The morning of many

Carson didn't want to make a big deal out of this, but Misty's pausing the movie proved that it was big enough to at least pay attention.

Looking back at her, he tries to figure out exactly what she's saying. She missed the spunk? He wasn't stupid... he knew what that meant. She missed the old him? But... why? Everything he'd done... the man he'd been was so... wrong... wasn't it? Why would she want that back? Giving in would just be a compromise that he couldn't make. One move towards his old actions and he was liable to slip and fall again... wasn't he?

It just felt all wrong. Carson hangs his head. He wanted to be what Misty wanted him to be. Was her simply being happy enough? Or was there enough she missed to make things fall apart? He wondered.

Raising his eyes again, he forces half a smile to the surface. "I'm happy when I'm around you too." His response skips over her longing for the old him. He didn't know how to answer that part of what she'd said.

Letting the whole thing drop, he reaches over her for the remote and turns the movie back on. Setting the remote on the table, he flops back and slings an arm around Misty's shoulders to bring her down next to him where he can plant a kiss on the top of her head. The rest of the movie would be enjoyed, then he would go home. He'd revisit this conversation later when he felt more like thinking about it. For now... for now he just wanted to enjoy Misty's company.

David gives a little shrug to Marge's invitation and finally sinks down in a chair opposite her. "Why not. Looks like I lost my company for the night anyway."

He signals to a caterer walking by that he'd like another drink, and lets out a long sigh. "Guess a fellow's gotta give up sometime, eh?" He shakes his head and gives a weary laugh. "It shows character to admit when you've been beat, right?"

He glances back over his shoulder to where the balcony was. "Some guys got it... maybe I was wrong to think I was one of them."

Reese's smile is warm and genuine. "Well... looks like we're in the same rusty boat then," he teases. "Just so long as we don't sink."

Hearing the soft music coming from inside, he shifts his position to take Angelica's one hand, then rest his other lightly on her waist. Dancing under the moonlight was something completely unplanned. But it seemed a night where anything could happen. And it had. But it was too deep within his heart for anyone to see... one could only feel. And after years of a lonely coldness, the frozen shell was finally being cracked.

"You're welcome," he finally replies quietly. "Thank you for inviting me."

Morning. The dawn after the night before, bringing on a newness. To some, it's desired. To others, they would have preferred to stay in the comfort of the darkness. But no matter how cloudy the skies, the sun won't wait.

Reese rolls over in the hotel bed and slaps his alarm off. It felt too early to get up. Last night had ended nicely, bidding Angelica farewell after the party. But it had been late, and rising early didn't feel quite as invigorating as intended. He'd promised to meet Angelica for breakfast though, and he wasn't going to skunk her. Not to mention, he had a chance to meet her mother and grandmother... something that seemed a pleasant thought today.

Finally sliding out of bed, he heads for the shower. He'd have to leave with enough time to figure out the directions Angelica had given him last night. Being in unfamiliar territory wasn't something new, but it did feel different when not connected to a case. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been out of town for pleasure.

Carson ties his tennis shoes and yawns, standing up and trudging to the kitchen.

"Morning, sleepy head."

He pries his eyes open further to see the blurry form of his sister at the table. "Hey."

"You're gonna be late."

Carson smirks at her. "Thanks for the reminder." Grabbing a glass of juice, he decides it will have to do for his breakfast.

Dani continues eating her buttered toast. "Have a good time last night?"

"Mm-hmm."

"Want a ride to work?"

He shakes his head and puts his now-empty glass in the sink. "Naw. I got enough time to walk it." Without having risen early enough to jog, walking was probably best anyway.

"Alright. See you later, then?"

"Yep." Carson ruffles her hair on his way past, grabbing his denim jacket and his ball cap. "Later." Hitting the outside air, he heads at a brisk walk towards Mom and Pop's. He'd tossed and turned all night, and wasn't near enough awake yet. His time with Misty had felt good, for sure. But it still felt like some storm cloud was hanging overhead. It didn't feel like it would rain yet, but something just still didn't feel right. And unfortunately, he sensed the problem was himself.

Looking up to the sky, he notes the gray clouds. The weather didn't help the mood much. But according to the weather report, it would stay cloudy all day.

"I want you to go over these three cases, and I want you in that upcoming meeting."

Jason lifts an eyebrow as the folders are slapped down on his desk. He looks up at Austin with annoyance. "Well I guess if I have time, I'll see if I can make it."

"You will make it," Austin corrects. "Or would you like another mark on your record."

"Well, the red marks do make for more colorful records," Jason muses. He glances at his watch. "Can't catch me for tardiness today though. I made it with thirty seconds to spare."

Austin's eyes show a glint of authority. "Didn't feel good to get docked pay, did it?"

Jason tries to hide a smile. "Oh, that's not it. It's just that I got a concert tonight, so I wanted to get on out of here early."

"You will work your full day," Austin corrects.

"Actually..." Jason straightens in his chair, his annoyance heightening. "I'll be leaving early. I have to be there early to help set up and we have to be on stage by six."

"I don't care." Austin crosses his arms. "Your job comes first."

"I was allowed the flexibility when I joined JetStream," Jason counters.

"By whom? Reese? I'm in charge now." Austin glares at his grandson. "Leave early, and it's just another mark against you."

Though his anger was boiling, Jason lets out a laugh. "Okay, then boss. Get your marker ready. I was going to invite you tonight, but... I guess you'll be working until closing then, huh?"

Austin grits his teeth, but says no more, simply spinning on his heel to stalk out of the office.

Jason groans and lets his head fall into his arms on his desk, his arrogant facade fading.

Great. By the time this is over, I'm gonna be broke. I don't care what he says. I'm going to be singing tonight. It's the only thing I got left that takes me away from here... away from everything that's holding me down and beating me up.

Straightening, Jason pops another sugar pill into his mouth. He knew at this point, he was once again a walking time bomb. But he needed to at least last through tonight... He just needed to get through this concert, then he could explode and crash.

It's coming, Katie... sorry. Not until another day at least though. Hang in there with me. I'll try to give you fair warning before I let loose on anything.

At least so far he hadn't had a bad spell. He could feel his writhing emotions building to the max, but so far, he'd been safe from flashbacks, and his nightmares had been kept at bay for the most part. Maybe... maybe this thing had evolved past the episodes. He could only hope.

"Kyle?" Phil taps his knuckles on his brother's door. "Kyle... you up?" Still no answer. Phil sighs and finally opens the door, just to find an empty bed. One that once again had not been slept in. Groaning in frustration, Phil heads for the kitchen. A quick phone call to his sister confirmed that Kyle had taken her home last night, but then after that he wasn't accounted for.

Just ready to call Mike, Phil hears the door open and close. "Kyle?"

"Yo."

Phil sets his hands on his hips as he wanders into the other room. "Nice of you to drop by."

Kyle tosses his keys onto the rack, and quirks an eyebrow at Phil's tone. "Um... thanks? Got any hot water left?"

"Yeah, and you're in it."

"Great. Now what did I do?"

Phil's eyes narrow. "Where were you? I've been worried, and so has Jen."

Kyle shrugs. "No where in particular. Look, I gotta go take a shower, then I'm gonna go help Rocky with a few things, then head to Mike's from there to load up right after lunch. What time we gotta be over to the community building?"

"Four o'clock. But I'm not done talking to you." Phil steps in his brother's way. "Where have you been, Kyle?"

"Nowhere!" Kyle throws up his arms.

Phil studies his brother with suspicion. "You look like you ran all the way home. What have you been up to?"

Kyle runs a hand through his sweaty hair. "Well right about now, I'd like to be up to taking a shower, unless you want me smelling like this on stage tonight."

"Kyle!"

"What?!" Kyle shakes his head and grins. "Would you stop worrying?" He gives a short laugh. "I'm not a little kid, ya know. I am capable of going out and keeping myself occupied."

"Yes, but with what?"

Kyle shoulders past Phil and heads towards the bathroom. "Nothing."

"But..." Phil's shoulders drop as the bathroom door is shut. "But I can't help but be worried about you," he finishes lamely. One second, everything seemed fine, and Kyle seemed to be perfectly normal. And the next, something just seemed very wrong. Which was the truth? Well, for now he'd just have to hope that the first was the truth. So Kyle had a few odd quirks... so what. Today they needed to concentrate on the concert.

Axel wanders into the garage, clocking in and heading to the car he'd been working on yesterday afternoon.

"Hey, Grease!" Leo saunters in, throwing his jacket on a wall hook. "I thought you weren't working today."

"Naw. Gotta put in a couple hours at least."

"Don't you got that concert tonight?"

"Yep. I'm taking off about noon to have a quick session, then load up, and eventually help the other band set up."

"Sounds like fun."

Axel glances at Leo fidgeting with a wrench, and a wry grin spreads. "You, um... gonna come see us?"

Leo's face lights up. "I thought you'd never ask."

Axel rolls his eyes. "It's a community event, Leo. You got three bucks?"

"Yeah - that what it is at the door?"

"Yep. But if you don't, I'll get you in with the band."

Leo shakes his head. "Nah. It's for charity. Besides, I'll have to show up after work. I gotta work a full day."

"Alright. Sounds good." Axel turns back to the engine and rolls up his sleeves. As he does, his right hand starts to tingle. Flexing his fingers, he manages to avoid a bad spell. Hopefully today would be free of any mishaps. The rest of the guys in Cryptic hadn't seen how bad it had gotten, and he'd just as soon keep it that way.

Rick heaves a sigh, leaning on the doorway to the infirmary bathroom. He finally enters, laying a hand on Scott's shoulder. "You alright?"

Scott is sitting on the floor by the toilet, pale and exhausted. Nothing he'd eaten for breakfast had stayed with him. He shakes his head slowly.

Rick wishes he had a cure. But it was so hard, knowing where the lines were between the physical problems and the mental ones. Scott had given breakfast a good try this morning, but it hadn't taken long for him to get sick. Was it something wrong with his stomach? Was there something Rick had missed? Or was it simply the stress and emotional state that Scott was in? He didn't want to put Scott through any more medical tests, but how else would he know? His medical training made him want to do more tests. But his better sense told him that it was indeed an emotional problem, not a physical one. For now, he'd just keep trying.

Getting Scott cleaned up and back in bed, Rick sits beside him thoughtfully. "There's a JetStream concert today..."

Scott keeps his chin rested on his knees. "Yeah... I know."

"You going?"

Scott shakes his head. No... he didn't want to be in a crowd like that.

Rick plays with his clipboard in his hand. "Even with Jason and Katie there to watch your back?"

Scott shakes his head again. Not even with them there. The thought was too terrifying.

"You going to at least get out of the infirmary?" Rick prompts. "I think some fresh air would do you good."

"Katie...she's going to bring one of my.... my cameras." Scott gives a little shrug. He was very tired after a night of tossing and turning. But he did want the distraction.

Rick gives a little smile. "Well that's good. If you want me to take you anywhere, or anything today, you just let me know, okay?"

Scott nods. Once his stomach had settled down, maybe he'd venture out for a short walk... maybe.

Clint stares into space, his hands cupped around his warm coffee mug. His elbows rested on the mess hall table, his eyes tired and bloodshot. The conversations around him were all droning together, none of much interest to him.

Jim leans up against the wall by the kitchen, sipping his own coffee, as his eyes land on his son. He watches him for a moment, wondering about his behavior. It had been like this for the past week. Clint had looked completely worn out, his mood wasn’t the greatest, and he had been much quieter than normal.

Mick nudges his brother with an elbow. “Wake up.”

Jim grins and nods. “I’m awake. Looks like Clint isn’t, though.”

Mick follows his gaze to see his nephew in the corner. “He alright?”

“I don’t know. He hasn’t said much lately. Something’s up though.”

“Why don’t you ask him about it?”

Jim shakes his head. “Naw, I’m liable just to upset him if I do that.”

“I thought things were good between you two.”

“They’re better. But… I wouldn’t want to push it.”

Mick opens his mouth to tell Jim that he’d noticed Clint taking one of the ranch trucks at night lately, but then he decides better of it. Until he had some facts, maybe it was best that he didn’t tell his brother. Perhaps he would confront him himself. He could only hope it didn’t have anything to do with the fellows Clint used to hang out with. That’s all they needed right now was more trouble.

Finally Mick just shrugs. “I’m sure it’s nothing. He’s just got a lot on his mind.”

“This would be true.” Jim lifts his eyebrows as he thinks of Wendy. He sighs and glances to the clock. “Guess I better get to work. I’m helping you with those yearlings today, right?”

Clint finishes off his coffee and leaves his cup on the table, rising to leave. There were two cars in the shop and one they’d promised would be done today. He needed to get to work before he wasted any more time.

Outside, he’s hit with chilly air, but doesn’t zip up his jacket. He needed the cold to wake him up. Yawning, he pops his neck and trudges his route to the shop.

"Hey, Bret!" Kirk greets his old friend warmly with a hearty handshake, a smile spread on his face. "Glad you made it."

"Me too." Bret grins and nods, very glad that he had. Every appointment so far had to be postponed for one reason or another. But today... he had finally made it.

"Sterling!!"

Bret spins around to see his buddy. "Landon!" A hug and handshake follow.

Landon gives him a teasing punch to the shoulder. "Who says anyone can leave the track for good, eh?"

Bret gives him a smirk. "I don't remember saying that."

"Oooh, I do." Landon grins. "Everybody's talked about that one for years."

Bret smacks him upside the head. "Let's not have a repeat, eh?"

"Well don't look at me!" Landon teases. He lets the subject drop though, for Bret's sake. "So Kirk says you're back."

"We'll see." Bret promises nothing. "He just wants to give me a trial run today, and... we'll go from there."

"Good, good." Landon nods with satisfaction. "Not sure you came on a great day though."

"Why?"

Landon thumbs toward the other side of the track where other people were mingling, and other cars were being worked on. "Maria's here."

Bret's jaw tightens. "I didn't think she hung around here anymore."

"Not 'til she hooked up with Pat."

"You've got to be kidding me."

"Nope." Landon shakes his head. "Been about six months."

"Wow... that's a long time."

Landon smirks. "You were the longest. We'll see how this one goes. She might try to get you back when she sees you behind the wheel again."

Bret shakes his head. "Well that will never happen."

"Never know," Landon teases.

"I do." Bret holds up his left hand.

"Dude." Landon's eyebrows raise. "Since when were you tied down again?"

Bret grins. "Since I fell in love."

"Well how long have you been tied down?"

"I haven't been tied down since Maria," Bret corrects. "This time, I'm blissfully married, and it's only been a short time."

"I guess congrats on that one, then. Shoulda brought her down here today so we could meet her."

"Yeah, well... I was going to, but we had a little tiff this morning, so I'm letting things cool off."

"So much for the 'blissfully,'" Landon smirks. "Major?"

Bret rolls his eyes. "Not unless you count arguing over an unpaid gas bill major. Flowers on the way home will be the cure." In reality, he'd woken up a grouch this morning and Charlotte had gotten the brunt of it before she'd left for work. Anything would have made him upset, and he'd regretted their argument as soon as she'd walked out the door. It was the first time he'd yelled at her, and it didn't feel good, especially when he knew that his temper had been a problem for him in the past. Charlotte deserved better. Flowers would be a start... an apology would be next on the list.

Landon gives him a sly glance. "You? Flowers? She must be somethin'. You never took the losing end with Maria."

Bret chuckles. "If being on the losing end is what it takes to keep Charlotte in my life, then so be it. It's a small sacrifice."

"Dude, you got it bad."

"Yep."

Landon laughs. "Well I'm happy for ya. You might wanna steer clear of Maria then."

"Good option. What about you and Amber?"

Landon gives a little shrug, forcing himself to keep his smile even though it wanted to fade. "Broke up about six months ago."

"Ouch."

"Yeah, well... it's been alright. I spend most of my time down here, keeping busy. Now I'll have you to keep out of trouble."

"Excuse me," Kirk interrupts. "I don't mean to break up this little reunion, but Bret, if you wanna take a run, I got half an hour left."

Bret's immediately ready. "Lead the way..."

"...How's she feeling, Sterling?"

Brad grins as he takes the car around the track, feeling the curves. "Landon, she's as smooth as butter."

"Good. I worked on her just this morning." Landon speaks into the mic on his headset from the side of the track, along with Kirk as they watched Bret takes several laps around the track.

Kirk shakes his head. "What's the matter, Bret? You look like an old man out there."

Bret's hand grips the gear shift. "Oh, really?"

"Yeah, really. You wasting my time, or what?"

"Not on your life." The gears shift, the engine revs.

Kirk grins as he sees the car speed up, beginning to fly around the track. "Now that's what I'm talking about."

"Wooee!" Bret heads into the curve with ease, expertly guiding the car.

Landon laughs. "You still got it man. You still got it."

"Just like riding a bicycle." Bret steers the car around the far turn. He was back in his zone, and it felt good.

Happy

Angelica cant help the feeling that serge's though she vains. It was a feeling long forgot but now once again made known that no matter what it always lived on. For once, in a very long time Angelica was ready. Ready to let another person in again.

"On day at a time, that works for me. I'm a bit rusty though so once and a while you might need to remind me."

Smiling back at Reese Angelica's face lights up a soft glow in the moonlit night. She hadnt smiled, or laughed and after she meet Reese things seemed to change.

"Thank you Mike for coming tonight. Thank you for more than you even know."

"huh?"

Marge looks up at David for a long moment almost as if mesmarised in his presince. But before it can even be noticed she looks up down at the table. Mumbaling as if she almost lost her voice.

"I know how you feel."

Continuing to look down her her glass Marge lets out a long sigh. She had been working for David and Angelica for a long time now and she had always had a thing for David. But she new where she stood, and what part of the totam poll she was on. She could never compete with Angelica's looks, and she would never had the money to back it up eather. All she had, was what she had.

"You can sit here if you want."

Watching the movie and eating the pizza with Carson was nice and Misty enjoyed it. Though She could feel the tention in the room she wasnt to sure what to do about it. So the silence lingers as the movie plays on.

As Carson asks his questions Misty is silent for a moment as she still watch the movie. Finally taking the remote Misty pauses the movie. Turning twords Carson Misty just looks at him for a moment.

What was she to say? How should she say it? Letting out a small sigh Misty finally replys.

"I am happy Carson. I've always been happy when I am around you and you havnt done anything wrong its just you've changed alot and I guess I kind of miss the old Carson at times. I just have to get use to the new you I guess is all. I just miss the spunk I guess."

Misty searches Carson's eyes for a moment. She wasnt sure how Carson would react or what would happen. She didnt want to lose Carson again but she did want to let him know how she felt.

...if you want

Reese closes his eyes for a moment as Angelica's fingers run down the side of his face. It had been so long since he'd had a woman's attention, or even wanted it, for that matter. Angelica had become so special to him, even if he hadn't let it show. They'd always kept things on a pretty business-like level, and he'd been satisfied with that... until he'd realized that he cared more about her than he'd thought.

Opening his eyes again, he locks his gaze with hers, her voice drifting on the night breeze like soothing music. "You've always been beautiful," he replies quietly. "Inside and out."

Reaching up to take her free hand, he grips gently, bringing it around to plant a soft kiss on it.

"I may not be old enough for retirement," he muses with a light tease to his voice. "But I'm old enough to be set in my ways. Though... if you're willing to put up with just taking things one day at a time..."

He didn't know how to ask. He didn't know if he even had to ask outright. But better to clarify than leave anybody wondering about his intentions.

"...I think I'd like to get to know you better, Angelica. I think I'd like anything that gave me the excuse to spend more time with you. That is... if you want."

David half-listens to Brad, though his eyes have wandered to the doors that led out to the balcony. At his angle he could just make out two shadowy figures standing very close together. He bristles. He'd known there had to be more between this guy Mike and Angelica. What did Mike have that he didn't? David had known Angelica for much longer, and had been trying for a long time to win her over, but work had always gotten in the way. What hadn't he done that this guy had?

"...you listening?"

"Hmm?" David turns his eyes back to Brad apologetically. "Sorry."

"You alright?"

"Not feeling well. I'll catch you later." David pats Brad's shoulder and wanders away where he couldn't see the balcony anymore. Folding his arms, he leans back against the wall near a corner table. Glancing down to the side, he sees Marge by herself and he sighs. "What's a guy gotta do, huh?" He shakes his head.

Misty's comment leaves Carson slightly surprised, and in a moment, he's left by himself to get the plates and food. He just stands for several seconds though, wondering about the tone of Misty's voice. She was disappointed. He knew it now. He was different than he used to be... he hadn't thought she would react to it... he'd thought it would be all good. But... something just felt like it was off kilter just a little bit. It wasn't bad... they weren't at odds at all. But... it just felt... strange. Was it him? Had he made a mistake?

Sighing at himself, Carson knows right where to find the plates and retrieves them, picking up the pizza on his way to the living room. Setting everything on the coffee table, he eases down on the couch, waiting for Misty.

It's not long before a movie has started, and supper is being eaten. But Carson's appetite just isn't what it was a while ago. Eating just a slice and a half, he concentrates on the movie, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. He wasn't upset at all. Just... he wasn't sure exactly what it was.

Finally, he gives up and turns his head towards Misty. "Are you... happy?" he asks quietly. His eyes search hers for the answers to ease his confusion. "I mean... have I done something wrong?"

Kyle slides out of the truck and jogs around the other side to help Jen out. But by the time he gets there, she's already got the door open and is starting down herself.

She grins and holds herself steady between the seat and the door. "I want to get down myself."

Kyle smiles and stands back, though can't help a twinge of surprise. He knew his sister was already back in therapy and progressing more rapidly than the doctors could explain, but it still brought on a little bit of surprise. He was so used to helping here.

Jen giggles as she slides to the ground and stands a bit wobbly. "Help me walk inside?"

"You sure you don't want your chair?"

Jen shakes her head. "Uh-uh."

"Okay..." Kyle was a bit hesitant, but reaches out to help her as she headed for the porch. It took her one slow step at a time, and she had to hang onto her brother most of the way for support, but by the time she reached the steps, she was beaming.

"I did it," she exclaims.

Kyle eases her down so she could sit while he went to get her chair. "You sure did." Pride shown in his eyes and he ruffles her hair playfully. "Be right back."

Jogging back to the truck, he retrieves the wheelchair, but pauses for just a moment. He runs his hands over the metal frame, his mind taking him to places he would chide himself for. He was thrilled his sister was starting to walk again. No one was probably more thrilled than he was. But there was a strange emotion lurking in the shadows that bothered him. It bothered him because it didn't feel good, and because he felt utterly ridiculous for even letting it be there.

But the lump in his throat was undeniable.

Shaking his head, he finishes his task and goes back to the house to help Jen in the rest of the way. Staying only a few brief moments to say hi to his mom and stepdad, he trots back to his truck to head home. Tomorrow would be a long day. A good night's sleep would do him good.

Back in Texas, the night seems all too short. Though for some it seemed long. At four-thirty in the morning, another hour and a half was left before the ranch would come to life. But despite the quiet, one vehicle was just getting shut down.

Clint wanders tiredly from the garage after having parked the borrowed pickup. Trudging towards his bunk, he was glad that he had it to himself now, so he wouldn't be waking anyone. Glancing to his watch, he doesn't even have enough energy to grimace. He could squeeze in two hours, at best. Well... it would have to do. He'd run on two hours of sleep a night for the last week... he could do it again.

Stopping, he sleepily turns back around, going to the truck for something he'd forgotten. Then he heads for Wendy's place instead. Opening the door just a crack, he puts the handwritten note in between the two doors. All it said was "I love you," but he hoped it would make her smile. She needed to smile... she hadn't smiled enough lately.

Stifling a yawn, he aims back towards his bunk. Getting inside, he flops down on his bed, not even bothering to undress.

A long time

Stepping outside Angelica takes in the night air. After being in the stuffy room for most of the night the fresh air felt good on her skin and in her lungs. The noises of the city drowned on and Angelica payed little attachen to them. This was home and where she was use to being, this for her was normal.

Looking to Reese Angelica can feel her cheeks turn a shade of red at his comment. Just stairing at Reese with her big brown eyes twinkling in the moonlight she takes him in as well. It was not ever day they looked like they but it was nice to see the change. The light blue shirt that Reese had underneath his black blazer braught out his eyes and made them seem to almost dance in the moonlight.

"You know the city never bothered me to much until I went out to Nevada. Coming back and forth isnt that big of a deal but I am relizing just how much the city drives me crazy. Well this city anyways."

Angelica is quiet again for a moment as she looks out at the buildings and watching the cars pass by. People down on the side walks walking with hast to a destination unknown.

"You dont need to be sorry anymore Mike I think you made up for it quite well."

Turning to look at Reese again Angelica smiles at him. This had been a nice saprise something no one had ever done for her. As Reese takes her fingers and interlocks his own with them a strange tingle goes down Angelica's spine. Tighting her own grip on his fingers sligltly Angelica can feel her face turn red again as she looks up at Reese as he makes his comment. Looking into Reese eyes Angelica felt something she hadnt felt in so long. Everything about Reese made her feel good inside, and put butterflys in her stomach. Her own heart started to race as the silence continues. For sure she though Reese would hear it.

Taking a few steps closer Angelica knows that now is the time to let go, happyness was standing infront of her once again and what a shame it would be to push it away even if she was scaired. She had gotten to know Reese and new he was a good guy. Life was about risks and this was one she didnt want to turn down.

Bringing her free hand up to the side of Reese face she just runs her thumb over her cheek the smile making its way to her lips once again. Locking eyes with Reese Angelica keeps her voice soft.

"Tell me I am beautiful again Mike because its been a long time someone has made me feel the way you do."

More than

Alone with Angelica once more, Reese starts to relax again. Mingling with her wasn't so bad, and getting to meet the people she often mentioned was nice. He couldn't help but be glad they didn't cross paths with David again too quickly. He seemed nice, but... there was something about him that Reese wasn't so sure about. Maybe he just didn't want to admit what it was.

Brought back to attention by Angelica's suggestion, he shrugs. "Sure. Fresh air sounds nice right about now."

Led to the edge of the room, then out onto the balcony, he takes a deep breath of the warm night air. The sounds of the city were all around them, drifting up to the third story.

Reese wanders to the railing to lean on it, looking out at all the lights. "Reminds me how much I hate cities," he muses. "Never had the guts to move out of town though... seemed like too much work."

He's quite for several moments until eventually straightening and turning to face Angelica. The moonlight cradled her face with a soft glow and glistened off her necklace. A light chuckle surfaces and Reese shakes his head. "I must have been crazy to turn down your offer to come."

Hesitantly, he reaches out with his hand, offering to take her own. "May I?" Given permission, he takes Angelica's fingers softly in his. "I know I apologized earlier, but... I guess I want to again. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. I, um... well..." He can feel his face grow warm and is glad for the partial darkness. "It's kinda hard for a guy like me, ya know?"

His eyes lower to her hand, then raise again to see hers. "Not easy to move past a life, even if it's a life long gone and never to reappear." He didn't know whether she'd understand he was referring to his own married past, but didn't think he need specify.

"At any rate, I talked to your sister and she told me about your brother's birthday and all, and... I guess I realized that whatever I was going through wasn't worth not being there for a friend." His grip tightens a little on Angelica's fingers. "A good friend... more than a friend... if she wanted to be."

Alone

As the exchange with Carson continues and Misty feels his around around her, her heart starts to race. Oh how she had missed the kiss like this, and this feeling it gave her. The sence of freedome was missed and how Carson use to touch and hold her had felt like it was absent for so long that now feeling it again was almost like a cool breeze.

As the kiss ends Misty almost feels a bit of sadness. She wanted it to continue, she wasnted to back in for another kiss but a hug was all she got. Bringing both her arms around him Misty returns the hug. Though she could still feel something was differnt, and there was hesatance on Carson's part.

In Carson's turning Misty knows that somewhere inside Carson the kiss was what he wanted but was not allowing himself to have. Him not meeting her eyes she new, she new that his change had made him shameful of what happend and maybe confused. Ignoring his comment for a moment Misty steps closer to him again placing a hand on his back and rubbing gently. In a soft whisper she comments.

"It's not bad to kiss me like that Carson. I like it. Change is good, but that dosnt mean you have to change everything."

Removing her hand Misty backs away and turns to head out of the kitchen.

"Now what about that movie and I'll get it set up. You know where the plates are. Dont be to long, I am starving and am looking forward to snaggling."

The smile on Angelica's face is ever moving as her eyes stay locked with Reese for the moment. She had been sad when he had turned her down but now, getting this kind of saprise it really did but a bright spot to the end of her day.

Angelica cant help but laugh at the comment about the badge. She had to hand it to him it was smart thinking to use that to get in tonight. As Angelica goes to make her comment she is cut off by David. Looking to him and giving a smile she was happy to see David was being friendly, not to mention she wanted them to meet anyways to be able to put faces with names when she talked about them.

Watching David as she talks about her coming back Angelica cocks her head just a little. She new David had mention in the past that he would like her to come back to Cali but he hadnt said anything else about it till now. It kind of confused her a bit because he made it sound like he talked to her about it often. Brushing it off as nothing more than small tall Angelica gives a nod and than looks back to Reese her smile still in place.

"But I have told David that now having two jobs if I let one go I think I might be bored. I like working both places and I would want nothing less."

As David makes his exit finally Angelica gives another nod calling behind him.

"I'll catch up with you in a little bit David."

Turning back to Reese she is happy to give her full attachen to him once again. Though a bit confused by his comments of maybe going Angelica gives a small shake as she takes Reese arm with her own.

"No, I want you to stay please."

Walking slowly as to move out of peoples way Angelica keeps a light hold on Reese arm. It felt good that he was here and she thought nothing differnt of it. Talking to talk with Reese several differnt times Angelica is intarupted by other people wanting to know how she was and how the business were going. Most the talk was work related and very little room for normal day to day talk. Finally breaking away once again Angelica looks up at Reese giving another smile.

"If you want to talk a little in quiet there is a nice belcony we can escape to. There is also some food if your hungry as well....."

Over in a courner tucked away from everyone alse a woman sits. Her messed black hair hung in her face, and her lips drawn into a frown as she watches Angelica and David interact for a moment. Everything alse going on around her lost. Letting out a sigh the woman looks down at the table. Mummbaling to herself....

"Marge why couldnt you be that lucky. He flirts with her all the time and she dosnt even know it. I'm no compatition for Angelica Lockheart. I just wish I could be half of what she is."

Making it back to her bunk and wishing Clint a good night Wendy makes her way inside. Her back had been killing her today and all she really wanted to do was sleep. Sometimes the hours dragged on and it felt like the day was never ending. Filling with morning sickness, back pains, and the never ending feeling of hunger that plaged her. Finally getting use to the idea of having a growing life inside her Wendy pushed through her day. If not for herself than for her child. Even though at times she missed life before, and what she could have done she new this was what she had to do now.

Slumping down on her bed Wendy lets out a long sigh. Her mom had only been gone for a day but it felt like weeks, and with Clint seeming so distint as of late Wendy felt more alone than ever. Clint needed his space, and was having a hard time dealing with this whole thing but why...why did it feel like he was in another world completely?

Rolling over and burring herself deep in her covers Wendy just stairs at the wall for a long moment. Was this how it was ment to be? Would she always feel this alone now? Would Clint always feel this distint?

I'd rather...

Feeling Misty's hand against his face, then run through his hair, Carson closes his eyes for a moment, enjoying the tingle that it sent down his spine. Returning the kiss, he slowly brings his arms around her, holding her tight while one hand strokes her back.

But while the passion is returned, Carson is suddenly thrown back to a time that this was normal. Misty had just called this old fashioned. And it was. It was, because this is what he used to be like. He used to be rougher. He used to take more chances. He used to not care about rules and regulations. He'd never crossed the line with Misty, but he'd been careless in more ways than one. What did that mean for now? Wasn't he trying to be a different man? Wasn't he trying to be a new man, no longer associated with those actions?

His sense of right and wrong suddenly seemed blurred as his mind went one way, and his emotions another. He wanted this to last. He wanted to hold her tighter. He wanted to let the fire in his soul out. He wanted to pull away and give her the smart remark that was on the tip of his tongue, that would surely lead to another kiss just as passionate.

But...

That was the old Carson. What about the new Carson? What about all that he'd worked for? Wasn't giving in to those feelings something he shouldn't do anymore? Wouldn't that just lead him back down the path he'd been trying to leave behind? His feelings for Misty ran deep... but did that mean he couldn't be who he was today?

Slowly, slowly, he withdraws, ending the kiss in a strong hug. Holding her for several moments enables him to hide his face, which he knew wouldn't convey what he wanted it to. He didn't want her to feel unwanted, or give her the impression that he didn't enjoy this. He did... but maybe he enjoyed it too much.

Gently, he lets Misty go, turning before his eyes can meet hers again. He'd sensed some hesitance on Misty's part lately, and had wondered about it. He was trying to behave himself, but she hadn't really responded the way he'd thought she would. Had he done something wrong, despite his efforts?

Fooling with the pizza box, the silence is one that he doesn't like, though he tries to pretend that his focus was on the box, not on anything else. Looking up, he finally looks back to Misty, a small smile on his lips. "I hate cold pizza," he muses. "I'll get the plates if you find the movie."

David stands near Angelica, one hand tucked in his pocket, his other busy holding a drink. She'd seemed far away tonight. It had been a while since they'd seen each other, and he'd tried multiple times to have a more serious chat with her since she'd been back, but she'd seemed unwilling. So, respecting her space, he'd settled for surface conversation instead.

"Why thank you," he answers, a smile playing on his lips. "You look fantas..." His words are cut off as her phone rings and she excuses herself.

Looking down at his arm where she'd touched him, he gives a little sigh. Finishing his drink, he glances around the room, shaking someone's hand as they pass, and nodding to another like any good business person should.

As his eyes find Angelica again, his eyebrows raise slightly. Where was she going and...who was this stranger? Frowning a little, he watches for a moment. They seemed awfully friendly. No one should have gotten in without an invitation, but David had never seen this guy before.

Reese's smile widens as Angelica approaches, and he puts his phone away. His cheeks redden slightly, though he retains his composure. Cocking his head, he reaches out to brush the tear from her face with a gentle finger. "Better now," he answers quietly. "Now that... I can apologize for being self-absorbed and too involved in my own little world to realize that maybe there was someone else who needed some company."

He gives a little nod, standing awkwardly for a moment. "I, um... might need a good lawyer now too, after I got let in here on an outdated badge." Humor twinkles in his eyes. "But I'd much rather have you as a..."

"Well hello." David boldly interrupts, his curiosity getting the best of him. He stretches out a hand to Reese. "I'm Angelica's associate, David Croughton."

Reese lifts an eyebrow, a little surprised, but willing to accept the intrusion. He accepts the handshake. "Mike Reese."

"And you're from..." David fishes, trying to figure out where he knew Angelica from.

"Nevada. I work, or, used to work for the Elite."

"Ah. The new branch of law enforcement." David nods knowingly. "Retired?"

Reese doesn't know whether the comment implied he appeared old enough for retirement, or if it was an innocent question. "Uh, no." He forces a smile. "Hopefully I'll be going back shortly after a few things are cleared up. Angelica might even help out with that one."

David studies Reese for a moment, then glances at Angelica, his smile remaining. His eyes stay on her, even though his speech is directed to Reese again. "I've been trying to convince this rogue to come back here full-time again since our two main firms are merging. Wears a person out to manage two unconnected jobs, especially long-distance."

"Well, she's pretty talented," Reese compliments. "We sure have appreciated her with the Elite. Lots of things we couldn't have done with out her."

"Now you know how I feel." David and Reese lock eyes for a strangely tense moment before someone else comes up to get David's attention. He offers a nod to Reese, then a gentle touch to Angelica's shoulder. "Excuse me."

Reese watches him leave, then turns his attention back to Angelica, a new look in his eye. It didn't portray that he was upset, but maybe just a little bit confused. Perhaps coming here hadn't been the great idea he'd thought it was. "Nice guy." He glances to the door, then back to her. "I, um... didn't want to crash the party or anything. I got a hotel in town if you want to meet tomorrow or something." He shrugs, not really knowing why he was suggesting that. He wanted to stay. He'd come to see her here because she'd invited him, and it was here that she'd originally wanted him. But suddenly he felt out of place. Maybe now she really would prefer if they met some other time. His original statement that had been interrupted went forgotten.

Mick wanders from the barn to the house, just having finished everything up for the night. Most people were already in for the evening, all work completed. It was dark, and stars dotted the sky.

Pausing at the porch, he takes in a deep breath of the chilled air, and looks up to gaze at the dark expanse. And like he did every night, he thanked God for where he was, and for his family.

Just as he's about to go inside, his attention is diverted by the sound of one of the ranch trucks being started. Curious, he watches, to see Clint heading out the driveway and towards town. It would have been more strange had he not suspected the same routine for the last week. Mick had asked Jim about it, but no one seemed to know anything. No one had asked Clint about it though, as he'd seemed pretty offish lately. He was often exhausted to breakfast, then would simply trudge to the shop to work for the day with Wes.

Tonight, Mick had seen Clint bid Wendy goodnight, then head to his own bunk. He'd assumed his nephew was turning in. But apparently not. Interesting.

Giving a little sigh, Mick finally finishes his route, entering the cozy house. BJ had been tucked in an hour ago, so all that was left was a warm spot on the couch in front of the television with the one he loved. He was tired, but he wouldn't head to bed just yet.

Shock

Jess watches Axel walks back into the garage for a moment softly whispering to herself.

"You made perfect sence Axel. Perfect sence. You dared to dance around the fire."

Letting out a soft sigh Jess finally pulls away. The afternoon had been nice, lunch had been nice, meeting new people had been ok and tomarrow. What was tomorrow at the concert going to hold? Jess didnt know, and it kind of worryed her, but maybe...just maybe it was her turn to dance.

Time dosnt stop and the hands on the clock tick by till finally the events of the night come into play. Though the day was long, and many were tired still more things had to be done. And so the night continues and the people drag themself on for a few more hours.

Opens the door Misty's grin grows as she lets Carson in with the food. She was hungry and waiting all day to see Carson. Now she had two things she loved most. Receveing the flowers Misty's heart leaps. This was the first time Carson had ever givving her flowers and he did a good job picking them out. Thought there were a few mixed feeling attachen Misty did like them.

"I love them Carson. They are so very nice."

As Carson gives the soft kiss to the lips and than draws away Mitys only wishes for more. Setting the flowers on the table Misty turns to Carson again a sassy smile plays on her lips as she moves twords Carson once again.

"The movie picking and food can wait. I havent had a good old fahson Carson kiss in a long time and I think its over dew."

Drawing even closer Misty brings her one hand to Carson's face and than slids it to the back of his head pulling him a little closer to her. Bringing her lips to his the exchange starts and Misty lets her pent up passion run free. Drawing her other hand around Carson and resting it on his back.

Standing at one of the tables Angelica chats with a few other people she new from the ferm. Turning to her left a little Angelica's long red strapless dress moves swiftly with her and the dimont necklace glissons around her neck. Her hair moving ever so softly around her neck as the curles hang. Giving a wave to a tall man over to one side Angelica walks over to him a smile place on the face that had tears only hours before.

"Your looking in good sorts tonight David. Its good to see you."

As Angelica goes to say more her phone goes off once again. Reaching into her hand bag for a moment she looks at the number seeing its Reese. She hadnt answered her phone all day and she new she probley should. Something could be wrong and she would feel horrbable if she never new.

Giving a smile she lays a gentil hand on David arm.

"Excuse me a moment David."

Leaving the small group Angelica makes her way to a quiet spot. Opening her phone and bringing it to her ear.

"Hello..?"

No more needed to be said as Reese makes his comment. Throwing Angelica off a little bit she is silent for a moment just letting it sink in.

"Mike...how do you know...."

As Angelica makes her statment she turns around as a group of noisy people enter. Looking up her eyes catch sigh of Reese standing in the crowd of people.

"...what...I look like."

An instint smile spreads on Angelica's face as the shock starts to fade and the relization of Reese being there for real hits her. Slowly walking over her to him Angelica holds her dress in one hand till she reaches him and lets it go. Not being able to help but give him a once over her smile still remains as a small happy tear rolls from her eye.

"You..look pretty good yourself. What...are you doing here?"

Evening events

"Buffalo pizza," Carson repeats. "Got it. Oops... hang on a sec." He puts his hand over the phone, leaning his head to see Dani peek into the kitchen. "Yeah?"

Dani grins. "Caught you at the right time. I got off work early today. If you want to borrow the car tonight, you can."

"You are an angel."

Dani rolls her eyes. "Whatever. You'll just have to owe me a milkshake."

Carson grins at her. "It's a deal." He turns his attention back to Misty. "Forget about picking me up. Dani just said I could borrow her car. So... guess I'll see you tonight then."

Finishing up the call, he scarfs down the rest of his lunch so he can get back to work quickly.

Axel is halfway out of his seat, but as Jess speaks, he eases back down instead of moving. Leaning his arms on the table, he cocks his head at her, his eyes betraying him to reveal that there was a part of him that was glad she'd said he could stay.

Giving a slight smile, he looks back down at the table where he traces a pattern of water from his wet glass with a finger. "Rainbows don't fear a storm's lightning, because they can't be scarred by it."

At her comment about tomorrow, he nods. "It should be fun. They can get a little rowdy when we're all together, but nothing ever gets out of hand. It's always good clean fun."

A long pause follows, and Axel suddenly realizes that his arm is touching Jess'. Instinctively, he straightens up and glances at his watch as an excuse. "Guess lunch time is about over, huh?"

Sliding from the booth, he stands and waits for Jess. After paying, it's back to the shop once more. Again, not much is said. But after the lunch filled with conversation, the quiet feels even nicer. But something seems to be on Axel's mind that wasn't before.

Once back to the garage, he sighs and looks over to Jess. "Thanks. Guess I'll see you tomorrow then. I'll save you a seat behind the sound table." His eyes say he wants to say more, but he doesn't, and instead, he exits the car. But he doesn't shut the door.

Just standing for a moment, he seems to be thinking, then leans back down so he can see her face again. "Even rainbows have histories," he mentions quietly. "I apologize for any awkwardness today. Sometimes..." He stops again as if kicking himself for saying anything, but he forces himself to finish. "...sometimes mistakes are made that make a guy think twice about his actions. Sometimes it leads to avoiding a situation and sometimes it leads to compromise. Thing is..."

He shifts his weight, pausing again and just studying Jess' eyes. "Storms are so unpredictable. And depending on the light, a rainbow might bend a different way. But when those who are so used to seeing it bent a certain way see that shift, they tend to think something is wrong when... in reality... the rainbow was just daring a change of pace."

Axel pauses once more, almost cringing at himself. "And for one of the first times, I don't think I made any sense at all."

Shaking his head at himself, he straightens back up, deciding that any more explanation would just make things worse. "Keep shining, Jess... keep shining."

He shuts the door and taps the hood of her car with his palm before turning and ambling back towards the garage, his steps slow but deliberate.

The day... a day that had seemed so long in the morning... a day that seemed to never want to end, finally surrenders the evening. And then, so quickly the time seems to have gone by.

Phil stands at the bookcase in the living room, a book in his hand. Hearing a noise behind him, he turns around in time to see Kyle heading for the door. "Hey. What's up?"

"Just heading out."

"Where to?"

"Rocky's."

"Oh." Phil quirks an eyebrow. "I thought... we were going over to Mike's for practice."

Kyle shrugs, one hand on the open door. "We're good, don't you think?"

"Well sure, but..."

"I won't be long," Kyle cuts him off. "I'll come by Mike's when I'm done at Rocky's."

"Well what are you two up to?"

Kyle doesn't mean to get irritated, but the look he throws his brother proves he is. "Does it matter?"

Phil retreats, swallowing hard. "I guess... not. Tell him hi?"

"Will do."

The door closes with a click, leaving silence to roam. Phil stares at it for several moments. Since when was visiting someone else more important than a JetStream practice to Kyle?

"Pizza!" Carson knocks on Misty's door, his arms loaded with supper. Once she answers, he greets her with a smile, entering her house to deposit the boxes on the table. "Did you know..." He displays the food with a flourish. "...that Mom and Pop's is the only Italian restaurant in the area that has traditional-type Italian food and a huge pizza business too? Most places with traditional food have some type of pizza but..." He opens the box and takes a whiff of the warm aroma. "...none actually serve as many pizzas, or host as large a groups as Mom and Pop's. Some people go there just for the pizza. And..." He holds up a finger for emphasis. "It's still run by just two people with a staff you can count on one hand."

Grinning, he sets his hands on his hips, his eyes twinkling. "And...it just so happens that it's the only restaurant in town that employs an Aussie who is lucky enough to have you in his life."

Retreating to one of the bags, he pulls out a small bouquet of pink flowers. "For you."

Cocking his head, Carson reaches out to run a hand down the side of Misty's face. This was the first time in a long time he'd even been over here. Leaning in, he gives her a tender kiss on the lips. "It's your night," he offers. "I got the food you want, now you get to pick the movie too."

Reese parks his car across from the building lit up with lights. He was pretty sure he was at the right place. At least according to the map he'd downloaded off the internet.

Fidgeting a little bit to make sure he was all together and presentable, he steps out of the car and locks it, heading across the street. Tonight he'd opted for black pants, a light blue collared shirt and a black blazer.

Arriving at the door, he overcame his awkwardness with a business air. He had no invitation. He had no one to even vouch for him. But he did have an ace up his sleeve.

Questioned, he slides his jacket back to show his badge. Allowed inside, he keeps himself from grinning. Maybe technically he wasn't on the force, but his old TJY badge had done the trick.

Smiling and nodding at the mingling crowd, he blends in, casually scanning the faces. He felt almost as if he were on some undercover case again. But this time his mission was much different.

Wandering the edge of the room, he finally spots his target. Just watching her for a moment, he reaches in his pocket and pulls out his cell phone. Dialing Angelica's number, he watches as she finds her own phone to answer it.

Knowing she didn't yet know he was there, a smile spreads on his face. From his position, he could see her perfectly. "You look beautiful tonight," he greets. Holding his phone to his ear, he just waits.

"Sorry, I was a bit flat on that one." Axel takes a pencil and marks his sheets of music.

Kyle smirks. "What? On one measure?"

Taylor claps her hands. "I love how you two sound together."

Kyle sighs and looks at the clock. "I gotta go. The guys are waiting at Mike's."

"Have you told them yet?" Rocky asks.

Kyle shakes his head.

Rocky looks at him with disappointment. "You really think it's a good surprise?"

"I'll make sure they leave," Kyle reasons. "They'll want to leave for supper or something before the night is up and they won't even know I sang at all."

Axel looks up from his paper, eying Kyle skeptically. "What if they don't leave?"

"They will. They'll want pizza."

"Great," Joel teases, "they like food more than Cryptic."

"They do not," Kyle shoots back. "But it's not like we've never heard you guys before."

"We're certainly not offended," Rocky comments. "But Kyle... you really think this is a good idea?"

"Just don't tell them, alright?"

Rocky shrugs in surrender. "Alright."

"So where's Kyle?" Jason strums his guitar absent mindedly as JetStream practices in Mike's basement.

"Said he had to see Rocky," Phil informs. "He wouldn't say why."

Jason stops playing as a strange silence takes over the room. Practice sessions usually didn't have breaks like this. "What's wrong, Phil?"

Phil shakes his head. "I don't know. He won't talk to me. He's been out and won't say where, he's been evasive, and I just can't get him to talk to me about anything anymore."

Though Jason's eyes are down, his communication is wide open for Katie who was there also.
I wonder what's going on there. That's just not like Kyle at all.

"Y'all done or what?" Kyle comes bounding down the stairs, taking off his jacket and sliding in behind the keyboard. "I hear no music!"

Mike quirks an eyebrow. "Kinda hard when not everyone is here."

Kyle smirks. "I'm but a mere corner addition. You make the music. I fill in the gaps."

Jen rolls her eyes. "Kyle. How many times do we have to tell you to stop selling yourself short? What's the deal?"

"Just stating facts, my dear." Kyle looks up with a cheesy grin on his face. He glances over to Katie. "Hey, what good is a bodyguard who won't keep these guys off my back, eh?"

Rainbow close to a Storm

Thought Carson couldnt see her a smile made its way across Misty's face anyways. Everythough things have changed Misty still loved spanding time with Carson and missed him when he was not around.

"You know I could just say I was in the mood for kiss from you."

Misty lets the implacation just linger for a long moment, but as no smart reply comes Misty let a small sigh Misty continues to talk.

"Ya know I am kind of in the mood for Buffalo pizza."

Jess' eyes just linger on a Rocky for a moment taking him in. Who he was, how he talked and his looks trying to make her own impresstion of him. He seemed like and ok guy. Than slowly she looks to Taylor as she talks and than back down to her plate.

As the chatter continues and that talk of Jetstream and Kyle comes up Jess trys her best to stay with what was going on but gets lost in the conversation not really knowing what was going on though she was filled in here and there. Jess couldnt help but feel a bit awkward and out of place. Not by the comapny she was in but the conversation itself and not knowing what was going on.

The time pass slowly and Jess keeps quiet just listing till finally Rocky and Taylor are ready to leave. Looking up at Rocky Jess gives a smile trying to be as polite as she can be.

"I'll see you tomarrow than. It was nice meeting you."

Once the other are gone Jess looks to Axel. A differnt more at ease smile forming.

"I dont mind if you sit next to me. Its not every day a Rainbow gets this close to a storm."

Picking up her glass Jess takes a sip of her apple juice and than sets the glass down. She new that something was strange with the incounter today and she picked up on a few differnt things but she didnt want to be so farward with asking.

"Your friends seem nice. I think it will be nice hanging out with you tomarrow."

Space

Carson grabs a chair in the kitchen and sinks down, taking a quick break after the lunch rush. Eating a bite of spaghetti, he reaches up to his jacket that was hanging on a hook. He'd heard his cell phone ringing a while ago, but hadn't had time to stop and check it.

Flipping it open, he sees a voice mail and listens to it, a grin spreading on his face. Hitting his speed dial, he calls Misty's direct line into the TJY infirmary. Taking another mouthful, he has to swallow before he can reply to her answer. "Nope, I'm not working late, and yes, I'd love to spend the evening with you. Come to think of it... I know a guy who can make any kind of specialty pizza you want."

He twirls his fork around in his spaghetti. "Tell me what you're hungry for and what time you'll be here and... it's a date."

Axel tries to give Jess enough room without making it look as though he were trying to avoid her, or slide off the booth. Keeping one eye on her, he makes sure she's comfortable enough to let things roll as they were.

Though his own invitation was overcome by Rocky's, Axel gives Jess a little nod and grin when she accepts. He was glad she'd try to come at least. "Come early and you can help us set up... you can hear JetStream too."

"Oh yeah, they're great," Taylor adds.

At Jess' question to Rocky, he peeks over his menu at her, his eyes narrowing slightly to prove that a smile was hidden behind the folded page. "Yep, I do."

Setting his menu down, he shrugs. "Do a bit of singing too - usually just backup." He leans forward a little to rest his elbows on the table. Opening his mouth to say more, he's interrupted by the waitress who come to take his and Taylor's orders. By the time she leaves, his thought seems to have grown too old to speak.

"So what did Kyle say?" Axel inquires.

Rocky lifts an eyebrow. "It was like pulling teeth, but we got him to say yes."

"Really? Does the rest of JetStream know?"

Rocky shakes his head. "No..." He sighs. "We told him he needed to tell them, but he was undecided." He looks to Jess again, knowing that she was probably clueless about all of this. "Kyel's from JetStream," he explains. "You mighta seen him around. Great voice. Me and some of the others from Cryptic recorded him a few years back - that was before Axel came along. Problem is - Kyle never told his siblings or the rest of his band about it. They're still clueless he's as good as that."

Taylor rolls her eyes. "I don't see what the big deal is. Why don't we just tell them for him?"

"Because we promised," Axel answers her. There's a slight edge to his voice as if he's annoyed Taylor would say that. "And that's reason enough, don't you think?"

She shrugs. "I suppose." Glancing over to Jess, she grins. "We're surrounded by a chivalrous bunch."

Deciding it's time to switch the subject, Rocky glances towards the window. "Didn't see the truck, Axel. Get that car you wanted to?"

Axel shakes his head, relaxing again. "No, still working on that deal. The truck was busy though, so I rode with Jess."

Taylor's eyes widen noticeably. "You..."

Axel doesn't look up, but rather plays with a straw wrapper.

Rocky glances to Jess, then Axel, to Taylor, then back to Axel. His eyes show not that he wants to pry, but instead help for some odd reason. "Well," he mentions casually, "Taylor and I can give you a ride back to the shop when we're done here if you want. We're heading that way anyway."

Axel's eyes shoot up quickly and a strange pause follows until his gaze wanders to Jess for a moment, then back to Rocky. "No need. I'm good."

Taylor sits back a little, studying him. "Feeling alright?"

"Yeah, why?"

"I just..."

Rocky kicks Taylor under the table, making her jump, but she doesn't say anything aloud. "Nothing. Never mind."

Before more can be said, the waitress returns with their food, interrupting the conversation along with the awkwardness. Rocky prays before they eat, and talk becomes lighter chitchat, Taylor leading most of it.

Axel seems lost in thought a few times, a bit more out of it than normal, though not unwilling to enter into some banter with Rocky and crack an occasional smile.

Eventually, Taylor looks at her watch and reminds Rocky she needs to get to work. Rising, she bids farewell to both Axel and Jess, and she heads for the door. Rocky is a little slower, sliding from the booth and standing to stretch. "Well you two... have a nice afternoon. Axel, see you tomorrow at three - I'll swing by to pick you up. And..." He glances to Jess, offering a grin. "Hope to see you there too." Giving a wave, he turns to follow after Taylor.

Axel watches them leave and is quiet for a moment before looking to Jess as if realizing something. "Sorry - you can have your booth back." He starts to get up, with the intention of sitting across from her again, to give her space once more.

Rugged looks

Misty shakes her head as Jason starts to leave a small laugh escaping from her lips.

"Try to stay out of trouble huh? I dont want to have to wait another week to see you."

Once Jason is gone Misty lets out a small sigh before going back to her work. Though not able to consintrate so much as she would like to.

Picking up the phone on her desk she dials Carson's cell only to get the voicemain instead of him. Figuring it was better than nothing at all Misty leaves a message.

"Hey You. I was wondering if you were working late or not? I though we could grab a pizza, watch a movie and maybe just hang out back at my place. Let me know. See ya"

Hanging up the phone Misty trys to clear her mind and consintrate going back to her work at hand.

Angel can't help but laugh at the comment about the dog sleeping with him. Leave to Mick to say something like that. Though Angel was worry about being so far away from Luke and Wendy she new they were both in good hands.

"I am a bit tired. I was thinking about laying down to take a nap before I headed over to TJY. You take care of yourself too and if you need any help please ask someone....I love you."

Hanging up the phone Angel sets it down on the table and walks back over to the bed. Laying back it only takes moments before she is asleep.

The quiet is welcomed at the table like many times before Jess didnt mind it. There was just something about the silence with Axel that was welcoming.

Looking up as Axel talks a smile spreading across her face. It was differnt to have someone invite her someplace. About to reply Jess gives a jump at the sound of someone alses voice shattering the silence. Shooting her head up Jess looks to Rocky and than back to Axel feeling a bit uneasy from being startled. As Rocky draws his attachen to Jess she just looks up at him for a moment than looking back at Axel almost as if asking if this person she didnt know was ok.

Turning he eyes back to Rocky after Axel's introduction Jess can feel herself calm just a little. If he was a friend of Axel's he must be ok. She had formed enough trust in Axel to know he had a good judge in who he hung out with.

Just looking at Rocky's hand for a moment Jess finally exstends her own slowly and takes a hold of him giving a it shake before withdrawing it.

"Its nice to meet you as well."

Jess gives Rocky a soft smile trying to let her discomfort show through. but cant help giving a little start when Tylor comes over as well not having exspected anyone alse. Jess gives a smile and nod to her.

Moving over slightly as Axel moves into the boot Jess press herself up again the wall not minding to much. Taking the menu that was infront of her Jess lifts it a little and scans it though Axel and herself had already ordered. It was the only thing she could do where she felt comfortable. She didnt know these people very well so she didnt know what to talk about silence was the best option for now.

As Rocky's offer makes it to Jess ear she stays silent for a moment. One might think she didnt even hear Rocky but finally she looks over her own menu and gives another smile to Rocky this time with a little more confadince.

"I dont think I have to work tomarrow. So I might just stop by, Axel was telling me about everyone and I do think I'd like to hear you guys. Thank you for the offer Rocky."

Looking back down at the menu Jess look over at Axel and than puts the menu down again waiting for the food. Looking back at Rocky for a moment Jess takes note to his rudded looks.

"So, you play the keybored?"

Company

Jason lets a bit of silence linger, not sure he can offer anything more about Carson. It was between those two now, and he could just hope they worked things out. He knew Carson was probably clueless that Misty even felt this way, but he was unsure how he'd react if Misty told him.

Giving a little smile of encouragement, Jason starts to leave, but then stops as Misty keeps him there with her own question.

Glancing back at her, something strange flickers in his eyes, and he just looks at her for several moments. No one, other than Katie, ever really asked him how he was. He was invincible Hotshot, able to handle anything. No one ever took the time to look past that outer layer. It wasn't bad that they didn't, and he certainly wasn't offended when they didn't, but it just created a brief feeling of almost confusion when someone like Misty actually did take note that there was more going on than his cocky air.

He offers a slightly crooked grin and shrugs. "I'm... alright. Take the Austin factor out, and I'd probably say I'm doing right well." Though there's sadness there, he covers it up - there was no need to go digging around on that subject now.

"And as far as I know, Katie's alright. We've both been under a lot of stress lately. Spent time together but not really... know what I mean?" He shakes his head. "I just want this whole thing to be over so we can get back to normal again. But... I have my doubts that will be any time soon."

"Jason?" Susanne sticks her head into the infirmary. "There you are. Austin's looking for you."

Jason rolls his eyes. "I'll be there... soon." He turns back to Misty with a smirk. "I suppose I better not push my luck and at least go see what he wants. If you hear an explosion though, it wasn't me."

Tossing her a wink, he heads for the door. "Let me know about Carson," he throws over his shoulder.

Exiting, he slings an arm around Susanne to drag her along with him. "Now what's all this about..."

Luke straddles a chair backward and looks out the window, the phone to his ear. He smiles. "Yeah, I was kinda wondering if you were ever gonna call. Thought maybe you'd forgot," he teases. "I miss you too. Mick offered me the dog to keep me warm at night, but I politely turned him down."

Still grinning, he sees people out and about outside, and wishes he had the strength in his legs this morning to join them. "You sound tired," he muses. "Take care of yourself, alright?"

Axel grins as he unbuckles his seatbelt. "Either that, or everybody heard a storm was coming."

Getting inside, the aromas make one's mouth water. Axel finds a table with Jess, and it doesn't take them long to be settled and waiting for their food. Conversation is light and sparse as always, but it's not uncomfortable, and rather fairly relaxing.

Waiting for their food, Axel runs a finger around the top of his water glass. "Um... you know we got that concert tomorrow evening at a fundraiser. I was gonna ask if you wanted to come along. Hang out with the band, and you won't have to pay to get in either."

He shrugs. "Lot of people, but... stick around us and it's not a bad bunch." He lifts his eyes to look at Jess across the table, wondering if she felt up to a social event like that.

"Well, look who the cat dragged in."

Axel turns quickly to look up at his friend. "Rocky. I thought you had to work today."

Rocky smirks. "That's a fine welcome. Hi to you too."

Axel offers a wry grin. "You alone?"

"No." Rocky shakes his head and thumbs over his shoulder. "I got some weird blonde tagging along. Said her cousin was borrowing her car and she had no way to get to work."

"And... she twisted your arm to buy her lunch too?"

"Nope. I told her I was penniless. I only stopped because she said she'd share one of her french fries with me."

Axel shakes his head, still grinning. "She's as dangerous one."

"You're telling me." Rocky chuckles, then shifts his attention to Jess. "You must be Jess. Think I've seen you a time or two, but this knucklehead has never introduced us."

Axel's face grows slightly warm. "Jess, this is Rocky. He's the keyboard player for Cryptic. Rocky, this is Jess."

Rocky smiles and extends his hand for a warm handshake. "Nice to finally meet you."

Taylor catches up to him, coming up from behind and waving to Axel, a smile on her face. "Hey, Ax. What are you doing here?"

Axel looks down at the table, then around the restaurant. "Fishing?"

Taylor rolls her eyes and gives his arm a whack. "Nice try. I see somebody finally got you out of your hole." She grins over at Jess. "Don't let this guy fool you. He's not exactly a social butterfly."

Few would notice the muscles in Axel's jaw tightening. "So - you two got a table?"

Taylor shakes her head. "Rocky wanted to sit across the room from me, but I told him he was being ridiculous."

Rocky gets a crooked grin on his face. "I wouldn't want people to talk." He tosses Jess a wink. "Taylor here is the baby sister of the band."

"Baby?" Taylor smirks at him. "Thanks a heap." She turns back to Axel. "Mind if we share a table?"

Axel lifts his eyebrows slightly, then glances at Jess. He'd been enjoying the quiet, but he didn't want to be rude to his friends either. "Um... okay." But instead of putting Jess in an awkward position of sitting next to someone she didn't know, Axel slides from his seat to make a simple turn and share Jess' booth with her, leaving the opposite side for Rocky and Taylor.

Rocky scoots in across from Jess and puts a leg up on the booth to keep Taylor from sitting down. All it does is serve to get another whack from her though, so he relents and straightens, the teasing twinkle in his eye remaining. Scanning a menu briefly, Rocky looks over the top of it to see Jess. "If you haven't heard Cryptic, tomorrow night is a prime opportunity."

"I... was just asking her about that," Axel intervenes. His eyes study his water glass again, his demeanor having changed slightly to be just a bit cooler than before.

Rush

Looking at Axel for a moment Jess just studys him for a long moment. She was still intested in what she had asked Axel and wondered why he wasnt telling everything when she new there way more. But prying wasnt in her nature and for now she figured to let it go.

Giving a small snicker at Axel's comment Jess continues to drive letting the silence continue. For most it might be uncomfortable, and maybe a bit awkward but for Jess it didnt bother her. The silence was nice but knowing someone alse was next to her was even nicer.

Finally after diving a few minutes more Jess and Axel are on the other side of town pulling into a nice bar and grill. Finding a parking spot and shutting the car off Jess gives a small sigh..

"Here we are and it dosnt look like they are to busy eather we must of missed the rush."

Misty can't help but give a small smile just thinking about Carson always did that, though still there was that feeling that things just were differnt now.

"He is a good guy, and he really is doing good. From what I saw a few differnt times of him being at Mom and Pop's and around other people He's really going on the right road."

Think for a moment Misty is quiet. She wasnt sure what to think really about Carson's old self and now his new one. Maybe she was being selfish and should just accept the change and move on or maybe like Jason said she should talk to him.

"I dont want him to feel like he did something wrong if I talk to him. Let alone I dont even know what I would say. He's worked so hard to make it this far, I dont want him to feel like it was for nothing."

Misty lets out a small sigh and taps her pen on the desk. Everything had a time and a reason. She new Jason was right and she should at least say something to Carson so he new and not keep it bottled up inside. Finding the right time would be the hard part.

Looking up at Jason Misty gives him a smile as she looks into his own eyes. He hide his own curtine of pain that only one person could feel, but still from the look Misty could tell it was there. Yet behind the pain Misty could see the changes Jason went through that had formed him to who he was today. Change everyone goes throuh it, but adapting to that change was the hardest part of all.

"So...other than upset, and hurt from your grandfather how are YOU? How's Katie doing I havnt see her today Not that I talk to her much when I do see her."

Entering the hotal room Angel puts her bags down on the floor. Just standing in the doorway for a moment. The flight here had been longer than intended and she was not completely exsausted. It almost felt like the life he been drained out of her for no reason. Letting out a long tired sigh Angel makes her way over to the small table at the far end of the room and sits down for a moment drawing the curtin back and just looking out the window.

It felt strange to be this far from home and everyone there. Since a long time ago the Ranch had been home, the place she stayed the most. Other than going in town now and than, at the end of the night the Ranch was where she rested her head. Now, Now she was so far away, and so was Luke. Everyone not knowing anything differnt was going on than the normal. Home...how Angel missed it already.

Pulling out her cell phone Angel just holds it for a moment before finally dialing the number to the ranch. Keeping her voice chipper she wait till she hears Luke's voice on the other end.

"Hey Hun. Sorry I am so late calling the one layover I had took longer than they exspected. Yeah I am here now though. I miss you already."

Continuing to talk on the phone Angel stands and starts slowly to her bags. She wasnt sure how long she would be staying but she new it would at least be for a week she might as well put her things away in the dresser and hang up her other cloths.
