*For a moment as the judge speaks and the words of being guilty are hurd Lockheart's heart sinks. How could this happen.
A small gasp escapes Katie's lips. No, they coulent all go to jail. Lockheart had done so good, she had made a strong case.*
* A tear rolls from Rosetta's eye as her grip tighten around Mick's hand. Her Ranch, her home, her friends....all gone.*
*The chatter and gasps, mermers continue untill the sound of the judges gavel is hurd when all falls silent again. No one quit understanding what was going on.
As the judge continues and the rest of what he has to say it hurd, as the names are read off, name of the past, faces forgoten but remembered. Names of people who dident even know this hearing was going on stricken clean. Faces break off into smiles, joy fills hearts bringing hope.
Finally when the draws to a close and the room goes crazy everyone stands. Excitment, hope running through the air.
Lockhear smiles back at Reese. Her face bright a beaming. It felt good to know these people were free now.*
"It was my pleasesure Reese. I am glad it worked out for the best."
*For a moment Misty forgets about her ingorys and stands jumping into Carson's arms and wraping her legs around him wincing once but not caring.*
"Like I mind being stuck with you."
*Misty rolls her eyes and leans in pressing her lips to Carson's.
Beaming Aerith throws her arms around Wyatt.*
"Thank you Lord...thank you."
*Squeezing Wyatt alittle tighter Aerith cant help but start to giggle as she draws away.*
"Oh I'm so happy you guys won Wyatt. This is wonderful."
*Katie returns Scott's kiss with enthusasum. Kaite's heart sang for joy. One capter in life was closed and another was now open. What more could she ask for.
Nate stands and embraces Laura. A million emotions running through his mind.*
"We did, We'er free."
*As Jamie is lifted into the air wraped in Con's arms she cant help but let out a stong laugh that runs out through the court room. The joy, the releaf was over welming. Giving Con a Kiss on the lips till her lets her down Jamie cant help but let out a whoop of her own...yelling.*
"DINNER TO CELABRATE AT MOM AND POP'S LETS GO!!!!"
*Jamie makes her way to the door pulling Con along in excitment. Followed by everyone alse.*

CELABRATION!
Ruling
Lockheart's words drive hope into those waiting. Her courage, her passion…it is what they all felt and all desired to express. Honor rested among them…humility for the acts they had done without prior praise. Recognition was not something they were used to, but here and now, it felt good. No matter what happened, no one regretted their involvement with TJY.
As Lockheart finishes and sits next to Reese and turns his head to give her a nod, expressing his gratitude. His eyes reflect his feelings that she had done her best, for the best of TJY and no one else could have done better.
Those at the ranch listen intently, drawn in by what was happening. All await the judge’s response.
Judge Mills leans back in his chair and scans the eyes that look upon him. The room is deathly quiet. One could hear a pin drop. Someone’s foot scuffs the floor, making someone else jump. A bird flutters by one of the windows, an unnecessary annoyance rising as the tension continues.
Fingering his gavel, Judge Mills remains deep in thought, not allowing the quietness to pressure him into a quick decision.
He glances down to sift through his papers once more before finally raising his head again. “We will recess. Please reconvene in forty-five minutes.”
As he rises from his seat, the TJY group sinks lower in their chairs. They just wanted to know the verdict. Some rise to stretch their legs. The policemen at the doors allow them to move about and leave the room to use the restrooms or the water fountain.
Carson bounces his leg nervously and goes for a pack of gum. Jason paces in the corner. Others just sit and wait, silent, with no words to speak.
The forty-five minutes seem to take an eternity. But right on time, the judge returns, forcing everyone back into their seats, eyes forward once again. No one dares murmur a sound.
Judge Mills’ voice takes over the room once more. “Never in all my years as a judge have I ever come across a case even close to this one. Never have I had anything even close to what I’m hearing now. It really is absurd. An underground corporation of vigilantes? But the proof is here.” He holds up a stack of papers, including those Lockheart had given him. “You exist, and apparently this thing called the Agency exists as well.”
He scans the expectant faces. “I don’t think I have to remind you all that everyone here deserves to spend time behind bars one way or another. Despite your desperation, feeling alone, and longing to help others, your actions have not only gone above the law, but in some cases have been downright illegal.”
Several TJY staff swallow hard. Scott’s fingers tighten around Katie’s. Jason sits rigid in his seat, his knuckles growing white from the fists he holds in his lap. Con keeps his grip on Jamie’s hand. Laura’s eyes shift to the side, searching for reassurance in Nate. Wyatt stiffens, ready for Aerith needing to leave. Carson grits his teeth, feeling Misty next to him, and finding it hard not to run. All are quiet. All are tense.
Judge Mills continues. “All of you deserve punishment in one form or another. The case I see is black and white. I honestly have no legal reason to let you off the hook, despite your willingness to come forward, and your strong defense.”
Hearts begin to sink. This was it. This was the end.
The mess hall at the ranch is deathly still. All eyes remain glued to the screen as they hear what’s happening. This wasn’t good. The judge was aiming in the wrong direction. No…he couldn’t do this. Not after Lockheart’s words. Not after her plea that exposed the very heart of TJY.
Judge Mills’ face remain solemn. “My ruling is as follows. I find TJY, its employees and all affiliates in state and out…guilty.”
Eyes widen in shock. Jaws drop. Shock like a wave surges across the courtroom.
The ranch messhall sits in stunned silence. After all their work…after that speech by Lockheart – how could this be happening?!
Cindy chokes on a muffled sob as she tries not to distract from what the others are viewing.
Mumblings break out across the courtroom as irritation rises. There is hurt and anger. No one understands how this could be happening. Not after all that Lockheart and Sheriff Brown had done. Not after all their efforts.
The judge raps his gavel on the stand loudly. “Order!” he demands. “Or you’ll all be held in contempt of court.” He watches and waits until there is silence again.
“The sentencing is as follows: Those employed by TJY, and its affiliates in and out of state are hereby sentenced to…considering commitments and contracts, signing on to a new branch of law enforcement – the Elite.”
Eyes widen even further. What was going on?
Judge Mills continues matter-of-factly. “Anyone may consider not joining the Elite, but if not an employee, they must remain uninvolved in future cases, and if interfering with this law enforcement, will be treated as civilian.” He picks up several sheets of paper. “Along with your obligations to upholding the law, whether part of the Elite or not, and considering past heroisms, comes the state of Nevada’s obligations to recognize the efforts of TJY and its band of vigilantes for the help they have provided to law enforcement. Upon this recognition, the state of Nevada hereby grants pardons to the following persons. This does not mean that criminal acts outside of lawful efforts, such as by those who may have been employed by the Agency, have gone ignored, however, I feel it is more worth to start with clean slates than dredge up individual crimes. Therefore, the names are: Michael Henson, Rosetta Pent, James and Rebecca Henson, Tyler Henson, Wes and Cindy Henson…” The names continue to be rattled off.
Those in the courtroom and those at the ranch are on the edges of their seats, all waiting to hear their names. Hope had been restored. Was this really happening this way? Was it really, truly turning out how they had hoped and prayed it would?
“…Angel Lachey, Wendy Lachey, Luke Trahern…Samantha Henson…Annie Henson…Trent Pent…”
Trent sinks down further in his chair, stunned. Of all people, he should have been stricken from that list.
“…Austin Stevenson…Casey (Carter) Stevenson…Nathaniel Driers…Conrad Gibbs…Laura Gibbs…” The names continue, listing everyone from far and wide, who had ever touched on any case either involving the Agency, or dealing directly with TJY. “Greg Timble, Dr. Jack Timble, Xander Trahern…Jeffrey Pent, Eric Pent…Derek Stevenson…”
Jason tenses just a little, hearing the name of his father. It sounded strange…he’d seen it in print when going through old files, but hearing it aloud felt…just strange.
“…Jason Stevenson…Katherine Pent…Scott Johnson, Sapphire Johnson…Misty Miller…Carson Banks…”
Though assuming it was coming, Carson feels a strange pang as his name is read. He was pardoned…Him…of all people…the worst of the worst… being pardoned….it was…humbling.
“…Rick and Janet Johnston…Wesley Sanders…Allen Bryers…Angelica Lockheart…Mike Reese, Wyatt Reese…Mississippi Lachey…Trish Anderson…Jamie Franklin…Clint Henson, Rosalynn Henson, Tyler Baker-Henson…Melanie Thomas…Damien Shaw…” Name after name after name…those with TJY, those from Texas, family members, those heavily involved in work, those who simply knew of their work. “…Gary Miles…Hal Timbs…”
The list goes on until Judge Mills is finally finished reading off the names. Drawing them to a close, he sets his paper down, though still speaks. “Any names omitted from this list may submit requests to be pardoned that I will grant as I see fit.”
He looks out on all the faces again. “Details regarding the forming and employment of the Elite is now handed over to Sheriff Brown. He will deal with individuals and process as he sees fit outside of this courtroom.”
Pausing again, he scans the stunned expressions, and a trace of a smile can be seen on his stern face. “Court adjourned. Now please – I have a murder trial next, and I need this room.” Feeling the shocked silence, he waves them off. “So get out of here and celebrate your win, or I’m going to drag you all back in here again!”
Suddenly someone lets out a whoop and everyone is on their feet.
Con stands abruptly, and grabs Jamie, lifting her off her feet and spinning her around.
Reese tilts his head back and closes his eyes, letting out a long slow breath of relief. Turning, he looks to Lockheart. “Thank you…”
Carson stands with the others and grins at Misty, his eyes regaining their spark. “Looks like you’re still stuck with me.”
Wyatt breaths a sigh of relief and he can’t help his smile as he turns to Aerith. “I can’t believe we did it…we really did it…” His hand tightens around hers. “I guess I’ll get that hug after all.”
Jason leans his back up against the wall, just closing his eyes for a moment, his hands in his pockets. It was over…the hiding was over…and best of all – he would not have to go back to prison. Relief wasn’t half of what he felt. Opening his eyes, he scans his coworkers…his friends. Their lives would still be changing, but it was in the right direction this time. Giving a little nod, he’s one of the first to head out of the courtroom.
Scott’s head whips around to Katie, his eyes wide. Slowly a smile spreads. Without needing to say anything, he draws her close and plants a kiss on her lips, not caring who was there or watching.
Laura gets to her feet, bouncing just a little as she looks to Nate, her smile spreading from ear to ear. “We won! We really won!”
Cheers break out through the mess hall back at the ranch as excitement can’t be contained. Tears of joy stream down faces. Hugs, laughter and loud chatter can’t be contained.
The Hearing
*The ride to the court room is quiet. The questions on everyone's minds but the words not spoken for fear it would only make them true. Everyone clings to those they hold near. Some have there heads bowed as they pray.
Aeirth hold Wyatt's hand the whole way to the court house. Her other hand on top. Silent prayers fill her mind. Finally arriving Aerith hand slips from Wyatts geting out of the car.
As everyone makes they way into the court room hearts race and nervs are high. Finding there seats everywaits not knowing what is to come.
Katie keeps her eye glued forward watching, waiting...wondering.
Jamie stands close to Con, slightly leaning on him. Feeling his comfort. Whispering softly*
"I love you."
*Than turning her attachen back to the judges stand.*
Nate keeps his fingers wraped around Laura's giving them a gentil aqueeze.
Lockheart takes her place at a small table infront of the judges stand. Opening her brefcase and takeing out papers, files, and envilopes.*
*Rosetta clings to Mick as they watch the TV. Katie can slightly be made out. Seeing her siting there was sad knowing she was drawn into this hurt even more. Life was starting to turn out good, Rosetta's own family being built and yet today all that could be taken away. Clinging alittle tighter Rosetta waits pashently.
Wes wraps his arm around Cindy holding her close. Giving her the comfort she despretly needed. Feeling her warmth close to him gave his own hope everything would be ok.
Angel sits with Luke her own paulse racing. Angel smiles at her eyes meet Lukes for a moment before there attachen was taking back to the TV, the court was about to start.*
*As the Judge calls to Lockheart her paulse races. Gathering up her papers Lockheart stalls for time to calm herself. Blocking all emotions except confadence from her mind Lockheart stands and draws closer to the judge clearing her throught.*
"I make my opening statement saying the state convicts innocent people all the time; we don’t always look at what is right and what is true. We often are quick to pass judgment before details are met, and getting the whole story. Sometimes it’s easier for us to believe what we think we see than to believe what is really true and have faith. You’re path is hard choosing to take ones life or give them life. So reach into the depths of your heart now and listen what I have to say about these people. Open your eyes for me and your hearts so these people can be herd.*
*Lockheart turns and gesturs to the TJY staff. Her eyes finding Reese and gaining even more condence, than Dart to Katie's she was so young, she couldent go to jail, than to Jasons, she lets him down once she couldent do it again. Turning again Lockheart continues.
Going through what she can trying not to leave out details. Going over what she had planed out and taking everything father into detailed. Everything Lockheart spoke was the truth according to Reese and a few others she talked to. With this there as no skimming, no hiding what went on. EVERYTHING was out and open.
Stoping Lockheart walks back to the table and grabs a very large vanilla envilope. Walking to the judges stand with it Lockheart hands it to him.*
"I also have some new evidence that was presented to me last night. Samantha Henson who is now desisted had these file for a while that were being kept for her. How they got into my hands I can not say. I was promised to my own silence. But I went over the papers, files and everything in there is legit. Its more proof that the Agency does exists, and what these people at TJY do is for the right reason."
*Once again Lockheart draws silent as she flips through pages with the judge revealing names, places, acts by the agency. Also followed up by photos, letters, names and acts of good TJY had done. Sam had everything written out, everything laminated, filed by times, times, place, names. That single file held more information than all of TJY could ever dream of having. There was even information about BJ, about what happen with Katie’s mother and brother, everything. Everything dating back to when Rosetta, Mick, Annie, the whole gang was born and taken. From what it looked like Sam had been working on this for a long time, waiting for a moment like this to come.
Time seems to pass slow but als it does not. Before anyone knows it at least an hour had gone by as Lockheart's Strong voice rang out through the court room. Her confadence, her passion showing through bringing hope to those who had little. Offering light to those who were in dark till finally Lockheart was drawing to an end of her talking.*
"…So in concluding I say these cases that TJY has worked on for many years. The good they have done. Many bad people are behind bars because of this underground corporation. Many unexplained things have been brought to a case that has helped catch those to deserve to be put away. Would we condemn a super hero for saving the word? Would we turn away a super hero who catches the robber, or the rapist? No we would write in the papers about the hero that saved lives, we would stand in aw at the chance to get a glimpse of the hero that caught the guy trying to destroy an innocent life. So I ask you what is so different with this group of people. They are our heroes here in Nevada and around the world. They have take bullets for the innocent, shed blood for the weak, and some have even died to save another life. They resuse the person who was being raped or the guy that’s life flashed before his eyes as his throat was going to be slit. They saved the wrongly accused and always put themselves before others risking there life to die for the innocent. Yes…these are our heroes. There are the people I want to know are around the corner as my child walks home from school, As I go out to my car in the middle of the night. These are the people I am honored to call friends, my heroes. Never have they receved a thanks for saving my life, Thanks for not leting me die. Never have they asked for money for what they did, they hid in the shadows finding joy in knowing what they did was right....These are our heros, our Angels."
*Lockhearts gaze once again drifts across the room to all the many faces looking back at her. A smile crossing her lips. Looking back to the judge much feeling in what she had just said and her eyes portrayed it. Lockheart turns but doesn’t take her place at the table but instead she goes and sits with the people from TJY. Siting in the only empty seat next to Reese. If they were to go down so was she. Everything she had worked for, her business would be gone, her career destroyed, but it’s was worth it to stand up for these people. To do what was right. She was one of them in one way or another now.*
Court
Everyone ready to leave stands in silence as Lockheart speaks. Though no one knows what will happen, and though this time is grim, her strong words seem to provide strength to those who need it. No matter what, they were proud of who they were and what they had done through TJY.
Reese gives Lockheart a nod as she finishes. Looking over his staff, he grows a little solemn. “Whatever happens today guys…you have been the best staff anyone could ask for. I’m proud to not only call you my employees, but to call you my friends. Thank you for putting your heart, souls and lives on the line for the cause of TJY. It’s been an honor.”
Giving another short, decisive nod, he claps his hands. “Alright! Everybody load up, or we’re going to be late!” He gestures to Lockheart. “I’m driving van two – you can ride shotgun with me.”
Wyatt shakes his head at Aerith. “No, I don’t know yet. I think it will be okay though…we’ll just have to see if the bailiff will let you in. Probably if you just stick with me, you can slip in without anyone questioning.”
He turns his head for just a moment, keeping one eye on the road. “Thanks for coming, Aerith…it means a lot. If things go south today…it might get kind of crazy, so all I need you to do is get out fast if that happens so you don’t get caught in the middle. Then go straight back to Mom and Pop’s so they can help you out.”
Wyatt reaches a hand over to take Aerith’s. “But just keep praying that doesn’t happen.”
After a few minutes as they pull onto the highway to head to the next town, Wyatt chuckles. “Great timing.” Coming down the road are three black vans. “There’s the gang. We’ll slip in behind them.”
The trip takes them half an hour. To some it seems long, to others it seems too short. Friends sit near each other to offer support, though not many words are said. Those in love clasp hands, trying to give each other comfort and hope. So much was at stake…so much on the line.
As the large courthouse comes into view, the vans file into the parking lot along with Wyatt’s jeep. Parking in a row, everyone gets out and waits for Reese and Lockheart to lead the way.
Reese gives one last glance over his people, then to Lockheart. “Let’s go.”
The small crowd receive many strange glances from passers by, looking at them with question. Who were they? What were they doing here? Were they good or bad, heading into court?
Up the steps and inside the wide open foyer, Sheriff Brown is waiting. He steps forward, offering his hand to Reese then Lockheart. Relief shows on his face. “I trusted you guys, but it’s good to see you actually came.” His eyes scan the others. “Wow…you do have quite a base.”
Reese chuckles. “This is just who’s in the office.”
“Alrighty then…” Brown takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. “Follow me. Judge Mills will be here soon and the proceedings are to start in twenty minutes.”
The whole group marches down the tiled halls until they reach two tall doors that lead into a large courtroom filled with more than enough seats. Reese gestures to everyone. “If you could all please find your seats, I would appreciate it. I know from Reese you all are honorable people, but it’s my job to remind you to remain respectful, quiet unless spoken to, and above all, cause no riots or you will only make things worse for yourselves. I want this thing to work out as much as any of you, because I’ve been convinced what you people have been doing is right. But my job is to help keep peace.”
Understanding and complying, the TJY group begins to find their seats.
Scott breaks away to approach Brown himself, offering a handshake even though his stomach was in knots from nervousness. “Hi, I’m Scott Johnson.”
“Ah, yes.” Brown nods as he shakes his hand. “You’re the tech guy.”
“That’s right.”
“Good. We got everything set up just how Reese said you’d need it, so feel free to come on over and do what you have to do.”
Scott holds up his cell phone. “I’ll have to call up to the Texas ranch so they can be set up too.”
“No problem.”
Scott glances behind him to find Katie and gives her a little wink. He knew she’d save a seat next to her for him.
It doesn’t take Scott long to get the camera set up, and after calling Pete to get things going at the ranch, everything was in place.
The courtroom grows quiet. Scott’s hand is around Katie’s as they wait. Laura sits nervously next to Nate. Con has an arm around Jamie, trying not to think of the worst. Carson is next to Misty with his fingers entwined in hers. Jason sits off to the side surrounded by a few empty seats, letting his own thoughts run rampant. Wyatt, who had received permission to let Aerith in, sits with her quietly near the back.
The mess hall at the ranch sits in silence as all eyes focus on the screen. It was a wide shot of the courtroom, showing just the edge of the crowd that was there, and the judge’s stand. All wait…all worry…all pray. Mick keeps Rosetta’s hand in his, his mind drifting from her there with him, to the little boy down the hall who played, clueless about what was really happening here.
Cindy leans her head on Wes’ shoulder, her courage keeping back the tears. She can just see Jason to the side of the screen.
Luke glances to his side at Angel, giving her an encouraging nod. He had faith...he had to.
Sparky and Mel sit next to each other, quietly waiting with the others. Before the proceedings begin, Sparky’s hand creeps over to hers and takes it to give it a gentle squeeze.
“All rise!”
A thunderous sound erupts as everyone stands. Judge Mills makes his way to his stand, his black robe proving his authoritative position. As he sits down, the room lowers once again. The bailiff announces the case, and everyone waits for the judge to speak.
Looking out across the room, his gray hair shows years of experience, his eyes not telling whether this was a case that he was intrigued by or annoyed by.
“I have reviewed this case thoroughly.” Judge Mill’s voice is deep, demanding attention. “You all know why you’re here. I see no reason to repeat details we all know and waste courtroom time. As such, I would like to proceed with this case as quickly an efficiently as we can.” His eyes scan the faces of those on trial. “I will hear from your representative and I will make a judgment based on your plea and based upon the information I have already reviewed. Anyone to create a disturbance before or after my judgment will be thrown out of this courtroom.”
He pauses for effect. “Miss Lockheart. Please step forward and present your case.”
Speech
*As Lockheart exits the office with Reese and scans all the faces a certin more confitint air forms around her. She was strong and needed to be stronger for every single person in this room. Clearing her throt Lockheart waves her hand in the air.*
"Excuse me people. Please if you could pay attachen to me for a moment. I have a few thinks I would like to talk to you about that is important."
*Lockheart waits as the room draws silent and everyone turns her way. Looking out into all the eyes Lockheart finds the strength. Glanding at Reese fast and than looking back out at everyone she finally speaks again.*
"Today is an important day, only that will be the foundation of TJY's freedome. There is no I can't, or wonts...there is only do, and will. Your faith has gotten you this far, it will see you through till the end and today we WILL walk out of that courtroom free to speak this companys name. The Agency will learn to fear TJY, and cring more than they do now when they hear the name. Today we go into battle and come out the winners."
*Lockheart scans the faces again, one to another. They eyes of many telling there storys. They hope displayed, the fear. It was there but it gave them life, and there faith was also pressent.*
"There are a few things I do ask though. Once we go into that court room, all must me silent. No matter what is said, you must not speak unless put up on that stand to testafy. I am sure non of you will be put up there but it is always a possablity. If any of you are just tell the truth, dont sugar coat it and it will be ok."
*Lockheart offers a smile to the crowd of people once more.*
"Well unless Reese has anything he would like to say. We are as ready as we ever are going to be."
*Lockheart looks to Reese to see if he had anything to add.*
*Aerith is releaved to see Wyatt pull up finally before Frankie can even think about coming into the restront or talking to her. Waving to Herb and Mable again they give her there wishes for Jamie and Aerith leaves again opening the door and jumping into the jeep. Leaning over Aerith gives him a quick kiss in the cheek.*
"Good timing."
*As Wyatt and Aerith pulls away Aerith dosent even bother to look where Frankie is but can feel his eyes watching the car as it pulls away.
As Aerith's smile returns to her face Aerith turns to talk to Wyatt.*
"So do we know if I will be able to come in or if I will have to wait outside? Anything I should know so its not a saprise?"
Time
Katie’s words…her touch…the emotions emitted through her voice and eyes… They made Scott’s pulse quicken just a little bit. Warmth comes to his cheeks as she asks him not to change. No one had ever said that to him before.
He wants to speak…wants to return her words, that she herself deserved so much, but they seem to get stuck in his throat at he gazes into her never-ending eyes. Her touch to his face makes him close his eyes for an instant, just remembering how her light stroke feels on his skin.
As Katie draws nearer, his hands automatically find their way to her sides, then back. Feeling her breath on his cheek, sensing her drawing closer and closer, a chill runs down his spine.
Her whispered words feel like a wind so strong to uproot a tree, but so gentle to caress a kite. Scott’s heart beats harder within his chest as Katie moves to kiss his lips. Tightening his hold around her, he returns the kiss with a passion discovered only for her.
Not wanting the moment to end, but knowing it must, Scott slowly, gently retreats. Searching Katie’s eyes, his own dance, despite the day they were facing. “Love…” he whispers, “so…that’s what this feeling is.”
His hand comes up to gently cradle the side of her face. “You’re an amazing woman, Katie…I love everything about you…and I’ll try not change too much, but only if you do too.”
Letting his eyes go from one of hers to the other, he moves in to plant another, quicker kiss on her lips. “Don’t let that horizon get away from you,” he whispers. “Without impossibilities, dreams can’t exist.”
Wyatt drives his jeep down the street, throwing it into a lower gear as he nears Mom and Pop’s He was running just a little late and needed to get back with everybody else, or at least meet them at the courthouse.
Spying a figure walking down the sidewalk, bit if ire hits Wyatt. Frankie wasn’t going to get away with anything…not today.
Pulling up near the front of the restaurant, Wyatt waves, seeing Aerith waiting inside.
Misty’s words are just as bit deeper than Carson was expecting, so he doesn’t respond other than giving her hand a squeeze. She made him feel different than any other woman ever had…and he likes it.
Walking to TJY gets them there just as everyone else is starting to gather.
Reese comes out of his office with Lockheart, heading to the group forming by the door.
Laura finds her way back to TJY and to Nate, forgetting about any of her own work today. Con joins the group, having managed to get a second day off his job. Jason joins the group on the main floor after putting Trooper back in his office. Other staff filters up from the lower level, from their own cubicles and from their homes. It was time.
6/13/08
Gathering
*Misty keeps her sassy grin on her face hiding the uneasyness underneath. Masking it from all who daired look.*
"I guess...I just wanted to stall alittle bit more."
*Misty steps along side Carson wraping her fingers around his and opeing the door.*
"So let him have our heads. I plane on taking it slow, I am injered after all."
*Misty grin growing, and her eyes continue to dance as they step outside. Stoping for a moment the rays from the sun reflect off Misty, giving her a new shine as she looks back to Carson.*
"I wouldent mind being locked anywhere as long as you were there too."
*Misty starts walking again, the destanation the one place she actully feared going today..TJY.*
*Lockhearts eyes connect with Reese for a moment as a slight shake of pink tints her cheeks thrown off guard by him calling her by her first name. Keeping her smile it grows just alitlte bit as she quickly looking away Lockheart gathers her papers making sure she has everything.*
"Thank you, for giving me this oppertunity to be a part of something bigger than most people can imagen. I've enjoyed my time spent here with you are your staff you are all wonderful people with big and kind hearts. I'm glad I had the joy to get to know you. It was truly an honer."
*Clicking her brefcase shut Lockheart stands straghting out her light grey skirt suit.*
"Shall we see if everyone alse is here now?"
*Katie turns at the sound of Scott's voice and gives alittle smile.*
"I guess sometimes, its just easyer to look knowing that no matter how much you run after it you wont ever get it, than it is to actully go after it and fail"
*Katie gives alittle shake to her head as she trys to whip away the feeling of dispear. Feeling Scott's hand in hers Katie turns her head studing his face for a long moment as he looks to the sky. The feeling of comfort pass over Katie as she feels a new bit of strenth. Scott and Katie would walk together, leaning on eachother for saport. They dident have to face this alone. Turning and walking into TJY Katie gives alittle smile. Feeling Scott close helped make the path on this day alittle less bumpy. Looking to Scott Katie face become somber and her words strong as they walk inside.*
"Hey Scott, in case things dont go well today I just want you to know. You mean alot to me. I've always considered you a friend since when you first picked me up at the airport, but in the last months I've become closer with you, and learned to see a side of you not alot of people have. Just...no matter what dont lose that spark ok."
*Katie stops and brings a hand to Scott's face. Running her finger over his cheek, than his nose as if maping, studying every bump and making. Making a mentil photo. Katie's voice become soft and horse as she whispers.*
"Your so special Scott, and thank you for everything. Dont even change, I love you the way you are."
*In a brefmoment caught between stress, and over flowing emotions Katie puts her arms around Scott and draws him him, brushing his lips aganst his she moves her head so her clips are close to his ear. Her breathing slow, her words soft.*
"I think I've fallen in love with you Scotty."
*Slowly Katie brings her head back and her lips once again touch Scott's lips, the kiss, the emotions matching her words. The sweet tast made Katie's heart race. She dident know what drove her to be so bold, but something told her it was ok, and it just felt right.*
*Nate stands inside on the mainfloor after droping Maggie off at home. Giving Janet instructions on what to do if things go bad today. Nate tryed to stay as positive as he could, though it was hard. Worry for his sister rained over all. Scanning the floor Nate looks to see if Laura made it back yet.*
"Ya just one mouse a day and plenty of water. Yes when he sheads just put him in the cage with water, the beding, and his big rock. His mice are in the freezer. Yeah just let them thaw for a half hour befor feeding it to him. Ok...ya thanks alot Tony. If everything works out I'll let you know. Ok thanks again. Bye."
*Jamie hangs up the phone after talking with her nabore about taking care of Ed. Glancing down at her watch Jamie starts to pace as she waits for Con to show up.*
*Aerith gives a slight wave to Herb and Mable as she exits the restront. Noticing Wyatt isent there yet Aerith sits on the restront step and waits. Alittle bit of time pass as Aerith looks up again only to make out a figure coming down the sidewalk. Not mistaking that it was Frankie, Aerith stands and looks up and down the way for Wyatt before bolting back inside.*
Preparing
Carson resists a little, just out of spite, but finally gives in, returning an energetic kiss. His fingers run through Misty’s hair before moving down her shoulders then around to her back as he lets the exchange continue.
Finally he manages to pull himself away enough to see Misty’s eyes, leaning his forehead against hers. “Despite a warriors strength. Despite all of his might. The one who conquers cannot be stopped. Instead she robs the heart from his very chest to call her own. And so they stand in the battlefield, eye to eye, sword to sword.”
Carson shakes his head, the drama fading from his eyes, replaced by mischief. “I had all night to kiss you, and yet you insist on provoking me on the way out the door. You’re a mean woman, Sassy.”
Touching his fisted knuckles to her chin in a playful tap, he lets her go, sidling back to the door, and bows low. “Melady. If we don’t leave now, Reese will have both our hides.” He quirks an eyebrow. “Not that I would mind being locked in a cell with you again.”
Reese can’t help that his smile spreads as Lockheart speaks. “Well, if there’s anybody I trust to get us out of this, it’s you.” He pauses in thought, then cocks his head slightly. “I want you to know that…if things go sour…if we lose this battle, you are in no way to blame. Now I don’t want to think negatively, but we have to face the facts that we’re up against a lot. But…I admire you for your courage and boldness.”
He gives a little nod. “And even if we all get thrown into prison…we all appreciate and value everything that you’ve done Angelica.”
“You know…staring off into the horizon doesn’t make it come any closer.” Scott ambles up behind Katie in the parking lot, slowly approaching. “You have to chase it.”
His gaze follows hers for a moment, not looking at her face, but at the sky, and the line that was forever out of reach. His hand finds hers with a comforting strength new to his character. “Come on…let’s go win this thing.”
Hal turns on the second van and backs it out of its space to pull around front by the other two vans. They had quite a group going today and would need all three. Keeping it running, he waits.
Baby,Baby,Baby
*As Carson starts to walk away Misty reaches out and grabs Carson's shirt as she feels a bit of pain but ignors it spinning him around and drawing him in close to her.*
"Let me be the one to judge when I am over doing it."
*Drawing Carson closer Misty's lips press aganst Carson's exchanging the passiton. Misty one hand finds the back on his head while the other press agast he back keeping him close to her.*
*Katie smiles and looks at Scott.*
"You were great company I loved listing to your snoring."
*Katie cant help but giggle. than her face turns solam again leting out a nervouse sigh.*
"Ya I guess we are."
*Geting out of the Van at her house Katie waves leting Scott know she would be back later. Heading inside Katie takes another shower and cleans up grabing a bit to eat before heading out again.*
*Lockheart smiles as she enters Reese office and sits down. Though this as hard and the mood was heacy Lockheart tryed to remain positive. For the sake of everyone here she had to.*
"Good Afternoon Reese. I am pretty confadent everything will go ok today. I hardly got any sleep myself writing my plee all night. I have a good foundation, and some information I wasent exspecting that I think will help. This is going to be the biggest case even in the history of my whole career and I know we can win this. Its been a long hard road for you all but its going to end today and everyone will be so much better off. You guys are going to be able to be in the open and stop hiding. Its going to be a might good feeling for you all, and I am excited about helping make that possable."
*Lockheart continues to hold her smile with confadince.*
*Katie parks her car in TJY parking lot. Leting the music play for a moment.*
"I'm not ready to say goodbye....
Everytime I see you cry...
Baby, baby...
I asked to stay one more day...
But they took me away anyway...
And I cryed..and I cryed....
Baby Baby Baby...
I'm not ready to say goodbye..
Cuz I want you..
I need you..
I lov....."
*Katie finally turns the music off as a few tears roll down her cheek. How she couldent wait for this to all be over. Not knowing what was happening next was hard. The fate of herself, and all her friends and loved ones it was hard.
Katie lets out a sigh and gets out of her car Locking the door behind her. Leaning aganst her car Katie scans the parking lot and past the trees, beyound the harizon.Life...what was to happen next.*
would you
A grin twitches at the corner of Carson’s mouth and he moves, placing a hand on the wall on each side of Misty. Bringing his face closer to her, he stares into her eyes. Leaning in, his lips almost touch hers, his breath on her cheek, but he suddenly withdraws, moving away from her back toward the door. “Nah, I don’t want to hurt you. You might overdo it.”
Scott’s ears pop, waking him up, and he winces from a headache. Looking around, he realizes that the plane is descending. Yawning and stretching, he turns his head to see Katie, and picks up her hand to give it a kiss. “I was great company, wasn’t I?” He looks at her with apology, but grins. “I guess we’re about ready to kick some courtroom butt aren’t we.”
A bit of chatter starts up again as the plane circles and lands on the runway. After the plane is stopped and everything set, the group exits, finding a TJY van driven by Wyatt. “Hey, guys!” He stands outside, opening the doors for the group. “How was the trip?”
Conversations are struck up once more as everyone piles into the vehicle. Wyatt makes stops at houses to drop people off at their homes, reminding everyone they only had an hour and a half before they needed to be back to TJY where everyone would travel as a group to the courthouse in the next town over.
Jason opts to go to TJY instead of the apartment, so he stays in the van with Wyatt on the way back, also with Jim and Ty.
It doesn’t take long for people to start filtering back in to work, checking in and making final arrangements before that afternoon.
Reese calls to the knock on the door. “Come in.” Seeing Lockheart, he smiles. “Well…the time has come.” He gestures to an extra chair. “Take a seat and take a load off before we get another load added on.” He shakes his head, giving a little sigh. “Everyone who’s going should be coming back here soon…they’re all as ready as they can be. Sheriff Brown said no one in particular would have to testify unless the judge requested it…we’re just banking on what Brown has already told him, and on what you can present. Brown said that he couldn’t tell how the judge felt after receiving the information he’d already given him, so….” He shrugs, forcing a chuckle, despite the seriousness of the situation. “I guess we got our work cut out for us.”
Jason slowly walks down the sidewalk, Trooper obediently staying by his side. The thought had come to Jason already that if things went sour today, who knew where Trooper would end up. Such a large dog....who was unmanageable by most would most certainly not find a home, and instead, be put down. Jason couldn't imagine that happening...yet he had no control over it.
Though knowing he had to get back to TJY, the longing just to stay away from it all kept him walking just a little further as he headed towards downtown.
A jogging figure comes up the opposite side of the street. Her bright green tanktop and shorts make her hard to miss, and earphones accent her head. As she glances across the street, she spots Jason and after looking both ways, she crosses over, slowing to a walk. Taking her earphones out, she grins. "Well hi there."
Jason pauses his walk, offering Camryn somewhat of a smile. "We've got to quit meeting like this."
"I know it. Sometime it ought to be planned."
Jason gives her a slight smirk at the implication. "Little warm for a jog."
"Yeah..." Camryn is still trying to catch her breath. "But I overslept so I didn't get it in this morning when I wanted to." She cocks her head. "The heat apparently didn't keep you away either." Reaching down, she offers a hand to Trooper, and after receiving his sniff and lick of approval, she scratches his head.
"Nah, he needed out." Jason shrugs. He's quiet for a moment, not really sure where this conversation should head.
Camryn straightens and studies his face. "You look like you lost your best friend."
Jason raises his eyebrows, finding it interesting that a saying could be that close to the truth. "Oh...maybe I did...or perhaps I'm going to." Thinking for a few seconds, an idea pops into his head. It was ridiculous, but he was desperate at this point. "Hey, you like Trooper here, don't you?"
"He's gorgeous." Camryn nods.
"There's a chance that after today I won't be able to keep him," Jason states bluntly.
Camryn's eyebrows shoot up. "Are you asking me what I think you're asking?"
"Probably."
"Well...what's going to happen today?"
"Look, it's got to do with my job. There's a big court hearing today and...no one can even try predicting the results. Hopefully it will change nothing...but there's a chance that I won't be coming back."
"Wow." Camryn grows more serious, sensing that this was no laughing matter. "I guess...I guess I'd say I'd take him, but I'm in apartment where I can't have pets."
Jason sighs. "It was worth a try."
"I do have an uncle who lives outside of town though," Camryn suggests. "He's got a farm and he's got five dogs already...I could ask him...knowing him, he'd much rather take Trooper than see him go to the pound."
Hope flickers in Jason's eye. "That would be great. If...if things don't turn out well, this afternoon, I'm going to have someone bring Trooper to the park. If your uncle can take him, could you, or your uncle yourself meet him there?"
Camryn's concern increases, but she nods. "You're being pretty mysterious, but for some reason I trust you."
"Thank you, Camryn." Jason nods, grateful. "Trooper can be a brute, but he doesn't deserve the pound."
..
*Backed up aganst the door Misty looks up at Carson the fire in her eyes dance and shinning through She spunky grin on her face.*
"Mmmm...Maybe you should, Dont let a moment pass you by if you got it right. I think I might like it though."
*Misty's grin stays and gives Carson a wink.*
*Wes returns the handshake to his step son. He himself was sad to see him go before he should show Jason the last saprise he had but Wes new there would be more time to show him later on. Smileing Wes breaks the hand shake.*
"You take care of yourself . Make sure you stop by again soon."
*Lockheart gets out of her car and makes her way inside to TJY alot on her mind. She had a lote of peoples lives in her hands and if she failed today she would be destroying not only her career but many others as well. Trying to keep her mind clear Lockheart makes her way across the main floor to Reese's office and knocks on the door waiting to enter.*
*Nate wraps his arm around Laura as Maggis leans on his other arm. Smiling down at the both Nate hoped today would turn out ok. God had giving him his second chanse and now that he had a tast of it, he was not ready to let it go again. Leaning his head back and closing his eye Nate soon drifts off.
Siting next to Scott Katie looks over feeling his hand losen around her. Seeing he was fast asleep Katie remind her hand and places it in his lap. Still siting next to him Katie stairs blankly ahead. She was exsausted but couldent sleep her mind was on to many thing. So in sted she just choose to get lost in thought.*
Going home
Carson's jaw drops. "Did you just threaten me?" He finishes with his socks and grabs his tennis shoes, slipping them on without untying the laces.
Getting up, he saunters with his arms crossed, and backs Misty up against the door. "If you're gonna tackle the crap out of me when you're all healed up, then maybe I should take advantage of the moment I've got now."
Wyatt watches Aerith to make sure she get inside okay before pulling away and heading back around to TJY. Reese is still in the backseat, and cocks his head to see his son's face in the rearview mirror. "So I guess you like her."
Wyatt throws him a little smirk. "What gave you that idea?"
Reese chuckles. "Well, so do I. You didn't ask my opinion, but I think she's worth it."
"Worth what?"
"The effort."
"Me too." Wyatt shifts gears as he pulls away from a stop sign. "So what about you, Dad? I haven't seen you looking for anybody special."
"Me?" Reese laughs. "You haven't asked me that in years."
"That's not an answer."
Reese is quiet for a moment, and shakes his head, still grinning. "Who wants a worn out, old workaholic like me?"
Wyatt looks up into the mirror, but doesn't say any more. He knows his dad better than that.
Getting back to TJY, Reese makes a beeline for his office, knowing that Lockheart would be here any time.
Jason accepts Katie's hug, and returns one that's a bit awkward. He just hadn't figure out yet how to do that with her anymore. But he knows what she wants from him, the simplicity of it, and he's willing to at least try.
As Katie returns and takes Scott's hand, he gives it a little squeeze to let her know he understands, and he goes with her outside to get into the van.
Lingering just a moment, Jason sees his mom and Wes, and though hating to break up their embrace, he has to leave, and knows his mom would want a goodbye. Moving towards them, he's glad when they separate on their own, though stick close to each other, bidding the others farewell.
Coming up from behind, Jason puts a hand on Cindy's shoulder.
Turning quickly, Cindy smiles up at him, and puts her hand to the side of his face. "Take care of yourself, Jason."
"I will."
Cindy reaches out for a hug, and Jason gives in, giving her a tight embrace. "You too, eh? I want that little brother or sister of mine to be okay."
Cindy beams as she withdraws. "Okay."
Jason puts out his hand to Wes, initiating their final handshake. "Wes. Make sure she does take care of herself...I guess that's not my job anymore." Though melancholy is there, his statement is filled with more satisfaction than before. He's settled on the fact that his mom is married and that all is well.
Breaking apart from them, Jason grabs his backpack that's waiting by the door, and heads out. Stepping off the porch, he hears his name and turns to see Jade off to the side. He ambles up to her slowly.
Jade gives him a smile. "Don't be a stranger."
"Mm - that's a hard request."
Jade just shakes her head. "I think you're gonna be all right."
"I hope so."
"You're a fighter, Jason... you will be."
Jason gives her arm a pat before turning to leave. "Take it easy, Jade."
"Always."
The last one left is Jim, who his being embraced by Becky, who just doesn't want to let him go. "It'll be okay," he whispers. "I promise."
"Come back to me, Jim..."
"I will." Jim's words display more confidence than he felt. "I'll be back." Pulling away, he gives his wife a lingering kiss before brushing away her tears with his hand. Forcing a smile, he lets her go and backs away before turning and jogging to the door to catch up with the others.
After the van is gone, though there are still many people left, somehow the mess hall seems quiet. Becky begins to clean up the breakfast tables to keep herself busy, and some of the guys start to disperse for their work. They would be gathering again soon enough to watch the court proceedings.
The ride to the plane seems all too fast, and before anybody knows it, they're in the air again, aiming for Nevada. Laura leans over to rest her head on Nate's shoulder, not physically tired, but emotionally exhausted.
Jim settles in next to Ty and they converse some, exchanging questions and finding out more about each other.
Jim grins a little. "So...girl? Car? Own place?"
Ty laughs a little. "No, no, and no." He looks down at his hands. It was easier to admit now, but still something that embarrassed him. "Kinda hard to get any of those things when a guy doesn't know how to read or write."
Jim lifts his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Yeah." Ty focuses out the window on a fluffy cloud. "Dropped out of school 'cause I just kept failing... tried off and on to learn... Katie offered to help, but so much happened and I guess I chickened out."
Jim shakes his head. "Well, I bet if you tried hard enough, you'd get there." He quirks a grin. "You're too much like your father." Receiving a bewildered look, he nods. "That's right. I had trouble with that too."
"You did?"
"Yep."
"Well how did you...how did you learn?"
"I wanted things bad enough that I buckled down and did it."
Ty thinks for a moment, letting the subject fade away as he sinks back in his seat. He was starting to find out why he was the way he was...and though it didn't solve anything, it maybe helped him understand... maybe getting to know Jim wasn't so bad after all.
Scott leans his head back in his seat and the plane has hardly leveled out when his eyes are already closed. His hand is around Katie's but the conversations around him go unheard as his exhaustion finally has its way.
Jason sits near the back, away from most of the others. He wanted to sleep, but his mind was too busy. There were a lot of unknowns right now...a lot of questions...a lot of fear. He glances around at the others... Con and Jamie...Nate, Laura and Maggie...Scott and Katie..even Jim and Ty. Was it Jason who made himself a loner, or was it the way people naturally reacted to him?
Away
*Misty takes a sidelong glance at Carson a smerk on her face a teasing in her tone.*
"Mmm...could it be the hole in my stomach thats slowing me down alittle bit? Its probley a good thing to or I would of tackles the crap out of your right now."
*Slowly Misty stands and goes to the front door puting her shoes on a grabing her purse and stands at the door taping her foot.*
"And who is waiting for who? I seem to be ready and you have yet to get your shoes on."
*Aerith smiles as they pull up to the restront thankful to pass the time with work to keep her mind occupied.*
"I am sure he will. If I dident know Herb was such a big teddy bear he would scair the crap out of me. Just how he scans the people that come into the restront that he dosent know."
*Smile as she receves Wyatt's kiss she gives his hand one last squeeze.*
"It was nice meeting you Reese. Thank again for shairing your time with me yesterday. I'll see you both around twelve."
*Aerith gets out of the car and heads to the restront giving one last wave before heading inside ready to start the day.*
*Wes stands his Wife hand in his felling it tighten and knowing the weaght on her shoulders. Cindy and Wes had become one and now that pain she bore so did he that was one of the means of shairing there bond of man and wife. Wes own hand tightens alittle trying to show his wife unspoken comfort. A amen sliping from his lips here and there as the praying continues. Finally when it ends Wes wraps his arms around Cindy just holding her till finally they make there way to the door to see everyone off.
Katie first gives Scott a hug. Though he was going with her she still felt far away, than she moves seeing Jason standing alone. Today no one should be alone, or feel along. Giving alittle nod to Scott trying to relay that she makes her way over to Jason. Looking him in the eyes her friendship shows through.*
"May I?"
*Katie holds out her arms and leans in to give Jason a hug not leting it linger to long. Drawing away than Rosetta makes her way to Mick and Rosetta giving them both big bear hugs. A tear in her eyes.*
"I'll see you guys again soon."
*Drawing away Katie resumes her spot with Scott puting her hand in his and making her way out the door.
Jamie holds Con for a long while just leting the quiet of the room sarround them. Finally breaking free Jamie Says her goodbyes to everyone alse and heads out.
One by one not wanting to but knowing they had to everyone makes there way out the door and to the Van. Continueing to say there goodbyes, and leting there tears show no matter how strong they are. Nate slings his arm around Laura and Maggies shoulders leading them to the van and geting in.*
Waiting
Carson smirks at Misty and gets into the bathroom quickly, the sound of the shower coming on almost immediately. In less than ten minutes, he's back out again, tossing his dirty clothes into his bedroom. Heading to the living room, his bare feet scuff on the floor and he plops down at the other end of the couch from Misty, leaning over to put on his socks. "So you ready to go or what? What's taking you so long?"
Wyatt smiles and nods. "Alright. If everything goes well today, we can talk with Jamie about it and see what she says."
Finishing up breakfast, all too soon, the three are out the door and on their way downtown. It doesn't take them long before Wyatt pulls up to the curb in front of the restaurant. "If anything happens...if Frankie shows up....just be sure to let Herb know - he'll scare the living daylights out of Frankie."
Ignoring the fact that his father is in the back, Wyatt leans over and gives Aerith's cheek a kiss. "I'll be back at twelve-thirty to pick you up."
The power of the prayers can be felt in the room by those who believe in them. God was at work here. That much was clear. No matter the outcome..He was in control and it was obvious.
Clint holds hands with Wendy on one side, and his father on the other. He listens to the prayers, intrigued by the faith he heard. He'd been joining everyone for church for months now, but still hadn't really decided that God was something he needed. But today...in this place...something stirred in his heart. He remembers for a brief moment when he'd seen Mick baptized, and witnessed the change in his life. That had been real. This here...these people's hearts, and their faith...it was real. And for once...Clint felt timid. There was an unexplainable presence here, and it was bigger than he.
Jason's hands are locked with his mother's, and with his grandfather's. The prayers going on around him were not foreign... he was around prayer all the time. JetStream always had a prayer before a performance, and Jason had learned that the other guys felt it was important, so he simply respected their beliefs. His mother had always prayed...and so he'd always just remained quiet, letting her do her thing.
Was something different today? It felt...odd. Like there was something, or someone in the room that could not be seen or touched. There was a presence...and it made a chill run down Jason's spine. But he keeps his eyes lowered to the floor, unable to help but wonder how long they would remain in prayer. He was glad to see others here had faith in something, but as far as he was concerned, it wasn't worth the time.
A silent tear trickles down the side of Cindy's face as her grip tightens around Wes' hand. She could feel her son in her other hand, but it lacked the warmth of a believer. She knew that Jason believed there was a God, but had never acknowledged him as Lord. She knew that he'd heard the stories of Jesus, but had never accepted Him as his Savior. And right now...today...on a day when no one knew what was going to happen, Cindy felt that burden. She wouldn't know how to bear it, if Jason were to be put back in prison, or even put to death without having known Christ.
As the audible prayers continue, her own continues in her head, not only for today...but for her son as well.
"Father..." Sparky's words rise, his spiritual leadership here evident. "You're here...and we know it. For when two or three are gathered in Your name, there You will be also. And we can't thank You enough for that promise. We feel lost...but we know we're not alone, and that's what brings us comfort." He pauses, the emotions rigid in his voice. "Today is as big day...no matter the outcome, the fight is far from over as we continue to battle our earthly enemies. But if it is within Your will, we pray for success...for with that success comes glory to Your name, and the chance for us to continue this fight, and be witnesses for You."
Silence reigns for several minutes until others pray aloud, the emotions hanging thick in the air. And finally Con closes.
"You've heard our cries, Lord. You've heard our pleas. And we know that You care. What more can be said? Guide us. Comfort us. Show us Your will. Above all things, we love You. And it's in Your Son's precious name we pray...amen." Letting go of Jamie's hand, he draws her into a hug.
Jason can feel an extra squeeze from his mother's hand, but then is left alone, surrounded by everyone, almost all of them, having been touched or moved in some way. What was it? Why was it? He didn't understand it.
Cindy leans into Wes' arm, her sadness still there, but her worry beginning to diminish.
As people begin to interact again, Austin hates his job. "I'm sorry guys," he speaks a little loudly. "But the plane is waiting."
Power of Praying
*Misty slaps Carson's arm at his comment before walking past him. A smile on her lips.*
"Well if you think you can do it faster than get in there. I'll be keeping track of how long it takes you."
*Misty throws her dirty cloths into her backpack and plops down on the coutch to wait for Carson glancing at the clock every once and a while.*
*Aerith smiles and nods thankful for Wyatt and Reese offers and there understandment on the situation. It made Aerith feel good, and safe to have people looking out for her. *
"Ok, just let me know. I've met Jamie before but not Misty. Thats your cousand you were talking about? I think I would feel more comfortable with Jamie though just cuz I have met her before. If she has room for me that is. and yes I still would like to come this afternoon if thats ok still as well."
*Aerith offers a small smile as she finishs up her breakfest*
*Katie continues to chat with Scott and Jason trying to keep the conversation light. Katie can apreshate that both the boys are trying to make it easy on her and at least it was a start.
Jamie looks to Con and smiles.*
"Lets hope its more than a few years. But if the boy turns out anything like his Uncles Rosetta is gonna have to beat the girls away with a stick."
* Jamie turns to Con giving him another kiss.*
"However your still better looking."
*Rosetta smiles as she returns Mick's kiss.*
"Good as long as you dont tire of them I wont."
*As Sparky speaks the room stands. Pushing the tables and chairs out of the way hands are joined as the heavy heads become one. Lifting this burden and pain up to God. Eyes are closed and for a long while its silent everyone saying there own person prayer. Finally Rosetta is the first to speak.*
"Dear heavenly father, we life our hearts up to you. At this time our loved ones will be leaving to head to the court, and try to win this for us. With you by there side I know its going to be ok. You will let happen what you see fit. We only pray that you will help Lockheart Be strong. Give her the words to speak, and give the judge the ears to hear and do whats right. In Jesus name."
*Rosetta draws silent and Katie is the next to speak.*
"Dear Lord, I know I am still new at this all but I also know you love me just as much as you do everyone alse in this room. Whatever happens today its in your hands. I just ask you calm our hearts and let us see this is your will."
*Rosetta looks to her neace fast and smiles. How far she had come in the last year. Rosetta was happy to see her grow. Closing her eyes again Rosetta wait to listen to the rest of the prayers. Still lifting up her own silent prayers still.*
Circle
Carson ambles to his room to gather some clean clothes as he waits for the bathroom. Tilting his head, he can hear Misty singing, and a trace of a grin creeps onto his face.
Going into the hall, he waits so when Misty emerges, he's leaned up against the wall across from the door, his arms folded over his chest. "Ahh...now I know why you women take so long in the bathroom. You spend all your time singing."
Wyatt nods in agreement to taking Aerith directly to work. "Alright. Then if you still want to come this afternoon, I'll swing by and pick you up."
Listening to her wishing she did have somewhere else to go, Wyatt lowers his eyes to his breakfast plate. The offer he wanted to give just wouldn't be appropriate and he knew it.
Reese glances over to his son, knowing what was going through his mind, and sympathizing with him. Aerith was a nice girl, and Wyatt had told him about her troubles with another guy. Reese felt badly as well, knowing it would probably be best for her to find somewhere else to stay, at least while Frankie was around. "I wonder if somebody like Jamie would like a roommate," he ponders aloud.
Wyatt quirks an eyebrow. He'd thought of Laura and Katie, but they didn't have a whole lot more room. He could always ask Jamie...or even Misty...that is...if everything went well today. "We're going to find you another place," he states flatly. "Whether it's with someone we know, or we find a hotel. I don't want you staying at your grandmother's if Frankie is still on the loose." Wyatt still remembered the look in the other man's eye, and it was not something he cared to see again. "If we can't find something by tonight, we'll figure something temporary out."
Jason gives a dry smile in response to the thought of sitting with the others. He wasn't so sure he could help carry on much of a conversation here either, but right about now, probably the wisest thing to do would be relent. Scott was obviously making an effort to smooth things over, and Katie desperately wanted the tension gone. Sitting with them for a little while really was the least Jason could do.
Finally giving in, Jason sets himself down across from Katie.
Scott returns Katie's hand squeeze, starting to feel better about Jason. He was confident of the way Katie felt about him, so there was no need to feel threatened by Jason's presence.
Con laughs at BJ and shakes his head. "Just you wait...in a few years you're gonna find a girl to kiss too." Looking back at Jamie, he gives her a little wink before drawing her in for a tight hug. He was worried about today...but he wasn't going to let it show.
Mick grins at Rosetta. "What? Are you implying that I'm put off by kissing?" he teases. "Last I looked, that certainly wasn't the case." To prove it, he leans in and plants a kiss on her lips. Still grinning, he cocks his head. "Mm...yeah, that wasn't too bad at all."
As breakfast proceeds, the conversations that filter through the room are filled with laughter, despite the dark cloud that loomed over their day. Their very livelihoods hung in the balance, but no one wanted to bring it up, for fear of becoming even more worried than they already were.
The clock ticks away the minutes, and though the time to leave for the Nevada group drew near, the pace was slow as they wished to prolong their stay. But no man can slow the hands of time.
"Since we've got everyone together..." Sparky stands up, speaking loudly to get everyone's attention. "I know that only some of you are heading back to Nevada...but what happens today will affect all of us. Everything we know and love is at stake, whether we like it or not. And...right now, if we all could stand up and join hands, I'd like to have a prayer circle. We may not be able to control what goes on today, but the best thing we can do is talk to the One who IS in control."

So Small
*Misty shuts the door behind her and turns the water on. Alot was going through her mind, she had never been one to worry to much but today she was. Life had changed alot for her and now the thought of going to jail and being in that court room scaired her to no end.
Standing in the warm water Misy lets is wast over her as a toon and hum escaps her lips being drawn into thoughts.*
"What you got if you ain't got love
the kind that you just want to give away
It's okay to open up
go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it's hard on a rainy day
you want to shut the world out and just be left alone
But don't run out on your faith.
Cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand
What you've been up there searching for
forever is in your hands
When you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else seem so small.
It's so easy to get lost inside
a problem that seems so big at the time
it's like a river thats so wide
it swallows you whole
While you sit around thinking about what you can't change
and worrying about all the wrong things
time's flying by
moving so fast
you better make it count 'cause you can't get it back.
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand....."
*Misty words muffle to the sound of gargling as her face goes under the water . The water shuts off, and Misty pulles the shower curtin back. Drying off and throwing her clean clothing off. Misty also drys her hair and throws it on top of her head. Opening the bathroom door and stuping out so Carson can use it next.*
*Aerith makes her way into the kitchen pushing her wet hair out of her face. Taking a wiff of breakfest her tummy rummbles. Biting into her waffles she cant help but saver the tast. Homemade tasted so much better than frozen.
Aerith thinks about Wyatt's question for a moment before answering. She had had so much fun that she really hadent thought about the whole ordeal with Frankie since the morning. Now her mind went back to when she though she saw the guestroom door open in her grandmother house and it gave her chills.*
"You can take me right to work. I dont need anything alse that I can think of at the moment anyways."
*Drawing silent again for a moment Aerith sighs taking another bit of her breakfest. How she did wish she had somewhere alse to stay.*
"I dont know anyone alse except for my Grandmother around here who has space for another person. I guess I could always stay at a hotel or go back to New York. I'd rather go to a hotel before the other option. I'm not quiet ready to leave yet. I've got to many reasons to stay..."
*Aerith's eyes look up and meets Wyatts. How fast she had felt drawn to him. Like a magnet pulling metal. Wyatt was differnt, strong and shaired her love for God. Aerith loved the arua he had around him.*
"...even if a crazy guy is after me."
*Katie smiles as she receves Jason's grin. It was good to see that. Than hearing his comment or his bit of humor makes her laugh. It was nice to see that light. It was faint but it was there non the less.*
"You better believe is buddy, and dont you forget it."
*A new found hope that Jason was slowly be ok fills Katie heart as she follows in into the messhall. Seeing Scott wave and call her ove Katie smiles and sits down.*
"I dont think I am tired one bit so I dont know what your talking about."
*Katie cant help but laugh alittle as her eyes tell a differnt story about being tired. As Katie hears Scott's request for Jason to stay she is a bit saprised but fells a bit of happyness that Scott was trying. Giving his hand squeeze Katie looks back to Jason and gives alittle nod showing it was ok with her.*
"Yes please feel free to join us. I think it would be nice to have you join us for breakfest. Unless you would rather join the growps for there intresting conversation."
*Katie giggles again and rolls her eyes.*
*As BJ hang upside down his squeels of laughter finally stop as he cross his arms over his little chest.*
"Onwey if you and Jamie is going to eat now too. You guys need your stwanth so you can be strong wike me."
*BJ makes a muscle with his arm as he still hands upside down.
Coming up infront of BJ Jamie takes his head and brings him upright as Con still had his legs. A smile on her face.*
"Con your going to give the poor boy brain damage."
*Jamie cant help but hold BJ close as she draws close to Con BJ stuck in the middle for a hug. Jamie leans into give Con a kiss losing her grip slightly on BJ.
As BJ see Jamie give Con a kiss he wiggles a funny look in his face. Finally sliping to the ground BJ goes running into the other room.*
"EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW........THEY ARE KISSING!"
*After a few moments BJ reapears his little eyes peeking out from behind the door.*
"Is it safe to come out yet?"
*Jamie cant help but laugh at BJ's display.
Rosetta turns leaning into Mick and laughs as BJ goes running into the other room, and than he little head and eyes reapear.*
"He acts just like you Mick."
