morning."

My Little Angel

*Though Carson's words made her feel good Jess wasn't to sure she really did believe she deserved better. Though she couldn't help but admit it did make her feel good to hear Carson say it to her. Giving another smile as they reach TJY Jess gives a small nod. Behind Carson eyes she could see his pain of loss and new her was doing his best She could only hope he would find him away just like she hoped the same for herself.*

"Parting a such a sweet sarrow eh?!"

*Jess steps up to the door and pushes it open stop and turning back to Carson for a quick moment.*

"I sure hope we do see each other again. It's nice having someone to talk to. Goodnight Carson."

*Slipping inside Jess closes the door behind her and heads down the hall and to what she called her room for the night hoping sleep would come easy but knowing it wouldnt and would be filled with night terrors.*

*Katie can't help the laugh that escaps her lips. No matter what happend or how life wen't Katie new her and Jason would always be closer than anyone new. Pushing her head into Jason's leg a little more Katie cross her arms across her chest and closes her eyes again she was starting to get tired once more.

GoodNight J. See you in the AM.

The smile stay spread across Katie's face as her mind shuts off but not fully and soon sleep once again comes to her.*

Night turns to day as the sun comes up. Casting its color to the sky. Some are awake to see it and some still asleep only to try and find the colors in there mind. Some stay snuggled with friends, while others wake to make new ones. Maybe not even sure why they do, what they are. Even those who had a late night wake early not sure why but something told them to get up. Some stop and enjoy the morning before work taking in the smell the colors and the should. While others watch the new life that unfolded before there eyes. Thanking God for the new day.

*The silent figure moves from the window as a small tear falls from her eye. How she remember the old times and the fun. She's hated it at first because it would scar her every time, but over time she expected it and liked trying to be up in time. As Carson's figure is out of site Misty moves away from the window sinking back down on her bed. Why had she woken up so early? She felt tired still but something had told her to get up and when she did, Carson was outside the window. Some how did she know he was there or was it just a coincidence. Eather way Carson had been there, and Misty had seen him, and a new pain formed in her heart.*

*The sound of bacon sizzles in a pan and the small of bacon lingers through through the air ass a soft hum comes from Kaite's lips as she stands at Jason's stove making Bacon, Eggs and Toast. On the small table behind her two places were set with a glass of OJ for each of them. Katie new Jason needed the sleep so she didn't want to wake him but she new the smell from the food would do the job for her.*

*Rolling out of bed Jess opens her eyes. It was early, and she was awake that was a new one. Though it didn't saprise her after the dreams she had, had that night.

Sitting up and swinging her legs out of bed Jess looks at the clock it was 8 o'clock. Jess didn't want to wake but she new now that she was up it would be impossable to go back to sleep.

Grabbing a towle Jess head to the shower to wash up for the day and maybe figure out something to do so early.

A few minutes pass and Jess steps outside of TJY taking in the crisp and cool air. Pulling the hood from her hoody over her head Jess pulls the strings a little to tighten it and starts on her way. Not sure where she was walking to Jess just let her feel be her guide. It was a nice morning and she might as well make the best of it.

Time pass and Jess finds herself in a famiure area. Outside Mom and Pop's. Being lost in thought Jess didn't even relize she was walking this way but now that she was here she might as well stop and maybe get something warm to drink. Looking down at her watch the time was 8:40, good they had opened 30 min ago. If she was lucky maybe Carson was even working today.*

*A cry rings out through the air as a child calls for there parent. Almost instintly a new daddy wakes and moves from the bed letting his sleeping wife rest. She had been up most of the night already and it was his turn now to comfort the small child as she got some rest.

Moving out of there bed room and down the hall he enters the childs room. Going to the crib he smiles down at his daughter that ment the world to him. With his strong hand yet gentil with this small child he reaches down and picks her up craddling her with great care. Offering her shelter and protection giving the promise to always be there when she cryed. In a deep but soft voice his whispers.*

"Hi little one. You know its morning?"

*Moving twords the homemade rocking chair the father sits down with there child gently rocking watching his little daughter suck her thumb as she looks back up at him with a smile on her face and her big brown eyes showing how much love she had already had for her father.*

"Your so pretty, just like your mom. Mmmm....Baby Kalyee, my little angel. Daddy's little girl."

*Wes could never thank God enough for the two prescuse gifts he had given him. All he had asked for and more. How he was happy beyond belief, and how his heart thumped with joy. Wes continues to talk to Kaylee, telling her little storys as she coos and laughs filled the house with a warmth that was unexplainable.*

Dawn breaks with quesions

For a moment, Carson reverts the conversation back to Jess, having heard something he didn't like. "First off...no one deserves a bloke like Peter so you can forget that excuse. Maybe that's all you knew, but that doesn't mean you didn't deserve better."

He throws Jess a stern glance for emphasis, but lets that subject drop for now.

Quiet for several minutes, Carson knows he wants to answer Jess' question, but wasn't sure how. Finally he just shrugs. "I don't know if she's happy or not. But I hope she is. Like you deserve someone better than Peter, Misty deserves someone better than me...and it looks like she's found someone. So... yeah, I hope she's happy."

Walking up to the TJY building, Carson stops at the door. "I guess this is where we part." He looks at Jess for a moment, knowing that she was still hurting, but at least on the road to recovery. "Goodnight, Jess... I'll be seeing ya."

Jason listens to the silence, Katie's words running through his mind. He gives a little grin. After all we've been through, I don't think anything could creep me out.

Thinking of himself, he's just not sure. I don't know...I just don't know... I think Rick's right... that whatever it is inside me found the one thing that's ever caused terror, so it just latches on to that whenever I get too worked up, or my emotions just reach their limit. As far as working through it all...I don't know that either...I just wish I could relive it all once and get it over with.

Receiving more, he almost rolls his eyes, though isn't seen in the darkness. You have absolutely nothing to thank me for. I owe you my life and I'd give it in a heartbeat if I had to...

He stops, a wry humor forming. And if I didn't know that me being gone would kill you anyway.

Jason's hand moves down to ruffle Katie's hair. Shut down that crazy mind. You're keeping this dead man awake.

The sun can never be stopped from completing its rounds, not the earth from its rotation. No matter the will to hold onto the night, it must pass, and a new day must be born.

Carson leans over and laces up his tennies. He’d had just enough money leftover from his last paycheck to buy a new pair, and he was determined to use them as he’d intended. He’d even checked in with Herb before spending the money…he didn’t need to, but he’d wanted to, just to be in the habit of having someone know what he was doing with his money. Until these daily cravings stopped, he wasn’t going to trust himself.

Standing up, he zips up his hoodie and heads out in his sweats, slapping on his baseball cap as he goes.

The morning is chilly, and he can almost see his breath. The cold air is harsh on his lungs and as he sprints into a jog, he’s reminded just how out of shape he really is.

He doesn’t have a destination in mind. The sun isn’t even up yet, and the atmosphere has a strange grayness to it…almost a fog but not quite.

Carson’s feet pound the sidewalk as he takes one turn and then another. His mind wanders as he runs. It travels where it will, from memories, the past, regrets to frustrations and fears.

Sweat breaks out on his forehead and slides down the sides of his face. His eyes no longer see where he’s heading, but only the pictures in his mind.

After jogging for a while, Carson’s legs and lungs finally give out on him. He’d pushed too hard for the first time out. Stopping, he bends over to brace his hands on his knees, thrown into a coughing fit. If he hadn’t known it before, he knew it good and well now that all of his smoking had done him no good.

Coughing hard, he finally spits and takes several deep breaths, trying to regain control. Able to straighten, he sets his hands on his hips, breathing heavily.

Eventually, he looks around to get his bearings, and he can’t help his surprise. How had he ended up here? Apparently old habits had taken over, and while his mind had been wandering, his feet had found a familiar route.

For a moment, Carson just looks at Misty’s place. There was a part of him that wanted to run up to the window and bang on it like he used to, just to get a rise out of her. He remembered the mornings that she’d run with him, and how for a short time, he had felt less alone. The sun had shined in his life, whether he’d seen it or not.

Suddenly the gray is back upon him, followed up by the bitter taste of reality. Misty’s car was there, but he could not see her.

Finally having caught his breath, Carson turns, sprinting back into a slow jog, back the way he’d come. If he didn’t hustle now, he’d be late for work.

"Hey, Laura."

Laura turns from filling her car with gas to see that Scott has pulled up to the pump behind her. "Mornin' Scott. Surprised to see you up this early after you worked so late last night."

Scott laughs as he opens the tank on his car. "Yeah, well, when Reese wants a project done, you don't waste time."

Laura grins. "I'd have to agree."

"Talk to Katie yet this morning? I was hoping everyone had a good time last night."

Laura shakes her head. "Talked to Con last night. He said Katie and Jason left the party early - was kinda worried, but he drove past Jason's place later and saw his truck there. Actually, I thought you'd know about that...Katie didn't come home last night that I know of, so I assumed she was with you or something."

Scott lifts his eyebrows, a bit of concern creeping up on him. "No..." He starts to pump gas, his mind wandering. "Maybe I'll...or... if she's late to work, I'll call her and see what's up - make sure everything is okay."

We both

*Just stops and thinks about Carson's words some more. Working them over in her mind and than looking at Carson she searchs his face. Seeing the pain that was behind his eyes.*

"She sounds like she was a real good person. I never had someone I was close to like that. Peter was the first guy I even ever considered a boyfriend. I never loved him and I new he didn't love me but he was what I deserved and now, I'm not sure where in life I should be."

*Feeling a bit strange talking about herself Jess reverts the conversation back to Carson.*

"Do you think she is really happy without you?"

*Jess puts her hands into the pockets on the back of her jeans as she walks with Carson knowing there destanation was coming up fast Jess almost dreaded it. Slowing to match Carson's pase Just lets out a sigh.*

"Well...I guess we both have something hard to work through together than huh? At least we don't have to feel to alone now."

*Jess continues to walk as her eyes felt a little glazed the tears that wanted to come but she wouldn't let. Life, what was life to her now?*

*Katie lays stairing into the dark. She was happy Jason didn't feel alone anymore. The comfort, and protection she had to offer him that he liked and helped him Katie was happy to freely give without any question to what she would get in return. See that she helped Jason was enough for her.

No, your not alone. You won't ever be alone again.

Stoping for a moment Katie can't help but let out a laugh.

Ok so that sounded a little creepy but you know what I ment.

After everything Jason and herself had been through Katie was happy they could still be friends for now. It was always nice to spend time with Jason, and laugh with him. Katie was still thankful for that.

Maybe thats why you still have these dreams J, because you havn't really delt with everything. Maybe reliving all of it even the way you felt was hidden away and now it want to come out so you can move forward.

Katie thinks about her own words and wondered if they might be true. Why caused this inside Jason? She new he probely would deal with this for the rest of his life, but would it become easyer once he faced it. Would it not drain everything from him? Or would he always have to deal with the aftermath as well.

Hero's don't know best and they don't know all, but I try to be there for you when ever you need me J. I don't wan't you ever to feel alone through any of this stuff. Even if we are just friends, I wan't you to know I'm there for you.

As Jason shifts Kaite moves a tiny bit as well to give him some room and not to make him feel cramped, and than takes the position she was in before.

Thanks for leting me be your Hero J. It gives a certin meaning to my life thats unexplainable.*

Summer breeze

Jason quietly receives Katie’s feelings and deciphers them. It was second nature now…like simply knowing another language.

His mind wanders a bit, taking him back through time as she communicates…remembering their history together.

I hate it that you feel everything… I know it’s not my fault, and I know I shouldn’t have ever had to go through that as a child… but no one should have to share that with me either. It’s bad enough that the torment was passed on to me… it’s worse that it affects others now too.

He pauses his thoughts, mulling over them by himself until he expresses more.

But I guess… in a way, I now know I’m not alone. It used to be no one knew what I went through… at least knowing that you see it all, I know that I’m not going through it alone anymore.

As Katie shifts her weight, Jason retrieves his hand to tuck under his pillow again. He blinks back a couple more tears, though they’re almost gone now as his emotions start to settle once more.

My dreams are different now. They used to just be about the past…maybe mixed in with the present, and just a bit of imagination thrown in. Now… now it’s like I’m starting to remember things I didn’t before. It was always facts and physical torment. Now…now I’m remembering how I felt. I never realized how desperate I was…how as only a child I would rather have died that continued to be held by Alex. I guess…I guess I’m afraid that I will remember more that I didn’t before and it will just get worse.

Jason heaves a weary sigh and shifts his weight a little, but is careful not to move too much to make Katie uncomfortable.

Thanks for staying…I guess I needed my hero tonight whether I wanted to admit it or not.

Carson hears Jess’ question, but doesn’t answer right away. He was glad that Jess felt safe around him…at least he was doing something right again… at least he was still capable of making someone feel comfortable around him instead of hurting them or just taking advantage of them.

“No…” He finally answers her question, his eyes going back to the sidewalk as they walk. “I guess we never counted the stars. I did a lot when I was a kid…back in Australia.”

He pauses again, wondering how much he really wanted to talk about. It didn’t hurt as much now as it did…it was more of a dull ache. Especially after tonight and seeing that Misty had found someone else.

“She was like a breeze on a summer day, Jess. The only one that ever made my heart stop…the only one that ever turned me upside down. When no one else gave me a chance, she did…when all anyone else saw was an outlaw, she saw more than I even saw myself.”

Carson takes a deep breath. “And I cheated on her.” He shakes his head, finding it easier to admit, but still hearing it as so very foolish and utterly stupid. “Twice. Two strikes and I was out.”

They near TJY and Carson slows a little. “But I guess she’s happy now…and I’m glad. I suppose now it’s time for me to let her go…just finding it a little harder to do than I thought.”

Did she

*Feeling Jason's grib tighten just a little it gives Katie a strange comfort, just knowing Jason was close and he was ok. Thinking about his message for a moment Katie is silent. Thinking over in her own mind about everything and how there powers had grown into something more than when they first started out.

It use to be I just felt your emotional pain, I never new what was really going on other than how you felt, and if you talked at all the words that came from your mouth, than you told me about what had happend to you ask a kid and I new a little more what you felt was not good. Than as we grew closer but when our own ways at when I left the ranch and than you came back to Nevada it was like I could now hear what was going on in your head. Slowly it would get louder and louder as if you were calling me, telling me what was wrong. Than after that one time when you were in prison and we shaired the one moment, when we got to see eachother and I felt you without feeling you through the glass after that it was like..when you were thrown into an attack or into a nightmare I could see it. Almost like a movie. I no long just felt your pain, I saw it as well. Does it hurt me? Of course it does. No one should have to go through what you have J. No one, and it pains me that I can't do anything to stop it from happening to you. I mean I know its not my place, but I wish I could just take your pain away from you. I don't like seeing you suffer. So yes it does hurt me. but I wouldn't change this talent for anything because though I can't take away your pain I can ease it and that at least helps me think I am doing something good.

Katie shifts a little on the coutch turning so she is laying on her back though her arm still rests on Jason's leg. Leting out a sigh she stairs up into the dark. It was true she could bring back any memorie Jason had and replay it in her own mind. Like poping it into a dvd player and pressing the start button. Only to lock it away again when it was over. Katie often wondered if someone could pick her brain with out her knowing it would they find a whole section that contained things about Jason. Would there be one designated area that was just about him? Katie's never really thought about it before, but it made sence. Where did all Jason's emotions go inside of her? Did they store away or was it just like digesting something.*

*Jess walks along with Carson and listens to him. Looking up at the sky herself. It was a bold move but she was curouse why she wasent sure but she was.*

"Did she, your girlfriend would she count the stars with you? What was she like?"

*Jess lets her question linger for a moment not sure if she oversteped her bounds or not. Hating to feel awkward if she had she just keeps talking.*

"Hah, Your the only real friend I got now Carson and I like talking with you. I guess I just feel safe around you too."

*Jess turns her attachen to there sarrounding as the dark shadows lerk. Put the moon shown down and lit there was and Jess did feel comfortable and safe with Carson near. *

9/9/08

Do you?

Knowing Katie was there…feeling her so close to him is like a healing agent in itself. Jason just lies still for several moments, trying to get over the nightmare he’d just had…trying to wash the images from his mind. It simply never got any easier no matter how many times this happened.

Jason’s hand moves to reach down, feeling Katie at his side. His fingers rest on her arm as she speaks to him, and he blinks back more tears. His grip tightens just a little without him even realizing it.

Does it hurt you when I go through this? Do you see my flashbacks too, or my dreams? Or do you only sense my emotions?

Carson stuffs his hands in his jacket pockets as he and Jess walk. “Oh…don’t thank me. I need the exercise anyway.” There was more truth in that statement than he’d like to admit. Tomorrow though, he would start tackling that area at least.

He glances up to the clear, cool sky, seeing all the stars. “I remember lying on the beach,” he muses. “…counting stars at night…hearing the surf…” He sighs a little, bringing himself back. “Glad you stopped by tonight. Guess it was a little busier than expected.”

Reflect

*Kaite's eyes open though she dosn't move much. Just listing to Jason's raging emotions she knows he is ok but just waking from a dream. Gently wraping one of her arms around Jason she suddaly lets him know she is there and he is ok. After he lays back down Katie finally speaks softly though Jason had said nothing he didn't need too.*

"Sometimes crying is the best way to let you emotions out. It's not a bad thing."

*Giving his leg a squeeze again Katie stairs into the darkness, just waiting to hear Jason's quiet breathing again.*

*Jess turns around quick as she hears Carson's voice. Another smile though small slips to her lips. Giving a small nod accepting the company. It felt good to have someone to walk with, even if not many words were spoken.

The moon shown down as the two figures walked down the street. The air was cool, but it felt nice. Soon, all to soon it would get even colder and little hints of snow would fall even though it never stayed.

As they walk Jess reflects on a few things about her life. Where she came from, how she came to nevada, and how her path was paved. Why she was thinking about this stuff now she wasn't sure. She'd rather not, but it was there anyways.*

"Thank you Carson...for walking with me."

Cursed

A small smile surfaces as Katie settles down next to Jason, and he yawns, giving in to his tiredness. Images of the past still floated in and out of his mind, and he knew they would probably bother him tonight. But at least the worst of it was over, and after all his energy had been spent, he was too tired to fight sleep. He’d tried to fight it too many times in the past, just to wind up realizing he couldn’t.

Kyle grins at Misty and watches until she’s left before turning back around and trudging to his room. Not even bothering to undress, he flops into bed, asleep almost before his head hits the pillow.

The bell on Mom and Pop’s rings one more time, a voice calling down the sidewalk after Jess. “Walk you back?” Carson didn’t like the thought of her walking alone in the dark just yet…not until Peter had been put away. He stands waiting for either a yes or a no.

Running…crying...screaming… Jason’s feet pound the ground as he looks over his shoulder, racing through the shadows. He wasn’t in the house. He was in dark woods with no moon to light the way. He was running…running…someone was chasing him. Glowing eyes came after him. Fear clung to Jason’s heart, terror seizing his mind. He ran further and further. He could hear Alex’s laughter behind him, getting closer….closer. Jason felt like he was running in place. He was trying to get away…trying to reach the light. Suddenly he stops. He’s at the edge of a cliff. The deep ravine was so far down that it could not be seen, shrouded in a dark fog.

Jason starts to mumble in his sleep beginning to move, writhing under the nightmare’s hold. He tosses his head back and forth, caught in a world beyond sleep.

He stops, panting…sweating. He hears Alex getting closer and closer. He hears the sharp voice, the demanding tone. He looks over his shoulder at the oncoming tormentor, then looks into the ravine that was certain death. Alex comes nearer. His hand reaches out. But Jason steps away. Time stands still. He’s caught in a strange trance, weighing options that his child’s mind should never contemplate. And he chooses. He steps off the cliff.

Jason wakes with such a start that his whole body jolts and he almost falls off the couch. It’s such a move that even Trooper jumps and gets up to make sure everything is okay.

Jason’s pulse is racing and he tries to catch his breath, staring into his dark living room. The fear was still so fresh, so real. Even if he’d known the nightmares would come, it didn’t lessen the pain.

Feeling Katie still with him, he sinks back down into the throw pillow, a tear trickling from his eye, hidden by the darkness. Why was he cursed with these memories…

Scan

*Feeling Jason's foot wrap around her and having him tug Katie moves to make it a little easyer. Resting her head on his hip Katie can't help but smile. Lifting her head she sits up for a moment reaching her hand out and gently fluffs Jason hip before laying down again. *

"Well well J."

*Watching TV for a while Katie's eyes become tired, before she lift her head to check Jason than lay it back down smiling at Trooper. Than closing her own eyes she drifts to sleep but not to deep for tonight she new Jason might need her again.*

*Misty can't help but a little laugh and shake her head as she watchs Kyle trip on his way inside. As he turns and looks at her she brings a hand to her mouth to shield her smile and muffle her laughs.*

"How about you get to your room without killing youself and than I'll decied if you can take it from there or not. Because right now I see someone who is going to hurt themself before they even get there yet."

*Misty finally steps up to Kyle and lean into him giving him a quick kiss.*

"GoodNight Kyle. Get lots of rest and no work tomarrow."

*Misty smiles and turns around heading back to her car.*

*Finishing off her milkshake and seeing Mom and Pop's was closing soon Jess lays some money on the counter lets out a sigh. She didn't really want to go back to TJY but she didn't really want to go home eather. Peter could be anywhere. Giving a wave Jess turns and heads for the door stoping and looking out almost scanning the area before steping outside. Finally the small bell rings and Jess disapears outside.*

Couch

Kyle opens one eye, taking a moment to remember where on earth he was. It had only been fifteen minutes or so from Mom and Pop's to here, but it felt like he'd been asleep for an hour.

Turning his head groggily, he sees Misty and quirks a partial grin. "I guess...I better get out of your car then, hmm?"

Trying to wake up enough to function, he unbuckles his seatbelt and slides out of the car, staggering just a little. He looks over his shoulder once and stifles a laugh. "If I'm not careful somebody's gonna think I was out drinking tonight."

Still groggy, he makes his way to the apartment and fishes in his pockets for his keys, finally finding them in a lower pocket. Letting himself in, he trips over a jacket on the floor before switching on the light.

Turning to Misty, he gives a little bow. "Thankee, melady for your kind assistance." His glazed eyes and silly speech prove how tired he is. In the morning he wouldn't even remember this. "I suppose I should take it from here."

Jason raises his head and quirks an eyebrow as Katie sits down next to him. He knew she was loyal despite his harshness...but he hadn't expected her to stay with him. In reality, it made him feel all the more worse for pushing her away like he had. No, he wasn't ready for more, but he could have handled things differently.

Swallowing hard, Jason shifts his weight a little bit, making room for Katie. He just stares at the television for a few minutes, unsure what to say...what to do. He knew tonight would be hard...and he couldn't feel any better, knowing that Katie was there with him.

Finally sighing and relenting to ignore the awkwardness between them, Jason slides down further on the couch to use the armrest rest his head. Shifting onto his side, he brings his legs over and in front of Katie, hooking her waist with one, to pull her down behind him so she could use his hip as a pillow. "Keep the tv down," he mumbles, closing his eyes. "Or Trooper will complain."

Sometimes

*As Jess listened to the guy next to her, how in depth his words were and how is eyes reveled that he really meant and believed what he said. Strange he was maybe, but insightful and mysterious he was. Not to mention a smile that could lure even though who were steadfast. Yes, he we certainly different from anyone Jess had met before. But she wasn't sure if that fact scared her or intrigued her more.

Once Axel starts to walk away Jess eyes follow him. Thinking about his words and than shaking her head. Jess replys to herself outloud.*

"Yeah, but sometimes being alone, is safer."

*Turning back to the counter Jess looks back down at the counter and finish off her drink.*

*Katie gives Jason a hug back as he takes her in trying to keep her emotions undercontroll. Receving Jason aploigy Katie gives a small nod that she understood and exsepted them.*

"I'm sorry to J, I really shouldn't have pushed you like I did, and what I said I didn't mean eather. Sorry for bringing up painful memories."

*As Jason pulls away and heads into the other room Katie follows him and stands behind the coutch. Yes tonight she could block Jason out. But what if he had another attack, or if something alse happend. She would never know. No, Katie wasn't willing to risk that. Coming around to the front of the coutch Katie sits down next to Jason and kicks her shoes off bringing her feet up and under her. Reaching out she grabs the remote from the table and flips the tv on. Stairing at the screen Katie talks.*

"Lets see if there is anything good on tonight."

Apologies come anyway

Axel turns a little bit, one elbow still on the counter. “Mm…there are plenty of observant people…they just don’t take the time to figure out what they’re seeing. Someone could look at a rose all day long and still see just a flower. Whereas someone else can see the beautiful intricacy, smell the sweet scent, and enjoy it for the delicate treasure that it is.”

“Yo, Grease, you coming?!”

Axel ignores Max’s call as he continues to study Jess’ face, allowing her to see into his eyes. “Someone can observe a smile and simply say it’s a smile…” He pauses, a soft smile returning. “And someone else might say it reveals the mystery of one’s inner thoughts.” He gives a short nod. “One shouldn’t ever hide themselves from the world. It just makes it a lonelier place to be.”

“Axel!”

He finally turns, but not to his friends – to Mabel instead. “Thanks for the service, Mabel. Nice to meet you, and I’ll see you in the morning for a nice hot cup of coffee around nine o’clock.”

He gives as little wave, and pushes off the counter to rejoin his friends. He hadn’t asked or invited…but anyone who wondered would know when he’d be back.

Jason knows that he’s hurt Katie…again. And he could kick himself…again. No matter what choice he made…no matter the decision, no matter what he did…he always hurt her.

Heaving a sigh, he waits for her to return, thankful for the orange juice, letting the gratefulness out for her to feel. He didn’t know if he could have gotten through this one without her here or not…but he didn’t want to find out.

Jason gives a little nod, and after a few minutes, finally has the energy to pull himself up off the floor. The aftermath of these attacks was never any easier, but he was learning how to function once they were over, and though hard, he could at least get himself going again until he could rest.

Still soaked in sweat, he opts to head for his bedroom, leaving Katie in the hall so he can change into a dry t-shirt and more comfortable jeans. Coming back out, he leans on his bedroom doorway for just a moment, glancing down the hall to Katie. She would do just about anything for him…no matter what he said…no matter how angry or upset she was. Was it their connection that made her so loyal, or would she be that way, even if stripped of this bond?

Shaking his head a little, Jason approaches her slowly and without asking, pulls her into a hug. He was utterly exhausted and knew he needed to rest. “Thanks, Hero…for everything… and…I’m sorry I yelled at you. I didn’t really mean those things I said.”

Giving the top of her head a light kiss, he lets Katie go, turning to the living room. On nights like this, he would prefer to be closer to the front door. If anything happened, his bedroom was far enough away that he’d be clueless if he were asleep.

Easing down into a corner of the couch, he leans back, closing his eyes. “I’ll probably have nightmares tonight,” he tells Katie quietly. “So just shut me out so you can get a good night’s sleep. Take my truck…I’ll walk to work in the morning.’
