*Misty laughs and enjoys the meal, keeping up with the conversation and cracking jokes along with Kyle. It felt nice to converse with them. Misty hadn't seen her own grandparents in so long that it felt nice to see someone alses.
Once the meal is over and Gram starts to clear the table , Misty gets up as well. Taking some of the plates to the sink to help Gram out Misty returns to the table to gather the rest of the dishes. Her eyes go to the way where Kyle disapears Misty smiles replying to Gram.*
"He sure is, he sure is."
*Giving a shake of her head Misty continues to clear the table. The truth was Misty did think Kyle was special. He had helped her out, and had comforted her alot over the last weeks. Misty hadent exspected this at all and the feelings they had grown, and continued to grow and she liked it. Kyle was so differnt, and so full of life, Misty found it nice and refreshing.
As Misty slowly follows Gram into the living room she smiles seeing Kyle asleep. He looks at peace and thats what mattered. Glancing down at her watch Misty notes the time and decieds to let him sleep for a little bit. Misty found it a bit funny, she had alot less sleep than Kyle yet he was the one sleeping. Shaking her head Misty pulls a small medicle book from her purse and starts reading it.*
~*~About an hour later~*~
"Kyle...its time to wake up...Kyle...we have the consert in an hour..come on get up."
*Misty gently shakes Kyle trying to roust him. It was a little have three and they had to meet the other at 4.*
*Katie makes her way down the steps to the basment of TJY where she new Jason would be. Coming down the hall Katie's voice can be hurd.*
"J...A...S...O..*claps* J...A...S...O..*claps* J...A...S...O *claps* and Jason was his name-o."
*Katie jumps into the room and than stops seening Con standing next to Jason. Her face grows a soft shade of red as she raises her hand and gives a wave.*
"Hello Big Brother. How ya doin?"
*Coming over to both of the guys Katie clears the throat and trys to compose herself. Looking two both the men. A small grin surfices on Katie face.*
"Very nice. Ok..so do you have a lay out of this place J?"

Name-o
Preparations
Kyle just grins as Misty drives, not giving her any hits, but directing her to the far corner of town to a little residential area. Making several turns that seem to take them everywhere but nowhere, finally Kyle points to a little yellow house. It's a one-story house with a well-kept yard and flowers out front.
Kyle directs Misty to park in the driveway, and he gets out, waiting for Misty to follow. Taking her hand again, he leads her up to the small porch and opens the screen door, knocking loudly on the inside door. He throws Misty another sidelong glance with a wink, remaining silent.
Finally footsteps are heard, and a thin, elderly woman opens the door cautiously. Peeking around the corner, she sees Kyle and her face lights up. Swinging the door open wider, she smiles. "Kyle Hayden, you know good and well you don't have to knock!"
Kyle's grin spreads as he receives an enthusiastic hug. "Hey, Gram."
She steps back and looks at him sternly. "Your brother told me about that voice of yours. You should be eating a hot bowl of soup then going to bed."
Kyle shakes his head, his eyes twinkling with laughter. He then brings Misty closer. "Gram, this is Misty Miller."
The woman's face stays just as warm as she takes Misty's hand in her own. "I'm so glad to finally meet you, Misty. My name's Ellie, but since I'm Kyle's grandma you can just call me Gram like everyone else does." She chuckles and looks between the two. "Have you had lunch after church?"
Kyle shakes his head.
Gram smirks. "Well for pity sake come on in here. I was just getting your grandfather some lunch. Of course, it's just leftover fried chicken from last night."
Kyle steps into the house behind her, bringing Misty with him. He looks over at her and raises his eyebrows, signaling that he knew good and well that's what would be here, and it was well worth the drive.
Getting to the small kitchen, they're greeted again by Kyle's grandfather, who stands up from the table. "Well hi there, Kyle. What brings you around here?"
Kyle shrugs and grins, glancing toward Gram who was getting the food ready.
Gramps laughs and shakes his head. "Always food. And who do we have here with you?"
Kyle's smile widens as he presents Misty. "Gramps, Misty, Misty, Gramps."
Gramps offers a strong handshake, despite his elderly frame. "It's certainly nice to meet you, Misty. Come on here and make yourself at home. Us two lonely folks enjoy a bit of company once in a while." He looks over to Kyle with a teasing wink. "Some people don't come often enough."
Kyle sighs and nods. "I know, I know."
Gram turns around and sets down a plate of hot fried chicken. "Well set yourselves down now. Kyle, what do you want to drink? We have water...iced tea..."
After a prayer for the meal, lunch is kept lively with chatter from the two older people, Kyle intervening with a few words, though mostly gestures and facial expressions that make both his grandparents laugh, and he includes Misty as much as possible. He eats a little bit, knowing that he really didn't feel like it...food really wasn't the reason he came, but he wasn't going to disappoint his grandmother.
As the meal is finished up and the last of the chicken is gone, Gram gets up and starts clearing the table. "Oh, Kyle, since you're here..."
Kyle looks to Misty, a grin twitching his mouth, showing he knew what was coming.
"...there's that lightbulb in the hall that Gramps and I can't reach...you wouldn't mind changing that, would you?"
Kyle finishes his iced tea, ensuring he didn't show how much swallowing hurt right now. Standing up, he knows where to go, heading to a nearby cupboard where the lightbulbs were kept. Drawing a new one out, he twirls it in his hand and slides out of the kitchen with style, again bringing laughter to his grandmother.
Gram shakes her head and starts to clear the dishes. "That boy..." She grins at Misty. "He's something else, isn't he."
Kyle easily switches out the lightbulb, knowing full well that his job was not done. His grandparents could still survive on their own, but there were little things that they just couldn't do anymore. Except for the lightbulb, neither asked Kyle directly to do anything...they didn't want to take advantage of him being there. But a hint was all Kyle needed to step in.
For the next hour it was smoke alarm batteries, squeaky door hinges, a leaky bathroom sink, a shower curtain rod that had fallen down, a stain on the hallway rug, a chest of drawers that needed to be moved, and a tv remote that needed reprogramming.
Not once did Kyle let either of his grandparents see how worn out he was, or even admit to them how sick he'd been just hours before. There were other reasons he'd come today that he wasn't willing to sacrifice.
Finished with the last task though, he sinks down into a living room chair. He's a bit sweaty, his shirt sleeves rolled up, his face a little flushed. His eyes hold almost a glazed look, the exhaustion just too much.
"Kyle, I was just talking with your grandfather, and we'd..." Gram's words trail off as she enters the living room and sees her grandson in the chair.
Kyle's head has shifted down to is own shoulder, his steady breathing showing that he'd just drifted off to sleep, despite his efforts to stay awake.
Gram gets a gentle smile on her lips, and lets her statement go.
"Doesn't he have a thing with the band tonight?" Gramps asks.
"Oh, let him sleep," Gram chides. "That family event isn't until later."
Neither mind a bit that Misty is there, acccepting her as any family member, offering her to make herself at home. By two-thirty, the house is quiet. Gramps had fallen asleep in the den. Gram was reading a book on the screened-in back porch.
Kyle wakes himself up coughing once, but is too groggy to move. Though he was getting a crick in his neck, he didn't even bother shifting positions. Squinting lamely at the clock on the wall, he notes the time, and reminds himself that he can't stay here much longer. But...he was...so...tired...
"Come on, Kyle, where are you?" Phil hangs up his phone for the fifth time, rolling his eyes.
"Still get his voicemail?" Mike asks.
"Yeah." Phil sighs. "I called TJY, Rick said he hadn't seen hide nor hair of Kyle or Misty... I saw them take off from church earlier and figured they'd go out to eat, but they should have been back by now."
Jen thinks for a moment, the three of them in Mike's living room before preparing to leave later that afternoon. "Think he went to Gramp's and Gram's?"
"I wouldn't think so...not with the event tonight and how they can keep someone around for hours." Phil grins, remembering the last time they all had been there. "Besides, if he wasn't feeling the greatest, I doubt he would have gone."
"Well, you said he didn't need to help load up," Jen reminds. "He just needs to meet us there at four."
"I guess. What do you think about him and Misty?"
Jen quirks an eyebrow at her brother. "Is it my business to think anything?"
Phil shrugs. "I was just wondering."
"Why? Something wrong?"
"No..." Phil leans back in the couch, tapping his foot on the floor. "I just...I don't now. I guess it just surprised me was all."
"What, that Kyle could like a girl?"
"Maybe...I mean, he's been around a lot of girls, just never...serioius, I guess."
"Well, do you think he's all that serious about Misty?"
Phil laughs. "Have you looked at him lately? Try teasing him. But be read to get your head bit off."
Jen giggles. "So what's wrong with that? Misty's a great woman...I like her...she's a nice friend."
"Oh, I like her too. I just hope..."
Jen sighs. "Just spit it out, Phil."
"I just hope he's not headed for heartache, that's all."
"Why would he be?"
"I don't know. Forget I said anything." Phil stands up and looks to Mike. "Ready to start packing up?"
"You bet."
"So we've got these here..." Jason gestures to the gun case. "I told Katie what I'd be organizing...Wyatt seemed okay with it...I think Nate will be too."
Con scans the weapons, one eyebrow raised. "When did these come in?"
"Elite issued."
"I see." Con glances around he downstairs room, feeling just a little bit odd. It had been a long time since he'd been down here, let alone been involved in any kind of case or security at all. "Reese care that I was helping out?"
Jason throws him a smirk. "Why should he? You got two good eyes. That's all we need."
"I suppose." Con reaches down to pick up a firearm. For a brief moment, he gets a flashback of the last man he'd killed out of anger, and he inwardly cringes. "So what kind of gig is this tonight anyway?" Hearing nothing, he turns with question to Jason.
Jason had already answered him. "I said it's a family night."
"Oh."
Jason cocks his head. "Hows that ear doing?"
Con shrugs. "Doesn't give me any trouble other than not working."
It was meant to be a silly remark, but Jason doesn't laugh. "You miss being around here?"
"Yeah." Con's response is quick, as he doesn't even have to think about it.
"You know Reese would love to have you back."
"At what? A desk?" Con shakes his head. "Why do you think I got a job with a construcion company? So I could be out doing something. I don't know...would be nice to work around Jamie again though."
Jason lets the subject drop, seeing that his friend was a bit bothered by it all. "Alright, anyway, so now I'm just waiting for Katie to get here to kinda straighten things out with her and then we're off."
Con lifts an eyebrow. "How are you two getting along?"
"Good." Jason nods. "Real good. We're um...well, we're real good friends, Con."
"You two happy with that?"
Jason thinks for a moment, then nods again. "Yeah. She and Scott are doing well, and I like it that she and I can be friends again."
"Straighten out your differences?"
"I think so... it's a little hard sometimes since we can read each other so well, but...yeah...she's a good friend, and I trust her."
Con studies Jason for a moment.
Jason lifts an eyebrow. "What?"
"Just friends?"
Jason throws him a look. "Con...the past is over. Yes...Katie and I are just friends. And I like it that way. Do any more ridiculous hinting and I'll start teasing you about wearing a ball and chain."
"Hey now..." Con defends. "I'd hardly describe Jamie that way."
Jason grins. "Neither would I. Nervous?"
"Like you wouldn't believe."
Jason laughs and shakes his head. "Good. Keeps you on your toes."
Your Family
*Once getting to the church and Kyle takes Misty's hand she feels a bit more at ease. It had been a long time since she had stepped foot into a church and she couldn't help but be a little nervouse.
Entering Misty smiles and greet people as they come up to Kyle and herself. Trying her best not to let her nervouseness show.
Taking Kyle's hand again Misty follows him though the church and the soft music his her ears as they find there seat. Seeing Mick and Phil up on the stage Misty's smile grows a little. Leaning over to Kyle she whispers.*
"Well at least they are getting warmed up for tonight."
*Turning her attachen back to the front Misty trys her best to sing along with the songs though she dosent know many of the words she does the best she can.
Keeping her attachen to the front Misty listens. As the service draws on and she listens to the preacher Misty understands what he is say, she had hurd it before, but this time rehearing it seemed to help her understand a little bit more.As the serman comes to an end and the voice rings out Misty looks twords were it was coming from another smile spreading across her face.*
"Your sister voice is amazing. Your whole family is talinted Kyle."
*Misty listens to the song and it send a ping to her heart. It was differnt, and it felt good, it was almost like a blanket on a cold day.
Once exiting the church and following Kyle's direction Misty's mind wonders. Where were they going? If she was to guess it would be normaly Mom and Pop's but this wasent the way there, this was a way she never went before. *
"Where are you taking me Kyle Mitts? I would say your kidnapping me, but I'm the one driving."
*Misty smiles sweetly as she looks at Kyle and than draws her attachen back to the road following Kyle's directions.*
Church
Kyle grins, a little bit of color coming to his cheeks. He eyes Misty, his gaze telling her quite clearly that he could say the same thing about her. Planting a kiss on her forehead, he brings her into a hug before pulling away.
Going back to his backpack, he pulls out his truck keys, but then hesitates. He really didn’t feel like driving, nor did he think he should this morning with the shape he was in.
Looking to Misty, then back at his keys, he puts them back in his bag, signaling that he was going to let her do the driving.
They’re out of TJY later than planned, and as Kyle directs Misty to his church, he figures they will get there just as the service is starting. It was alright with him though…getting there a little later would help him avoid too many questions about why his hand was bandaged in a brace. He’d opted not to use his sling this morning, but there were enough people that knew him well, that he’d still get plenty of unwanted attention if given the opportunity.
Arriving at the church, the parking lot is full of cars, and it takes a few minutes to find a space. Getting out, Kyle takes Misty’s hand to walk her inside, knowing that she might not feel the most comfortable, but not making a big deal out of it either.
Once inside, they’re greeted with enthusiasm by a couple other people. Kyle does his best with introductions, though most know about his voice and do most of the talking, welcoming Misty with smiles and warm handshakes.
Music filters out of the sanctuary, and Kyle leads the way across the foyer into the larger room. Slipping in through the doors in the back, he scans for a place for him and Misty to sit. The worship time has already begun.
The Lord reigns on high,
Forever and ever.
His kingdom shall reign,
Over all the earth.
The Lord shall return,
To save all His children.
His kingdom shall reign,
Over all the earth.
Singing filled the room, echoing off the walls. Everyone was on their feet as the praises were sung.
Kyle’s hand still in Misty’s, he leads the way closer to the front over to one side where there are several empty seats. Sliding in, he brings Misty with him. The man standing next to them smiles and shakes both their hands, greeting them as the service moves on around them.
The worship team leads the songs, backed up by several guitars, a keyboard and drums. Mike is positioned behind the set this morning, and Phil is part of this week’s team too, playing the bass as normal. His own eyes roam the room, and catching sight of his brother and Misty, a smile forms, his worry dispersing. Normally Kyle would be up there with them, but the team leaders already knew he’d be out for a while.
Thank you, Father,
Thank you, Jesus,
You lift me up on high.
Thank you Father,
Thank you, Jesus,
I want to be your child.
Your glory shines through all the earth,
Throughout eternity.
Seated in the sanctuary, one could count about a hundred and fifty people gathered this morning. The quietness while listening to the sermon was a contrast to the enthusiastic singing, though all eyes were focused ahead to the pastor.
Kyle does his best to make Misty as comfortable as possible, the atmosphere here casual and warm...
“…so this father has a choice.” The pastor continues his story. “He sees his little boy, and he sees this crowd of people that are going to die. He can run and save his boy from death, or, he can allow his son to die, and save the larger number. What would you do?”
The pastor shakes his head slowly. “Most of you know I’ve got three children of my own. Caleb is only five, Timmy is seven and Hannah just started third grade. Now you tell me if I’d give one of them up to save a bunch of strangers who didn’t even deserve to live in the first place. Not only that, but had actually ridiculed me personally.”
He purses his lips in thought, silence reigning the room for several seconds. “I’m just glad I never had to make that choice. But God did. He had a son just like me. Only this was his only son…his one and only, beloved, Jesus. It was bad enough that the plan was to send Jesus out of Heaven to live on earth as a man, but then to watch him die…. Watch him be beaten…spit on…put on that cross and have those nails driven right through his hands and feet. And why?”
The passion shows through the pastor’s voice as gestures accompany his words, his eyes reflecting how heavy this was on his heart…his burden to share this truth. “Why did he let his son die like that? Because of you. That’s right…you. You, you, you…” He points to random people. “And why? Because his love is so great…so awesome…so powerful…that he so badly wanted a way for sin to be destroyed. God wanted you to be a part of His family, and in order to do that, innocent blood had to be spilled. So it was his perfect Son. That Son that not only died and suffered a brutal death…but rose again three days later, fulfilling the prophecy and bringing about the entire circle that would form a way for us to meet God.”
A smile spreads. “You can’t get much more awesome than that. God’s love…do you know it? Have you tasted it? Have you found that very hope within you that can only be driven by the very power of God’s love itself?”
As the sermon draws to an end, the pastor exits the stage, soft music beginning to play. After a short intro, a sweet female voice rings out. Only those looking for the singer would have seen the young woman in the wheelchair back in the corner out of the spotlight.
I would have been a wayward soul,
Lost in the open sea.
I would have been a wounded soldier,
Cast upon the fields.
I would have been a captured slave,
To die a lonely death.
But someone came,
To pick me up,
And save me from these chains.
It was Him,
Who gave me love to save me.
It was Him,
Who showed me peace and joy.
It was Him,
Who showed me just what mercy meant.
And grace fell down,
To cover me,
And I was whole again.
I would have been a lonely heart,
Sent to darkened roads.
I would have been a broken spirit,
Lost along the way.
I would have been an orphaned child,
Alone eternally.
But someone came,
To lift me up,
And save me from these chains.
It was Him,
Who gave me love to save me.
It was Him,
Who showed me peace and joy.
It was Him,
Who showed me just what mercy meant.
And grace fell down,
To cover me,
And I was whole again.
It was Him,
Who gave His Son to save me.
It was Him,
Who offered me true love.
It was Him,
Who looked beyond my sin and shame.
And grace fell down,
To cover me,
And I was whole again.
Yes grace fell down,
To cover me,
And I was whole again.
Kyle’s head is bowed, his eyes closed as he takes in the words to the song. He knew them by heart – he had written them himself, but that gave them no less meaning. Emotion is etched on his face as he reflects on his own life…how close to death he’d felt just hours…and the Shelter that he’d known for so long. He was blessed to be alive, and even more so to actually be up and walking.
The service continues with communion and a short offering, ending with more singing where everyone could join in. The excitement and energy fill the room as shouts of praise rang out, the music inspiring the soul.
All too soon, the music is fading, and people are starting to filter out of the large room. Kyle is on his feet and turns to Misty, a peaceful smile on his lips. He cocks his head, his eyes gazing on hers, just watching…studying.
As the people grow less and less, once again Kyle takes Misty’s hand, leading her back outside, more people greeting them along the way, including Phil who is able to find them, saying that he’ll see them later.
Back into Misty’s car, Kyle tries to hide his exhaustion behind his smile. He didn’t know what Misty thought of this morning…but he hoped she’d enjoyed herself, and he was glad that he’d had the opportunity to bring her today. He wouldn't ask her any questions unless she brought the subject up herself.
Pointing towards the street, he grins. “I got somewhere special to go for lunch,” he mentions quietly. “Hang a right out of here.”
Look
*Finishing up in the bathroom Misty heads back twords the infermary. Not many people were at TJY being sunday but some were. As Misty passed them she new there were looking at her. Not many people had even seen Misty in a dress, and she liked it that way. Misty hated wairing them but today was special and Misty new it. She wanted to look nice for Kyle. Her black dress came to just above the knee and had a white ribbon around the waist, the front giving a little bit of a dip but not to far. The straps on her shoulder were on the thickerside but still offered the coolness for the warmth of the day. Her flat black dress shows made a soft clicking sound on the tile floor. Misty's hair was done up nicly in a brade that had a white and black ribbon running through it and hung down the back of the open dress. The sweet smell of Misty's body spray lingering where ever she walked.
Entering the infermary Misty looking around for Kyle. Seeing he has not returned yet Misty heads over to her desk and stands looking down at some paper work getting completely lost.
Feeling Kyle's arm around her in an instint Misty is jolted from her work she was looking at and a grin spreads across her lips. Bring her one had up to his arm and leaning her head back Misty just listens to Kyle for a moment.*
"It was my pleasure."
*Keeping Kyle's arm around her Misty turns so she can face him her eyes giving him a once over and than her grin growing even more.*
"You smell amazing, and your looks go along great with it. You look fantastic."
Ready for church
Kyle watches Misty, and tries to process everything she's saying, still a bit groggy. Sighing, he gives her a nod. He didn't feel like anything but water at the moment anyway.
As she disappears into the hall, he rolls over onto his back and just lies still for several minutes, clearing his mind, trying to remember all that had happened in the night, and trying to figure out just what was happening today.
Finally Kyle musters up enough energy to sit up and swing out of bed. He felt as if he'd been hit by a truck, and as he stands, his legs want to give out on him. Taking his time, he manages to get his bag and slowly make it to the bathroom.
Working with one hand and against weariness, it takes Kyle longer than usual for him to shower and get dressed, doing his best to clean up and be presentable. He knew he looked a bit pale, and getting his contacts in was a chore this morning, but he manages and finally makes it back to the infirmary.
Dressed for church, he's in black jeans with a white collard shirt tucked in, the top two buttons left undone. His hair is still wet, and the scent of his cologne follows him.
Setting his backpack on the floor again, he glances around and spots Misty by her desk. Moving quietly, he comes up behind her and slings his arms up over her shoulders to cross in front of her as he rests his forehead on her shoulder. Though feeling utterly exhausted, he could tell something was different...he knew instinctively that the poison had been defeated.
"Thank you," he manges hoarsely. Swallowing hard and wincing, he moves one hand to brush her cheek, still keeping his arms around her. "For staying with me."
Be ok
*Only felling like she had just fell asleep Misty is awaken but the soft fingers that ran across her face. Slowly opening her eyes Misty looks up at Kyle and gives a smile as she burrys her head in the pillow. Her eyes not leaving Kyle's face for a moment. How tired she felt, how she wanted to sleep more, but remembering what day it was and the promise she made she finally sits up and stretches. Slidding off the bed Misty heads over to where her bag was set and picks it up before turning to Kyel.*
"If you want take a right out of here and there is a bathroom and shower so you can get ready. I will be down to the left."
*Misty heads for the door and than stops turning and looking at Kyle again a smile on her face.*
"Oh get yourself some water as well. I wouldn't sugest anything alse because it will hurt pretty bad. You tore you throut up pretty bad lastnight but your going to be ok now."
*With that Misty turns again and exits the infermary heading down the hall to get ready to leave with Kyle.*
Awake
Kyle’s eyes fly open. He stares directly at Misty who is still lying next to him. Not having move, he lets his hand slide from her face, and he swallows hard. His mouth felt like cotton, his throat feeling as though it were full of needles. But something was…different.
Moving around slightly, he finds a clock and sees that it’s seven. He had to….get up…to get ready…to go.
Even his mind was acting lethargic. Kyle takes a deep breath to yawn, and gives a short cough, but nothing compared to several hours earlier. Opening his mouth, he wants to say something, but he decides not to try. Instead, his hand goes back to Misty’s face, his fingers going softly and gently.
He was tired…but he wanted to get up. He didn’t want to miss this morning’s opportunities, no matter how tired he felt.
9/2/08
Live Again
*Still running a gentil hand through Kyle's hair Misty cant help her smile as she see Kyle's one eye open and look at her. He was trying to follow what she said and that was good at least that ment he was understanding and comprehending.
As Kyle's eyes drift shut again Misty just stairs at his face, though his body was still battling Kyle had started to look a tad bit at peace again. Kyle had a long way but it was a start. Not sure if Kyle is sleeping or not Misty smiles and gives his forhead a tiny kiss.*
"It's going to be ok now Kyle. Your going to be ok."
*Misty continues to watch Kyle her eyes scanning his quiet face. As Misty wanted him she can't help but let her mind wonder for a moment to, tonight. She new this was a decoy to try and get the Agency to attach again, but a sudden nervouseness cant help but surface in Misty stomach.
As Misty thinks, her mind goes back to Kyle and soft words enter her mind, as the escape from her lips in a soft tone of comfort.*
In the gold flood of light
Where the earth meets summer skies
In the satin chill of night
Where dreams await to rise
You bend, you kiss me
You pull me in
I can feel you
Running to me, running through me
Hear the call of night
Open the borders of time
Hear the song of the stars
Sound like a whisper
I've fallen deep from the day
Into eternal, eternal visions of our emotions
I am diamond, I am rust
From the place a love of love and pain
Made from heaven made from dust
Where dreams will live again
yeah...where dreams will live again
*Misty's words drift off into a soft hum as she hold Kyle, waiting as the minutes tick by. Not taking her eye from Kyle as she watches over him.*
Comfort
Never before having ever experienced anything like this, Kyle numbly follows Misty’s guidance, sitting up, trying to drink some water, and lying back down again. The feeling that surged through him was unexplainable. It felt as though his whole body was at war. For an instant, every single muscle in his body hurt before they relaxed again.
Finally having emptied his stomach, Kyle’s head sinks back down into the pillow his eyes closed, the sweat running down his face. His breathing was rapid and shallow as for several more minutes he fights a painful cough.
He feels the cool cloth on his face and swallows hard, just soaking in the coldness as it combats the risen temperature.
Caught somewhere between reality and a world where nothing made sense, Kyle’s eyes flutter open, then shut again as he tries to make sense of what’s going on. He wants to wake up to know what's happening, but exhaustion holds him back.
Then he feels the comforting arm around him, almost willing him to relax. The soothing voice hits his ears like an antidote in itself to combat his urge to fight. His body begins to relax under Misty’s touch, her fingers running through his hair bringing a feeling of peace.
Doing his best to do as told, Kyle tries to slow his breathing down and eventually the coughing lessens, finally subsiding.
Squinting one eye open, he sees Misty’s eyes looking back at him. It takes effort to not drift asleep again, and a faint grin tweaks the corner of his mouth. Pale and weakened, his eyes fall shut again. But his hand moves, coming up to rest on Misty’s face, his fingers cradling her cheek. For a moment, his thumb runs along her jawline, then he’s quiet again. It’s not positive whether he’s drifted back to sleep or not.
It's ok
*As Misty rests with Kyle her eyes were closed but she was far from asleep. Her mind roaming, hoping that for Kyle this would work.
As Kyle starts to cough and prosists to throw up Misty snaps her head up from the bed. Her eyes growing wide. Jumping up from the chair Misty helps Kyle sit up and lean over the bed into the bucket next to the bed so he dosn't choke more than he already was.
Leaving his side for a moment Misty goes to the sink and grabs another cool cloth and a glass of water and hurrys back to Kyle's side. Sitting down on the edge of the bed close to Kyle Misty trys to get Kyle to drink at least a little bit before sitting the cup down. Than taking the cool cloth Misty whipes Kyle's face with it trying to keep his body cool.
The Sympathy in her eyes for Kyle shows through and though. The antidote seemed to be working but it was still a painful process and it pained Misty to see Kyle in pain.
As Kyle curls up Misty lays next to him on the small bed and wraps her amrs around him. Offering him shelter. Seeing Kyle said was enough to drive anyone crazy, this man who always wore a smile, was now facing his greatest test of all.
As Misty keeps her arm wrapped around him she runs her other hand through his hair and she leans her head on his. Misty didn't care that Kyle was a mess and dirty, it dient bother her one bit she just wanted Kyle to know she was there.*
"Shhhh....Kyle, its ok...its going to be ok. I'm right here with you. Just try and breath slowly...It's going to be ok. I won't leave you. Take some breaths in through you noise and out through you mouth."
Working
Kyle makes it through the restless night, waking up periodically coughing, and finally a small fever sets in.
At five, as Misty comes to him, he barely opens his eyes, feeling too exhausted to move. And when he did move, all he did was cough. So he just lies still, feeling the prick of the needle and wincing but not drawing away.
Feeling Misty’s soft kiss, then her hand in his, a faint grin appears on his face, even though his eyes are closed, and he tightens his fingers just a little around hers. He knew he’d worsened in the night, but his spirit was just as strong as ever.
It’s half an hour when suddenly he’s struck with the most violent attack yet. Coughing hard, he rolls over in the opposite direction to double over and try to stop the coughing and the pain it evoked. The taste of blood enters his mouth and he knows damage has been done from the harsh convulsions.
Coughing so much that his sides hurt, he starts to vomit as his body begins to work with the antidote at fighting the poison, ridding itself of all that might cause harm.
Wincing and unable to stop, Kyle curls up tighter. And for the first time, he feels a small amount of fear. “Misty…”
Mixture
*Angel can't help the that increases on her face and the beaming light from her eyes. This was finally happening and next week to boot.*
"I'll have to think on that one, but I think I'd like to decide together with you and not on my own. After all you have to come along too."
*A giggle escapes Angel's lips as she looks towards the cot where Jeff was and than back to Luke. Leaning in to kiss him again before pulling away and standing.*
"I better get going so Jeff can sleep, I'll see you in the morning sweetheart."
*Running a hand along the side of Luke's face Angel backs away to the door and disappears into the night returning to her own bunk and settling in a smile on her face as she falls asleep and dreams of the happy times to come.*
*Katie gives a nod as she listens to Jason. Everything he said about tomarrow made sence and it helped her feel better that they had a game plan. The last thing she wanted was for anyone of them to get hurt let along anyone in the crowd.*
"Sounds like a plan and I think getting together before would be a good idea. I want everyone on the same page going into this thing so there are no miss understandings and someone gets hurt."
*Katie finishs up her meal with Jason giving a small burp afterwards. Katie stands and makes her way to the door. Tonight had been a pretty goodnight. Dispite the awkwardness for a moment and the feelings Katie new Jason was hidding everything had gone good.
Heading twords her car Katie gets in and pulls out of the driveway throwing a wave to Jason as she disapreaded down the driveway. Receving Jason's emotional message Katie sends her own smile back and reply Ditto.
Before long she is heading down the road and pulling into Jen driveway ready to spend another night with her and her family.*
*Misty works dillagently around the clock. The house ticking by...going from blood samples under a mycroscope to print outs back to the blood samples. Trying not to clink vials Misty mixes differnt mixtures together and puting them with the blood samples and than back to mixing, throwing the old ones away. The hours continue to slip away and time does not seem to be on Misty's side. Hearing Kyle go into a coughing fit Misty shakes her head and she trys to work a little faster but with great care.*
"Hold in there Kyle, hold in there."
*As Misty warms up she removes her top shirt leaving her in a just a tank top as she continues to work. A million things run through Misty's mind and being tired is not just thought of. Saving Kyle is what drove Misty on.
More hours pass, and time continues to fly as Misty's once again heads back to the blood samples. Injecting some of the new formaula into the blood sample Misty waits as she looks into the myrascope. As she continues to watch a smile spreads across her lips as the mixture attachs the poison in the blood.
Standing quickly Misty goes to where Rick was keeping the healing agent. Taking it she goes back to her mixture and adds a few things also mixing in the healing agent as well.
Taking a saring Misty fills it with the antidote and walks over to Kyle puting on some gloves and taking a band. Closing her eyes for a moment Misty can only hope this will with. She had been up all night it was now 5 am. This was there last hope.
Gently shaking Kyle Misty smiles down at him running a free hand over his face.*
"I got it Kyle, I got the cure. Your gonna be ok..."
*Finally the tiredness catching up with her, her emotions double. As a few tears slip from her eyes.*
"...your gonna be ok. You have to be Kyle."
*Gently putting the band around his arm Misty finds his vain. Sticking the needle into his arm she injects the antidot than removes the band putting a bandage over the small pick mark.
Throwing away the needle Misty grats a washcloth and gets it cold. Returning to Kyle Misty places the cloth over his head to cool him down.
Bending down she press her lips to his before sitting back down in the chair next to Kyle. Resting her hand on his hand and her head on the side of the bed all Misty could do was wait, and keep Kyle as comfortable as she could.*
Midnight
Luke's voice is low and soft as he runs his fingers through Angel's hair. "Then next week it is. You better tell people around here you're gonna be gone for a week after that too." His smile is just visible in the dark. "You get to pick where we go."
Jason regains whatever control he can and lets Katie help him back up so he can sit on the couch again. Focusing on supper, he reverts his thoughts to food, then to tomorrow night as Katie shifts the conversation.
"Having those guys sounds great. I'll feel a little funny not being on that team, but obviously I have to be up on stage." He laughs a little. "At least I'll have a good view, and you and I won't even need mics." He grins, taking another bite of his sandwich. "I'll want to have a quick get together before the show though...this is a family night we're playing at, so there's going to be kids there. We need to make sure that if anything does go down that we do our best no only to do it quietly, but make sure no body gets hurt." He thinks for a moment. "If I think about it, tomorrow when I go in to work I'll go down to the supply room and grab some firearms and silencers. You all are good enough that you could take someone down without the audience even knowing about it."
Talk is kept fairly light after that, and it doesn't take long to finish supper. Once cleaned up and trash thrown away, Jason walks Katie to the door, going out on the porch with her. He leans on the railing as she heads down the walk. "Guess I'll see you tomorrow afternoon then." He was going in to work, but he knew that she'd be in church in the morning. "Thanks for supper..."
Watching for just a moment, he turns to head back inside. Once the door is shut, he leans against it, closing his eyes and letting out a long sigh. The thoughts and feelings that came to mind, he didn't let out in the open. But suddenly the future was foggy all over again. He just needed to forget about the brief awkwardness tonight...he just needed to move past it and shrug it off. It had meant nothing...though Katie's feelings still lingered in the back of his mind. She had missed him...
Shaking his head, Jason heads to the living room. He would forget. Thanks for just being you, Katie. I couldn't ask for a better friend.
Kyle watches Misty for a moment as she goes back to work, and lets a little sigh escape. Moving around, he lays back on the bed, kicking his shoes off to put his feet up too. Stretched out, he just stares at the ceiling tiles, his mind at work counting them, thinking about tomorrow, praying, thinking about Misty, and thinking about his family.
His eyes start to drift shut...he was so tired...
Midnight. Kyle is woken up coughing. Trying to get himself back under control, he rolls onto his side, trying also to figure out where he was. With each cough, it hurt more, his eyes tearing up as it feels as though his throat and lungs were on fire.
Making out the lights and Misty's figure across the room, he finally remembers where he is.
Groping for the cup of water on the bedside table, his coughing jars his hand and he knocks it off onto the floor. Giving up, he just doubles up tighter on his side, trying to stop the coughing on his own.
Throw
*As Katie rests for a moment, she can feel the strain Jason is going through those she cant feel the emotions. Trying to calm her ownself down...her racing heart slows. Looking down as Jason and seeing the hint of lonlyness in his eyes Katie cocks her head and smiles giving a playful tap to his noise.*
"Pst....When have you ever seen me leave Burger King food uneaten?"
*Using the table and the coutch edge to get herself up off the ground Katie stands at Jason's feet and holds her arms out to him to help him up.*
"Oh course I will stay and finish eating with you."
*After helping Jason up Katie sits back down on the coutch and pops a french fry into her mouth. Looking down at the tomato that layed on the wrapper Katie shakes her head and grabs it throwing it to the waiting Trooper and gives a laugh before turning back to Jason and smiling.*
"I've got all the sacurity for tomarrow taken care of. Con and Wyatt said they would be coming, along with Nate. So we should be good. We've got the best of the best looking out for you guys."
As Katie’s lips move past Jason’s and her face rests against his, his innermost being is stretched to the limit. Withholding the one emotion that he had kept locked tightly away from Katie was pounding at the door, screaming to be let out. But he would not let it. No, he could not…he would not.
Knowing how she felt, feeling the shift in emotions and understanding them makes it all the harder and he closes his eyes for a moment, his heart seeming to beat a hundred miles an hour. No…not like this.
Keeping any thoughts from drifting to Katie was like trying to hold back the tide, but somehow he pulls it off, though it saps much of his physical strength, and he can feel himself start to almost go numb.
Mustering up the energy to respond and to draw out all the positive emotions he can, he manages a short laugh. “Yes, you better…or else Trooper is going to have the rest of our supper.”
Reaching around to lift Katie’s head back up, he looks her in the eye, his own twinkling, but at the same time begging her. “But you will stay to finish eating…won’t you?”
Slip
*Katie smile prosiest on her face as Jason runs his finger down her noise.*
"Well I guess your my Hero this time for getting the left overs that was on my face."
*As Katie goes to her up, she feels a sudden surge of an emotion than is suddenly snuffed out quickly. Looking down as Jason her eyes search his, falling into there mysterious gaze that lasted a life time. Suddenly an emotion, one that Katie had worked so hard to bury rises again. Shifting just a little bit Katie moves her weaght off Jason so he can breath. Leaning her head down Katie brings her face close to Jason's once again. Her lips inches from his, her emotions, her heart racing, her breath reflecting off his skin, but insted of her lips kiss Jason something stops her and they brush the side of his cheek as she just rests her face aganst his fighting her urge to kiss, the lips she once held as her own. Whisperng softly as her mind sends out a differnt emotions saying How I've missed this, and you. An emotion she dident mean to let free but let slip.*
"I...better get going."
Lid
As Trooper joins the mix and Katie tries to fend him off, Jason keeps laughing and struggles to right himself, but has difficulties. Before he can sit up, all of a sudden, Katie is tumbling toward him and landing right on top of him.
The wind is knocked out of him as an elbow hits his gut, and he tries to catch his breath, face to face with Katie.
Hearing her line about the temperature, he holds in his laughter. “You’re telling me.”
Managing to free one arm, be brings a hand up to her face, running his thumb over her nose. “You missed a spot.”
In an instant, a chill runs down Jason’s spine, and he immediately puts a lid on his emotions.
Looking up at Katie, he swallows hard, then forces his grin to return. “You realize that if you don’t move, I’m stuck down here. Not to mention you’re cutting off my air supply.”
Weather
*Laughing uncontrollable Katie looks down on the ground at Jason giving a little wave.*
"Hows the weather down there?"
*As the coutch shakes from the big dog Katie looks up only to receve licks to the face. Trying to fend Trooper off Katie trys to stand but slips at the big dog goes to jump on her. Fall back on the coutch she hits the edge and rolls over landing right on top of Jason and coming face to face with him only inches away. Katie's eyes lock with Jason for a moment and an uncontrollable feeling washes over her.*
"The weather is a little hot down here if I do say so."
Fall
Finally letting a grin slip, Jason receives Katie’s message loud and clear, but relaxes anyway, sure that the war has ended.
But before he even has time to pick his burger back up again, Katie has pinned him down, her fingers to his ribs.
Letting out a shriek, Jason’s laughter finally breaks forth as he squirms and tries to fend Katie off. “Not the ribs, not the ribs!” He can’t help laughing though, and gasps for air, his face getting red.
Shifting his weight he gets a leg up under Katie and attempts to shoot her to the other side of the couch, but his movement backfires. The cushion slides and before he can even react, he’s on the floor on his back, wedged between the coffee table and the couch.
Hearing the ruckus, Trooper comes bounding down the hall, giving a short bark. In one leap, he’s up on the couch with Katie, shaking the entire seat like an earthquake, his tail wagging as he begs to be a part of this fun.
Taunt
*As the cold tomato goes down the back of Katie’s shirt the cold chill shoots through her, she lets out a gasp and her laughing suddenly stop though her eyes still sparkle.*
“Holy cow that’s cold.”
*Try told hold her face straight Katie reaches up the back of her shirt for the tomato and her emotions starts to run relaying a message to Jason. You’re a dead man you know that. And the ending is laced with a laugh the tone joking.
Once removing the tomato Katie sets it down on the paper and stands. Shaking her head she goes to turn as if to walk away. Going behind the back of the coutch she makes a swift movment and jumps over it landing right next to Jason and pinning him down her fingers making here way to his side as once again her laughter rings out as she watches Jason squrm.*
"Now what are you gonna do.."
*She taunts.*
Tomato
Jason’s eyes widen as the tomato hits him and he pauses, his burger still in his hand. Turning his head slowly, he’s having a hard time not smiling, gritting his teeth to keep the laughter in.
Reaching up with one hand, he takes the slimy tomato of his neck and wipes the slime and seeds off with the back of his hand.
Seeing Katie in a laughing fit, he sets his sandwich down, and reaches over, so nonchalantly, then too quickly to stop. Fast as anything, suddenly the tomato slice is sliding down the back of Katie’s shirt, and Jason has scooted to the far end of the couch, ready to defend himself.
“I think you got a veggie down your shirt,” he points out, his face reddening as it’s getting harder to keep from laughing.
Little Brat
*As Jason goes to swips Katie's noise she trys to duck but her reflexs are to late and gets it in the noise. Just sitting there for a moment Katie purces her lips almost stunned. Finally though a smile breaks through.*
"Why you little brat..."
*Looking cross eyed for a moment Katie stairs at the mixture on her nose and shakes her head. Taking the napkin Katie goes to wipe the condiment off her nose when she stops for a second and gets a mischievous look in her eye and a deviate grin on her lips. Reaching over to her burger wrapper Katie whipes her nose with the napkin and grabs the tomato from the paper not aiming but throwing it as Jason hearing it hit him with a splat. Looking over Katie cant help but bust out laughing as she see the tomato stuck to Jason's neck. What starts out as a small laugh soon turns into a roaring laughter.*
"J....J..you...*gasps for air* should see how funny you look...."
...
Jason grins and starts to take a bite of his burger, but as Katie nudges him, his fingers tighten and sauce spills out, dripping onto the table.
Turning his head, he gives her a sidelong glance and a smirk. Looking down, he shakes his head. "Keep this up and you'll never fly."
He reaches down to wipe up the sauce with his finger and without giving any time for defense, he's suddenly swiped Katie's nose with it, leaving the catchup and mayo mixture on her face.
Without even cracking a smile, Jason reaches for a napkin. "I think you need this."
9/1/08
Finally
*Katie smiles and enters the house putting the food down on the living room table and snuggling into Jason's couch. Jason's house was nice this was her find time actually inside but it was nice and had a comfy atmosphere to it.
Grabbing a fry for herself Katie gives a short laugh at Jason. It felt good to be able to sit with her friend again and feel comfortable. It was something she had missed.*
"Yeah maybe I am, but once a Hero always a Hero. You just can't get away. By the way did you ever find out when I am going to be able to fly?"
*Katie can't help the sly grin that forms on her lips and she takes a bit of a burger and than nudges Jason with her shoulder playfully*
*Misty smiles at Kyle thankful for his understanding and amazed at how he still had a smile on his face. It was so strange to see someone be given bad new and still hold a smile on there face. Misty admired that about Kyle, She really did.*
"Well, I wont work to hard but I will be up till I find the antidote. I couldn't sleep if I tryed right now. It just wouldn't be passable even if I tryed."
*Misty offers another smile to Kyle and stands.*
"Well you better get some sleep. I'll keep the light low for you. If you need anything just yell."
*Misty runs a hand under Kyle's chin before starting to turn and leave. If she got to work now, maybe she would find the answer before church in the morning.*
*Angel smiles as Luke pulls away and than comes in for another kiss. Pure bliss is what she felt in the moment. It seemed one happy even after another and more to come. Though the war was far from over, the happyness that they all had longed for, for a while was finally making itself know. They were finally standing up to the Agency and showing them they could not bring them down. If anything was going to hurt them, this would the most. Pulling away from the kiss Angel's eyes shine in the light as they look deep into Luke's own.*
"Today, tomarrow, next week, a month from now....it dosn't matter to me as long as I am getting married to you Luke. As long as I finally can call myself your wife."
*Her face lit up like a million candles when she spoke those words. That word she had ment, the words she had wanted to say for a long time.*
It's yours
Jason is plodding halfway through his meager and not-so-tasty supper, when the knock at the door startles him. Who would be here? He’d talked to all his friends today…and no one ever stopped by unannounced.
Getting up from the couch and setting his food down, he limps barefoot through the kitchen, but pauses at the counter. Katie. What was she doing here? Was she alone? Was everything okay?
Swinging the door open and hearing her greeting, a smile spreads on his face. He folds his arms across his chest and cocks his head. “You weren’t supposed to be eavesdropping on my evening.” His statement is laced with humor, and though halfway chiding, the pleasure shows in his eyes.
He opens the door wider. “But I’m not saying no to real food, and I’m certainly not saying no to the company.”
Jason leads the way back into the living room where he picks up his former supper and goes to deposit it into a very happy Trooper’s bowl. Getting back to the couch, he eases down and nods for Katie to join him, using the coffee table for the food. He mutes the television, tired of the movie anyway.
Snatching a french-fry, he grins. “Mmm…much better than an overcooked piece of something they claim to be meat.”
Drawing one leg up on the couch to tuck a foot between the cushions, he starts the meal with Katie, happy to have the company at least for a little while. “You realize you’re taking the role of “hero” way to seriously.” He grins. “But I’m not going to complain.”
Bret smiles back at Charlotte, his eyes following her as she goes to her car and backs out of the driveway. Sighing a little, he finally gets out too, locking his car and heading to the porch.
Instead of going inside, he sits down on the swing for a few minutes, the chilly breeze running through his hair. He liked spending time with Charlotte…she was a bright spot in his life. She gave him something to look forward to…something to keep his mind busy. She was special…and she was becoming more special to him.
Having a woman in his life again was something Bret hadn’t really intended. After the first failure and the divorce, he’d decided he wasn’t going to try it again. Charlotte though…she was different. But what were Bret’s intentions? Was he thinking long term or was she just satisfying his need for friendship?
Giving another sigh, Bret finally stands up and heads for the door. His thoughts would still be there in the morning. Tonight he was going to sleep.
Reaching the door handle, he suddenly notices a paper stuck in the door. Furrowing his brow, he takes it out and unfolds it. Scanning the scribbled note, his confusion turns to ire. Crumpling up the paper, he tosses it out into the grass where the wind carried it away.
Getting inside and turning on the lights, Bret double checks the locked doors before going to bed. So much for a restful night.
As Misty starts to tell Kyle what’s really going on, a chill runs down his spine. Swallowing hard, he just listens, without jumping to conclusions. Taking in the information and hearing Misty’s apology, his eyes slowly drift to his hands that are still in his lap.
He did wish she would have told him sooner…though he had had his suspicions already. Just the way Rick had talked to her, and the worry in her eyes all day, he’d suspected there was more. He just hadn’t wanted to ask, almost afraid to know the answer.
Part of him was upset for not having known…part of him was glad he’d been able to enjoy the day without the worry. This was serious though. If he still had this poison in his system…it could not only ruin his voice permanently, but it could kill him.
Taking a deep breath, he closes his eyes for just a moment. He’d never been close to death, but he was not afraid. Lord, give me strength.
Slowly he looks back up at Misty, a warm smile making its way across his face. Reaching up with his good hand, he takes a finger to trace above her eye, down across her cheek, then under her chin, where he gives her a tap before letting his hand drop again. “There’s nothing to forgive,” he whispers hoarsely. “But don’t work too hard tonight…you’ll keep me up.”
His grin remaining, he winks at her. His face is one of peace, his eyes those of concern but not worry for he had no fear. There would be disappointment if there was permanent damage, but he would deal with it as it came. There would be pain if he were to die, but he had too much to gain to fear that. And there was too good of a chance that Misty would find the right antidote for him to sit around and worry.
“I’ll have to keep you awake tomorrow in church,” he teases quietly. “Then it will be a nice pot of black coffee before you sing tomorrow night.”
Coughing for a moment, he shakes his head and looks back at Misty, serious again. “I’m not scared…you shouldn’t be either.”
Not having been asleep, Luke’s eyes fly open as someone enters the darkened bunk. He doesn’t have to see who it is though, to know.
As Angel takes him in the passionate embrace, he draws himself up on one arm. His other hand cradles the side of her face as he gently returns her kiss, his fingers making their way to the back of her head as he gets lost in the moment.
Jeff quirks a sleepy eyebrow from the other bed, just able to see the silhouettes of Luke and Angel and what was going on. Sighing, he pulls his blanket up further and rolls over in the other direction in slight annoyance. A grin surfaces though. Luke had talked with him earlier…he was happy for them.
Luke finally draws away, just able to see Angel’s eyes as the light from another porch light reflects off of them. He returns for another kiss, proving his own passion before ending the exchange.
A soft smile creases his lips as he looks at Angel, his hand caressing her cheek. “Name the day,” he whispers. “And it’s yours.”
Answer
*As Katie sits at her desk she lets out a long sigh. Tonight her and Scott went doing anything they both decide they should get some rest before tomorrows big event. If everything went right there would be some excitement and no room for being tired.
Standing Katie gives a strech and heads out to her car. Slipping into the drivers seat Katie just sits for a moment a suddin wave of bordum, maybe a hint of sadness washing over her. A small smile curles on her lips as she thinks about Jason and the tv dinner. Men can never cook thought things right can they? Starting her car and letting a laugh ring through her mind Kaite pulls out of TJY as she blocks only a certin spot in her mind where a plan formed.
Coming up to a BK Katie pulls in and orders some food. She was going to head over to Jen's but first she wanted to make a pit stop. After a few more minutes of driving Katie pulls into Jason's driveway and smiles. Getting out of the car she heads up the side walk and knocks on the door. Waiting for Jason to answer she smiles.*
"I though you might like some real food and maybe some company of a friend before I head to Jen's!"
*As Carson heads out Jess gives a nod.*
"Night Carson, and thanks for the shake."
*Once Carson is gone Jess throws the rest of the shake away in the trash. Her stomach just not able to handle anymore. Flopping back on the bed Jess stairs up at the cealing. Tonight she new would be another restless night.
As a small tap sounds on the door Jess sits up with a start and just stairs for a moment not sure who would be there.*
"Jess, its Angelica. Rick had told me it was ok to talk to you now."
*Leting out a sigh of releaf Jess relaxes a bit.*
"Yeah come in."
*Angelica enters the room and offers her hand to Jess in a shake than sits down in a chair acorss from the bed. Indulging in some normal conversation with Jess first to make her comfortable and than than going on to why she would here to talk to her.
The hours draged on and Jess, was qEnter away message text here.uiet about most having Angelica have to ask her more than once a question but finally she had all she needed. Her heart went out to the young girl. She was so lost and confused, and hurting.
Laying a hand on Jess shoulder Angelica smiles.*

*Angelia stands and leaves the room leaving Jess with her feelings, and emotions alone once again. Leting out a heavy sigh she lays back on the bed leting the darkness saround her till finally her eyes drift shut.*
*Charlotte smiles at Bret before she gets out of the car. She did enjoy spending her time with Bret and she had grown closer to him more than exspected. Now thinking about spending a free day flipping a coin by herself just dident seem exciting. *
"I guess I can thank you as well. You keep my days full of excitment."
*As Bret's fingers brush her face she leans into them a little bit enjoying the wormth that they offered.*
"It's funny to think and innocent pool game turned into this..."
*Charlotte lips curle and her eyes dance with excitment as she gazes at Bret.*
"...It was worth it too."
*Charlotte opens the car door and steps out the smile still present on her lips.*
*As Misty and Kyle head inside Misty smiles. The night had been fun and though Kyle had tryed to be himself Misty new better.
Getting into the infermary and seeing Kyle sit down as if waiting to be told what to do Misty continplates in her head a few things. She new she should tell Kyle what was going on, he'd be wondering anyways when he dident see her go to bed. But she dident want him to worry, but Misty new it was his right to know. Coming over to Kyle and sitting down next to him Misty lets out a long sigh looking at her hands than back at Kyle.*
"Kyle, I...I probley wont be sleeping tonight. There is more to your condition that Rick had told me this morning that I havent told you."
*Misty draws silent for a moment not sure how Kyle will take the new, or if he will be upset with her or not.*
"I won't be sleeping tonight because my whole night will devoted to finding another antidote for you. It seems that the modified verson of the poison is still runing through your system and insted of getting better your geting worse. But I know I can find you a cure. I did before I can do it again Kyle. I wont give up and I wont let you give up eather."
*Misty looks down at the ground again before looking back at Kyle dead in the eyes.*
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner Kyle I just didn't want you to worry or lose hope. I guess I was trying to save you from the pain of knowing this all. Can you forgive me for keeping it to you."
*Entering into her bedroom after checking on Cindy, Kaylee and Wes for the night she was tired. It had been a long day but a well worth having. New life came into this word by the grace of God and it was moment like this that reminded Angel even more how amazing God was.
As her eyes land on the item on her bed and reads the letter a smile cross her lips. This was a long time coming. She had been pasent and now...now it was real.
Not even saying a word Angel exits the office and hops off the steps making her way across the lawn and up to Luke's bunk. Not even knocking Angel throws the door open and enters. Seeing Luke laying on his bed Angel goes over to him and throws her arms around his neck and brings her lips to his letter her passion show though and giving Luke his answer with out any words and her hand gently rubs his back.*
Love
Carson looks away at Jess’s question, for a moment before he looks at her again. “My sister and I used to be close, but…distance and time have a way of separating people.”
Encouraging just a little small talk to ease both their minds, Carson sticks around for a while before he stands up again. “I should go…I promised Herb I’d help close up tonight.”
He turns to leave, one hand on the doorknob, but pauses to see Jess again. “If you need anything…call Mom and Pop’s, alright? I’ll answer the phone. …Goodnight.”
Slipping out into the hall, he makes sure no one is around before making his way to the exit. Again he passes by the infirmary, willing himself not to stop. He shouldn’t take any more time anyway…he’d told Herb where he was going, but wanted to be back within a reasonable amount of time so as not to create any questions of his whereabouts.
Kyle hears Misty come back into the room, and looks around, seeing her go to her desk. He gives a little sigh and finally goes to get his notepad and pencil, flopping down on his stomach on the bed, jotting down words. He knew it would be a while before she was free. It was okay with him…he wasn’t so sure that supper sounded all that great right now anyway.
Bret pulls into his driveway and parks, shutting the engine off. It was dark now, though only a few stars had started to show themselves. Bret pulls out the keys and fingers them for a moment before looking over to Charlotte. “Well…another day bites the dust.”
A grin surfaces. “It lived a good life though…at least from my perspective.”
Bret lifts a hand to softly brush Charlotte’s cheek with the back of his fingers. “And I have you to thank for that.”
Jason flops down on his couch, flipping the television on. He props his knee up with an extra pillow, and situations himself with his warmed-up tv dinner for supper. Stabbing the overdone meat with a fork, he grimaces a little.
Trooper sits down and stares at him, starting to drool.
“After I taste this you might just get it,” Jason remarks. “But for now, don’t make me watch you drool.”
Trooper lowers his head and slides down onto the floor, heaving a sigh.
“Thank you.” Jason flips channels on the television, landing on some movie that he really wasn’t even interested in, but watches anyway.
It had been a tossup tonight between staying at work late or coming home. Neither one had been appealing. He’d spent a little time before coming home on the phone with Phil and Mike, then had stopped in to see Kyle and Misty to finalize plans for the next night. Now that he was home though, it was the same old routine. He’d eat the same tasteless food, watch the same television, then fall asleep on the couch before picking himself up about midnight to crawl into bed.
Kyle holds in another cough as he and Misty make it back to the infirmary. Supper had been fun, down at the diner, though Kyle hadn’t eaten much. Not wanting Misty to question him too much though, he’d laid on his antics to make her smile and laugh as much as any time, grinning all the while.
Now that it was evening, he was getting tired, and knew he should sleep, but he didn’t want to this early. There was so much already spinning around inside his head that he didn’t want to leave it to dreams.
Just sitting on the edge of the bed, he gives a little sigh and waits for further instructions. He didn’t know if Misty would be working late, if she’d stay up with him, or if she’d grab the cot in the corner.
Just as the sun is sinking low and the ranch is settling down, those tired make their ways to bed, to rest, to sleep, to prepare for a new day.
While new mother and father rest together in bliss, others also rest their weary heads on pillows to give themselves up to dreams until the morning.
And in one small house where Angel was, something new had appeared on her bed, placed there by hands not seen.
A bouquet of flowers rested on her pillow, tied with a purple ribbon. A note was laid out beside it, handwritten by the one that loved her so much.
“For you, from me, just to say I love you. Reminded not to take your love for granted, I give you this gift…and I give you me. Through thick and thin and for better or worse…I can no longer face the world alone. Be with me before our time is up so I will not waste one more day wishing for the heaven on earth I see in your eyes. I have put off too long, that which I want most to do. I love you. Marry me?”
