Though not surprised by Katie’s affection, her showing it never goes unwanted. Scott returns Katie’s kiss with gentle passion, his arms slowly making their way around her to draw her closer to him. Though his eyes were closed, he could see everything.
A cool breeze suddenly disrupts the heated air, bringing relief to the hidden lookout. Scott finally withdraws from Katie, just to pull her into a tight hug before holding her out at arm’s length.
“As much as I’d love to stand here kissing you all day…” His eyes sparkle with mischief, though they also beg for something else. “If I don’t get something in my stomach, I’m going to waste away to nothing, and then you’ll have to explain to everyone what really happened up here.”
Clint gives a surprisingly high-pitched shriek as Wendy’s fingers touch his ribs. He squirms out of her reach, unable to handle the tickling.
Ty jumps at her movement as well, even more surprised than Clint, and bewildered for just a moment.
“You…you…” Clint fishes for something to call after Wendy. “You mean…person…” His eyes go wide as he realizes just how lame he sounds.
Ty quirks an eyebrow at him. “Dude, you gotta work on those comebacks.”
“Great. You teach me. In the meantime, don’t let her get away with this!” Clint breaks into a sprint, running after Wendy.
Without thinking, Ty goes after him. More wiry than Clint, he passes him by, gaining ground on Wendy. As they cross the yard, Ty takes a flying leap, landing on the ground just close enough behind her to grab her legs and bring her down too.
“Ha!” Clint is quick to catch up, helping Ty pin Wendy to the ground. “Now who’s laughing, hmm??”
“Not fair!” Rosalynn hadn’t been far behind, and now helps fight for her friend by dragging Ty off of her, holding his arms behind his back. Instincts are automatic and Ty takes half a step back, kneels, and rolls forward, sending Rosalynn over his shoulders to do a summersault and land right next to Wendy.
Clint still straddles Wendy’s back and looks up in surprise. “You’ve got to show me how to do that.”
“Oh, no, not tickling!” Con squirms under BJ’s fingers, even though he can’t hardly feel a thing. “I won’t give up! I won’t!” Sitting up sends BJ tumbling into his lap, and he yanks Jamie down too, winding up with both of them locked in his strong arms.”
“So is this what you’ve been doing since I’ve been gone?” Austin cocks his head as he looks at the three of them from the doorway.
Con looks up, not having quite heard everything Austin said. His face turns a slight shade of red, but he doesn’t let either of his captives go. “Well hi there, Austin.”
Austin shakes his head, grinning just a little. “Jamie, just a fair warning – a crazy man is bad enough. A crazy tank is even worse.”
A bit of color enters Laura’s cheeks at some of Maggie’s words. She wondered if on some level Nate loved her…she knew he liked her, but…
Grinning, she watches the butterflies for a few more minutes before suddenly flopping onto her back, completely enveloped by the tall grass. “Ooh, look at the clouds, Maggie!” She points heavenward. “I see a cow….ooh, and a teapot….oooh,” She giggles. “That one looks like your brother when he’s pouting.”
Mick rides slowly back to the barn, Rosetta on her horse beside him. Finally dismounting, he gives Rosetta’s cheek a stroke with the back of his hand. “Thank you,” he says softly. “For just being you.”
Turning, he heads inside with Rosetta behind him to unsaddle the horses.
Heading down the aisle, he turns a corner but stops abruptly, spinning back around and holding out his arm to stop Rosetta as well, guiding her back a ways.
A laugh sticks in his throat and chokes him as he coughs it out, his cheeks gaining some color in them. He leans up against the wall, his eyes wanting to go wide, but he squints them almost shut instead.
“Unless you want to see my brother making out with Mel, don’t turn that corner,” he whispers. Covering his eyes with his hand, his shoulders start to shake, proving the humor he finds in this. Oh how he’d love to barge in on them, but he would feel too awful.
Wyatt grins. He can’t remember the last time he’s had this kind of fun. Hefting Aerith up further on his back, he carefully splashes through the water, finally sloshing up onto the shore where he lets her down. Running a hand through his drenched hair, he lets out a sigh. ‘Well…I didn’t think I would have to bring spare clothes along today.” He chuckles. “At least the water feels good on a hot one like this afternoon.”
He cocks his head to a couple nice big, flat rocks closeby. “I don’t know about you, but after this adventure, I’m ready to take it easy for a while and wait for those terrified fish to come back.”
Making his way over to the rock, he sets himself down, stretching out on his back to let the sun dry him and his clothes. He gestures for Aerith to join him.
Reese watches from his seat by the basket of food, a smile quirking his lips. Memories ran through his mind of a time he’d been in his son’s position. Oh how sweet it had been. He closes his eyes for a moment, reminiscing. Those happy moments had been gone a long time, but he still held them in his heart.

Mid Day
*As Katie stairs back into Scott's eyes all emotion coming forward. This spark with Scott had come up fast, unexspected. God had given her what she needed when she needed it. Scott was differnt from most people. There was just something about him that shined. Through those glasses, and those button up shirts he use to wair something had shown through and captured Katie's heart. As the sweat drips down from Katie's face a smile passes over her lips. She was hot the sweat dripped from her face and tired herself was tired, but Katie dident care. This moment was to good to pass up. Bringing her hands to Scotts face her smile grows. Leaning in her heart races as she lips gently pass his lips pulling back alittle Katie smiles and whistpers.*
"Thank you for everything Scott."
*Leaning in Katie press her lips to Scott more hermly this time. Leting them linger together for a long time. Taking in the sweetness that was refreshing, the emotions rushing over her.*
*Wendy cant help but beam as she watches Clint and his family. They looked so happy, and so excited. It filled Wendy with joy to be part of that happyness. Wendy cant help but giggle alittle herself of the jokes being thrown around. Receving Jim wink Wendy beams even more. As everyone steps off the pourch Wendy sling a sisterly arm around Ty and the other in a more loving mannor around Clint. While Rosalynn in on the other side. A grin cross Katie's face as she leans forward looking at her, ty and than Clint.*
"Actully you boys are going to have 2 of use to deal with. Ty if you hang around Clint alot you will have to lean to deal with me. We like dont go anyways without eachother...SO PREPAIR FOR....THE HARASSMENT OF YOUR LIFE."
*Wendy cant help but giggle as both her hands slip from the boys shoulders. Her one hand finding Clint's ribs as the other finding Ty's. Her giggles ring out as she makes a b-line running across the yard.*
*BJ lets out a scream as Con grabs his ankles.*
"Ohz no....Help help."
*Bj turns and falls backwards onto Con's stomach landing with a giggle. Jamie stands and goes over to Con look at Bj giving a nod. Jamie grabs Con's on arm and holds it.*
"I got him Bj I got him...go now now now."
*Still siting on Con's chest BJ reaches down and tickles Con on the side his fingers light and probley doing nothing to the tanks sides but BJ Laughs anyways thinking he is tickling Con.*
"SAY UNCI...wifh whipcream and cherrys on top."
*Maggie sits still with Jamie watching the butterfly. Softly speaking herself.*
"They...are so pretty. Your like a butterfly too. So am I. We are both soft and delikit. Yet strong, and differnt. Thats why Nate loves us. Cuz we need his comfort and strangth but yet we can still stand on our own."
*Still siting still a butterfly starts to flutter around Maggie as she feels the the soft breexe from the wings. Closing her eyes for a moment and than opening them Maggie looks cross eyed as the butterfly lands on her nose and stairs at her. Maggie cant help but softly giggle.
Nate leands up aganst a tree his arms crossed as he looks out into the field. Watching Laura and Maggie silently for a long while. How happy, and peceful they look. It made Nate happy to see Laura connect and get along with Maggie. Not scaired to spend time with her. Nate says nothing but just watches the two most important people in his life.*
*Aerith cant help but laugh as they watch Reese walk out of the water than looks abck at Wyatt splashing water at him than growing serouse for just a moment.*
"Thank you Wyatt. This day was more than I could ask for."
*Aerith smiles again as continues to cling to Wyatt's back. Aerith cant help but giggle again as she leans her chin on Wyatt's shoulder and lets out a small sigh giving him a kiss on the cheek.*
Incredible
Scott is hot, sweaty, and breathing heavily by the time they reach their destination. But the view itself captures his mind.
Looking out across the land, it's a breathtaking sight. Katie's excitement is contagious and he just stares, picking out people and horses around the buildings. "Incredible," he whispers. He hadn't brought his camera...he hadn't thought it wise as rough as the trail was, but he now wished he had it. A faint idea sparks in his mind though that he tucks away for later.
As Katie takes his hand, he gives it a little squeeze. "Thank you, Katie...for sharing this with me." He turns to see her eyes, and gives his head a little shake. "You wish for the kind of strength you see in the people here...yet you've overlooked your own."
His palm caresses the side of her face. "Don't forget that you're standing here now as living proof that you have inherited that strength." Gazing into her eyes, he sees the world reflected. "Incredible," he whispers again.
Clint looks to Wendy, grateful for her support, and finally lets go of her hand to enter the bunkhouse himself. Standing in front of Ty, both are quiet for a moment until Clint finally holds out his hand. "Start over?"
Ty studies the hand for a moment, then finally accepts it. "Yeah."
A smile makes its way to Clint's face. "It's stuffy in here...can't we all go outside or something?" His stomach growls loudly and Rosalynn rolls her eyes.
"I hear your brain again, Clint."
He throws her a withering look, then glances back to Ty. "This is the kind of abuse you missed out on."
Ty can't help but give a little chuckle. "I think I could have handled it."
"Well now you'll have to," Rosalynn states decidedly. "Having two brothers to tease is going to be fun."
"Yeah, but.." Clint's eyes light up. "Now I won't be alone!"
Jim shakes his head and laughs at the three siblings, slipping his arm over his wife's shoulders. He glances out to Wendy and throws her a wink, having accepted a long while before that she was just as much a part of this family as anybody. "So are we going to stand around all day, or are we going to go rustle up some grub before Clint's brain dies from hunger?"
A tear lingers in Cindy's eye, but Wes' comfort doesn't let her sorrow stay. "I hope you're right," she replies quietly. "He's changed so much...sometimes I wonder if I should never have let him get involved with TJY...how things might have been more normal for him..." She gives a deep sigh. "But then...I wouldn't have found you."
Con wanders back into the mess hall, after having seen Jason head out towards the barns instead. He aims inside, going back to the living room, hearing Jamie and BJ laughing. Entering the room, he pauses for just a minute, watching them interact. He couldn't deny that even though the scene made him happy, there was a small part of him that slipped disappointment in there somewhere as he thought about his possible future with Jamie, and some of the impossibilities there.
Shaking his head, he comes into the living room quickly, diving head first onto the carpet to sprawl out, his arms grabbing BJ around he ankles. "I got him, I got him!"
Laura sits in the tall grass in one of the empty pastures with Maggie, being very still and quiet, waiting for the butterflies to come land on the flowers. "Look," she whispers. A monarch had just come to light on a black eyed susan. A smile creases Laura's lips, and she keeps her voice low. "Isn't it pretty?"
Wyatt is taken by surprise as Aerith joins them in the river. As she comes up out of the water and pounces on his back, he's knocked off balance and takes them both under for a moment before getting back on his feet, his hands holding onto Aerith's ankles to steady her on his back. "You twerp!" He spits water out and shakes his head, but his longer hair is still matted down into his face and eyes.
Reese laughs and trudges up towards the bank, water splashing everywhere. "You two go ahead and stay drenched. This old man wants to get dry and get something to eat."
Wyatt grins, twisting his head around to see Aerith. "Scaring fish? That's nothing. I think we just scared my dad."
My eyes
*Katie smiles seeing the joy, and happyness in Scott's eyes. As Scott draws close to her and she receves it, Katies hands make there way to his back. It was hot out, and katie was sweaty along with Scott, but Katie dident mind. Scott's kiss was like a refreshing burst. Finally drawing away Katie smiles at Scott.*
"I wouldent have wanted to miss it eather. We better go before we dont make it the spot."
*Taking Scott's hand Katie slowly leads him thought the cave taking it slow. Scott dosent need to say anything but Katie knows enough that he is probley alittle sore. Minues past and time flys by but finally Katie and Scott draw near to another opening in the back of the cave. Exiting they wrap around the side of the moutain heading up alittle ways. Finally coming to another clearing and flat area. Beaming Katie leads Scott to the edge. Looking out into the distince the rance is in plane view. They are far enough away to have no one notice them, but close enough to make out people, and buildings. From up here the ranch was so clear.*
"Welcome to the R/M Ranch from my view."
*The air felt cool up here dispite the heat. The View was amazing. Point Katie potins out differnt building. The tree were so green, and the gardens. Wes and Cindy's house could even be made out. The look, the feeling to Katie could descripe.*
"There is the barn. oh look you can see the horses grazing."
*Katie's eyes glow as she over looks the ranch and shairs the view with Scott. People can be made out from up here as well. Pointing to the mess hall swing Katie giggles.*
"Look its Wes and Cindy, and over there...."
*Katie words trail off as her excitment shows. Than drawing silent Katie turns to Scott.*
"I know to some this isent much but to me, this is just my spot. I can over look the ranch, and its peacful here. I'm happy I got to shair this with you Scott. Your the first to see what I see. Not an ordanry ranch, but a safe haven for so many people who need hope. This is family, friends, people who can keep hope when its hopeless. This is home. My aunt and her friends, they have stuck through so many years together. No matter what they always came back to eachother. I hope I'm that strong to when faced with trials."
*Katie slips her hand into Scott and she continues to over look the ranch. Scaning, watching, smiling. It had been a long time since she was up here but it was still the same as it always was.*
*Wendy feels Clint's hand tighter just a bit. Her own tears welling in her eyes at the happy scene infront of her. A new hope was givin to this family. God had found his way through again. Looking to Clint Wendy gives alittle nod.*
"Go on, its ok."
*Wendy keeps her smile urging Clint to go to his brother. This could be the only chanse he got.*
*Wes smiles kiss his wifes forhead and drawing his arm around her alittle bit tighter. He new she was worryed about Jason. It was a mothers job to do that.Giving alittle sigh Wes rocks the swing gently with his feet.*
"He's confused and not sure where he fits in anymore. Prison did a number on him, but through the pain there is hope and he is going to be ok Cindy. Things will become normal for him again in time. We just have to keep praying and have faith that God will work in Jason's life. Everything will be ok."
*Wes leans his head aganst his wifes. This was a hard time for everyone. Not knowing what tomarrow held. My questions un answered, and time lost wishing to be returned. All they could do was enjoy the moments they had left and not let one pass them by. God was at work here one way or another. He had a plane for this for all this, and thats what Wes clinged to the most knowing it would be ok.*
*As the cold water hits Aerith she lets out alittle shreek than ends in a laugh. Her eyes filling with joy.*
"Hey Hey now thats not fair mister."
*Giving a shrug and relizing she is wet already Aerith slips the rest of the way in the water spalshing about*
"Your gonna pay for that Mister."
*Waiding her way through the water Aerith makes her way over to Wyatt and leeping in the air to jump on his back only to miss and land in the water going under for a moment. Than poping back up with great force and sending water everywhere Aerith jumps on Wyatt's back locking her arms around his neck. The laughter ringing out though the air.*
"Your scairing away all the fish you know!"
Sweet Moments
Jason is silent until he and Con reach a fair distance away from the mess hall, near one of the pastures. Con follows quietly, unsure what his young friend has brought him here to say.
Jason leans up against the fence and doesn't say anything for several long moments, though sensing Con's anticipation behind him. Finally he turns around, looking up at Con's eyes. "I'm sorry," he apologizes quietly. "I've been a jerk to you."
Con folds his arms across his chest and cocks his head. "Well...yeah...you have been...but I forgive you."
Unsure what else to say, Jason looks down. He'd always valued his friendship with Con, even through the years that he hadn't let anyone close. Con had always been there no matter what - a big brother looking out for him, even when Jason had been too proud to accept help.
Con can sense Jason's awkwardness, and makes the next move. "All I want is to be friends again...I miss seeing you around, and I hate this rift."
"Me too." Jason glances back up at him. "I shouldn't have left like I did."
"Eh...maybe you needed to get out of my place if I was rubbing you the wrong way. I'm sorry if you felt I'd betrayed you. That wasn't my intention at all."
"I know...I just...I guess I've lost a lot, but it's all been my fault and...I just started blaming other people and then...." Jason's eyes drift downward again. "I didn't know how to pick myself back up...I still don't think I know."
"Aw, Jase..." Con sighs and reaches out to pull Jason into a rough hug. "It's not bad to ask for help you know."
Jason returns Con's brotherly hug. "Asking for directions isn't exactly my forte."
Con chuckles and holds Jason out at arm's length, his hands on his shoulders. "You don't have to be good at it." He searches his young friend's eyes. "You're gonna be okay, Jason."
For some reason, Con's words strike Jason hard, and he can suddenly feel his emotions highten, threatening to spill over. Afraid if he meets Con's eyes again he'll break, he glances away again. "Thanks, Con."
"Anytime." Con pulls Jason back toward the mess hall, an arm slung over his shoulders for just a moment to give him a friendly jolt. "Now come on...it's water under the bridge. Let's have a good time today."
Scott continues to follow Katie, gladly letting her take the lead as he's completely turned around by the time they reach the small clearing. Mimicking Katie's movements with her horse, he ties Crimson up, and continues to follow into the cave.
Taking in the sights and sounds, he quietly absorbs it. As they stop near the waterfall, his eyes are lit with the excitement of adventure he's never experienced before. He reaches out to let the cold water run over his hand, feeling the freshness, opposite the city water he was used to.
"This is amazing," he comments, his eyes still roving the cave. He was already getting sore and could feel himself getting tired from the physical work he wasn't used to, but it was well worth it and he wasn't about to complain or lead on to Katie that he was feeling that way.
Drawing closer to her, a smile plays at the corner of his mouth. "Good thing Crimson didn't break my neck this morning. Otherwise I would have missed this." Reaching out, his fingers brush Katie's cheek before he leans in to place a tender kiss on her lips. "I wouldn't have missed this for the world."
Clint keeps his fingers wrapped around Wendy's as he, Becky and Rosalynn head out of the mess hall towards the bunk where Ty is. Halfway there, Jim emerges from the barn and spots them. Starting to walk, he finally stops at a distance. Clint, Wendy and Rosalynn stop as Becky covers the ground to her husband and they embrace, holding each other for a long moment. Clint cocks his head and glances to his sister, who gives him a smile. Whether they'd seen it before or not, and whether they fully understood it or not, their parents were examples to them of what love was all about.
After Jim and Becky converse quietly for several minutes, they finally head to the bunk, gesturing for the others to follow.
A knock at the door startles Ty and he sits up from the bed where he'd been slouched, thinking. He really wasn't in the mood for any more company, but with as many people as there were around here, it was inevitable. "Yeah?"
Jim cautiously opens the door and steps through the doorway, the others barely within Ty's view. "Ty..."
Ty bristles and stands. "Now what?"
Clint can hear Ty's strained voice, and swallows hard. This was partially his own fault for getting so upset. His grip automatically tightens a little on Wendy's hand.
Jim looks at his son, emotions filling his eyes. "I don't think it would be worth it, trying to apologize again...there's nothing I can do to replace lost years, or make up for what you didn't know...the lies you lived under. But...please give your family a chance. We care...we just want to get to know you, whether you'll accept us as your family or not."
Ty crosses his arms in defense, though Wendy's previous words replay in his mind. "It just ain't that easy though, is it?"
"No...it's not," Jim agrees. "This has been a shock to all of us. But please, Ty...please just have an open mind?"
Becky steps into the doorway and puts a hand on Jim's arm so he can step out of the way. As her eyes fall on her son, tears fill her eyes. It had been close to twenty years now since she had laid eyes on him...he'd been so small...just a baby in her arms.
Ty's eyes widen slightly. He didn't need an introduction. He knew immediately who this was. He recognized it...he felt it. This was his mother. His pulse quickens just a little and has a hard time not letting his emotions show. His upbringing by his adopted family had been less than perfect...less than loving. Secretly, he'd always longed to find his real family and have a movie-like reunion with hugs and the whole bit. But he was too realistic to ever believe that would happen. And yet...here before him was his father...his brother...his mother. Could he deny himself the joy of finally finding his real family? And discovering that they hadn't given him up because they'd hated him?
Becky takes a couple more steps forward and just reaches out to touch Ty's face as if checking to make sure he's real. "You're so tall." A laugh gets stuck in her throat, in between a couple tears. "You look so much like your father...and I see your grandfather in there too."
Ty stands awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
Becky looks up at his eyes, begging him for acceptance. "We're so sorry...can you forgive us?"
Seeing his father had been one thing...taking the words from a man had been one thing....but seeing his own mother now...the tears...the love in her eyes...the tenderness in her voice... it was enough to make any man break, even a stubborn twenty-year-old. "I think so," he manages in almost a whisper.
A smile creases Becky's lips, despite another tear that rolls down her cheek. "Can I hug you?"
Ty's eyebrow raises. He couldn't remember the last time he'd received a hug. He hadn't even let Jim close enough today. "I...I guess...so..."
Becky doesn't need affirmation twice, and reaches out to wrap her arms around her long lost son.
Clint gives Wendy's hand a squeeze as they watch from the porch. Rosalynn sniffs as her own tears come forth.
After a long embrace, Becky finally steps back, giving Ty a teary smile. "I can't thank God enough for bringing you back to us. If only for a day...if only for an hour..." She glances over her shoulder and waves Rosalynn in. "This is your sister, Ty."
Ty is moved again, looking at this pretty young woman. He could tell she and Clint were twins - they looked different in many ways, but so alike as well. "Um...hi."
"Hi." Rosalynn smiles and steps forward to give him a hug just as her mother had. "All this time I thought my baby brother was dead...and here you are..." A laugh escapes. "I can't believe it."
Despite the positive reunion, Ty hangs his head. He'd done a miserable job of taking the news earlier. He'd hated it here...he'd hated Jim and Clint...but now...something, somehow, had softened him. "I....I'm sorry," he mumbles.
Jim steps forward and lays a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay...I know this isn't easy for you."
"It's not..." Ty's eyes drift back up. "But...I...I guess...I don't have anyone else I'd call family."
The stillness settles over the room for just a moment before Jim can't hold it in any longer, and pulls his son into a firm embrace, tears filling his own eyes. "Thank you, God," he whispers, "for bringing my son back."
Clint cocks his head, having a hard time not letting tears fill his own eyes. His hand remains in Wendy's as he watches the scene in front of him.
"Mm." Cindy smiles and closes her eyes, leaning her head back into Wes' arm. "Your two favorite people are tired, but happy nonetheless." Her fingers stroke Wes' hand lovingly.
Opening her eyes again, she turns her head to see her husband's face. Her look showed the expanse of what she was feeling....she was so happy...so content in Wes' arms. Yet there was still concern for her son. She'd witnessed that he was well and healthy, but she'd also seen the pain. "How is Jason?"
Still standing in the water, Wyatt puts his hands on his hips, giving Aerith a playful smirk. "Oh, I look better wet, do I? Why don't we see if it works the same for you?" Cupping both hands, he scoops up a quick wave of water, sending it in Aerith's direction.
Reese lets out a hearty laugh, no longer caring that he was standing in the water, drenched to the bone. Seeing Wyatt and Aerith having fun was the best thing he could have done on a day like today.
Inside waterfall
*Katie continues on the path glancing every once and a while behind her. Seeing Scott falling behind Katie pulls back alittle offering him a smile.*
"Sorry I'm going fast. "
*Continuing along the moutain going up. There is finally a flat patch of land. sarrounded by trees still nothing much can be seem. Except for whats in front of both riders.
Smiling Katie dismounts and leads her horse to a nearby tree tieing the horse up.*
"This is where we stop riding. The horses cant make it the rest of the way. So we go on foot. The horses will be ok here. There is shade and grass for them to eat."
*Katie pulls out a few water bottled from the horses pack, and puts them in a bag, along with a lite lunch she had packed. Slining the bag over her shoulder she waits for Scott to rejoin her and than heads for an opening in the side of the wall.
Entering light shines through the cracks, the sound of water driping, and the light relecting off the drops causing patterns dance on the wall. Its much cooler in this cave than outside. As Katie leans on deeper into the cave the sound of rushing water can be hurd. Turning a courner a flood of light shows though the one side of the cave wall. Water rushing over the opening on the outside making a water fall. Katie stands next to Scott smiling.*
"Last time I was up here this was dryed up. I'm glad I get to see it with you."
*Katie crosses a few rocks drawing closer to water fall. The soft misty landing on her face, as the water bubbles around her feet. Looking over at Scott Kaite smiles, the water light bouncing off her face causing it to glow.*
*As Con ruffles BJ's hair and tell him to watch Jamie he stands up laugh and jumps into Jamie's lap spralling out across her arms and legs.*
"I dot you now. I DOT HER FOR YOU CON."
*Jamie cant help but laugh drawing her hands out from under BJ and having them meed his sids as she tickles him. Enjoying his squerming and laughing.*
*As Clint requests Wendy to come with him and his family she smile grows even more as a warm feeling fills her heart. It felt nice that Clint wanted her to come with him. Looking at Becky and searching her eyes to make sure it was ok Wendy nods geting her answer.*
"I wouldent mind at all."
*Wendy tightens her grib slightly on Clint's hand. Though Clint and Wendy spent almost every moment dident mind. She loved being around Clint and could never grow tired of his presence around her. *
*Wes exits the shop shuting the door behind him. He felt good. Spending the little bit of time with Jason had been nice. Making his way to the mess hall Wes can see Cindy on the swing. Smiling her jumps up the steps and slowly comes to sit down next to her.Geting her a kiss than Puting his one arm around the back of her to hold her lightly Wes puts his other hand On Cindy's stomach ever so gently.*
"How are my two favrote people doing?"
*Wes beams at his wife. The feeling and relization of being a daddy growing every day as his excitment is hard to hold in at times. Wes couldent be happyer.*
*As Aerith and Wyatt's kiss comes to an abropt end and is left alone she cant help but sit there for a momet blinking. Not being able to move for a moment. Her mind still foggy from the kiss, and her world still spinng. Finally though everything stop and Aerith slowly stands hearing the two men. Coming to the bank Aerith steps up on one of the rocks. Leting out a giggle as she listened to Reese and Wyatt. Hearing the comment about cooling off Aerith's own cheeks start to grow alittle red. Trying not to let the embaressment get the best of her she kicks off her shoes.*
"Do you relize you scairing the fish away right."
*Slowly lowering herself on the rock Aerith puts her feet and legs into the water. Watching Wyatt and Reese inter act. They were funny she couldent help but laugh.*
"Personaly Wyatt I think you look even better with your hair wet."
Splash
Jason’s eyebrows raise. He knew good and well who Wes was referring to, and it hit him hard. He hadn’t even acknowledged Katie’s presence today. But she’d been with Scott…he didn’t want to make it awkward for her, not to mention, the look in Scott’s eyes warned him that he was still scared to death of him. Besides, what was Jason supposed to say? “Hi” just didn’t seem to cut it.
Turning, Jason walks quietly to the door, opting not to converse any more with Wes right now. Heading out of the shop, he stands lamely for a few moments, feeling lost without a destination.
Wes’ words return. “…you’d have that last moment to say what you really wanted to a lot of people…”
Jason gives a little sigh. There was more than one person he needed to talk to, even if he didn’t know what to say to Katie.
Aiming for the mess hall, his walk is slow. He enters quietly through the front. Seeing Clint and his family at the other end, he just gives him a small wave, knowing that there was a lot going on in that family right now, and he wasn’t going to interrupt.
Hearing Con’s voice from the living room, he heads in that direction, but now notices a stranger sitting at the near table.
Greg looks up as Jason enters the room, his eyes going wide. “You’ve got to be Austin’s grandson.”
Jason looks to him with a bit of surprise and pauses his route to approach the table. “I am. And you are…?”
“Greg Timble.” Greg stands up, offering his hand.
Jason accepts the gesture, repeating the name in his mind. “Do I know you?”
“Not that I know of.” Greg chuckles. “But I know the gang here from quite a ways back… I did a lot with Mick up in Montana. Becky and Rosalynn have been staying with me.”
“Oh, I see.” Jason nods, trying to piece it all together. “Well…nice to meet you.”
“Likewise.” Greg smiles, just studying Jason’s face. How he looked like Austin.
Jason picks his route back up to the living room. Reaching the doorway, he stops, a small grin toying at his mouth. Con was sitting cross legged on the floor, taking up the entire space between the coffee table and the couch. Jamie was on the other side and BJ was at the end, all engrossed in some kind of game.
He leans on the doorframe for a few moments just watching. That was peace. That was happiness.
Feeling someone watching him, Con instinctively looks up. Seeing Jason, he raises an eyebrow in question.
Jason clears his throat awkwardly. “Got a minute?”
Con cocks his head the other direction. “What’s that?”
“You got a minute?” Jason repeats a little louder.
Con looks to Jamie, not wanting to miss a chance to finally exchange words with his friend. “I’ll be right back.” Getting up, he roughs up BJ’s hair playfully. “Make sure she doesn’t cheat while I’m gone.” He heads over to Jason, trying to suppress his own surprise at being spoken to. “What’s up?”
Jason nods to the door. “Take a walk?”
Scott does his best to keep up with Katie, taking in the sights and sounds like a sponge. Seeing the deer, a smile creases his lips, and he continues the route, following Katie’s path. He was embarrassed by his rough start, but was beginning to forget about it, despite his muscles reminding him that the next day might be a bit unpleasant.
As they rode over rough terrain that grew steeper and rose higher, Scott had just a bit more trouble keeping up, but he didn’t give up, determined not to make Katie wait or need to look after him too much.
Clint squeezes Wendy’s hand, grateful for her support. “Actually…Wendy…would you mind coming with me?” He looks to his mom and sister, receiving looks that convey they don’t mind at all. Glancing back to Wendy, his eyes question her.
Cindy eases down on the porch swing, letting the breeze cool her down from the day’s heat. She hadn’t seen Wes or Jason in a while, and hoped that things were going well.
Wyatt’s arms find their way around Aerith as their exchange lingers, drawn into it until he loses track of time altogether. This feeling…this moment…he wanted them to never end.
Splash!
Wyatt’s thoughts are shattered as the loud noise in the river disrupts the quiet around them. His eyes fly open and he withdraws from Aerith quickly, looking back over his shoulder just in time to see his father come up from the water a ways down, spitting and sputtering.
Reese mutters under his breath, feeling stupid for having stepped out onto that log. But it was too late now. The water was not rough, but it’s just deep enough and flowing just fast enough to carry him down towards Wyatt and Aerith. Giving up on getting back to his starting place, Reese lets the water take him down, and swims toward the shoreline.
Wyatt’s eyes widen and he gets up, leaving Aerith to walk the several feet to the water’s edge, climbing out onto a rock. “You alright?” he calls.
Reese grimaces. “Just help me up out of here before I make any more a fool out of myself.”
Wyatt withholds his laughter, and leans down to give his father a hand before he passes the rock. Reese grabs hold and finally gets his feet under himself, able to stand up again. As Wyatt’s pulling him up onto the rock however, his foot slips.
One minute, Wyatt is standing firm on the rock, the next, he’s being pulled head first toward the cool water. “Dad!”
Too late. Wyatt plunges into the river.
“Wyatt!” Reese gets back to his feet, though a bit unsteady on some moss-covered, underwater rocks, and looks around frantically for a moment.
Wyatt comes up just a few feet away, managing to stand up on his own and spitting out water.
Reese splashes over to him. “You okay?”
“No, I’m not okay!” Wyatt pushes his sopping hair back out of his face. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Well I slipped, okay?!”
“You could have warned me!”
“I thought you had a better grip!”
“Well I didn’t!”
Reese throws his arms in the air. “What are you complaining about? You needed to cool off anyway!”
Wyatt opens his mouth to retort, but stops, rendered speechless as he realizes his father had witnessed him and Aerith. "I..."
Reese gives his son’s chest a humorous backhanded slap. “Get yourself out of this river. You look ridiculous.”

Making memories today
*Finishing up a few things and finally geting the moter on the bike running again Wes lets out a hall chuckle*
"I new if I asked you we could figure it out. Br. Brown will be happy to get this back finally."
*Standing and whiping his hands off on a rage Wes looks down at Jason for a moment. The look on his face said it all. Turning Wes heads for the door into the bathroom to clean up a bit before heading out of the shop. Stoping he turns to Jason.*
"You can go now if you want Jason I am sure you have other stuff to do than be cooped up in here the whole day."
*Turn back around and entering the bathroom Wes makes one last statment before the door shut, talking loud enough for Jason to hear him.*
"You know just cuz she is here with someone alse dosent mean you cant say Hi to her. She still probley wants to spend alittle time with you to. She still cares. At least this time Jason, if everything goes bad, you'd have that last moment to say what you really wanted to alot of people. Dont let pass you by, you never know when there might not be a tomarrow and than you live in regret. We cant go back and change the past, but we can make up for it and learn from it.*"
*Katie cringes a bit as Scott is thrown from the horse. I slight fear running through her that Scott might be hurt. But staying put she lets Jeff handle it. Katie didn’t want Scott to feel worse than he probley already did. Seeing him get up Katie lets out a sigh of relief. Watching closely Katie’s smile grows as Scott gets back on the horse determined not to give up.
After a few more minutes Scott rides up to Katie. Shaking her head she can’t help but smile.*
“It might have been entertaining but we all go through it. I took a few spills myself when I first started. Not to mention even the most experience rider like Rosetta or Mick could take a spill at any moment as well. It’s just something that happened. I’m awfully proud of you though Scott. Not many first timers get back on after a fall and that’s when they never ride again, because of fear. You over came that. If you can do that than you can do anything.”
*Smiling again Katie can’t help but let her eyes beam. She new this was going to be a great afternoon. Giving a nod to her Uncle Katie turns back to Scott.*
“If you need to stop at all on the ride don’t hesitate to yell and we can stop and walk alittle bit on foot.”
*Turning Katie clicks her tong and gives alittle squeeze with her legs causing Rocket to jolt forward. Steering him towards the back of the ranch and onto the less traveled path in the woods. Stopping her horse again Katie points up past the trees to the mountains in the distance.*
“See that, that’s were we are going. To the mountains.”
*Katie lets out a sigh for a moment her gaze drifting to Wes shop for an unexplained moment, as the thought of Jason popped into her head. It was late afternoon, and still since she saw Jason was there he hadn’t said a word to her. Not even a hi. Leting out alittle sigh Katie resumes her smile. She was happy to shair the ranch from her eyes with Scott.
Moving forward again Katie smiles and leads Scott along the winding path. In certin parts Katie had to dismount and move stuff out of the way. This path wasent traveled much. And since she left the ranch it probley hadent been. She was the only one who new the secret of the moutain.
Going on for about an hour the moutains draw closer. It wonder be long now. Slowling down on the path Katie comes to a stop smiling. Moving her hand for Scott to pull up along side Rocket Katie points out into the wooded bramble. At first glance it was dingy, scary, and not fun to look at. Whispering Katie turns to Scott.*
"Look closer."
*As Katie looked back to the bramble she squinted her own eyes. In the middle was a green patch with little white flowers, and in the middle was a baby fawn curled up next to its mother. As Rocket gives alittle snort both the fawn and its mother look up and right at Katie and Scott. As Katie stairs back the deers eyes so big, so much peace flowed in them. Giving a smile Katie nods to Scott to start moving again letng the two animles in peace. Speaking softly as they ride.*
"That one of God's wonderus way to let us know, even when things look ugly and when it feels like the life is being choked out, there is still something amazing and wonderful waiting to be discovered in the middle of hate, anger, fear and sadness."
*Katie rides on with Scott taking it slow. The path was becoming more rocky now, and Scott still being unexperanced Katie dident want an accedent to happen from moving to fast. Keep up the small talk, joking, teasing. Katie was having a great time.*
*Wendy beams when she see Becky and Rosalynn returning there hugs and offering there greetings. Standing back she lets teh family reunite and just listens to them talk a smile on her face to see them happy. Her ears perk up though at the mention of TY as she steps up again and smiles.*
"Last time I new Ty was in his bunk. Maybe you guys can round up Jim and all go see him. I think he has cooled about alittle too."
*Wendy turns and smiles at Clint.*
"Go with your family. I'll be here when your done. You havent see them in a while, you have alot of catching up to do."
*Wendy smiles and gives Clint a soft kiss on the cheek.*
*Aerith brights her hand behind Wyatt's head as her other slimming around his waist and to his back to gently hold him as she feels his passion grow, returning it ten fold. Many thoughts ran throgh Aeriths mind, the butterfly fluttering fast in her tummy. This feeling, this emotion, Aerith had waiting along time to let anyone this close to her. It had been well worth the wait, and it felt even more special to shair the first kiss of her life with someone that felt the same emotion she did, Someone who shined in the light of God and shaired him glory with her.It was nice to know that no matter what happend tomarrow, this moment would live on and would never forget the man who opend her eyes to a new and wonderful world.*
*Rosetta turns saying nothing she wraps her arms around him. Words would not what to come. What could she say. Tomarrow, could change something for the good or for the bad. Nothing more could be done than sit, wait and let Lockheart do her job. Keeping her strong embrace around Mick, for now Rosetta dident want to let go.*
Needing somebody
Jason helps Wes with the bike for a while, tinkering with the engine, and puttering around the shop. After a while though, he gradually steps back to the side, just observing, a bit of awkwardness returning. He felt like he should go do something, or be with someone…but there was nothing he could really do, and no one to do it with. He’d already spoken to his mother…Jade was busy…and anyone else had other people they were doing things with. He felt a bit like a lame duck at the moment.
As Wyatt hears Aerith’s whisper and feels her lips return to his, his heart races. Returning the kiss timidly at first, he lets it linger, gradually letting his confidence build until he dares to let his gentle passion through. Reaching to the side of Aerith’s face, his palm caresses her cheek as he kisses her warmly, taking in the moment without regret. The taste was sweet. The exchange was tender.
Clint smirks at Wendy. “Alright. We can get something to eat. Though I dare say IF there’s anything left, it’s gonna be cold.”
Slinging an arm around her shoulder, they head to the mess hall. Upon entering, Clint suddenly stops, seeing his mother and sister at the far end, just sitting down with several others.
Becky looks up, a smile immediately forming. “Clint!”
Rosalynn jumps up from her seat and runs across the room to throw her arms around her twin.
Clint chuckles and swings his sister around. “What? You act like you haven’t seen me in years!”
“That’s what it feels like.” Rosalynn giggles. She turns to give Wendy a hug too. “Oh, it’s so good to be back!”
Becky is next in line, giving both hugs. She looks to Clint with question. And is just about to ask, when he nods at her. “Yeah, he talked to me.”
Tears glisten in Becky’s eyes. “I’m so sorry, Clint. I know this must be hard on you.”
“Yeah, well…what can we do?” Clint shrugs. “Someone pointed out that this is a chance most people never get so…I guess I need to be more grateful than mad.”
Becky gives her son a proud smile. “Is your father around here?”
“I haven’t seen him since…” Clint grimaces just a little. He may feel better after talking with Wendy, but he certainly hadn’t helped things earlier. “Um…it didn’t exactly go well earlier. Ty and I were both a bit upset.”
“Ty, huh?”
“Yeah.” Clint nods, giving his mother a small smile. “That’s what he goes by.”
Becky swallows hard. “Where is he?”
Clint shakes his head. “I don’t know.”
Mick dismounts his horse as well, and follows Rosetta slowly. As she stops and speaks, his arm finds its way around her shoulder. “As long as you’re safe,” he says quiet. “As long as you don’t let them take you or BJ. No matter what it takes...I couldn’t bear the thought of you behind bars.”
Turning Rosetta so she’ll look at him, Mick stares her in the eye. “If we lose this tomorrow, the Agency will be pleased. Don’t let them win by allowing it to happen to you.”
“Come on, Sparky, take a break.”
Sparky throws another hay bale down from the loft, landing feet from Mel. “Life doesn’t stop because a court hearing is tomorrow.”
“No, but it might stop because of it,” Mel counters. “Come on…you’ve got family and friends here…” She looks up at him from the barn aisle. “Spend some time with them before it’s too late.”
Sparky pauses in his work, wiping the sweat from his brow. “They’ve all got things they’re doing already. I would just interrupt. Being by myself isn’t the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Yeah, well I know someone who’s feeling pretty down about this whole thing, who would just like to be told it’s going to be okay, but they don’t have anybody to go to.”
Sparky quirks an eyebrow, his compassion kicking in. “Who?”
Mel lets her eyes drop. “Me.”
Sparky gives a little sigh and takes off his gloves. He slowly makes his way down the ladder to stand in front of Mel. “I’m sorry. You’re right. I should be spending time with other people. I guess…I just didn’t want to stop and think about tomorrow, so I opted to keep my hands busy instead.”
Mel looks back up at him and forces a short, dry laugh. “Sparky Henson, you’re the most difficult man I’ve ever met.” She stops. “No, I take that back. Your brother is worse. But I at least thought I’d have a chance with you.”
Sparky can feel a bit of heat rising up his neck. He’d liked Mel since she’d arrived at the ranch…he’d taken her side when others hadn’t believed her, and he’d entertained thoughts of forming something more than just a surface friendship. But things had happened…he’d gotten busy…he hadn’t pursued anything just because…well, maybe he hadn’t thought he’d had much of a chance either with someone like Mel, even though she did flirt with him. She’d been busy, he’d been busy…he just hadn’t jumped on any free chances. Perhaps he’d always been just a little scared that he’d wind up as the disappointed reject. But…in all reality…he still entertained those thoughts of having something more with Mel, and they’d grown even stronger over the passing of time. Every time he sat with her…every time they went riding together…every time he looked at her from across the room. He’d just…he’d…was there really a good reason he hadn’t pursued more like he’d wanted to? Suddenly facing that question, Sparky realizes that he didn’t have an excuse anymore. “Have I been that offish?”
“Not at first.” Mel chuckles, resigning herself to the fact that there were no feelings there, even if it was disappointing. “For a while there I thought maybe there might be a chance for something, but…after it’s been this long, I guess that’s my hint, huh?” She shakes her head. “Though it would be nice if you could just stop working for a few minutes and at least have a glass of lemonade with me or something.”
Sparky cocks his head. Mel had showed interest in him, but…was there really the chance for something more from her perspective? “I didn’t think you cared that much.”
“About lemonade?”
He rolls his eyes. “No…about any possibilities.”
“I’m surrounded by people all day long, Sparky…but that doesn’t mean I’m not lonely. I’ve had chances with a ton of other guys in my life…but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t choose you.”
Innocent
*As Rosetta listens to Mick a sadness comes over her. She hadent really stoped to think about what was to come tomarrow. The though was gut renching, and painful. Rosetta new she could lose everyting. Everything she worked years to get. With one desition tomarrow it could be all gone. Her friends, her family, Mick, the ranch. It all could be stripped away.
Stoping Rosetta dismounts the horse still holding the rains in her hand she heads over to a tree tieing the animel up for now. Pacing the clearing Rosetta finally stops looking beyound the trees and bushes.*
"I wont run Mick. If things go bad tomarrow Mick, BJ and I wont run. We will simply walk away and find a safe place to hide. To start over and wait, wait for you to come back to us again."
*Rosetta turns and looks Mick in the eyes, a silent tear rolling down her cheek.*
"I'll pray with all my heart that dosent happen tomarrow. BJ and I are ready to start our family with you, I dont want to have to lose it again. BJ calls this home now. This ranch, is my life, my everything. You Mick, you mean everything to me too. I just hope I dont have to lose it all over again."
*Rosetta turns away again her mind racing. Tomarrow, Tomarrow would change alot. It would be the start of life over again for many in the open free. or it would be the end of life for alot. Tomarrow everyone's lifes were in God's hands to do what he saw was right and part of his plane.*
*Wendy smiles at Clint. He's come so far from when she first met him. Wendy had gained so much when she first met Clint. A best friend and the best boyfriend ever. He's grown so much since than.*
"How about we grab something to eat first mmmm? You cant honestly believe I think your not hungry?"
*As Wyatt's lips brush Aeriths her pulse starts to quicken, and everything starts to spin slightly. Wyatt's lips done linger long on hers, but Aerith had never been kissed before so it felt longer than it was. A tingly feeling ran through Aerith's body making it feel warm. As if a vail was being removed from her eyes everything seemed a bit brighter as well. The feeling that invoked inside Aerith sent her mind racing, like a wall beind knocked down to the emotions in her heart. Searcing Wyatt's eyes Aerith can see his own emotions and feeling are true not just a fly of the moment whim. What his feelings invoked in her and portrayed were genuien, and for the first time Aerith was ready to receve and give back. Smiling and leaning into Wyatt again, Aerith's heart starts to race a soft whisper escaping from her lips.*
"Its ok!"
* Keeping her hand on the side of his face, Aerith gently brushs her own lips aganst Wyatt's. A bit of hesatence linering. She never kissed anyone before and wasent to sure, how to go about it not wanting to move to fast for Wyatt.*
Promise me
Wyatt’s pulse quickens as he feels Aerith’s touch to his skin. Looking into her eyes, everything around him seems to fade away and time seems to stand still. If only he could make this moment last…if only nothing else really mattered.
He instinctively moves forward towards Aerith, his face inches from her own. The sun shining down on them was warm, the breeze peaceful and mild.
Chances didn’t come everyday. And once one was passed by, it often never came back around again. To seize the moment was to live to the fullest. To take that chance was to risk it all just to never wonder what could have been.
Wyatt tilts his head ever so slightly, bringing his face to Aerith’s. His eyes close for a moment as his lips brush hers, but he pulls back just a little, searching her eyes again, his gaze questioning if it was too much to ask if he wanted to do it again.
Jeff grins at his niece as he steps down off the porch. He knew good and well Katie could handle herself and Scott just fine, but truth be known, he’d wanted to interact with them while he still could, and this was a prime excuse.
Getting into the barn, he helps Scott find a pair of boots, then goes to get Crimson, agreeing the gelding was a good choice.
“Alright…how much do you know?” Jeff ties Crimson in the center of the barn aisle, going to groom him quickly before tacking up.
Scott stands a safe distance away, his arms folded across his chest. “I know the difference between the head and the hind end.”
Jeff chuckles. “That’s a better start than some people have.” He goes about brushing Crimsons’ soft coat quickly, to not waste too much time. “Well, today I’ll just give you the quick learning experience so you Katie won’t be waiting for you all day.”
“That would probably be a good thing. She’d never let me live it down.”
“Ohh…” Jeff grins a little slyly as he works. “I’d say by that look in her eye, she might let it slide if you asked her real nice, but let’s not press our luck.”
Scott’s face reddens just slightly, and he lets that train of thought end there.
It’s not long before Crimson is saddled and Jeff is outside in the small corral, instructing Scott.
Scott can see Katie nearby and tries not to let how nervous he is show.
Jeff gestures to the horse. “Alright, you always mount up from the left side. Left foot in the left stirrup, and swing yourself on up there.”
Scott eyes the saddle, the stirrup, the height. “You know…this is a lot taller than that pony I was on as a kid.”
“Scared?”
“Terrified.”
“Then maybe this isn’t such a good idea.”
Scott sighs, seeing Katie again. “No…I’ll do it.”
“Then try your best to get over that fear, ‘cause the horse will know it’s there.” Jeff pats the saddle again. “Up you go.”
Scott swallows hard and steps forward, taking hold of the saddle and getting his left foot up into the stirrup. Standing for just a moment, he swings up to straddle the horse, having just a little trouble getting his right foot in the other stirrup.
“Alright. See? That’s not so bad, is it?” Jeff looks up at him.
Scott’s hands are on the saddle horn. “No, not at all…what do I have to be afraid of, sitting on half a ton of meat that could kill me if it wanted to?”
Jeff laughs. “Relax. Okay…here are your reins…” He goes into a brief explanation about how to go, stop and turn. “Take him for a spin around the corral just a couple times, then I’ll send you on out with Katie.”
“Great.” Scott takes up his reins and kicks Crimson’s sides lightly to get him walking. After two rounds, he starts to relax a little. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all.
Jeff nods with satisfaction. “You look good – you pick up on it quick, and I’m not just saying that. How about…”
Before he can finish, a gust of wind suddenly takes the side door of the barn, slamming it shut with a loud bang. Crimson, knowing he’s got a novice rider, and being startled by the noise, suddenly takes off.
Jeff’s eyes widen. “Pull back on your reins!” he calls.
Crimson is already at a high lope, turning the far end, and shooting back toward the gate. Scott does as he’s told, and pulls with all his might. To his misfortune, Crimson obeys too well, and skids to a sudden halt.
Momentum, however, carries Scott further. Up and out of the saddle he goes, slipping right over Crimson’s head to do a summersault and land hard on the ground.
Jeff is quick to slide down next to him. “You alright? Scott…are you hurt?”
Scott just lies still for a moment, staring up and blinking, trying to breathe after the wind had gotten knocked out of him. “I…think so.” Rolling over, he picks himself back up, dusting himself off.
“You hurt anywhere?”
Scott tries out all his muscles and rotates his weak wrist gingerly, glad he’d worn his brace today. “Nowhere by my pride,” he admits ruefully.
“Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.”
Scott grits his teeth and looks back at the horse. “If you think I’m going to let this beast get the best of me, you’ve got another thing coming. I’ve got a date, and I’ll not have an animal ruin it for me.”
Jeff starts to grin. “I thought you were afraid.”
“I think adrenaline just overtook that.” Scott grabs his reins and throws them back up over Crimson’s head. Without even waiting for Jeff, he’s in the saddle again. Crimson tries to go forward before he’s ready, and he pulls back sharply. “Oh, no you don’t. Not this time.” Getting his other foot in the stirrup he’s finally settled. “We’re going to try this again, and this time I’m not going to let my guard down!”
After a few more rounds of walking and even trotting just once, Jeff feels its safe enough to let him out to go with Katie.
Slowly riding up to her, Scott stops Crimson by Rocket. “So…now that I’ve given you the entertainment for the day, shall we be on our way?”
Clint takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. “Why do you always have to be right?” he asks Wendy in annoyance. Reaching out, he pulls her close for a hug. “I’m sorry I snapped at you. And you’re right…I need to be more understanding. It’s not every day somebody gains a brother instantly like that. I think he’s just as mad as I am at the moment, but…” He sighs. “Maybe I should talk to him later.”
Mick slows his horse down as well, and looks over to Rosetta. Coming to a clearing, he pulls to a stop, and just thinks for several moments. “Rosetta…you know I’m not one to back down from a fight…nor would I ever tell someone to tuck tail and run. But…there’s something I want to ask you to do…something that I’m going to beg you to do…for me.”
He looks her in the eye, his genuine concern and love showing through. “We’re all hoping and praying that things go well tomorrow. But if they don’t…if that judge declares all of us guilty and we’re sentenced to prison… before anybody can get here…”
He pauses, the seriousness hanging in the air. “Rosetta, I want you to promise me that before you’re taken, that you and that little boy get as far away from here as you can.” Mick knows his words will not be liked, but he’s begging her. “I could never live with myself behind bars, knowing that you too were suffering, and that BJ was ending up in some strange family who didn’t know or understand him. I’ve never asked you to run from the law before…but for me…please…give me the peace of mind to know that if things go sour, you’ll run.”

Intisapation
*Aerith looks up at Wyatt as his hand touches her face. A chill like nothing she ever felt running down her spine. A flutter in her stomach told her not to be scaired, her heart screaming to be cared for and decieding this man in front of her was the one.
Seeing the light and the sparkel in Wyatt's eyes Aerith pushed up to her on her knees again and level with Wyatt. Her own eyes braught with life. Aerith had never dont anything like this before but something, some unknown force was pulling her, driving her, leting her know this was ok. Taking her hand Aerith brushes a bit of hair from Wyatt forhead and runs her hand down the side of his face stoping at his jawlin and leting her hand linger.*
"Than we will always know and remember we had today."
*Aerith looking into Wyatts eyes almost geting lost in the light, the emotion, the hope. His eyes depth going on forever. Aerith can feel the heat and color come to her cheeks as they turn red, But she dosent turn away, her eyes stay looked on Wyatt's.*
*Katie cant help but giggle calling back to her uncle.*
"I know I know, I did grow up on the ranch you know."
*Katie turns and makes a funny face a joking look in her eyes.*
"Ok ok ok, I'll leave you in Jeff's hands while I get my horse ready."
*Turning back to Jeff Katie smiles.*
"Put him on Crimson. I think that would be a good match for him. I'll get Rocket."
*Giving a kiss to Scott on the cheek Katie smiles,*
"Thank you Scott. I know you will love this."
*Turning Katie heads to the barn. Entering she makes her way to the very far stall. An elagent Pinto sakes its head and moves a bit with excitment as Katie draws near. Opening the stall Katie slips in running her hand along the horses neck and talking softly to her.*
"Hey Rocket. Did you miss me, went to get some fresh air and strech those legs?"
*Taking a bridle from the hook Katie puts it on Rocket and leads her out of the stall and the barn geting her ready to ride, but also keeping an eye on Jeff and Scott. Katie new he was nervouse, but he was still cute. It was hard to take her eyes off him.*
*Wendy is taken back for a moment by Clint's angry words. She new he wasent upset at her, and in a way she could understand what was going, but on the other hand Clint was geting a chanse many people dident get.*
"Clint, weather your parents lied to you or not your brother is alive. They were trying to protect him from the agency just like they tryed when they dident tell you Jim was your dad. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying this is easy cuz I am sure its not. But you have been given a chanse that not many people get. Your brother you thought was dead is now alive, you have a chanse for one day to get to know him. After that he might be gone again, and you might never have this chanse again. Do you really want that to pass you by? Do you really want your dad to maybe go off to jail knowing his son both of them were mad at him? Knowing the last time he saw you, you hated him all over again?"
*Wendy lets out a sigh.*
"I dont think I would. But thats just me."
*Wes smiles at Jason saying nothing more about the subject but letting it lay for now. When they all got back to the house Wes would show Jason one more thing that was for him, but for now the subject was over and Wes dident want to press his luck.
Bending down next to the bike again Wes reaches out and pulls the sparkplugs off. Looking them over for a long moment.*
"Mmm....it looks like they are eroaded alittle bit but nothing to much to stop the bike from working altogether. Wouldent hurt to have them changed. I think I have an extra page in with my other parts. Let me go grab them so we can check it out."
*Wes stands and heads out into the back room rummaging for the plugs and than heads back to Jason with them in hand.*
"Found them."
*Wes heads back over and continues to fiddle around on the bike with Jason for a while longer.*
*Rosetta enjoys the ride with Mick. Being with him again was nice, and riding with him was even better. Glancing over at him Rosetta can see the hesatence on his face. Mick had something on his mind. Slowing down the pace of the horse Rostta walks slowly along side Mick.*
"Penny for your thoughts?"
Arriving
Wyatt loves listening to Aerith talk. Though the takes a roundabout way back to the topic he had broached, the loves hearing about her…about what maker her tick…about what makes her…her.
As she mentions the next day, a sparkle grows in Wyatt’s eyes. Maybe him taking a chance hadn’t been in vain. Though no one knew the future, right now…in this moment, a bit of joy welled in his heart for a new hope had been born.
Wyatt had liked girls before, though the only one he’d ever pursued had been Katie. No one had ever ‘clicked’ like he and Aerith had with him. There was just something special about her. She was strong enough to stand up for herself and speak her mind, and she was unafraid of what people might think about her faith. Yet she was also delicate and gentle, providing a man with someone to look out for and protect.
Wyatt’s mouth turns up into a soft smile. “I’d love to have you there tomorrow, Aerith. Your presence and your prayers would mean a lot to me.”
Stopping to think though, he cocks his head, pondering what she’d said about giving him a hug. Finishing his sandwich, he moves closer to the basket as if he’s going to retrieve some potato chips, but instead, he bypasses the food, winding up sitting directly in front of Aerith. Gazing on her face, a little tingle runs down his spine. Throwing caution into the wind was not something he was used to doing. But time was running out.
Lifting his hand, he’s slow to move it to her face so not to frighten her, and he runs a finger down her cheek. “What if tomorrow never comes?”
Scott quirks an eyebrow, uneasiness in his eyes at the thought of riding a horse. But he really did want to see Katie’s favorite place. He really did want to be with her today.
Relenting, he nods. “Okay…I’ll ride a horse. But only because I trust your judgment, not an ornery beast.” He accepts riding his own…he was appreciative of Katie’s offer to ride with him, but he did have his pride, no matter how nervous he was.
Jeff can’t help but overhear their conversation from his perch on the porch swing. “Extra boots are in the tack room,” he calls. “Katie, make sure he’s got a pair on instead of them tennis shoes.” He pauses, knowing that Scott is even less than a novice and is more than willing to help out.. “I’ll help you get started if you want.”
Scott eyes Jeff then looks back at Katie. “It’s fine by me. That way you can be free to get your own horse ready without me in the way. Besides, then maybe you’ll miss fifty percent of me making a fool out of myself before we leave.”
A scowl meets Wendy, even though it’s not her that Clint is upset with. “No…I’ve lost my appetite.” He stops, leaning his back against the rail of the pasture fence. Studying Wendy’s face, he sees understanding there…something that wouldn’t be there, had she not known what was going on. “So…you know.”
Clint shakes his head. “I finally thought I could trust my dad…I finally got to the point where I thought things weren’t so bad. Then I get hit with this. I grew up thinking my baby brother had died, and now that I’m twenty-three years old, I find out, hey, he’s still alive and well, and guess what – my parents knew all along. Well, thanks for nothing.”
Clint glares at the ground, crossing his arms angrily. “I shoulda known better than to let my guard down again. This merry-go-round ride is never going to end.”
Becky looks out the windshield from the passenger side of the car as it pulls slowly into the driveway. She sees a few people out and about, and she automatically searches for her husband and son. She was nervous about what had happened this morning. Clint had a temper like his father, and she could only imagine that Tyler did too. Thankfully, Rosalynn had taken the news surprisingly well, and wanted only to meet her “new” brother.
As the car parks near the row of bunk houses, Becky gets out, followed by Rosalynn and an older man, a bit heavy with gray hair. Becky looks to him with gratefulness. “I guess this could be the end, couldn’t it?”
“I guess it could be.” His voice is just a bit raspy, though is compassionate and warm. “But lets hope somebody’s on our side this time. Maybe we’ll pull through it. JT didn’t want me to even come so I wouldn’t get pulled in if things went sour, but I’ve known this case for too long not to see it through.”
Becky smiles at him. “Thanks, Greg. You’ve been more than a friend to us, especially lately.”
Wes’ words catch Jason completely off guard. No man, not even his own grandfather had ever said they were proud of him before. The genuineness in Wes’ voice proved he was not trying just to sound good or appease Jason – but he was being honest.
Jason swallows hard. His emotions took a sudden turn, getting all jumbled and mixed up, not knowing which way was forward, or which emotion should take the lead. He feels an outer layer start to crack and doesn’t understand why.
He eyes Wes’ outstretched hand. It was more than a casual handshake he was offering. It was statement. A statement of acceptance, a statement of honor. A statement that claimed he was Jason’s stepfather, but that he would respect Jason as his own man.
Jason had wanted something oppose in this…he’d felt awkward, and had thought he’d be right about Wes. But he’d been thrown for a loop instead.
He still felt horribly awkward, not knowing how the relationship between himself and Wes should work. But Wes was taking the firs step to work through it. And Jason had to respect that, no matter what he thought.
Finally, Jason reaches out to grasp Wes’ hand. “I’m sorry,” he apologizes quietly. “I guess I don’t know how family works.”
Letting his eyes drop, he gestures to the bike. “Check the sparkplugs.”
Mick and Rosetta ride for a little while, heading down the wooded lane. Mick is quiet, letting the sounds of the countryside envelop him. He’s hardly said a word since they left the ranch yard, and still is hesitant to speak.
