Alone Tonight

Rosetta looks up at Sparky and gives a small nod. It was nice having him there to talk to. Rosetta felt so alone and just having someone else right there was nice.

"Yes, your never to far away. I will let you know if I need you."

Her voice seemed so quiet compared to the normal one that held so much cheer, and gave smiles to anyone face. But it was hard to smile right now herself. Things would get better, and be ok right? But for the moment it was all a mess.

Thinking for a long moment Rosetta takes another sip of her coffee. She wish there was a way she could thank Sparky for all he had done. For her and the ranch but what? Maybe something simple would be a good way to say thanks.

"Hey Sparky? I was wondering maybe tonight would you like to have dinner with me? Just a think you I guess for everything you have done. I know you like my cooking alot so I figured its the least I could do."

Standing Rosetta holds her cup in both hands looking down into it for a long moment before looking back up at Sparky.

"It...would be nice not to be alone tonight too."

Looking back to Wyatt Aerith's heart broke with the look that was apparent in his eye. He's seen his friends hurt more than anything else before, latterly torchered in front of his eyes and he could do nothing but watch.

Sliding out of the booth across from Wyatt Aerith moves into the same one. Putting her arm over his shoulders and pulling him into her just a little bit.

"I couldn't imagen how it must of felt Wyatt. Half the time I dont even know how you can stand what you do daily at work. But this, just the simple fact you were there for your friends was probably a great help."

Moving her hand back to Wyatt's back Aerith rubbed it a little. She wish she new what to say to Wyatt to help, but she seemed lost not really know how to hand it all. But if she didnt know what to say there was one thing she was good at, and that was listing.

"If you wanna talk about it more, that might help. You know I will always listen and I can get you something to drink if you like too."

Sapphire's smile grew as she entered Gage's apartment. She always liked coming to see him, just over the last few days had been crazy at work and she had little time. But today she got up extra early so she could make it over here.

"Well...I wasn't sure if you would like it but I picked up some bacon, egg and cheese on a crassont, with hash browns, some cinnamon stix, and OJ."

Sitting the bag down at the small table Sapphire pulls the chair out and sits down making herself comfortable.

"So, I know I havent seen you in a few days, sorry about that work has been pretty crazy."

Pulling a few things from the bag she had Sapphire set them at her, and Gage's seats. Being here felt normal to her. Like it was home, she didn't feel awkward about him as strange as that might have sounded.

"I was thinking I wanted to try and get out of work early today maybe we could take a trip to the store and see about getting you a few more things for around here, and even a Christmas tree as well."

Giving a smile to Gunner Bree couldnt help the small bit of color that came to her face. It was nice to know Gunner would protect her if she needed it. Knowing someone cared that much just made her feel special. Her Uncle cared, and would always protect her as well just with Gunner, it was a different feeling before they had a differnt relationship.

"I'll call you if anything happens. I don't have to work today so I'll probably have my normal non ice cream float in the afternoon and than just head back here. So if your lucky you might see me here, unless I make myself invisible. Than I can see you all I want, but you cant see me."

A slight grin formed on Bree's face coming a little closer to Gunner Bree puts her glass down on the counter and takes Gunner's hand in her own. Standing on her tip toes just a little she leans into him and gives him a quick kiss on the lips before pulling away.

"If you need anything today, you...can call me too."

Smells good

JT is a little surprised to see Bree up, and he gives her a wave just as he's leaving the kitchen. "Good morning, sunshine. Goodnight moonlight." He walks groggily down the hall, totally wiped out from the long night and barely awake. "Behave yourself today."

Gunner is downing his glass of orange juice, and he gives Bree a crooked grin. "Yeah..." He cocks his head, making sure JT is out of earshot. "Best I've slept in a long time actually."

Growing a little sheepish, he chuckles. "I gotta get to work. But if you run into anybody today or you don't feel safe, call me, alright? I'll come over here to spend the night again."

Gage jolts awake to the sound of the knock at the door. It didn't matter how long it had been... fifty percent of the time, he still awoke believing he was in his little room, or cell, rather, back with the Agency. And when the wakeup call came, you were either on your feet within ten seconds, or they got you to your feet for you.

Rolling off the air mattress, he stumbles to his feet, still half asleep and tripping over his blanket. He'd accumulated one hand-me-down overstuffed chair, and he had a small television now, sitting on top of the same table that served as his eating table. The living room was his bedroom too, so one corner held a two laundry baskets - one for clean and one for dirty for when he could walk down to the laundromat.

Blinking in the light coming in through a dingy window, Gage makes it to the door, trying to shake the cobwebs from his mind. All day yesterday had been a trek along the highway with his assigned police officer, picking up trash. All... day. He didn't even known how many miles he'd walked, but he was sore and tired.

Other than going out to fulfill his required service, Gage usually just hibernated in his tiny apartment. He got to spend a little time with Sapphire on good days. Sometimes they went to the park and sometimes Gage got a lemonade as an extra treat. But most days he sat alone, trying to get something to come in on his television, or reverting to the small collection of books.

Unlocking the chain lock, deadbolt, then lock on the handle, Gage opens the door slowly, cautiously. He lived in daily fear of someone from the Agency finding him. But he wouldn't expect them to knock to politely.

Catching sight of Sapphire, a little smile comes to his face and he opens the door wider. He was just in baggy jeans an wrinkled t-shirt, but he didn't care. "Hey, Sapphire. Come on in." He eyes the bag in her hand, not really wanting to hope for a better breakfast than the frozen waffles he had in the freezer. "Something smells good."

Wyatt manages a weary smile at Aerith's original comment. "Why do you think I pull it back?"

Having her hand placed on his own, he curls his fingers around hers, looking back down at the table. A deep sigh follows. "It was a rough night. I guess.... it's just taking me a while to recoup."

Giving her hand a squeeze, he lets her go, then leans back in his booth. It wasn't public knowledge yet, but he knew he could trust Aerith not to tell the wrong people. "Coming back from Texas... me and Hotshot and Katie. We got ambushed." He rubs a sore place on his arm from where he'd landed on the pavement before killing one of the attackers. "I... killed to men... one shot himself, and the other one..." He shakes his head. He wasn't going to describe the exploding gun to Aerith. It was gruesome enough without saying it out loud. "Jason got shot with something that just made him freak.... his emotions, I mean. You know about all that. He just... lost all control. Katie had to help him, and they both... both of them..."

Wyatt stops and swallows, unwanted tears filling behind his eyes as he looks back up to Aerith. "I just had to watch them suffer. It's like seeing a dying animal that you just want to put out of its misery, but they're your friends instead. You just watch them in pain... so much pain..."

Taking a deep breath, he leans forward to fold his arms on the table and rests his forehead down, his face hidden. "I'll be okay," he mumbles. He was always okay. He'd been through worse... right? It had just been so unexpected.

"You're welcome." Sparky gives Rosetta a small smile and a nod.

Just sitting a moment, he bites his lip, then stands up again. "Everybody else is on their way in for breakfast. I saw BJ hanging out with Jeff - he looked like he'd had a good sleepover with Jim and Becky. I think Clint was giving him a little extra attention too."

Pausing, he stands, shifting his weight, feeling like something else should be said, but not knowing what. He wanted to ask if Rosetta was alright, but he thought he pretty well knew the answer. "Um... guess I already said this yesterday but if you need anything else just let me know. Even if you just need to talk or whatever." He shrugs. "You know where to find me."

Another day

Having the small of coffee hit her nose Rosetta shifts on the couch just a little. Sleep was hard to come by lastnight and sometime in the wee hours of the morning she had finally feel asleep. But now it was time to wake, and it wasnt as easy as normal. BJ wasnt around to bother her into getting up and Mick wasnt there to greet her. Than the thought strikes her. Who had made the coffee?

Feeling the couch shift just a little and than hearing Sparky's voice Rosetta opens her eyes slowly. They were red and bloodshot along with puffy just the mark of someone who had cryed themself to sleep the night before.

Sitting up and pushing the little blanket to the side Rosetta takes the warm drink and holds it in her hands for a moment not saying anything. Looking up at Sparky Rosetta gives a soft smile. She was thankful he had come, if he hadnt she might not have gotten up at all.

"Thank you Sparky. It means alot that you took the time to come over here. You've always been there when I needed you. So...thanks."

Taking a sip of the warm liqued Rosetta lets it slide down her throat. Closing her eyes for a moment as her mind wonders to places she wished it wouldn't. Mick's message from last night still fresh in her mind.

Looking up from her work at Rick Misty gives a nod. She was still working on breaking down whatever was on the dark It felt like she was getting closer to finding something that helped know what had happened.

"I'll keep an eye on them. If anything changes you will be the first to know."

Looking up from drying some glasses Thirteen looks out into the crowds of people. It made her nervous having this many people around but this was her job now. She would just have to try and be strong.

"Ohh....ok."

Setting the glass down and taking her note pad and pen Thirteen make her way over to the table. Her hand a little shaky but trying to do her best anyways.

Walking over to the booth where Wyatt was Aerith takes her name tag off so no one thinks she was working while talking with Wyatt. Slipping into the booth across from him she just studys him for a long moment. The look in his eye was one that was almost sad though she wasnt sure why.

"Mmmm...I always like it when you tie your hair back."

Giving a soft smile Aerith reaches her hand across the table and rests it on top of Wyatt's. It did worry her a little bit to see Wyatt like this. It wasn't often she saw him down and out.

"Penny for your thoughts Hun? I got the time."

Giving a stretch as the sunlight shone through the crack in the curtains right into her eyes it takes a moment for Bree to remember why she was on the couch. But than the night before comes back to her and just for a second she lays there a smile on her lips. Hearing voices in the kitchen Bree stands and makes her way in there.

"Morning Good Uncle JT, Vamp."

Walking over to the frige Bree gaves on of the small bottles of OJ and drinks it in almost a few gulps before looking at Gunner again and cocking her head just a little.

"I am guessing you slept good last night? I know I did."

A light tap at the door sounds as Sapphire stands on the other side with a bag of burger kind breakfast food. She had no idea if Gage would be up yet but she just wanted some company before heading into work.

Long night turns into morning

Jade grins and nods, slipping away to get the movie going. She hadn't even noticed the music playing on the DVD menu until now. No wonder Sparky had been drawn to the living room. Shaking her head at herself and putting a hand to her warm face, she flops down on the couch and waits for Dan to return. It would be a nice quiet evening and would help her unwind before heading to bed.

Miles away, Mick lies in bed, staring up at the dark ceiling. It was quiet here... way too quiet. Rolling over, his arm flops down to the empty half of the mattress. A wave of loneliness washes over him as his fingers play with the sheets. His arms felt empty and cold. There was no one to hold close. There was no beating heart to lull him to sleep. Rolling back over, he turns his eyes to the wall. Tonight hadn't been too rough. Tomorrow would be worse and he knew it. But he had to stay... he had to.

Sparky sits down in the comfortable chair near his bed and sips from the bottle of water he'd retrieved from the kitchen. A small grin toys at his lips as he recalls Dan and Jade, and he shakes his head.

Leaning his head back, he listens to the soft music of the CD he'd put in to help him relax so he could get to sleep. It had been a long day. There were a lot of things off kilter right now, and he just hoped that tomorrow would be better.

JT slips into the house, yawning big as he shuts the door behind himself. He'd been surprised to see Bree's car outside - he hadn't thought she'd spend the night, but it was just as well. He liked knowing she was safe and sound.

Yawning again, he hangs up his jacket then trudges through the living room, pausing to see Gunner on the couch. Quirking an eyebrow, he cocks his head and wanders a little closer, finding the body way too big. Then seeing tufts of blonde hair, he realizes that Bree is with him. A soft smile emerges and he turns to leave.

Gunner is roused by the quiet sounds of the door and clanking in the kitchen, trying to pry his eyes open. He had no idea what time it was, but it was getting a little lighter in the living room. Stretching a little, he stops, realizing if he kept going, he was going to shove Bree right off onto the floor. He'd forgotten she was there. He was so warm and cozy though, he didn't want to move. The corner of his eye catches movement and he realizes that JT was home.

"What time is it?" he mumbles

JT turns back around and chuckles. "Seven-thirty."

"Mmm... I gotta get to work." Gunner yawns and props himself on an elbow, trying to figure out how to get up without disturbing Bree.

JT grins. "Don't worry - you could drop her on the floor and she wouldn't wake up. Trust me. I thought she was dead a couple times."

Gunner lifts his eyebrows and gives a sleepy laugh. Managing to get himself untangled and up and over Bree, he leaves her on the couch, pulling the blanket up to her chin. JT was right, thought he was still amazed Bree hadn't woken up.

"Late night?" JT inquires.

Gunner can feel a bit of heat in his face as he reaches for his bag. "Not really."

JT eyes him as he straightens, catching his gaze. "Don't hurt her, Gunner... she's had enough of that in her life."

Gunner purses his lips and nods. "I won't."

"Good. I'm going to bed now."

Gunner watches him leave, then heads to the bathroom to shower and dress, winding up in the kitchen to down a glass of orange juice for breakfast before he left for the day.

Carson moves about the kitchen, pots and pans clanging and rattling. They'd only been open half and hour, and already they were busy. It seemed everyone in town wanted breakfast that morning. Many times, Carson had considered not opening until lunchtime - there were few Italian restaurants that served traditional American breakfasts... it didn't seem to fit at all. But every morning, the business was too good for him to think about delaying the opening until lunch. Mom and Pop's was a unique restaurant for sure... Italian... American... a combination of the two... but it seemed to work.

"Hey, Thirteen, you can go ahead and take the orders at table five," he directs gently. It was only her second day there. Ryder dropped her off early on his way to the zoo, and Carson kept a close ey on her, trying not to overwhelm her.

The front bell rings again and he glances out. Watching the visitor slowly sink into his favorite booth, Carson frowns. Something wasn't right. Towel in hand, he goes to Aerith and points to Wyatt's sullen form. "You got a break. Looks like somebody needs something more than food this morning."

Wyatt sits in the booth, his hair pulled back, and his leather jacket still on. He was cleaned up and recovering from the horrible night before, but he was still tired. The cleanup crew had called in and confirmed that the ambush had been Agency. Men were buried. Everything was cleaned up. But the mental images remained.

He stares down at the table and spins a saltshaker in his hand absentmindedly.

Rick rubs a tired hand over his face as he checks on Katie once again. She was still sleeping. He'd periodically given her pain medication, though was easing off the doses, now not knowing if she was still in pain or not. He had changed the bandage on her hand once, and had started her on a slow iv to give her nutrients. It was all he could think to do, when the symptoms were so foreign. Jason was no exception.

He moves to his second patient, checking Jason's pulse and taking his temperature again. He still had a fever, but it had gone down a little. His pulse was stronger. But he too lay in sleep. Neither had woken since they'd been brought in last night. Rick changes Jason's iv too, then wanders to Misty's desk. "I'm going home for about two hours, then I'll be back and you can take a rest too. If anything happens though, call me at home."

Morning at the ranch moved about as normal. Everyone knew their tasks, but chores did take a little longer. One might not think that losing one set of hands would make that much difference, but Micks' absence only proved how much work he did on a daily basis.

Sparky directs some of them men to fill in the gaps, also pitching in a few places he didn't normally work. Once breakfast is being prepared though, he had yet to see the one person he was wondering about this morning...

...The smell of coffee fills the kitchen as a small cup of the steaming drink is poured. It's carefully carried into the living room as Sparky eases down to sit on the edge of the couch. He lays a hand on Rosetta's shoulder, his other cradling the cup of coffee. "Rise and shine," he prompts gently.

Embarssed

As the cain of events unfolded, the fridge door, Jade jumping, and Sparky's voice Dan pulls away and turns around leaning on the table. Dan couldn't help a small wave on nerves run over him, after what happened with Mick he just was a little on edge.

But calming as Sparky words come Dan can only shake his head and laugh. He could tell his own cheeks were red now as Sparky indeed had seen them. Dan didnt mind holding hands in public and giving quick kiss to let everyone know a woman was his. But something about a more intamit kiss Dan just felt was better left for when they were alone.

Once left standing there again Dan looks down at Jade and gives a soft smile. His hand coming to her face and just brushing a lose peace of hair behind her ear.

"I guess Mr. Jones is waiting. Why dont you pop in the movie, I'll got get are drinks and than we can sit and watch it."

Going into the kitchen before getting some glasses Dan leans aganst the counter top his eyes closed for a moment as his arms are crossed over his chest. Taking in a few deeps breaths before opening his eyes again and moving to get the drinks once more.

Indiana Jones

Jade loves being in Dan's arms. Not just because he offered a warm shelter, but because she knew that he was enjoying her too. Moving over to the table, her giggle is muffled as she refuses to stop the kiss, even though she was jostled around a little bit.

Sitting on the table, she cocks her head the other way, having completely forgotten about the popcorn or the movie. Realizing that Dan liked her fingers in his hair, she runs her fingertips above his ears then down to his neck, just letting the embrace keep on.

All of a sudden, the refrigerator door closing echos in the kitchen. Jade gives a little jump and her eyes fly open, freezing right where she was, still involved in the kiss. Before anything else can be done, a man's calm voice interrupts the dim setting.

"Don't let Indiana Jones keep you up too late, you two. Lots to do tomorrow."

Jade eases away from Dan and slides off the table beside him, straightening out her shirt a little and running a hand through her own hair. She calls back into the kitchen. "Thanks, Sparky. Goodnight." Her eyes look back to Dan, giving him a silly look that proved she was glad her uncle had not caught them. She flinches though, when Sparky's voice comes again, this time much closer as he pokes his head in through the other door on his way out of the dining hall.

"And uh, careful. That's one of Rosetta's favorite tables." Letting just the corner of his mouth upturn, Sparky throws them a wink before disappearing again.

Jade's eyes widen as she stares at the empty doorway. He had seen them. Her cheeks automatically grow crimson before she puts a hand to her mouth to muffle her giggle. Turning back to Dan, she tries to keep from laughing. "I guess Indiana Jones is waiting."

Continue....

As Jade wraps her legs around Dan's wast he couldn't help the small smile that formed on his face but didn't break the kiss. Dan couldn't help wanting to be this close to Jade, she fit so perfectly in his arms.

Everything around the seemed to melt away as Dan continued the emotion and passion in the kiss. Nothing else mattered but this moment and this woman that was in his arms. As Jade runs her fingers through Dan's hair a murmur escapes his lips proving how much he liked when she did that.

As Jade pulls away Dan figured the kiss was done, even though he really didnt want to. Looking into those eyes that had captured him from the day he met Jade, Dan was suprised when Jade came in for another kiss and openly welcomed it. Kissing was just another thing Jade was good at.

Bringing his free hand up an through Jade's hair, and to the side of her face to cradle it gently Dan pulls away only to turn his head and come back once again still not ready to let this moment end. Slowly walking over to a table the kiss still in progress to set her down on top of it.

Erm...

Jade's heart started to race as Dan leaned closer. The last time they'd really kissed, they'd been interrupted by her irate father. Being alone with Dan now sent a shiver down her spine.

Her eyes still closed, she takes in Dan's kiss, returning it softly. Feeling herself being picked up, a surprised laugh is muffled by their kiss, but she doesn't resist. His strong arms around her were too warm... too comforting to not let him pick her up.

Wrapping her legs around his waist so she didn't slide back down, her arms drape around his neck until her hands find his hair. The passion of her kiss increases as she rakes her fingers through his hair, totally caught up in the moment. Pausing to catch her breath, Jade looks into Dan's eyes, a grin spreading on her face before she returns to his lips once more.

Tango

It made Dan's heart falutter knowing he was the first ever to say that to Jade. Not sure why it made his heart jump, but it just felt good.

Bringing his hand underneath Jade's chin Dan pushes just a little to tilt Jade's head up so he could look her in the eyes. Studying them for a long moment Dan could get lost in them. They were so dark, yet bright at the same time. Feeling his heart thump Dan leans into Jade, the pounding in his easy but oh to taste her lips again was something he would ignore all else for.

Coming with in inches of Jade's face Dan stops feeling Jade's breath on his skin takes his own away causing his words to come out in a whisper.

"The popcorn can wait for now, this seems to be more important."

Pressing his lips to Jade's Dan can feel all the emotions that washed over him come back once again. Starting out slowly with the kiss than giving it more feeling His arms hold Jade close as the one cradles her head. Picking her up once again put this time just holding her.

No one

Jade can feel heat rising to her face as she stares up into Dan's eyes. Her hands had been clenched as she'd been caught, but slowly her fingers spread so her palms rest against his chest.

The mischief fades from her eyes, replaced by something gentler. Her voice comes out soft, almost like she's afraid to speak. "No one has... has ever said something like that to me before."

She closes her eyes leans her head a little into Dan's hand, liking the way it felt against her cheek. "I have to... go pick up the popcorn," she muses quietly, but doesn't want to move.

Call

Continuing to laugh Dan couldn't believe he was doing this. Chasing Jade around the table like a little kid. It felt good to have fun again. Seeing Jade's attempt to escape Dan was a few steps ahead of her. Moving to the right Dan wraps his arms around Jade as she runs smack dab into his chest.

Keeping his arms around Jade Dan looks down at her a grin on his face, and a look behind his eyes that would make someone think he was looking at one of the most valuable things in the world. And to him he was.

"In that case you better start cleaning it up because you captured my heart days ago."

Bringing a hand to Jade's face Dan runs a thumb over her cheek just feeling her sweet soft skin under this fingers. He could feel his heart picking up again as his hands trembled just a little.

Taking the dart back to her desk Misty sits it down and clears a few other things off her desk. She wanted to start working on Axel's nerve sample tonight but that would have to wait. Right now this dart was more important to know about.

Returning to her desk once again Misty takes her cell and looks through the contacts for a moment till she found Axel's number. Getting his voice mail Misty just leaves a quick message.

"Hey Axel, I just wanted to call and let you know its going to be a little bit before I can start working on your nerve samples. Some things came up that I have to do tests on and what not with Katie and Jason, and so I need to get that stuff done first. I am hopping it wont take to long and than I can get back to doing your stuff."

Hanging up the phone Misty new she didnt have to call Axel but she felt like she should. It was him who was going through all this after all. If it was her she would want to be updated so she could only do the same for Axel.

Finished with her phone call Misty take the sample once again and heads over to the counter. Trying to deiced what tests she was going to start first. Maybe seeing if she see what the breakdown on the dart she could at least see what they were dealing with and that was a notch in there belt in figuring out what went on.

More fun

"I don't know." Rick's tone was grim. He had no idea what had happened here tonight. He'd seen some strange and amazing things with Jason and Katie since their connection had manifested... Katie and her ability to help Jason, later finding she could use it on others as well. Jason and his struggle with emotions, making him sick, then gaining control. There had been some rough days. Rick remembered when Jason had frequently gone through battles with flashbacks due to the emotional strain - those had been dark days that were scary. But this... this was something completely different. This was not simply a physical reaction to an overload of suppressed emotions. This was a physical reaction plus an emotional outburst - both of which were taken to the extreme, and both of which had nothing to do with suppression. These weren't pent-up emotions that Jason had held in that needed release - that had been the cause for trauma in the past. This had been sudden and violent. "Wyatt?"

Wyatt was still close by, drained and still in a bit of shock. "Yeah?"

"You said we couldn't separate them. Tell me why."

"I already did."

"Tell me again."

"Well... Jason got shot with that dart. When he went down, a few seconds later, he blew out the headlight in the van. Katie took his hand - I guess to absorb the energy so Jason wouldn't hurt himself or anybody else. Then..." Wyatt rubs his forehead, trying to think without reliving the nightmare. "Um, Jason let go or something, and a couple windows in the van went out. I tied their hands together and it didn't happen again."

Rick sighs deeply. "It's obvious that Katie was absorbing everything Jason was putting out. I mean, she does that naturally anyway, it was just intentional this time so Jason didn't blow everything to bits. What I want to know is where on earth that energy came from. We know his normal level comes from emotions, or emotions that he summons as he's now able to control it. But this was totally out of his control, he didn't intentionally summon any of it, and it wasn't from emotions that were dormant."

"How do you know?" Wyatt questions. "I mean, we don't know if he was keeping emotions locked up. How do we know that the shock of our ambush didn't give those emotions a way out?"

Rick shakes his head. "If that were true, it would have been one, maybe two outbursts, then it would have been over."

"But it wasn't like that with his flashbacks."

"Ah, but when Jason was taken down because of that, his physical state was much determined by the flashback itself, not the emotions. The emotions attacked those bad memories because it was a weak spot, but it was a combination of the flashback and negative emotions that made him sick."

"So... maybe he had flashback?"

Rick shakes his head again. "When was the last time Jason blew a window out while having a flashback?"

"But he's stronger now - maybe it's different."

"Did he say anything about Alex? Or the room?"

"No... he couldn't talk as far as I could see."

"Was he in his own world, or did he seem with it, just unable to speak?"

"Yeah, like when his eyes were able to focus, I could tell he kinda knew what was going on."

"Then I don't believe it was a flashback." Rick continues with Misty to bandage up Katie's right hand and Jason's left. "Process of elimination. It just doesn't add up right. Something in that dart caused a sudden and violent emotional overload - so extreme that Jason had no control. My guess is that it was so strong, he couldn't hold them in, and the energy started to break things. While on the inside, the energy started tearing him apart, which is why he got so sick so fast. We've already proven that Jason's extra emotions change molecular structure."

"And Katie?"

Rick purses his lips, looking down at her still form. "If it weren't for her, you'd probably be dead. Taking on all that Jason was emitting... it could only tear her up too. The pain must have been enormous."

Wyatt swallows hard. This whole thing had been more dangerous than he'd like to admit. "So now what?"

"Hopefully the sedative will last in Jason long enough for the excess emotions to dissolve. Then... we wait." Rick turns to Misty. "We need to get them washed and into some clean clothes." He then directs Reese. "You and Wyatt can bring in the bed from the spare room so they both can be in here."

It takes some doing, but eventually, the two beds are set up and Jason and Katie are both cleaned up and covered with blankets. Rick draws some of Jason's blood and gives Misty the job of analyzing samples from the dart that Wyatt had brought. He assumed that whatever it was, was an amplifier of sorts, but if they could isolate it, they would then be able to work with it.

Sitting at the counter, Rick glances over his shoulder at the two resting agents. Katie seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep, her pulse weak, but steady. Jason had a high fever and appeared to be unconscious. Rick hadn't said so, but it would be a miracle if they woke up at all with the trauma they'd both been through. If the strain had lasted any longer than it had... he didn't want to think about it.

Sighing, he turns to pick up the phone and dial, speaking quietly. "Hey, Hon, it's me... I'm sorry, I'm not going to be home tonight."

Out in the hall, Wyatt finds himself alone. Looking one way, then the other, all was empty. Everything was quiet - except his mind. The images from tonight would be burned in his mind forever, and it was all he could do not to get sick himself, just from seeing the nightmare again.

Leaning back against the wall, he slowly sinks to the floor with his head in his hands.

In his office, Reese prepares leave for the night. But tomorrow he would be in early to start a thorough investigation. He wanted to know how the Agency knew where his three agents would be, and why they attacked. There were a lot of unanswered questions.

Jade gives a little shriek as Dan gets up to try and chase her. Going one way, then another, she avoids him, managing to put the popcorn bowl down before she spilled it everywhere.

Seeing Dan stop and laugh, she smiles from ear to ear, the mischief still glinting in her eyes. "It's more fun this way," she counters teasingly.

The couch was her goal, but if she moved to the front, she knew Dan would be quick to catch her. Taking a step in that direction, she fakes it, spinning around and going the other way. Unfortunately, she wasn't quick enough for Dan and she ends up plowing right into him. Breathing heavily she laughs and looks up at him innocently as she's caught. "Captors have to clean up the popcorn," she threatens.

Chase

Sitting down on the couch waiting for Jade Dan kicks his works boots off just letting his feet rest for a little while. The movie was already put in and now Dan was just really to take it easy letting his mind drift as he waited for Jade.

Being broken from his train of thought buy the peace of popcorn that comes flying into his lap Dan can't help but jump at first not seeing was it was. Than hearing the soft chuckle in the background a grin forms on his own lips.

Getting off the couch quickly Dan takes some twords Jade as she goes around the other way. Starting back that way, Dan cant help the big smile that spreads on his face.

"Ohhhh sure, your gonna throw popcorn untill I get up. After that you don't want to play anymore huh? I'll get you sooner or later you wait and see."

Dan stands on the far end of where Jade was his arms crossed over his chest as he gave a long laugh.

As all was silent for a moment Katie hope Rick would listen to her. She couldnt open her eyes and check, she could only wait and hope. But as Rick's words his her ears could fell a small wave of releaf wash over her thought all the torment.

I'm not going anywhere J!

Getting the needle ready for Rick Misty moves quickly. Seeing her two friends like this was a nightmare in its own. Misty had seen them bad before but nothing like this.

"I sure hope this works."

Misty gets behind Jason on the bed and helps hold his arm down while Rick trys to steady needle. Once Rick was done Misty covered where the puncher was and placed a bandage on top. It was hardly anything but it made her feel like she was helping some how.

Katie can feel Jason's emotions start to slow, and the pain started to leave her body though she new for a while she would be sore from how tight her muscles were. But it Jason was ok, and she was ok and they were there together. Finally being able to not have to worry about it as much Katie seems to slip into her own sleep. Letting her body recoup as much as it could.

Going to get the ointment and gauze for Rick Misty pick two differnt kind of burn creams and brings them back over to Rick. Taking Jason's hand and turning it over to dress his burn Misty looks at the mark for a long moment before back at Rick.

"It looked like someone branded them. Its almost to prefect to have just happend. But if there hands were together how?"

Misty looks at Rick for answers she new that he might not even have. It was strange that something like this should happen. What did it all mean?

Spiral

Jade laughs. "I don't care what we watch either. We can check out what's by the tv - maybe we'll find a nice action flick."

Once the rounds are made and everything is done for the night, Jade heads with Dan to the dining hall. It was empty - most everyone was settling down in their houses and bunks. Jade flips on a small lamp then the tv, going to scan the movies. "Hmm.... let's see...."

Indiana Jones is finally settled on, and while Jade lets Dan put it in, she goes to the kitchen to make some popcorn. Getting them both something to drink, then returning with a bowl of popcorn a few minutes later, she stops several feet behind the couch. It was too perfect. Dan was just sitting there with his back to her. Mischief sparks in Jade's eyes as she picks up a single kernel of popcorn. Flicking it into the air, it flies over Dan's shoulder and into his lap.

Rick is just ready to pierce Jason's skin when he hears Katie. Stopping, his hand shook slightly as the tension she was emitting starting to affect him too. His eyes glance to Misty and back to Katie. "I just need to calm down his emotions, Katie... you both will feel better. It won't kill you - you've had it before."

But her forced statement makes him second-guess himself. The needle hovers over Jason's arm.
"It will kills us." Did she know something he didn't? But the antidote was safe. They'd tried it. Tested it. It worked. It would calm Jason's emotions, which were obviously causing this stress.

Rick moves the needle to press it on Jason's arm. But another glance in Misty's direction and he gives up. "Alright, Katie," he gives in quietly, patting her arm. "But if it something else doesn't work, we've got to try this."

Jason would have relaxed, had he been able to.
Thank you, Katie... thank you.

Rick hands the syringe back to Misty. "Sleep, huh... let's try a regular sedative. Maybe if Jason's body calms down, the emotions will follow. It's worth a try."

With Misty's help, Rick prepares a different needle. It proves difficult as Jason's convulsions have not lessened. "Misty, help hold him down."

Jason fights against further restraint, writhing and lashing out uncontrollably. But once Rick has aim, a split second is all it takes. The formula races through Jason's veins, forcing his body to stop fighting the emotional barrage. Another bout of vomiting and Jason is totally wiped out, But as the minutes pass and Rick watches, slowly, slowly, the tension seems to lessen. Jason's writing begins to decrease and his pulse begins to slow.

That's it.... it's... it's going away... Katie, I... I love you. Just stay... stay with me.

Rick wipes sweat from his brow, feeling Katie's tension begin to slack as well. "Holy cow." Waiting a few more minutes, it seems that calming the body forces the emotions to disperse. It had worked before, but Rick had assumed that a battle this severe would take severe action. Apparently though, the sedative was doing it's job. He pats Katie again. "Good girl, Katie."

After a few more minutes, Jason and Katie both seem to be lying more still and Rick dares to separate them. Wyatt stands near and watches, having been staying out of the way. Rick gently takes Jason and Katie's hands and slowly unravels the belt. He eyes them both hesitantly, knowing that if the battle wasn't over, he could be sorry. But he had to see. Separating their hands, he holds his breath. Thankfully, nothing happens. Jason and Katie both had seemed to finally slip into unconsciousness.

When Rick looks at their palms though, his eyes widen. "Good gracious." He looks to Misty. "Look at this."

Turning over their palms, both have been severely burned. It wasn't just a patch though that had spread. It was a very clear spiral pattern, painfully burned into their flesh. "Wow." Rick blinks, hardly believing it. "Um.... get me some... ointment and gauze, would you, Misty?"

Cuddle

Feeling movment and hearing voices Katie new Wyatt had her. She wanted to move on her own, but trying to do that ontop of everything else, sent more pain through her body. So she had to let Wyatt carry her.

Stay with me J, its gonna be ok. I love you, I love you so much. We are in the helicopter now I think.

The chopper ride seemed so long her body ached, her stomach churned, and her head felt like it would explode. But trying to stay from passing out, it braught Katie a tiny bit of comfort to know she was doing this for J.

The minutes pass and the plan lands Katie doesn't open her eyes as she continues to whimper form the pain. But where else would they be. Rick and Reese voice are a confirmation to where they were.

After a bunch of jolting around, and fumbaling as people tryed to carry J and her both. Katie's body only relaxs for a moment as she rests on the bed, but it was short lived as she tensed up again the pain running through her, her whimpers and gasps in pain continue.

J...I....I dont know...if I can talk...it....I'll...try.

Mustering what she could Katie trys to open her eyes thought they wont. Just keeping them closed, Katie reaches down deep pulling what she had, no matter how it hurt she had to. Moving her lips and pushing her voice forward Katie whispers.

"N...No...Ri....not the...Anidote. It...will kill..us. Sleep....some sleep."

Katie new her words were distorted and didn't make sense but she only hope Rick would listen to her. It was all she could do, everything was tight...and the pain...oh the pain it hurt enough just taking Jason's emotions and drawing them out at the same time without having to try and make complete sentences too.

Walking with Jade and swinging her hand just a little bit it was nice to walk in the brisk air and havind Jade with him to warm is heart was even nicer. A small grin on his face as he walked with Jade Dan heart fluttered just being close to Jade.

"I think a move sounds great. Not sure what kind you like to watch, but I am up for anything."

Dan couldnt help but let him mind wonder to what would come with watching a movie. Eating popcorn and snuggling it sounded almost two perfect.

Not the antidote

Jason's mind latches onto Katie's silent words, groping to feel her. Writhing on the ground, he utters no sound, all of his energy being funneled to the only one that could take it.

The wind and noise picks up and Wyatt stands, staring up at the bright light of the helicopter. Waving his arms so the pilot would see him, he watches it land just a short ways away from the scene of mayhem. Jogging up to the helicopter, he ducks under the wind, waiting for the pilot to get out. "I need your help. I can't get them both by myself."

Todd nods and exits, his helmet still in place as he removes his gloves. "Where are they?" he shouts above the wind.

"Here." Wyatt waves him to follow around the dead bodies. Getting nearer, he feels the same thing he did before he'd walked away. Fear. Nervousness. It wasn't like him to panic, but something was getting to him, and he knew it must be Katie. Turning to Todd, he warns him. "I know this is gonna seem weird, but trust me - you'll probably get nervous. It's just Katie. Try to ignore it and just get us back to Nevada."

Todd isn't sure he understands, but he nods anyway.

Nearing the two on the ground, Wyatt squats down, trying to turn Katie over and get her at least partway to her feet. Todd struggles with Jason's shaking body, finding it hard to move him at all. "It would be easier if they weren't tied together," he pants. "What's up with that?"

"No!" Wyatt is quick to make sure Todd doesn't undo the belt. "If we don't keep them together, we're never getting out of here."

Todd pauses, his surprise just giving fear an opportunity to latch on as it's amplified by Katie. His face pales and he swallows hard, now knowing what Wyatt was talking about. "Right... right, okay." He tries again to get Jason up, finally getting him to his feet, though Todd has to support all of his weight.

Wyatt lifts Katie into his arms at the same time, carrying her close enough to not put strain on their hands. "Alright. One, two three."

Both men start forward at the same time, a strange fear gripping both of them as they fight to keep going and not run from a panic. Jason's feet drag on the pavement. He knew where he was and what was happening, but he couldn't get any of his limbs to work properly. Wyatt holds Katie close, ducking as they reach the helicopter. Todd fumbles with the door latch, and when it's open, miraculously, they get both the others inside. Thankfully it was a large enough aircraft that Jason and Katie could be placed on the floor. It was more dangerous, but there was no way they'd be able to buckle them in seats.

Receiving a thumbs up, Todd runs around to the pilot chair and grabs his radio as he begins to take off again. "This is Elite Chopper two-sixty-seven, Davey, we need a cleanup crew out on highway four-thirty-two before the coyotes come. Over."

Wyatt grits his teeth as he stares down at Katie, then Jason. They were both in bad shape. It was amazing to see, as neither had been hit with bullets, but their lives were in danger.

Jason's convulsions had ceased briefly, but they start again, even more violently. His hand tears at the belt, causing both his and Katie's wrists to bleed.

"Jason, Jason, come on, steady." Wyatt kneels next to him, trying to hold him still.

Jason's eyes flutter, and his stomach drops as they take off into the air. He tries again to speak, but there's just nothing coming out.
What... where are we... what's happening?
Wincing as his body revolts, he begins to vomit, unable to control himself.

Todd looks back to check on them, seeing what's happening. "Wyatt, get his head up!" he orders. "Keep him from choking."

Wyatt does as he's told, winding up with Jason's head in his lap. Putting a hand to Jason's forehead, more fear arises. He was burning up. "Todd! Mic!" A radio mic is tossed back to him and within minutes, he's got a hold of Rick. "They're bad, Rick. Katie looks like she's in bad pain and disoriented. Jason won't stop throwing up and he's got a fever. We can't separate them or else Jason will blow up the copter."

"You're kidding me."

"You want to switch places and see for yourself?"

"Just hang tight, Wyatt. Do you have a first aid kit with you?"

Wyatt could kick himself. "No. It's still in the van. We've already taken off."

"Alright. Then just keep Jason's head up and let whatever comes come. Get Katie as close to him as you can and I'll be here when you land."

The trip seems to take an eternity. Wyatt himself was on autopilot, stunned by the whole situation, and barely able to keep himself from a panic as he had to sit near Katie. Jason was a mess, and so was everything else. Wyatt managed to find a cloth and some water, mopping Jason and Katie's brows, and trying to sooth their wrists, though he knew it must be painful. Wyatt had killed. He'd been in battle. He'd been on rescue missions. He'd seen his own fall before him. But never had he seen this torture, and it was gut-wrenching.

Thankfully, the TJY parking lot was big enough to land the chopper. Rick and Reese were both there, and Rick had also called Misty back in to work. Between all of them, they're able carry and drag Jason and Katie into the building. It's utter chaos with the small group with not enough room between cubicles and tripping over each other. But all were aware they couldn't separate Katie and Jason's hands.

Once in the infirmary, Rick directs Wyatt and Reese to deposit their friends together on the bed. It was just big enough to hold them both. Jason's continued convulsions shake the entire bed. He was completely drenched in sweat and his mouth was moving as if mumbling, but no sound was heard. Rick checks on Katie, finding her barely lucid and seeing immediately that she was in worse pain than every before. It was a miracle she had not passed out.

"Misty, get me the antidote syringe and do it fast." Rick points to the cabinet. "It's the only way to stop Jason's emotions from wreaking havoc and we'll give Katie a dose too so she can relax."

Retrieving the needle, Rick pulls off Jason's jacket and begins to prep his arm.

Jason continues to shake, his hand still fused to Katie's.
No.... no, don't let him.
He tries to cry out to Rick, but it does no good.
Katie... he can't.... tell him... the antidote will kill me. Please... tell him... sedative... sedative, not the antidote. He can't give me the antidote.

Gunner smiles and sighs a deep, contented sigh, his arm tucking Bree in close. One moment... one short moment had changed everything. And it allowed him the privilege of holding her next to him now. It felt good to be on the other end this time - him holding her, instead of the other way around. In a matter of a few minutes, Gunner had discovered what it meant to care for someone else. And it was filling a hole that he never even knew existed until now.

Closing his eyes, he'd never know how fast asleep he was. Exhaustion had taken over, and he was done for the day. Only a few hours later did he wake, but just to pull a blanket over them both then put his arm back around Bree and fall asleep again.

Jade's cheek's flush, but she smiles anyway. She liked Dan's comments - they made her feel nice and warm, even if they were sappy. Curling her fingers around his, she nods. "I'd like to walk with you. I've been hibernating all day and I need to stretch my legs."

Heading out of the barn hand-in-hand, Jade breathes deep the evening air. "Can we watch a movie later?" she asks. Most likely, the main living room off the dining area would be empty, leaving the nice big television to be used. "I can pop some popcorn." In reality, she just wanted a distraction. Though she loved talking with Dan, tonight she wanted to give her mind and heart a break.

Night Falls

It hurt, it hurt so bad but Katie had to do it. It was part of her duty, to Jason, and to herself when she said she wanted this. Just continuing to soak in all of the emotions Katie took the bad, and her mind felt like it was going to break. But she had to hold on she had to.

Feeling than hands break apart Katie gives a louder grown. She needed there hands back together but she could hardly even hold her fingers. But re-leaf washes over her as Wyatt comes over to help. Happy for his smarts to use his belt so Katie wouldn't have to try and ask. Looking up at Wyatt Katie opens her eyes a little. She was in so much pain and she new her eyes showed it but that was one of the smartest thing Wyatt could of done.

"Th.....ou...Wy."

Katie's fingers locking with Jason's again Katie once again tried to obsorbe all his emotions. Katie could only imagen how much pain Jason must be in as well.

I'm hear J. I wont be leaving you.

Katie sucks in a breath of air as the pain become unbearable for a moment.

You can hold on, you can do it for me. I love you J, just focus on me.

Linking her fingers with Gunner's Bree follows him back inside, a smile on her face that just seemed to be stuck there, as her heart still raced.

Sinking down on the couch with Gunner, Bree had never been with someone like this before but it felt nice, and made her feel safe. Gunner's strong arms around her, it was just a feeling she liked. Nestling her head into Gunner's arm Bree gives a soft whisper, right now she was scaired to be in her own home.

"I'll stay with you, I dont want to be alone ether."

Smiling his arms still around Jade, Dan gives a small nod. Jade gave him such a nice feeling, he felt whole again, it was the time feeling he had felt with Becca yes it was completely different because it was Jade.

"I love it here to much to leave just yet. Anyways, would could be better than seeing your smiling face every day?"

Dan new he was being such a sap but he had always been that way with people he cared about. He still didnt know Jade as well as some people did but Dan was looking forward to being able to. There was just something about her.

Slipping his hand to and locking his fingers with Jade he smiles. Giving her hand a gentil squeeze.

"The last thing I need to do is just talk a walk around the parimiter and make sure everything is in order. Your more than welcome to come with me, and than afterward we can do whatever you like. I'll let you choose tonight. Even if you just wanna sit and talk I am up for that."

I think so too

Being held by Dan, Jade felt safe. She'd been held before, even by someone she'd called her boyfriend. But it wasn't the same. Dan was so much stronger... so much more a shelter... so much warmer. It was so different that Jade wondered how she ever could have thought before that she'd found Mr. Right. Compared to this, it had felt so wrong, but she hadn't realized that until now.

Having her face lifted up and receiving Dan's light kiss, she gives a little shiver. His tenderness gave her goosebumps. Looking up into his eyes and feeling his hand on her face, she manages the strength to give him a little smile. "I think I can be strong... as long as you stick around. You're going to stay... aren't you?"

Gunner can't help the grin on his face. The chilly air didn't seem cold at all - not with Bree in his arms. Her words made him feel good. He hadn't messed up, and she had liked his kiss. He hadn't done something wrong after all, and it helped dissolve some of his awkwardness.

Still smiling, he hugs Bree tighter, letting her face rest against his chest. "I think we are too." He'd been afraid that this might ruin their friendship, but it surprised him now to find that he liked this even better. It was a whole new level, and one that felt good.

Eventually pulling away, his hand slips down to take hers, slipping back inside the dining room. Guiding her back through the house to the living room, the warmer air now felt good. The television was still droning and Gunner reaches down to flip it off before aiming for the couch.

The room was dark now, but it wasn't a scary dark. Tonight, he wasn't afraid of the shadows. He was exhausted from lack of sleep the night before, but felt like he could conquer the world at the same time. It was a strange, good feeling.

Flopping down on the couch and onto his side, he pulls Bree down in front of him so his arm could drape around her, her head right below his chin. "Stay here a while?" he asks quietly. "I don't want to be alone."

Though already so far gone, Jason feels Katie's fingers link with his, and he automatically latches on. Putting her hand in a vice grip, it felt like his palm was burning against hers. His eyes scrunch shut tightly as pain surges through his entire body like a gigantic electrical shock.

It... it hurts so bad... I can't... can't control it.

He writhes on the ground, fighting against himself and against the horrific wave of emotions that didn't have an end. They seemed to spread through every fiber, tearing him apart inside out. And worse, he could not keep them from bursting forth. With Katie's hand on his, she was the only cushion between him and everything around him. Like a sponge, she would absorb the shock and he knew it. But he also knew that if she didn't, they were all dead.

Wyatt hears Katie's scream and comes running around the side of the van. "Katie! Jason! What..." Getting close to them, he kneels just in time to hear Katie's words. He didn't understand what was happening, but seeing the broken headlight, he knew it was bad. "I'll get help. Don't move." As if they could.

Wyatt didn't know what to do, but out of desperation, he goes back to the van, grabbing his cell phone. He had power back. Dialing quickly, he calls Reese's office directly. He didn't normally speak so informally while on the job, but right now, he didn't care. "Dad, it's Wyatt. We need help and we need it bad."

"Why? What happened? Where are you?"

"We're uh..." Wyatt glances around, trying to remember what road they were on. "We turned off of highway sixty-nine onto a county road.... I think it was four-thirty-two. Just listen, and listen close. We got ambushed by four guys. Had to be Agency but we don't know how they knew we were here. Tire blew out on the van. We took out the four guys, but Jason got shot with some kind of..." He turns around and walks back over to where Jason had landed and picks up the dart. "...some kind of dart. I don't know what was in it, but it's doing a number on him. He and Katie are both down and I don't know how to get them out of here."

"What do you mean down? Are they alive?"

"Yeah, yeah, but it's bad. It's Jason's emotions. I think they're going haywire, but I don't know. He already blew out a headlight of the van, then I think Katie's trying to put a lid on it, but she's in a bad way now too."

"What about a helicopter?"

"That would work. We got one at the airport over here?"

"Yeah, Todd flew in just this morning from Arizona. Let me call him and have him pick you up. He can bring you straight here."

"Right. Notify Rick - I think we're gonna need him."

"Will do. Hang tight, Wyatt."

Wyatt hangs up and puts his hands on his head, trying to regroup. Checking to make sure Katie and Jason were still there, he hits the van, doing a quick job of collecting their things and depositing them on the ground. He goes to the four dead men, stripping them of anything that might lead to where they had come from, and he also puts the dart in a ziploc bag for Rick to analyze.

As Wyatt is trying to clean up as well as possible in the dark, Jason's torment continues. Sweat pours down from him and his whole body shakes violently with convulsions. His eyes start to roll back in his head. Even on the worst day, never had he felt like this. The pain was excruciating, and the worst part was that he could control none of it.

His mouth opens as he tries to speak, but his brain just wouldn't communicate with his vocal chords, and no sounds came out.
I can't... take it... Katie... Its too much.

A sudden convulsion jolts his whole body and his hand is involuntarily ripped from her own. As soon as he does, the energy erupts again, shattering the side window of the van.

Wyatt whirls around in surprise. As soon as he sees the episode, he remembers Katie's words. Several fast strides bring him near to them again, falling to his knees. Another burst from Jason causes another window to blow, sending glass everywhere. Wyatt covers his face with an arm before reaching down without mercy and grabbing Jason and Katie's wrists, forcing their hands back together again. Jason's muscles strain against it, but Wyatt fumbles with his belt, ripping it from his jeans. Before Jason can slip loose again, Wyatt lashes their hands together with his belt. He hated doing this to Katie, but he now realized if he didn't, there was no way he'd get them out of there. Jason would blow the helicopter to pieces and they'd all be dead.

Don't leave me, Katie...
Jason's emotional communication was desperate as he grips her hand once again.
I don't know... how long I can... I can take this.

The sound of the helicopter could just be heard in the distance.

First Kiss

Panting Katie just didnt understand why the Agency was here and new where they were on this almost deserted road. Looking to Jason a small smile forms as she rests her hand on Jason's arm for a moment before letting go so he could check on the goons.

Careful, I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.

Being cautious herself Katie watchs Jason, and the man on the ground. Though looking away from a moment at a sound to her right proved to be the wrong move as more shots were fired. Startled Katie hits the ground hopping to miss stray bullets.

"Jason!!!"

Once Katie sees the shooter go down by Wyatt she is on her feet again and to Jason's side only in the matter of moments. Almost instantly she could feel something was not right.

"J, Are you ok? What..."

Seeing the dart that was sticking out of his shoulder Kaite's blood goes ice cold. It didnt look like there was much damage but almost without warning she gets blasted with a amount of emotions she hadnt felt in a long time pluse ten. Letting out a long shrill yell Katie falls to her knees holding her head.

This wasnt right, there....Jason...he had no controlle. Hearing the light on the van shatter Katie knows this is bad, really bad and she was the only one who could do anything to keep them both together. Trying to clear her mind as much as she could it hurt so bad but she had to do it. For Jason, for herself, for Wyatt and anyone else how was around Katie had to.

Lifting her hand slowly it felt like it weighed a ton Katie takes Jason's hand in her own. Interlocking her fingers with his so she could let go, Katie does what she can to let herself take in the force of Jason's emotions. She didn't know how long she could last doing this without causing searous damage to herself but right now Katie didn't care.

Wimpering from the pain Katie opens her mouth to talk her words distorted, and soft Katie could only hope Wyatt would understand.

"Get....h...p...fast. Wh.....at..ever happens....don't let my hand fall....fa...from J..."

Working quietly Dan had known about Mick but just kept to himself for most of the night. He'd thought about alot of things and some he didnt understand or know how to react to so spending quiet time with himself was what he had wanted untill he met Jade for the night.

Turning right as Jade put her arms around him Dan was taken off guard for a moment but than relizing it was Jade and hearing her words Dan's own arms go around her. Pulling her closer to himself he leans his own head down on top of hers. Taking in the sweet smell of her hair Dan just holds Jade for a long moment.

Pulling Jade away just a little bit Dan looks down at her a small smile forming on her face. He new Jade was having a hard time with this whole thing and he couldn't blame he. It was alot to take at once but he admired her too. She was so strong and independent.

Leaning down to give Jade a soft much differnt kiss than only hours earlyer Dan's heart skipped a beat. Breaking the kiss his eyes stay on Jades as he searched there deepth. Bring a finger up to lightly follow the path the tear had made, whipping it away.

"It's going to be ok Jade, if we didnt have rain we would never appreciate rainbow. Your strong, and you need to keep that up for your Aunt, Dad and Brother. They need you."

Entering the house done for the day with her work Rosetta passes the answering machine pushing the button along the way. Going into the bedroom as the messages played Rosetta pushs some laundry away. The first message was someone calling about bording there horses, the second was from someone asking information about hay, and the last was Mick.

Stopping hearing Mick's voice Rosetta comes back into the kitchen standing just listing. Rosetta wished now she had stayed home so she could of gotten Mick's message, she missed talking to him. Just continuing to listen a tear slips out of Rosetta's eye. Mick said he would be back, but it felt like he was saying goodbye.

Flipping the light of in the kitchen Rosetta goes into the living room and sits down on the couch pulling the blanket over her. The tears would stop as Rosetta shook slightly, just crying herself to sleep.

Surprised by Gunner's sudden action to follow him Bree stands and follows almost being dragged but keeping up the best she can till they are outside. The night was chilli but it felt strangely refreshing at the same time.

Looking up at the sky Bree could feel her cheeks turn warm as Gunner's comment hit her ears. She'd never had someone say anything like this before. Having her head turned back to Gunner another comment comes, and a smile forms on her face. Gunner made her feel good, and her heart started to race.

As Gunner came in closer to her Bree could feel his breath on her skin and it felt like her heart was going to pound out of her chest, as a chill ran up and down her spin. Feeling Gunner so close Bree thought she might faint.

Closing her eyes and waiting, Bree finally feels Gunner's lips press to hers. Bree can feel her knees get weak and was glad for Gunner's arms around her so she didnt fall. A million and one feelings run through her veins.

As Gunner pulls away Bree keeps her eyes closed for a moment just standing there. Slowly opening them finally Bree looks back up into Gunner's eyes she cheek flush as a smile formed on her lips. It almost seemed like everything was brighter.

Leaning into Gunner a little more Bree continues to search his eyes. This was the moment she had been waiting for and it was even better than she could of dreamed. It felt like her words were cought in her throat but finally Bree is able to push out a few words that were a soft whisper.

"For someone who didnt know what they were doing, that was amazing. I...think we are more than friends now."

There

During the split second it took for everything to go down, Jason could feel Katie reacting to their attackers, the emotional pull being briefly diverted so she could pull on fear. He knew that his explosive anger probably stung her a bit as well, but both were learning to ignore the temporary discomfort.

Wyatt's man goes down. He'd received a bullet to the chest - it had been Wyatt's only open choice. Jason's first is hit in the shoulder, the second writhing from his exploding gun. He only had seconds left to live. The fourth man was hit in the knee and drops instantly, overcome with pain and a fear he'd never experienced.

Wyatt remains on the ground, breathing heavily, his gun still aimed ahead. Jason lowers his own weapon, making sure all four men were down before going forward.

Nice shot, hero. Looks like we've got at least two people to question.
"Wyatt, you alright?"

"Yeah... yeah, I'm alright. Sorry I didn't get a captive. I didn't have a choice."

"It's fine. Self-defense, you know that."

Wyatt knew that, and it had been his only clear shot, but he never liked killing anyone. He'd only had to take a man down a time or two before, and it always made his stomach turn. "Yeah... you two alright?" He looks under the van to see Katie and Jason's feet.

"We're okay." Jason glances to Katie and nods. "Checking out our men now. Stay alert."
I don't know why it would be Agency, it just feels like it. Something just doesn't seem right. It was too well-planned for your average thugs.

Jason starts forward, his hands still holding his gun. Out of nowhere, the man who had been shot in the knee sits up, his gun aimed. Jason doesn't have time to react, when a shot rings out. Wyatt hasn't gotten up yet, and swings his pistol back around, firing without hesitation. The man goes down, his own gun flying as he shudders for the last time.

Wyatt was breathing heavily again. "Jase? Katie? You alright?"

Jason has stopped in his tracks, stunned. He blinks, then looks down to his left shoulder where a long dart had pierced him.
Katie...
His legs buckle, and he falls to his hands and knees, his gun clattering on the pavement.

"Jason!" Wyatt gets to his feet quickly, but still has to keep an eye on the one man left alive. He didn't need to though. Wounded in the shoulder, the man rolls over and one last shot is heard. He moves no more. Wyatt stares at him with disbelief. Whoever these men were, they must have had orders not to be caught and questioned. And they apparently took their job way too seriously. It was a disgusting display of loyalty to the wrong thing.

Jason is still shocked by getting hit as the world starts to spin. Reaching down, he pulls at the dart, withdrawing it from his shoulder and staring at it in his palm before he collapses.
Katie... something.... something's not right...
Without warning, his emotions start to churn. Good bad, it didn't matter. They all started to swirl and collide. Jason opens his mouth to speak, but his brain seems to go numb, and words just couldn't come.
I... I can't control....
He starts to shake, uncontrolled energy being emitted, blowing out a headlight of the van.

Sparky gives Rosetta a smile and a nod. "Yeah... yeah, I can do that, no problem. Don't worry about a thing."

Putting away some papers in a file, he wraps up what he was doing, then leaves Rosetta alone again, going to check on chores and make sure everything got done for the night.

It was quite a while later when Jade eventually finds herself wandering into the barn. Most of the chores were almost done. People were wandering in for supper, but she wasn't following tonight. She just wasn't hungry.

Running her hand along the wall as she slowly walks past the stalls, she looks around for the person she was planning to see. Eventually she finds him in the supply room putting away some of the tools.

Just standing in the doorway a moment, Jade watches him. Her eyes were read and swollen, proving that she had been crying - a lot. She'd been thinking about the earlier fight, then she'd gotten word about Dylan, then an angry call from her mother about how what Mick was doing was so wrong, then Sparky told her about Mick's other reason for being at the McClain's. Could anything else go wrong?

Unable to take it, Jade steps into the little room and falls against Dan, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his chest. She'd thought she didn't have any more tears left, but more surface just now, her voice cracking. "I can't take it anymore Dan.... I just can't take it."

Mick holds back the edge of the curtain slightly, looking out the window at Dylan being taken to one of the smaller houses. His heart broke, seeing his son like this. Watching until Dylan disappeared, he lets out a long sigh before letting go of the curtain. Turning back to the other room, he wanders in by the fireplace to sit on the edge of the couch, staring into the flames. It had been about a year since he'd been here. A year. Now he'd fallen off the wagon, and his own son was here. Just half an hour earlier, he'd gotten into a shouting match over the phone with Jill. She wanted Dylan closer to them, while Mick insisted on him being at the McClain's. Eventually, she'd given up, though had dished out plenty of threats. Mick was left exhausted, his own cravings setting in to just make things worse.

"Want to talk about it?"

Mick looks up at Adam, startled by his presence. He'd only given him the brief story of Dylan when he'd arrived, but that was it. "I don't know much." He leans his elbows on his knees to rest his chin in his hands. "Don't know how long Dylan's been like this or his reasons. I knew he was into a bit of trouble, but I didn't think he'd do something like this. I thought he was a good kid, ya know?"

Adam nods and sinks down into the couch next to him. "Even the best fail sometimes. It just happens with something like this, one failure leads to many more afterward." He pauses. "What about you?"

Mick continues to stare at the fire. He hadn't yet admitted anything about himself. He was planning to, he just hadn't yet had the nerve. "What about me?"

"Hold out your hand."

Mick looks quickly to Adam. "What?"

"Hold out your hand." Adam demonstrates by stretching out his hand, palm-down.

Mick closes his eyes a moment. He didn't want to. But Adam was too smart to fool for long. He slowly reaches out, revealing a hand that was too shaky to hold anything steady.

Adam purses his lips and lays his hand on Mick's shoulder. "How long?"

"Only about a week." Mick's hand drops. "I got upset when I heard about Dylan, I went to town to see the police and when I was done... I messed up. I thought just once wouldn't bother me, but the next day, the cravings were so bad I couldn't stand it. I gave away my keys and tried to hibernate, but that night, I ended up making a call, having someone go to town and they didn't even know they smuggled a bottle back to me. The next few days were the same. The guilt got to be so bad I just... started losing it. I didn't think it could happen so fast or get so bad within such a short amount of time. I figured it woulda taken me more than once to start back up again, and that even then it wouldn't be so bad so quickly."

Mick's eyes remain down, his shoulders lowering. "When I knew I wanted Dylan here, I... decided I needed to be here too."

Adam just nods, listening to the whole story. "With some people it does take more than once. Some people can go back to having a drink once in a while and not having it bother them. Others, it might take a steady few weeks for them to pick up the habit again. But you're not the only one who is that sensitive to it. I know others who are like you, Mick. Once is all it takes and it's not a gradual process - it's an immediate nosedive. The thing is... most people like that wait longer to get help. I'm glad you came."

He pauses, studying his longtime friend. "Would you have come if it weren't for Dylan?"

"I don't know. Eventually maybe, but probably not before someone else brought me."

A gentle smile creases Adam's lips. "Then maybe something good has already come from Dylan's situation."

Mick allows something close to a smile too. Maybe Adam was right. "I think I'm going to head to bed. I want to make one phone call then... then I'll turn in my cell phone."

"Alright. Just leave it on the kitchen counter. Brenda will put it in safe keeping for you."

A few minutes later, Mick sat on the edge of his bed. It was the same room he'd had before. He didn't need much care this time. He wasn't a danger to himself, and he wasn't going to try and leave. But he did just need to make one call before being cut off from the rest of the world. He knew Adam and Brenda wouldn't force him not to talk to anyone else, but it was strongly recommended, and he knew it was for the best, at least until he had a handle on this thing again.

"Rosetta, it's me..." Mick pauses, not even sure what to say. He hated answering machines, especially their own. "I just... I wanted to let you know I'm okay and... and I love you. I'm at the McClain's... Dylan is here too, though I haven't spoken to him yet. I um... I guess I want to say I'm sorry again, but no matter how many times I say it, it doesn't change anything. I just hope that... that when I come back..." He swallows hard, trying to remain composed. Though he knew the strain in his voice would be heard by his wife. "...I hope I can be the man you deserve. And I'll try... I'll try to make things right. I don't know how long I will be here, but... I'm hoping it won't be long. I'm hoping I can beat this thing quickly so I can come home. I miss you already."

He stops again, wondering if he was really talking to no one, or if Rosetta would just let the machine pick up because she didn't want to talk to him. He wouldn't blame her if she did. "I love you," he repeats. "If you need to get a hold of me, just call Adam or Brenda. I'm giving my phone a rest while I'm here."

Glancing around the little room, he tries to think of any more he can say. "See you soon... tell BJ I love him too."

Click.

Gunner's face felt as if it were on fire, but he musters up a little smile anyway, his hand giving Bree's a light squeeze. "I don't know what you're thanking me for. I'm just repaying a favor."

He could see the faint flicker of disappointment in her eye though, and he could kick himself. Suddenly he sits up straight, letting go of Bree. "Come here." Standing, he grabs her hand to pull her up too, dragging her through the living room and into the dining room that was rarely used. The sliding glass doors made for a perfect view of the night sky, away from street lights. Since he hadn't turned the lights on inside either, it made looking out even easier.

Bringing Bree right up to the cool glass, he points upward. "See that?" Waiting until she's looking up, his gaze drops to her eyes, just looking at them for the longest moment. A small smile tweaks the corner of his mouth. His voice drops to almost a whisper. "I just wanted to find out if I could see the stars in your eyes."

He reaches out gently to tip her chin towards him instead of the sky. "Funny thing is... you don't have to be looking at the stars for me to see them... they're always there. It's like... a mini solar system just waiting to be explored."

Swallowing hard, his hand remains touching her face. He was glad it was darker in here than in the living room. It was just as well, so Bree didn't have to see his burning face.

"I... want to... be able to explore it." Moving his hand so it cradles the side of her face, his thumb runs down her cheek, then slowly over her lips. They felt warm and soft under his touch, and a tingle runs down his spine. Stepping closer, he wraps his other arm around her, bringing her to him. Three times now, he'd chickened out, and three times, he'd seen the disappointment in her eye. Maybe he was foolish, but he couldn't help it. He couldn't keep on messing up. Not when his feeling for Bree were growing so much stronger with every passing moment.

Leaning his head down to meet hers, his eyes close and he pauses, feeling her breath on his skin. "I want you to know," he whispers, "that I have no idea what I'm doing." Not allowing time for a response, he finally presses his lips to hers. A feeling washes over him like nothing before, his thumb still tracing out her cheek, his other arm giving a strong hold around her.

Pulling back just a little, he opens his eyes to search hers, almost scared that she might be upset with him.
