*Finishing up a few things and finally geting the moter on the bike running again Wes lets out a hall chuckle*
"I new if I asked you we could figure it out. Br. Brown will be happy to get this back finally."
*Standing and whiping his hands off on a rage Wes looks down at Jason for a moment. The look on his face said it all. Turning Wes heads for the door into the bathroom to clean up a bit before heading out of the shop. Stoping he turns to Jason.*
"You can go now if you want Jason I am sure you have other stuff to do than be cooped up in here the whole day."
*Turn back around and entering the bathroom Wes makes one last statment before the door shut, talking loud enough for Jason to hear him.*
"You know just cuz she is here with someone alse dosent mean you cant say Hi to her. She still probley wants to spend alittle time with you to. She still cares. At least this time Jason, if everything goes bad, you'd have that last moment to say what you really wanted to alot of people. Dont let pass you by, you never know when there might not be a tomarrow and than you live in regret. We cant go back and change the past, but we can make up for it and learn from it.*"
*Katie cringes a bit as Scott is thrown from the horse. I slight fear running through her that Scott might be hurt. But staying put she lets Jeff handle it. Katie didn’t want Scott to feel worse than he probley already did. Seeing him get up Katie lets out a sigh of relief. Watching closely Katie’s smile grows as Scott gets back on the horse determined not to give up.
After a few more minutes Scott rides up to Katie. Shaking her head she can’t help but smile.*
“It might have been entertaining but we all go through it. I took a few spills myself when I first started. Not to mention even the most experience rider like Rosetta or Mick could take a spill at any moment as well. It’s just something that happened. I’m awfully proud of you though Scott. Not many first timers get back on after a fall and that’s when they never ride again, because of fear. You over came that. If you can do that than you can do anything.”
*Smiling again Katie can’t help but let her eyes beam. She new this was going to be a great afternoon. Giving a nod to her Uncle Katie turns back to Scott.*
“If you need to stop at all on the ride don’t hesitate to yell and we can stop and walk alittle bit on foot.”
*Turning Katie clicks her tong and gives alittle squeeze with her legs causing Rocket to jolt forward. Steering him towards the back of the ranch and onto the less traveled path in the woods. Stopping her horse again Katie points up past the trees to the mountains in the distance.*
“See that, that’s were we are going. To the mountains.”
*Katie lets out a sigh for a moment her gaze drifting to Wes shop for an unexplained moment, as the thought of Jason popped into her head. It was late afternoon, and still since she saw Jason was there he hadn’t said a word to her. Not even a hi. Leting out alittle sigh Katie resumes her smile. She was happy to shair the ranch from her eyes with Scott.
Moving forward again Katie smiles and leads Scott along the winding path. In certin parts Katie had to dismount and move stuff out of the way. This path wasent traveled much. And since she left the ranch it probley hadent been. She was the only one who new the secret of the moutain.
Going on for about an hour the moutains draw closer. It wonder be long now. Slowling down on the path Katie comes to a stop smiling. Moving her hand for Scott to pull up along side Rocket Katie points out into the wooded bramble. At first glance it was dingy, scary, and not fun to look at. Whispering Katie turns to Scott.*
"Look closer."
*As Katie looked back to the bramble she squinted her own eyes. In the middle was a green patch with little white flowers, and in the middle was a baby fawn curled up next to its mother. As Rocket gives alittle snort both the fawn and its mother look up and right at Katie and Scott. As Katie stairs back the deers eyes so big, so much peace flowed in them. Giving a smile Katie nods to Scott to start moving again letng the two animles in peace. Speaking softly as they ride.*
"That one of God's wonderus way to let us know, even when things look ugly and when it feels like the life is being choked out, there is still something amazing and wonderful waiting to be discovered in the middle of hate, anger, fear and sadness."
*Katie rides on with Scott taking it slow. The path was becoming more rocky now, and Scott still being unexperanced Katie dident want an accedent to happen from moving to fast. Keep up the small talk, joking, teasing. Katie was having a great time.*
*Wendy beams when she see Becky and Rosalynn returning there hugs and offering there greetings. Standing back she lets teh family reunite and just listens to them talk a smile on her face to see them happy. Her ears perk up though at the mention of TY as she steps up again and smiles.*
"Last time I new Ty was in his bunk. Maybe you guys can round up Jim and all go see him. I think he has cooled about alittle too."
*Wendy turns and smiles at Clint.*
"Go with your family. I'll be here when your done. You havent see them in a while, you have alot of catching up to do."
*Wendy smiles and gives Clint a soft kiss on the cheek.*
*Aerith brights her hand behind Wyatt's head as her other slimming around his waist and to his back to gently hold him as she feels his passion grow, returning it ten fold. Many thoughts ran throgh Aeriths mind, the butterfly fluttering fast in her tummy. This feeling, this emotion, Aerith had waiting along time to let anyone this close to her. It had been well worth the wait, and it felt even more special to shair the first kiss of her life with someone that felt the same emotion she did, Someone who shined in the light of God and shaired him glory with her.It was nice to know that no matter what happend tomarrow, this moment would live on and would never forget the man who opend her eyes to a new and wonderful world.*
*Rosetta turns saying nothing she wraps her arms around him. Words would not what to come. What could she say. Tomarrow, could change something for the good or for the bad. Nothing more could be done than sit, wait and let Lockheart do her job. Keeping her strong embrace around Mick, for now Rosetta dident want to let go.*

Making memories today
Needing somebody
Jason helps Wes with the bike for a while, tinkering with the engine, and puttering around the shop. After a while though, he gradually steps back to the side, just observing, a bit of awkwardness returning. He felt like he should go do something, or be with someone…but there was nothing he could really do, and no one to do it with. He’d already spoken to his mother…Jade was busy…and anyone else had other people they were doing things with. He felt a bit like a lame duck at the moment.
As Wyatt hears Aerith’s whisper and feels her lips return to his, his heart races. Returning the kiss timidly at first, he lets it linger, gradually letting his confidence build until he dares to let his gentle passion through. Reaching to the side of Aerith’s face, his palm caresses her cheek as he kisses her warmly, taking in the moment without regret. The taste was sweet. The exchange was tender.
Clint smirks at Wendy. “Alright. We can get something to eat. Though I dare say IF there’s anything left, it’s gonna be cold.”
Slinging an arm around her shoulder, they head to the mess hall. Upon entering, Clint suddenly stops, seeing his mother and sister at the far end, just sitting down with several others.
Becky looks up, a smile immediately forming. “Clint!”
Rosalynn jumps up from her seat and runs across the room to throw her arms around her twin.
Clint chuckles and swings his sister around. “What? You act like you haven’t seen me in years!”
“That’s what it feels like.” Rosalynn giggles. She turns to give Wendy a hug too. “Oh, it’s so good to be back!”
Becky is next in line, giving both hugs. She looks to Clint with question. And is just about to ask, when he nods at her. “Yeah, he talked to me.”
Tears glisten in Becky’s eyes. “I’m so sorry, Clint. I know this must be hard on you.”
“Yeah, well…what can we do?” Clint shrugs. “Someone pointed out that this is a chance most people never get so…I guess I need to be more grateful than mad.”
Becky gives her son a proud smile. “Is your father around here?”
“I haven’t seen him since…” Clint grimaces just a little. He may feel better after talking with Wendy, but he certainly hadn’t helped things earlier. “Um…it didn’t exactly go well earlier. Ty and I were both a bit upset.”
“Ty, huh?”
“Yeah.” Clint nods, giving his mother a small smile. “That’s what he goes by.”
Becky swallows hard. “Where is he?”
Clint shakes his head. “I don’t know.”
Mick dismounts his horse as well, and follows Rosetta slowly. As she stops and speaks, his arm finds its way around her shoulder. “As long as you’re safe,” he says quiet. “As long as you don’t let them take you or BJ. No matter what it takes...I couldn’t bear the thought of you behind bars.”
Turning Rosetta so she’ll look at him, Mick stares her in the eye. “If we lose this tomorrow, the Agency will be pleased. Don’t let them win by allowing it to happen to you.”
“Come on, Sparky, take a break.”
Sparky throws another hay bale down from the loft, landing feet from Mel. “Life doesn’t stop because a court hearing is tomorrow.”
“No, but it might stop because of it,” Mel counters. “Come on…you’ve got family and friends here…” She looks up at him from the barn aisle. “Spend some time with them before it’s too late.”
Sparky pauses in his work, wiping the sweat from his brow. “They’ve all got things they’re doing already. I would just interrupt. Being by myself isn’t the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Yeah, well I know someone who’s feeling pretty down about this whole thing, who would just like to be told it’s going to be okay, but they don’t have anybody to go to.”
Sparky quirks an eyebrow, his compassion kicking in. “Who?”
Mel lets her eyes drop. “Me.”
Sparky gives a little sigh and takes off his gloves. He slowly makes his way down the ladder to stand in front of Mel. “I’m sorry. You’re right. I should be spending time with other people. I guess…I just didn’t want to stop and think about tomorrow, so I opted to keep my hands busy instead.”
Mel looks back up at him and forces a short, dry laugh. “Sparky Henson, you’re the most difficult man I’ve ever met.” She stops. “No, I take that back. Your brother is worse. But I at least thought I’d have a chance with you.”
Sparky can feel a bit of heat rising up his neck. He’d liked Mel since she’d arrived at the ranch…he’d taken her side when others hadn’t believed her, and he’d entertained thoughts of forming something more than just a surface friendship. But things had happened…he’d gotten busy…he hadn’t pursued anything just because…well, maybe he hadn’t thought he’d had much of a chance either with someone like Mel, even though she did flirt with him. She’d been busy, he’d been busy…he just hadn’t jumped on any free chances. Perhaps he’d always been just a little scared that he’d wind up as the disappointed reject. But…in all reality…he still entertained those thoughts of having something more with Mel, and they’d grown even stronger over the passing of time. Every time he sat with her…every time they went riding together…every time he looked at her from across the room. He’d just…he’d…was there really a good reason he hadn’t pursued more like he’d wanted to? Suddenly facing that question, Sparky realizes that he didn’t have an excuse anymore. “Have I been that offish?”
“Not at first.” Mel chuckles, resigning herself to the fact that there were no feelings there, even if it was disappointing. “For a while there I thought maybe there might be a chance for something, but…after it’s been this long, I guess that’s my hint, huh?” She shakes her head. “Though it would be nice if you could just stop working for a few minutes and at least have a glass of lemonade with me or something.”
Sparky cocks his head. Mel had showed interest in him, but…was there really the chance for something more from her perspective? “I didn’t think you cared that much.”
“About lemonade?”
He rolls his eyes. “No…about any possibilities.”
“I’m surrounded by people all day long, Sparky…but that doesn’t mean I’m not lonely. I’ve had chances with a ton of other guys in my life…but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t choose you.”
Innocent
*As Rosetta listens to Mick a sadness comes over her. She hadent really stoped to think about what was to come tomarrow. The though was gut renching, and painful. Rosetta new she could lose everyting. Everything she worked years to get. With one desition tomarrow it could be all gone. Her friends, her family, Mick, the ranch. It all could be stripped away.
Stoping Rosetta dismounts the horse still holding the rains in her hand she heads over to a tree tieing the animel up for now. Pacing the clearing Rosetta finally stops looking beyound the trees and bushes.*
"I wont run Mick. If things go bad tomarrow Mick, BJ and I wont run. We will simply walk away and find a safe place to hide. To start over and wait, wait for you to come back to us again."
*Rosetta turns and looks Mick in the eyes, a silent tear rolling down her cheek.*
"I'll pray with all my heart that dosent happen tomarrow. BJ and I are ready to start our family with you, I dont want to have to lose it again. BJ calls this home now. This ranch, is my life, my everything. You Mick, you mean everything to me too. I just hope I dont have to lose it all over again."
*Rosetta turns away again her mind racing. Tomarrow, Tomarrow would change alot. It would be the start of life over again for many in the open free. or it would be the end of life for alot. Tomarrow everyone's lifes were in God's hands to do what he saw was right and part of his plane.*
*Wendy smiles at Clint. He's come so far from when she first met him. Wendy had gained so much when she first met Clint. A best friend and the best boyfriend ever. He's grown so much since than.*
"How about we grab something to eat first mmmm? You cant honestly believe I think your not hungry?"
*As Wyatt's lips brush Aeriths her pulse starts to quicken, and everything starts to spin slightly. Wyatt's lips done linger long on hers, but Aerith had never been kissed before so it felt longer than it was. A tingly feeling ran through Aerith's body making it feel warm. As if a vail was being removed from her eyes everything seemed a bit brighter as well. The feeling that invoked inside Aerith sent her mind racing, like a wall beind knocked down to the emotions in her heart. Searcing Wyatt's eyes Aerith can see his own emotions and feeling are true not just a fly of the moment whim. What his feelings invoked in her and portrayed were genuien, and for the first time Aerith was ready to receve and give back. Smiling and leaning into Wyatt again, Aerith's heart starts to race a soft whisper escaping from her lips.*
"Its ok!"
* Keeping her hand on the side of his face, Aerith gently brushs her own lips aganst Wyatt's. A bit of hesatence linering. She never kissed anyone before and wasent to sure, how to go about it not wanting to move to fast for Wyatt.*
Promise me
Wyatt’s pulse quickens as he feels Aerith’s touch to his skin. Looking into her eyes, everything around him seems to fade away and time seems to stand still. If only he could make this moment last…if only nothing else really mattered.
He instinctively moves forward towards Aerith, his face inches from her own. The sun shining down on them was warm, the breeze peaceful and mild.
Chances didn’t come everyday. And once one was passed by, it often never came back around again. To seize the moment was to live to the fullest. To take that chance was to risk it all just to never wonder what could have been.
Wyatt tilts his head ever so slightly, bringing his face to Aerith’s. His eyes close for a moment as his lips brush hers, but he pulls back just a little, searching her eyes again, his gaze questioning if it was too much to ask if he wanted to do it again.
Jeff grins at his niece as he steps down off the porch. He knew good and well Katie could handle herself and Scott just fine, but truth be known, he’d wanted to interact with them while he still could, and this was a prime excuse.
Getting into the barn, he helps Scott find a pair of boots, then goes to get Crimson, agreeing the gelding was a good choice.
“Alright…how much do you know?” Jeff ties Crimson in the center of the barn aisle, going to groom him quickly before tacking up.
Scott stands a safe distance away, his arms folded across his chest. “I know the difference between the head and the hind end.”
Jeff chuckles. “That’s a better start than some people have.” He goes about brushing Crimsons’ soft coat quickly, to not waste too much time. “Well, today I’ll just give you the quick learning experience so you Katie won’t be waiting for you all day.”
“That would probably be a good thing. She’d never let me live it down.”
“Ohh…” Jeff grins a little slyly as he works. “I’d say by that look in her eye, she might let it slide if you asked her real nice, but let’s not press our luck.”
Scott’s face reddens just slightly, and he lets that train of thought end there.
It’s not long before Crimson is saddled and Jeff is outside in the small corral, instructing Scott.
Scott can see Katie nearby and tries not to let how nervous he is show.
Jeff gestures to the horse. “Alright, you always mount up from the left side. Left foot in the left stirrup, and swing yourself on up there.”
Scott eyes the saddle, the stirrup, the height. “You know…this is a lot taller than that pony I was on as a kid.”
“Scared?”
“Terrified.”
“Then maybe this isn’t such a good idea.”
Scott sighs, seeing Katie again. “No…I’ll do it.”
“Then try your best to get over that fear, ‘cause the horse will know it’s there.” Jeff pats the saddle again. “Up you go.”
Scott swallows hard and steps forward, taking hold of the saddle and getting his left foot up into the stirrup. Standing for just a moment, he swings up to straddle the horse, having just a little trouble getting his right foot in the other stirrup.
“Alright. See? That’s not so bad, is it?” Jeff looks up at him.
Scott’s hands are on the saddle horn. “No, not at all…what do I have to be afraid of, sitting on half a ton of meat that could kill me if it wanted to?”
Jeff laughs. “Relax. Okay…here are your reins…” He goes into a brief explanation about how to go, stop and turn. “Take him for a spin around the corral just a couple times, then I’ll send you on out with Katie.”
“Great.” Scott takes up his reins and kicks Crimson’s sides lightly to get him walking. After two rounds, he starts to relax a little. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all.
Jeff nods with satisfaction. “You look good – you pick up on it quick, and I’m not just saying that. How about…”
Before he can finish, a gust of wind suddenly takes the side door of the barn, slamming it shut with a loud bang. Crimson, knowing he’s got a novice rider, and being startled by the noise, suddenly takes off.
Jeff’s eyes widen. “Pull back on your reins!” he calls.
Crimson is already at a high lope, turning the far end, and shooting back toward the gate. Scott does as he’s told, and pulls with all his might. To his misfortune, Crimson obeys too well, and skids to a sudden halt.
Momentum, however, carries Scott further. Up and out of the saddle he goes, slipping right over Crimson’s head to do a summersault and land hard on the ground.
Jeff is quick to slide down next to him. “You alright? Scott…are you hurt?”
Scott just lies still for a moment, staring up and blinking, trying to breathe after the wind had gotten knocked out of him. “I…think so.” Rolling over, he picks himself back up, dusting himself off.
“You hurt anywhere?”
Scott tries out all his muscles and rotates his weak wrist gingerly, glad he’d worn his brace today. “Nowhere by my pride,” he admits ruefully.
“Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.”
Scott grits his teeth and looks back at the horse. “If you think I’m going to let this beast get the best of me, you’ve got another thing coming. I’ve got a date, and I’ll not have an animal ruin it for me.”
Jeff starts to grin. “I thought you were afraid.”
“I think adrenaline just overtook that.” Scott grabs his reins and throws them back up over Crimson’s head. Without even waiting for Jeff, he’s in the saddle again. Crimson tries to go forward before he’s ready, and he pulls back sharply. “Oh, no you don’t. Not this time.” Getting his other foot in the stirrup he’s finally settled. “We’re going to try this again, and this time I’m not going to let my guard down!”
After a few more rounds of walking and even trotting just once, Jeff feels its safe enough to let him out to go with Katie.
Slowly riding up to her, Scott stops Crimson by Rocket. “So…now that I’ve given you the entertainment for the day, shall we be on our way?”
Clint takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. “Why do you always have to be right?” he asks Wendy in annoyance. Reaching out, he pulls her close for a hug. “I’m sorry I snapped at you. And you’re right…I need to be more understanding. It’s not every day somebody gains a brother instantly like that. I think he’s just as mad as I am at the moment, but…” He sighs. “Maybe I should talk to him later.”
Mick slows his horse down as well, and looks over to Rosetta. Coming to a clearing, he pulls to a stop, and just thinks for several moments. “Rosetta…you know I’m not one to back down from a fight…nor would I ever tell someone to tuck tail and run. But…there’s something I want to ask you to do…something that I’m going to beg you to do…for me.”
He looks her in the eye, his genuine concern and love showing through. “We’re all hoping and praying that things go well tomorrow. But if they don’t…if that judge declares all of us guilty and we’re sentenced to prison… before anybody can get here…”
He pauses, the seriousness hanging in the air. “Rosetta, I want you to promise me that before you’re taken, that you and that little boy get as far away from here as you can.” Mick knows his words will not be liked, but he’s begging her. “I could never live with myself behind bars, knowing that you too were suffering, and that BJ was ending up in some strange family who didn’t know or understand him. I’ve never asked you to run from the law before…but for me…please…give me the peace of mind to know that if things go sour, you’ll run.”

Intisapation
*Aerith looks up at Wyatt as his hand touches her face. A chill like nothing she ever felt running down her spine. A flutter in her stomach told her not to be scaired, her heart screaming to be cared for and decieding this man in front of her was the one.
Seeing the light and the sparkel in Wyatt's eyes Aerith pushed up to her on her knees again and level with Wyatt. Her own eyes braught with life. Aerith had never dont anything like this before but something, some unknown force was pulling her, driving her, leting her know this was ok. Taking her hand Aerith brushes a bit of hair from Wyatt forhead and runs her hand down the side of his face stoping at his jawlin and leting her hand linger.*
"Than we will always know and remember we had today."
*Aerith looking into Wyatts eyes almost geting lost in the light, the emotion, the hope. His eyes depth going on forever. Aerith can feel the heat and color come to her cheeks as they turn red, But she dosent turn away, her eyes stay looked on Wyatt's.*
*Katie cant help but giggle calling back to her uncle.*
"I know I know, I did grow up on the ranch you know."
*Katie turns and makes a funny face a joking look in her eyes.*
"Ok ok ok, I'll leave you in Jeff's hands while I get my horse ready."
*Turning back to Jeff Katie smiles.*
"Put him on Crimson. I think that would be a good match for him. I'll get Rocket."
*Giving a kiss to Scott on the cheek Katie smiles,*
"Thank you Scott. I know you will love this."
*Turning Katie heads to the barn. Entering she makes her way to the very far stall. An elagent Pinto sakes its head and moves a bit with excitment as Katie draws near. Opening the stall Katie slips in running her hand along the horses neck and talking softly to her.*
"Hey Rocket. Did you miss me, went to get some fresh air and strech those legs?"
*Taking a bridle from the hook Katie puts it on Rocket and leads her out of the stall and the barn geting her ready to ride, but also keeping an eye on Jeff and Scott. Katie new he was nervouse, but he was still cute. It was hard to take her eyes off him.*
*Wendy is taken back for a moment by Clint's angry words. She new he wasent upset at her, and in a way she could understand what was going, but on the other hand Clint was geting a chanse many people dident get.*
"Clint, weather your parents lied to you or not your brother is alive. They were trying to protect him from the agency just like they tryed when they dident tell you Jim was your dad. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying this is easy cuz I am sure its not. But you have been given a chanse that not many people get. Your brother you thought was dead is now alive, you have a chanse for one day to get to know him. After that he might be gone again, and you might never have this chanse again. Do you really want that to pass you by? Do you really want your dad to maybe go off to jail knowing his son both of them were mad at him? Knowing the last time he saw you, you hated him all over again?"
*Wendy lets out a sigh.*
"I dont think I would. But thats just me."
*Wes smiles at Jason saying nothing more about the subject but letting it lay for now. When they all got back to the house Wes would show Jason one more thing that was for him, but for now the subject was over and Wes dident want to press his luck.
Bending down next to the bike again Wes reaches out and pulls the sparkplugs off. Looking them over for a long moment.*
"Mmm....it looks like they are eroaded alittle bit but nothing to much to stop the bike from working altogether. Wouldent hurt to have them changed. I think I have an extra page in with my other parts. Let me go grab them so we can check it out."
*Wes stands and heads out into the back room rummaging for the plugs and than heads back to Jason with them in hand.*
"Found them."
*Wes heads back over and continues to fiddle around on the bike with Jason for a while longer.*
*Rosetta enjoys the ride with Mick. Being with him again was nice, and riding with him was even better. Glancing over at him Rosetta can see the hesatence on his face. Mick had something on his mind. Slowing down the pace of the horse Rostta walks slowly along side Mick.*
"Penny for your thoughts?"
Arriving
Wyatt loves listening to Aerith talk. Though the takes a roundabout way back to the topic he had broached, the loves hearing about her…about what maker her tick…about what makes her…her.
As she mentions the next day, a sparkle grows in Wyatt’s eyes. Maybe him taking a chance hadn’t been in vain. Though no one knew the future, right now…in this moment, a bit of joy welled in his heart for a new hope had been born.
Wyatt had liked girls before, though the only one he’d ever pursued had been Katie. No one had ever ‘clicked’ like he and Aerith had with him. There was just something special about her. She was strong enough to stand up for herself and speak her mind, and she was unafraid of what people might think about her faith. Yet she was also delicate and gentle, providing a man with someone to look out for and protect.
Wyatt’s mouth turns up into a soft smile. “I’d love to have you there tomorrow, Aerith. Your presence and your prayers would mean a lot to me.”
Stopping to think though, he cocks his head, pondering what she’d said about giving him a hug. Finishing his sandwich, he moves closer to the basket as if he’s going to retrieve some potato chips, but instead, he bypasses the food, winding up sitting directly in front of Aerith. Gazing on her face, a little tingle runs down his spine. Throwing caution into the wind was not something he was used to doing. But time was running out.
Lifting his hand, he’s slow to move it to her face so not to frighten her, and he runs a finger down her cheek. “What if tomorrow never comes?”
Scott quirks an eyebrow, uneasiness in his eyes at the thought of riding a horse. But he really did want to see Katie’s favorite place. He really did want to be with her today.
Relenting, he nods. “Okay…I’ll ride a horse. But only because I trust your judgment, not an ornery beast.” He accepts riding his own…he was appreciative of Katie’s offer to ride with him, but he did have his pride, no matter how nervous he was.
Jeff can’t help but overhear their conversation from his perch on the porch swing. “Extra boots are in the tack room,” he calls. “Katie, make sure he’s got a pair on instead of them tennis shoes.” He pauses, knowing that Scott is even less than a novice and is more than willing to help out.. “I’ll help you get started if you want.”
Scott eyes Jeff then looks back at Katie. “It’s fine by me. That way you can be free to get your own horse ready without me in the way. Besides, then maybe you’ll miss fifty percent of me making a fool out of myself before we leave.”
A scowl meets Wendy, even though it’s not her that Clint is upset with. “No…I’ve lost my appetite.” He stops, leaning his back against the rail of the pasture fence. Studying Wendy’s face, he sees understanding there…something that wouldn’t be there, had she not known what was going on. “So…you know.”
Clint shakes his head. “I finally thought I could trust my dad…I finally got to the point where I thought things weren’t so bad. Then I get hit with this. I grew up thinking my baby brother had died, and now that I’m twenty-three years old, I find out, hey, he’s still alive and well, and guess what – my parents knew all along. Well, thanks for nothing.”
Clint glares at the ground, crossing his arms angrily. “I shoulda known better than to let my guard down again. This merry-go-round ride is never going to end.”
Becky looks out the windshield from the passenger side of the car as it pulls slowly into the driveway. She sees a few people out and about, and she automatically searches for her husband and son. She was nervous about what had happened this morning. Clint had a temper like his father, and she could only imagine that Tyler did too. Thankfully, Rosalynn had taken the news surprisingly well, and wanted only to meet her “new” brother.
As the car parks near the row of bunk houses, Becky gets out, followed by Rosalynn and an older man, a bit heavy with gray hair. Becky looks to him with gratefulness. “I guess this could be the end, couldn’t it?”
“I guess it could be.” His voice is just a bit raspy, though is compassionate and warm. “But lets hope somebody’s on our side this time. Maybe we’ll pull through it. JT didn’t want me to even come so I wouldn’t get pulled in if things went sour, but I’ve known this case for too long not to see it through.”
Becky smiles at him. “Thanks, Greg. You’ve been more than a friend to us, especially lately.”
Wes’ words catch Jason completely off guard. No man, not even his own grandfather had ever said they were proud of him before. The genuineness in Wes’ voice proved he was not trying just to sound good or appease Jason – but he was being honest.
Jason swallows hard. His emotions took a sudden turn, getting all jumbled and mixed up, not knowing which way was forward, or which emotion should take the lead. He feels an outer layer start to crack and doesn’t understand why.
He eyes Wes’ outstretched hand. It was more than a casual handshake he was offering. It was statement. A statement of acceptance, a statement of honor. A statement that claimed he was Jason’s stepfather, but that he would respect Jason as his own man.
Jason had wanted something oppose in this…he’d felt awkward, and had thought he’d be right about Wes. But he’d been thrown for a loop instead.
He still felt horribly awkward, not knowing how the relationship between himself and Wes should work. But Wes was taking the firs step to work through it. And Jason had to respect that, no matter what he thought.
Finally, Jason reaches out to grasp Wes’ hand. “I’m sorry,” he apologizes quietly. “I guess I don’t know how family works.”
Letting his eyes drop, he gestures to the bike. “Check the sparkplugs.”
Mick and Rosetta ride for a little while, heading down the wooded lane. Mick is quiet, letting the sounds of the countryside envelop him. He’s hardly said a word since they left the ranch yard, and still is hesitant to speak.

My Feelings
*As Aerith sits fishing her mind starts to wonder with in no time she is taken back to when her dad would take her fishing.
"Dad, can you put the worm on for me?"
"Aerith, its not that bad they dont bit!"
"I know dad, but it has to hurt them puting a hook in there body, I dont want to hurt them."
"Ok come here sweet heart."
As Areith remebers she smiles. How she had loved spending time with her dad. Everything had been simple then. Aeriths mom was happy than. She loved spending time with her, use to laugh. When Aerith's father had fallen ill everything changed. Her father had told her mother she wasent aloud at the hospetal. He dident want Aerith to remember him that way but to remember him as the man full of life. That never stoped loving her.
Wyatt's voice shatters Aeriths memories, and thought. Turning her head and smiling she nods. She was starting to get hungry without relizing it. Aerith sits down tucking her legs underneath her and kneeling leaning back on her legs. Taking a bit of her sandwhich Aerith smiles. Listen to Wyatt a feeling starts to over come her. Was it fear, excitment, joy Aerith wasent sure. She had always shyed away from guys, never geting to close. Why she dident know. But Wyatt was differnt, he has a certin peace and the time spent with him dident frighten her.*
"I've, never had anyone more than a friend before. I mean sure alot of guys have took intrest in me, and tryed to start something I've alwyas just cut it short before anything could come of it. My dad was the only real person I was close to. He was my best friend. I guess when I lost him it hurt so bad I dident want to get close to anyone. I guess I just dident want to feel that pain ever again like I did when I lost my dad."
*Aerith lets out a sigh and she takes another bit of her sandwhich.*
"After that everything with my mom geting married, and well you know the rest. Out of everything I gained one good thing. As time went on I started reading my bible more and found comfort in that. I went to church and lived my life more like he would want me too. Over time he helped ease my pain. But I guess the feeling of loss can be eased but not forgoten."
*Stoping again for a moment Aerith relizes that maybe her words had goten away from her again and taken her off topic once again. She felt comfortable around Wyatt like she could tell him anything, she could keep talking hours and hours. *
"Your, differnt though Wyatt. I can feel the pull on my heart and I feel so comfortable with you. I dont have anyfear, and I can feel my heart screaming at me."
*Taking a sip of her lemonaid Aerith smacks her lips together at the tart tast.*
"Tomarrow Wyatt, you might leave, go to that court hearing and I could never see you again. I've never been one to look farther ahead than I can see, but tomarrow I'd like to go into court with you. Be there, to saport you. Even if I cant go in the room with you guys I want to be waiting outside those doors to be the firt one to hug you, and start to feel what geting close to someone means again."
*Once finishing the dishes Rosetta cleans up. Checking on BJ, making sure Jamie and Con were ok Rosetta finally heads out to the barn. Finding Mick she puts her arms around him and smiles.*
"Ok I'm ready."
*Smiling Katie leans into Scott. Looking around only a few people are around. Jeff was alittle bit away on the pourch, Her Aunt had just entered the barn and Katie saw Clint with a scowl on his face.
Turning to Scott Katie stops and looks up at him. Her fav spot is what he wanted to see. So he would.*
"Ok, I know right where I want to take you, but we have to go by horse back. Its quite a walk to get there on foot. It would be 10x easyer with the horses. And if you want you can ride with me so you dont have to ride alone."
*Katie smiles up at Scott a twinkle in her eye showing she wasent trying to mok him. Only trying to make her own sacrafices to make him comfortable. A relationship was about bending to eachother, making sacraficed for eachother. Give and gain thats what it was about.*
*As Wendy heads to the mess hall she see Clint. Knowing now about would happend she could tell by the look on Clint's face he wasent happy. Running to catch up with him Wendy smiles.*
"Hey Sweetness. Want to join me for whatever is left over for breakfest?"
*Wes is taken back by Jason suddon acusations of Wes having something to say. Standing he looks at his step son for a long moment.*
"Jason, this wasent an excuse to get you out here alone at all. This was a genuin offer for help. Because Clint and I DONT know what is wrong with the bike and we have been working on it for a good few weeks."
*The look in Wes' eyes portray that he really did want Jason's help with the bike and thats why he asked him to take a look at it.*
"As for talking to you, I can do that anywhere. I dont want to courner you Jason, or trap you into talking to me. Thats not my intentions at all."
*Wes thinks for a moment before speaking again.*
"I guess if I have anything really important to say to you its how proud I am. I saw you went you first came to the ranch and you've changed alot since then. You might think you took a step backwards but, its just another bump in the road of life and I can see you making it over that bump. Your a fine young man who is growing day by day. And When I got you mom as part of my family, I am glad that i got you as well. I feel honnored to call you my step son Jason!!"
*Wes holds his hand out to Jason. Like a king would to another king showing they are equil, and showing there honor to one another. Steping slightly to the side as to not block the exit in case Jason wished to leave. Wes dident want him to feel traped or forced.*
*Misty lets out a laugh as she wraps her arm back around Carson's waist and they walk. The air was warm out today but not to unbearable. The feeling of what was to come tomarrow slowly slipping away.
Steping into Mom and Pop's Misty gives a wave to Mable. Than spinning quick in a circle Misty points to a table.*
"That one. It looks rather nice."
*Sliding into the booth Misty looks at Carson for along momen across from her. In seconds she is sliding out again and movieing next to Carson insted.*
"Today, I want to be as close as I can to you."
*Misty looks Carson in the eyes again and than back to her menu searching for something differnt to eat today.*
*Frankie stands across the street from Mom and Pops confusing still within him. What had happend here days before. What had he done. One minute he was teasing Aerith offering to take her home, and the next his jaw was killing him. The look of terror on Aerith's face, and the anger, the hate seen in Jason and Wyatt.
As suddon movment coming down the sidewalk catchs Frankie's eye. Causing him to forget about what happend last night for just a moment. Widening the for a moment his breathing only stops. It was his sister with the same guy he saw in Lundon. She looksed differnt now, so happy. Frankie couldent help but smiles. That was his first reason for coming to Nevada. He hadent talked to his sister in so long. Seeing her enter and sit down with Carson Frankie decieds now wasent the time to bother her. She looked busy and dident need him droping in on her runing her nice time. Frankies eyes were soft as they looked apone his sister.*
If you're willing...
Wyatt smiles as he watches Aerith. He was glad she could come here and relax. The picture of her the day before with Frankie still made him shudder.
Reese wades across the river to the other side where he sets himself down on a comfortable perch and starts to fish.
Wyatt remains fairly close to Aerith, fishing upstream from her and enjoying the sun. Every once in a while someone would give a shout if they got a fish, and it would go on their stringer, promising a good supper for that evening.
Close to lunchtime, Wyatt's stomach begins to grumble. "Hey!" he calls loudly. "Anybody hungry, or just me?"
Reese waves from his spot a ways down. "Not me. You two go ahead though."
Wyatt can't help but grin. He knew his dad too well to believe he wasn't hungry. But he wouldn't spoil his fun. Heading to the little clearing on the bank, Wyatt helps Aerith get out the food, and finally settles down on the ground, sprawling out and propping himself up on one elbow so he can still eat his sandwich. "Mm...this is the life." He pauses to eat a little, but his eyes insist on wandering back to Aerith.
"You know, Aerith...I've missed out on a lot of things, just because I've been overly cautious, or too dumb to make a move fast enough." He gives a short laugh. "Guess I'm just slow on the uptake sometimes. But this whole thing with not knowing what my future looks like after tomorrow... life's too short for me to keep up the way I have. Pretty soon I'm gonna run out of time and find that I've done nothing but collect a box of regrets."
Wyatt pauses again. "Maybe I'm crazy...maybe I don't have a chance at all...but if I didn't try to take it, I'd be a fool." Looking into Aerith's eyes, he searches for what she might be thinking or feeling. He couldn't tell.
"I like spending time with you...you make me feel good and you're like the sun on a cloudy day." Cocking his head, he remains stretched out on the ground, thinking. "And I guess I don't want to let this slip by and become another regret that I have later down the road. I know there's a chance after tomorrow that I'll be behind bars the rest of my life. But if I'm not...if we come out of this...I'd like to be more than friends with you...if you're willing."
Wyatt can feel the heat on the back of his neck, and it wasn't from the sun. He wasn't usually this bold...he hardly knew Aerith at all. But his words were true. If he'd learned one thing from this trial, it was to seize the moment. And if he crashed and burned, so be it. At least he'd tried.
Ty doesn't verbally respond to Wendy as she speaks. She had a quiet air about her...she was peaceful, even though it was obvious this had been a surprise to her as well.
He doesn't make a move as she leaves, just figuring he'd be left alone the rest of the day. He might be able to get away with hibernating until everyone went back to Nevada tomorrow.
Clint trudges across the pasture, the bunk houses and mess hall in view. He didn't know where he wanted to go...he didn't know if he wanted to be with people or be alone. He was just...confused...hurt...upset. He had thought the lies were over. He had thought his parents had started being truthful. Yet they'd kept this secret...and Jim expected a positive reaction?
He kicks at the ground in frustration. He didn't know how to feel.
Mick returns Rosetta's kiss and nods. "Great." Seeing her return to he dishes, he gestures to the door. "I'll be out in the barns. Whenever you want to go today, just come find me."
Scott has put his camera away already, and smiles as Katie takes his arm. "Agreed. A walk sounds like an awfully good idea." Following her outside, he lets her keep her arm locked with his, and squints in the sun. He looks around for a moment, getting his bearings. "Okay...take me to your favorite spot," he challenges. "I want to see this place from your perspective."
Jason looks up as he hears Wes, not having realized he'd entered the shop. Lowering his eyes back down, he continues to look at the engine. "Could be," he muses. "If it starts up and then sputters before dying out, my guess would be that it's not electrical, but I can't imagine you or Clint would have missed something."
As Wes squats down next to him, Jason can feel himself bristle just a little bit, though he keeps his mind occupied with the bike. "Yeah, it is nice looking...older, but its body is in good shape."
As quietness settles over the shop, Jason focuses on the bike, but gives Wes a sidelong glance. "I can't run away. The plane isn't leaving until the morning. So whatever you want to say, just say it."
He stands up and crosses his arms, though his eyes show a weary willingness to stay. He knew this was important. "I'm not stupid enough to think that this bike wasn't a prime excuse to get me out here." A wry grin tweaks the very corner of his mouth. "You work too much like my mom does."
Carson leans into Misty's kiss, never tiring of the feeling that her passion evoked in him. Finally drawing away, a smile creases his lips. "Mm...if that's what it takes to get a kiss like that, I'm going to start inviting people to watch."
Chuckling, he resumes his walk beside her, noting that the other pedestrian had disappeared quite quickly.
Finally getting downtown, they cross the street to Mom and Pop's. Carson opens the door for Misty and follows her inside. "You pick the table."
Time moves on
*As Aerith scans the locations she smiles her fishing pole in hand. It was so pretty here, and never had she seen the water so clear. The smell filled her nose as memories slowly slip back to her.*
"This looks perfect. I've never seen such clear water. I think it will be a good spot."
* Aerith gives Wyatt's arm alittle squeeze of excitment than moves along the rocks. Finding a new spot for herself Aerith sits down and start going through the tackle box knowing what she is looking for. Once finding the right thing Aerith moves along the rocks again as the sun relfect off here moving form. Siting down Aerith smiles. She's not to far away from the others.*
"I found my spot. When you guys start to get hungry let me know. I will pull out the food for us."
*Katie smiles and waves back at Jeff giving alittle giggle. Turning to Scott she gives him a smile.*
"Come on, Jeff and them are nice. It dosent look like there table is to crowded eather."
*Going over to the table Katie sits down next to Jeff pulling up a seat for Scott. Keeping close to him the conversation at the table is light as the meal continues. Katie chats to everyone at the table, and includes Scott as well. Katie even smile more when she see Scott and Angel talking. It was good to see him interacting. Katie gives a scan around the room looking at all the smiling faces. It was good to be home and good to see everyone together. Katie smiles to herself. She really had missed it here. Life in Nevada was good, but there still was nothing like home.*
*Steping in alittle father Wendy leans up aganst the wall. Just listening to TY. Wow...he was Clints brother. That in itself was a shock to her let alone him. Well that would explain now why she felt a sort of familure feeling with him. Like she new him for so long.*
"Wow, thats...I couldent even imagen how that must feel. I dont blame you for being pretty confused. I guess I feel bad alittle for Jim and Becky to though. They must of had a good reason, and to do that must of hurt alot."
*Wendy stops and thinks for a moment. She wasent sure what to say to help anything.*
"Its gonna take some geting use to but, dont give up on them yet. I know its got to be hard, but...I dont know. Dont let this chanse pass you by. You dont know where you might be tomarrow."
*Wendy stands again and opens the bunk door. Turning one more time.*
"I'm going to go see if any breakfest is left. Maybe if your lonly later or something look me up. I'll be around."
*Wendy exits the bunk house and makes her way to the mess hall.*
*As Rosetta does up some dishes she smiles at Mick as he talks.*
"Jamie already said she and Con would watch BJ for me if we wanted some time alot. So thats all taken care of. Just let me know when your ready and I'm ready too."
*Rosetta leans into Mick and gives him a light kiss before going back to the dishes. Trying to keep her mind of once again Having Mick leave tomarrow, not knowing if she would see him or Katie again.*
*As the morning draws on and dinner was over Katie loses track of everyone she was talking with, laughing with. Standing she goes to great a few others, giving them he best wishs. Finally Katie relizes that Scott isent behind her anymore. Scaning the large room fill with people Katie's finally finds him. Smiling and walks up to him Katie interlocks her arm with his.*
"Hey there handsome. Wanna take a walk its geting alittle stuffy in here."
*As Wes see Jason disapear and looks to Cindy and gives alittle nod. Exiting the mess hall himself. Once entering the shop he leans aganst one of the shelfing units Just watching his setp son for a long moment. Finally Wes speaks trying not to startle Jason.*
"We think there might be a leak or air geting into the fuil line."
*Wes moves away from the shelf and over to the bike squating down next to Jason.*
"It sure is a nice looking bike."
*Wes draws silent feeling his own akwardness. He wasent to sure what to talk about with Jason other than the bike, and he dident want to bomb bard him with 20 questions eather. IF Jason dident want to talk right now Wes wouldent push him. So he sits and waits to see if Jason continues.*
*Misty stops and giggles as she looks across the street at the person watching them. Giving a wave she puts an arm around Carson's neck and pulls him closer to her.*
"Let them watch than."
*Misty press her lips to Carson's as they exchange a passinot kiss. Misty not in to much of a hury to stop.*
Now what?
Wyatt and Reese avoid talk of TJY or the court hearing tomorrow, and mostly remember times past, bringing up fishing trips with Wyatt had been a kid, and family picnics. They talked of going to this same river as a threesome, the tone growing just a little melancholy when mentioning Wyatt's mother. Overall, the atmosphere is kept light, and Wyatt tries to involve Aerith as much as he can, even though he knows she probably feels just a little strange.
Finally arriving to the river, it's just a bit of a walk down a narrow lane until they reach their destination. As they walk, Reese carries the tackle box and backpack with food. "Yeah, this is a nice little spot down here, and as far as I know, not too many people have discovered it." He chuckles. "Which is just the way we like it."
Heading off the path and through some light bramble, suddenly they're in a clearing. The river is calm and sparkling here, so clear one could see the bottom. Large rocks lined the shore, and an almost beach-like clearing was down the way with a picnic-perfect spot on the sand and pebbles.
Wyatt glances over to Aerith as they stop and scan the scenery. "So...what do you think?"
Jade greets Katie with enthusiasm. "Oh, I know, you wouldn't believe how many times I told myself, 'I've got to write Katie today!' then by the time I went to bed, I'd forgotten all over again." She rolls her eyes. "But I'm thrilled you're here - I had no idea everyone would be here today."
Introduced to Scott, she gives him a smile. "Hey."
Scott offers his free hand. "Nice to meet ya."
"Likewise." Jade's eyes drift back to Katie's as they twinkle with delight, showing that she liked Scott and was happy for her friend. "Okay, well, I'm gonna go eat with my family, but I know we'll catch up later!"
Turning around, Jade heads back to the table with her dad.
Scott keeps Katie's hand in his and gives it a little shake. "Alright, Hero, who are we daring to sit with this morning?" Though nervous, he was willing to go wherever she wanted.
Before a place can be chosen though, Jeff waves to them from his table where he sits with Sparky, Luke and Angel. "Hey, you two! Get over here and set your bottoms down!"
Scott glances to Katie. "I guess that's where we sit," he relents with humor.
Jade slides back into her seat next to Mick and across from Jason, starting in on her food and striking up a conversation with her dad again until he's busy talking with Rosetta.
The noise in the mess hall, and everyone chatting amongst themselves creates an atmosphere for anyone to talk about anything and still remain fairly private.
Jade finally asks Jason what she really wants to know. "So...how have you really been, Jason?"
He takes a bite of toast and shrugs. "Oh...I'm here...I'm alive...and that's what I gotta be thankful for at the moment I think."
"I knew you'd been in prison for a while."
"Yeah..."
"So..." Jade hesitates. It was none of her business. But she and Jason had been close...she could talk to him. "What happened with you and Katie?"
Jason forces a dry laugh. "You would ask that, wouldn't you?" He shrugs again. "I don't know. Me, I guess. I just wasn't...what she needed or deserved."
Jade's eyes fill with sympathy. "Are you really as over it as you imply?"
Jason looks down at his orange juice. "I'm getting there," he states matter-of-factly, before taking a swig. "What can you do? Move on. She's happy."
"I can see that." Jade smiles a little, allowing a pause. "I think about us everyone in a while, you know..."
Jason's eyes drift back up to hers. "And what do you think?"
"Oh I don't know...I guess maybe I figured out that perhaps I'd been in a little too much of a hurry to find love...I didn't stop and think before I dove in...and I guess sometimes I wish I wouldn't have taken that chance and spared you any pain."
The corner of Jason's mouth upturns. "You think too much." He knew he hadn't been thinking a whole lot back then either...Jade had been a good friend and he'd been attracted to her, but he hadn't really been as serious as he would have needed to be, had there been any chance for them at all. "You and I both know it never would have worked, but we enjoyed it while it lasted."
"I know." Jade sighs. "But that doesn't keep me from reflecting on it."
"I suppose not." Jason searches her eyes. "Have you found mister right yet?"
Jade laughs. "No, but I'm still waiting."
"Still bent on a homebody?"
Jade reaches out to slap his hand. "I never said I wanted a homebody. I just wanted someone who I didn't have to worry about day in and day out."
Jason grins. "Mark my words, you're going to end up with some dude in law enforcement just for spite."
Jade giggles. "Probably."
As Jason looks at Jade, he feels a strange bit of peace being around her. There was no tension, despite their past. They both had truly moved on, and neither were looking for anything, other than a simple friendship with the other. The excitement and what they might have called love had faded into a sweet memory, but did not torment their hearts now. Jason longed for the day he could look at Katie like this.
Ty refuses to look up at Wendy. She seemed nice...he wasn't put off by her presence or threatened by her intrusion. "Oh sure, I'm okay," he fibs. He finally glances upward to see her face. "I should be happy, right? Coming here and having my family history revealed to me? Who would have thought? Other than Mick, who got me here under false pretense."
He glances down again, still desperately trying to process everything, while still fighting the tears that wanted to come. He didn't even know why he felt like crying. He was just...mad and confused.
"I guess now everyone will know." He swallows hard, staring at the floor where he still sat. "Apparently I'm the long lost son who was explained away as dead." His eyes shift up to Wendy's again. "I was just informed that I'm your boyfriend's brother."
As breakfast begins to end, people start filing out of the mess hall, dispersing to either get necessary work done, or do things together. Jade has found someone to talk to, and Jason glances around the room, finding no comfortable scenario to insert himself into. Remembering Wes' discussion about the motorcycle, Jason slips quietly out the back door and heads to the shop. Letting himself in, he spots the motorcycle and wanders over to it, eying it skeptically. He squats down next to it, running his fingers over the engine and studying the parts.
Mick helps Rosetta clear away some of the dishes, meeting her alone in the kitchen. "Hey...if we can get someone to watch BJ, maybe you and I can take a short jaunt with the horses up the lane or something."
With the bustle of movement and people, it becomes just a little chaotic for a few minutes before everyone had scattered. Scott finds himself a little bit lost again and gradually shifts away from the groups until he's back by one of the windows. Picking up the small bag he'd brought with him, he draws out his camera. Aiming it subtly, hardly anyone notices as he clicks away some pictures, zooming in on faces, capturing the laughter in their eyes. Memories were precious, and he had a plan for these.
Carson grins and lets go of Misty's hand to sling his arm around her shoulder. "Who said it was a date? All I remember mentioning is breakfast."
He gives her a sly sidelong glance and leans down to give her a quick kiss as they walk. Straightening up, he realizes someone on the other side of the street was looking at them.
Forcing a serious expression, he shakes his finger at Misty. "Behave yourself, will you?"
<3
*Aerith smiles at Wyatt.*
"Thank you."
*Geting her fishing licens Aerith smiles as she holds it for a moment. She hadent had one of these in a long time. Slipping it into her wallet she climbs back into the jeep. Once picking up Reese Aerith slips into the back seat. Excanging her greeting and introductions with him Aerith sits in the back watching the scenery fly by. Joining in on the conversation every now and than Aerith mostly just listens feeling alittle out of place with Wyatt and his father.*
*Wes helps Cindy to the table porshing out food for himself and geting what she would like as well. Scaning the room at the smiling faces, the laughter and smiles. Turning to his wife Wes smiles and nods taking a bit of his toast.*
*As Katie enters the mess hall her eyes first fall on the face that wasent with them last night Jason. He came after all. Katie gives a small smile but soon the smile fades as she see Jason look at her but than look away not saying anything. Not givin time to think Katie sees Jade her smile returns receveing her embrace Katie hugs her back. Relizing just how long it had been till they had talked.*
"Jade! Its so good to see you. I am sorry I dident keep up writing to you. I guess things just got crazy. Its good to see you."
*Steping back Katie looks at Jade searching her face for a moment giving a nod. Receving an unspoken look that she new Jason and herself wernt together anymore Katie turns alittle taking Scotts hand.*
"Jade this is Scott. Scott this is Micks daughter and my good friends Jade."
*Wendy pushed the door open and steps inside. Feeling a bit strange about just walking in on a person she hardly new like this. Wendy had always been one to care though. Giving alittle smile Wendy softly talks.*
"I dont mean to barge in on you, I just saw you come this way pretty fast. I jus wanted to make sure you were ok."
*Misty looks at Carson and smiles. Feeling a bit of color come to her face.*
"So what happend to the Carson who dsoent go on dates mmmm?"
*Misty cant help but lean into Carson a bit as they walk today seemed brighter. This could possable be the last day of the rest of there lifes. It felt like time was trying to stop, to saver this day.*
"Mom and Pop's sounds great. Anywhere sounds great as long as your with me today."
More greetings
Wyatt waits patiently for Aerith, hoping that her grandmother isn’t giving her too hard of a time. He knew she probably wasn’t happy…not to mention that maybe it hadn’t quite looked right having Aerith spend the night at his place… But he was at peace about it. It hadn’t been wrong.
Once Aerith joins him again, they head into town, but Wyatt shakes his head at her question. “Nope. You don’t need an atm because I’m buying the license for you.”
He insists, and once everything is said and done, it seems like no time before they’ve been joined by Reese and are on their way to the river about half an hour away, all the fishing tackle and food in the back.
Scott gives Katie a grateful smile and returns the squeeze to her hand. He could keep this conversation going, but knew it was best if it were dropped so they could just move on. “Okay…it won’t take long to clean it up and I’ll head back with you.”
He’s right, and it doesn’t take much to straighten the cabin back up so it will be ready to work on later. Before he and Katie leave, he switches out his glasses for his contacts and slings a small bag over his shoulder. “Alright…let’s go see if there’s any food left after Con’s been there,” he teases.
The walk is warm and Scott and Katie walk hand in hand to the ranch yard, then to the mess hall. Entering, Scott can feel himself tense a little, but he finds the familiar faces in the room, forcing himself not to be bothered so much.
Feeling a bit strange talking to Wes, Jason tries to converse with him. The motorcycle dilemma did sound like an appealing project to keep his mind occupied. “Well, I’ve only done some tinkering, so I doubt I’d be able to find anything you or Clint couldn’t, but I can look. I can go to the shop after breakfast if you like.”
Cindy keeps herself from smiling too much. She was so glad to see Wes and Jason interacting…Wes was doing a good job, and it was good to see that Jason responded to him, even if he did feel awkward.
By now, the ranch yard is almost in sight and it only takes a few minutes to cover the rest of the distance.
Jade doesn’t hesitate to give Rosetta hug too. “Oh, thank you. Yes, I didn’t have any breakfast this morning and it was quite a long ride,” she admits.
Within minutes, she’s sitting at one of the tables next to Mick, with Rosetta and BJ, enjoying her breakfast. It’s just a short while later that she sees the door open, and looking up, her face breaks into a smile. “Jason!” She stands up and gives a little wave.
Jason looks quickly to the sound of his name and raises his eyebrows in surprise. He hadn’t expected to see Jade here.
Several others from TJY look up as well and Con glances to the door, very surprised to see Jason. So he’d come after all…
Jason’s awkwardness increases, not only with those at the ranch he was now unfamiliar with, but also with his coworkers who had thought he’d stayed in Nevada. He tries to shove his feelings aside though, and returns Jade’s wave. Breaking apart from his family, he heads to her table, nodding to a few others who greet him as well.
Jade stands up and goes to give Jason a warm hug. “I didn’t know you were here.”
Jason returns her hug, then draws away, giving a slight shrug and smile. “I didn’t know you were here either.”
“I just got in this morning to surprise my dad.”
Jason can’t help his slight chuckle. “I just got in this morning to surprise my mom.”
Jade giggles. “We need to be more original. Join me for breakfast?” Before Jason can answer though, she stops. “Oh, you’re probably waiting for Katie, aren’t you?”
Jason bites his lip. “Um, no. She’s here, but…”
Jade lifts an eyebrow. “Uh-oh.”
“Yeah.”
Jade looks up at Jason with sympathy. “Sorry. I didn’t know.”
“It’s okay…” He gives a little sigh. “It’s over and we’ve moved on.”
Before Jade can respond, the door opens yet again, and she looks past Jason to see Katie enter with another man. Her eyes shoot back to Jason with question.
Jason musters up a wry grin and nods. “Yep.”
“Come on.” Jade gestures to the table, changing the subject. “Eat with us. You look like you could use it.”
“Oh, thanks.”
“I didn’t say you looked bad.” Jade slaps his arm teasingly. “You couldn’t look bad if you tried. Sit down and I’ll be right back.”
Jason sinks down into a chair near Mick and Rosetta, feeling even more out of place here than he did when he’d first arrived so many months ago.
Jade hurries toward Katie, giving an enthusiastic wave and smile. “Katie!”
Scott steps back a little, giving the two women room to greet each other.
Ty hears the knock at the door and automatically swipes his eyes to rid evidence of tears, even though he can’t hide the redness. Hearing Wendy’s voice, he raises an eyebrow. What could she want? He’d talked to her a little bit last night with Clint and she’d seemed nice enough…but to go out of her way to check on him now?
Part of Ty just wanted to be left alone, and part of him wanted to vent. He didn’t want to make a scene…he didn’t want to get mixed up in some big mess. All he really wanted to do was leave. But if he told Wendy to go away, it might just raise more suspicion, and he might get questioned even more.
Thinking for a moment, he finally answers her. “It’s open,” he calls.
Remaining on the floor, he looks down as she enters, not knowing if he could really tell her what had just happened or not. It wasn’t like she wasn’t involved at all…she was dating his brother.
Carson grins. “If the cops come, let them. I have nothing to be ashamed of, banging on a pretty sheila’s window.”
He gives Misty’s hand a squeeze as they head slowly down the sidewalk. He wasn’t used to going at a slow pace, but it was nice this morning…he really didn’t feel like jogging anyway, and he and Misty could talk more this way, or simply enjoy the scenery more.
Instead of heading his normal route, Carson aims toward downtown instead. “How about some breakfast at Mom and Pop’s?”
6/5/08
Start to the day
*Aerith finishes up her food in no hurry at all. Savering every bite. Something about this breakfest really was differnt. Maybe it was she was in the company of a friend and there was warmth, insted of the normal cold silence. Aerith dident know but she liked it. After breakfest was over she helped Wyatt clean up and so dishes the chating never dieing out.
FInally off to her grandmother Aerith slips inside and heads up the steps. The spair bedroom door was open and the bed was upturned like someone had slept there that night. Not saprised Aerith blood still ran cold. Hurring to her own room she grabs some closths locking her door behind her and hops in the shower moving as fast as she can. Geting out and drying off Aerith runs a brush through her hair fast keeping the messed up look. Throwing on an green tank top and an old pare of jean shorts on she slips into her hiking flip flops and makes her way back down stairs to be greeted by her grandmothers yelling.*
"Where were you late night? What happend? Why did Frankie look like he had the crap beat out of him? He's a nice boy...."
*This goes on till Aerith finally turns biting her toung. How she wanted to yell back at her grandmother and scream. But if she started it wouldent be a good christion example and she would disapoint the lord for the things she would say. Exiting the house the yelling can be hurd from the front open door till is it shut muffling it. Geting into Wyatt's car Aerith musters up the best smile she can.*
"All right off to get the permit. Can we stop by an atm first though? Unless you think they take CCs."
*As Scott skids infront She looks up at him. She was upset but those eyes that looked back at her they showed they were sorry and dident mean to hurt her. Scaning Scotts face Katie sighs. She couldent be mad at Scott.
Wrapping her arms around him she leans her head on his shoulder. It wasent just about her. This was about Scott too. Katie had to think what he wanted as well now.*
"I'm sorry I got upset with you. I guess everything is wairing on me. You dont have to feel like your facing everything alone Scott. Cuz I am going to be right there with you. Come on...let me see if we can get that mess cleaned up, than if you feel up to it we can see if any breakfest if left. And maybe later if you dont want to be around everyone we can take a horse ride, or a hike or something."
*Katie offers Scott a smile and taking his hand in hers.*
"And you've already been my hero more than once. I'm sorry I said you wernt."
*Katie gives Scott's hand a gental squeeze.*
*Rosetta smiles and nods at Mike.*
"I'd like that."
*As Rosetta see Jade her smile grows. Giving a little wave. Hearing Jade call her step mom braught a warm feeling to Rosetta as she gives Micks arm a squeeze.*
"Hey Hun. Its good to see you. Ya Katie should be here shortly. I'm not sure where she is. We are just siting down for breakfest come join us you must be hungry."
*Wes stays upfront with Nate and Maggie. Talking and laughing only glanding back once and a while to make sure Cindy was ok. It was alittle warm out today and he dident want her to over do it.
Maggie smiles as she hold her brothers hand walking. Stoping to pick some flowers and than starting up again.*
"You guys are go...going to have a baby Wes?"
*Wes smiles at Maggie and nods.*
"We sure are. Its still to early to tell what it is, but whatever God gives up we will be happy."
*Wes keeps chating with Nate about the house and how it was build. The planes he had for each room and the backyard. Which reminded Wes he needed to show something to Jason back at the house later. As the ranch comes into view Wes slows his pace to walk with Cindy and Jason again.*
"We are almost there. Its just up ahead alittle ways."
*Giving a nod to Jason Wes offers.*
"Hey Jason, I know your big into motercicles and all, I've got one in the shop now I need to try and find out whats wrong with it. Clint and I have been working on it almost all week and we cant figure it out. Poor Clint is beating himself up over it he though he new all there was to know about bike but I guess even the best still have more to learn. Anyways I was wondering if maybe later you could take a look at it with me and show me a few thing. I'd really like to know alittle bit more and get this thing fixed up."
*Wendy makes her way to the shop. There was no work today but she had forgoten to get an invice sent out yesterday that needed to be done. Geting half way there she catches movment out of the side of her eye. Was that Ty storming to the bunk house. Something wasent right. Looking around and not seeing anyone consirn comes over her. She dident know this strange boy but something about him felt familure. Like she had known him for a while. Slowly making her way to the bunk house Wendy knocks on the door, a call following.*
"Ty? Its Wendy. Is everything ok?"
*The window to Misty room flys open as she pokes her head out calling.*
"I'm up I'm up you crazy loon. I've been awake for hours now. Give me a sec let me get my shoes on."
*Misty pulls her head back into the room and shuts the window. Carson tryed to smile, and show he was great but Misty saw past that and new he was still hurting. But Misty also new he was trying and she couldent ask for anything more than that. Steping outside and making her way to the sidewalk Misty smiles and shakes her head.*
"Oh of these days my nabors are going to call the cops for a disturbance."
*Misty laughs and locks her one hand with Carson's. Her other around her stomach. It was healing nicly, but still the pain and discomfort was there. Misy new though to get her muscles strong again she had to keep walking. At this stage it was the best thing for her.*
